Someone from a Canadian McDonalds sent us this image of their promotion sheet for the upcoming FiM Toys scheduled for the 9th of March. I am not completely sure how similiar Canada is in comparison to the rest of us, but I'm sure some of this information will be useful for those looking to Catch em' All ™.
From last year's fiasco, it did seem like the actual toys being stocked were completely random by store. They may have buckled down a bit, but from what he tells us, we can expect the following to show up:
Shipments come every 5 days:
- Toys 1/2: Pinkie Pie and Rarity (By March 5th)
- Toys 3/4: Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy (By March 5th)
- Toys 5/6: Applejack and Lily Blossom (By March 10th)
- Toys 7/8: Rainbow Dash and Cheerilee (By March 15th)
As with last year, you can actually purchase the toys separately, though it does vary pretty drastically from McDonalds to McDonalds. I ran into this personally last year, when one straight up refused to sell them separately, and charged a dollar each extra, and another wanted $2.50 per if you don't order anything.
As for picking specific ones, you can request it, but it really does depend on who you talk to. Mcdonalds is a busy place, so try to find them during some sort of downtime. I grabbed a Cheerilee and was told there weren't any others in stock, then returned an hour later to pick up three others.
Again though, pretty much all of this varies from store to store, so you may have to do some digging of your own.
Thanks to Peter for all the information!

Get ALL the toys!
ReplyDeleteYea!
ReplyDeleteput Mlp before Transformers! HA!
Can anypony in San Francisco clarify that you can still buy Happy Meal toys just themselves here in SF? I heard somewhere that, ironically, due to the San Francisco kids-meal-toy-ban, you can still get a toy with a Happy Meal if you pay McDonalds 10 cents more, yet they won't allow you to purchase the toys separately anymore. I think SFGate wrote about that...
ReplyDelete"Toys 1 & 2: Pinkie Pie and Rairty (By March 5th)"
ReplyDeleteRairty huh
Look fun ^^
ReplyDeleteScrew this pony stuff! When can I get me some Squinkies?
ReplyDelete(Sounds like the worst Hostess snack cake of all.)
I find it a tiiiiiny bit sexist of them to write "girls can play with" at the ponies, but the transformer toys are apparently for "kids" in general :p
ReplyDeleteLets buy ALL the ponies, to break the stereotype!
They actually have a system? O.o
ReplyDeleteI was at a Canadian McDonalds just this morning, looking for the toys, just as I've been once a week for the last month. ^_^ Still no luck, I'll try again next week in case I can get at least the first two before they go on display.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the intel!
@CrimsonFire
ReplyDeleteOh, but let's be fair. What are the odds of grown men and boys wanting ponies? It's a sickness, I tell you! A sickness!
(The previous was brought to you by my having just thought about Rick Santorum).
Squinkies are disturbing, I have just now discovered.
ReplyDeleteThis information is wonderful!
ReplyDelete*Analyzing the situation, and preparing the strategy for Operation Pony Swipe 2012*
Glad I live in a small town, hope the ponies aren't in as high of a demand.
ReplyDeleteAlso happy this is from a Canadian employee gives me a better idea when I need to start stalking Ronald.
It will be a tad bit embarassing for me(a guy) to ask for both a happy meal and the girls toy.
ReplyDeleteCorrection: four toys in the first cycle, then two cycles of two. French Canada doesn't get the themed box. I hope someone takes a picture of the box? Cycle one starts Thursday March 1st... Our McDonalds tends to receive their toys on Mondays... I think I'll go back on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteAny idea what the "under-3" offering (s) will be? Wondering partly because that's occasionally my mental state, but also in case there's other stuff worth having.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it seems most McDs will have ponies a few days before the promo officially starts. Anyone have experience front-running these kinds of promotions? Do some McDs start giving the toys early, perhaps if you ask really really nicely with Fluttershy eyes?
Fluttershy by March 5th? Yes!! Going to get it for free :)
ReplyDeleteI really hope I can get something this time! I will have you Twilight and Pinkie!
ReplyDeleteMy heart is going to have to endure a lot of fast food in the coming weeks. It'll be worth it for the ponies.
ReplyDeleteSo excited
ReplyDelete"..Comes with a special cutie mark comb that allows girls to style the pony's long, brushable tails."
ReplyDeleteRight. Girls.
@RainbowSMASH
ReplyDeleteI've quit caring about stuff like that... no McDonald's employee is gonna tell me I can't have my pony.
Besides, their employees should be trained not to be judgemental like that, but instead to make customers feel comfortable enough to make return visits. They wouldn't, or shouldn't, make fun of a 300-pound guy ordering three Big Macs and two large fries who's obviously ordering only for himself; so they shouldn't do it with bronies, either.
My older brother works as a manager at a Canadian McDonalds.
ReplyDeleteI am SO IN!
@brony4444 A McDonalds employee told us in a previous post (early February?) that yes, if you ask nicely outside of rush periods in the day, you can get all the toys. There is supposed to be a "customer satisfaction" crate for that purpose. Supposedly, savvy collectors take advantage of the "customer satisfaction" crate.
ReplyDeletewtf is a squinkie?
ReplyDeleteRemember McDonald's employees: the ponies are for boys, the Transformers are for girls. Don't get them mixed up, or the kids will be sad.
ReplyDelete@Frith
ReplyDeleteIts like "65 cents" a toy, but if you can actually do that, then I may try(if this mlp promo comes to Ireland)
"You will receive your POP kit with the 1st delivery of toys."
ReplyDeleteA few posts ago someone had sent in a photo of the McD's Happy Meal display. So that store already has the toys, no? Hmmm. Which store was it?
Well, at the McDonald's I work at, I know we also get a promo box containing a few sets of each toy, though I think it might depend on how the truck order is filled out.
ReplyDeleteAvailability and willingness to sell is a huge variable though. It all depends on owners (if the store is corporate or a McCoop), who is working (if the employee approached some kid/manager that hates their job or not), stock, and amount or business coming through the store at the time. I would suggest going on non peak hours (peak business hours are usually 6am-9am for breakfast, 11am-2pm for lunch, and 5pm-7pm for dinner). Also truck delivery time changes from store to store if you attempt to get a set as soon as possible.
I'll talk to the POP manager to see if I can get some more information/screens of offical paperwork on it. I work in the states in Arizona specifially and I always try to take time to get parents and kids they toy they want or at least one they don't have. I'm also gonna buy a full set and see if my boss will let me shoost the display even though the POP manager is supposed to return them. He gave one away though so fingers crossed for that, haha.
"Toys 3 & 4: Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy (By March 5th)"
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean show up on March 5th?
hopefully i can get some here in germany before i leave on the 12th
ReplyDelete@ClosetBrony
ReplyDeleteProbaly just a first design of the display unit, which was probaly approved and will later be in all Mcdonalds restraunts.
Hmmm I have a 3 year old sister and she's bound to get a Happy Meal at some point then I will pounce and get free pony!!! I don't care who I get (Dashie please) I just want a pony to keep with me at all times... You know in case of emergencies
ReplyDelete@RainbowSMASH
ReplyDeleteTrue. Or a promo box as @Unknown described.
@Destroyer
ReplyDeleteA brony frood always knows where his/her towel..er.. ponies are.
@ClosetBrony yup I've been planning this for weeks now it's just a waiting game till I get my free pony!!!!
ReplyDeleteErm, forgot to set up my stuff. That was my post up there, but yeah I'll try to get more info later.
ReplyDelete@Destroyer
ReplyDeleteYour lucky
My mom usually goes for stuff like superheroes and Transformers, so maybe, if I'm lucky, I can get her to grab me some ponies. Even though she doesn't know I watch it.
ReplyDelete@RainbowSMASH
ReplyDeleteIf they got their POP, they got their toys. Odds are the US locations get toys before Canada since the toys ship from the US to the north.
@marioandsonic
By March 5th means the store will have the toys in the stock shelves. It does not mean those are the toys that will be stocked up front being handed out.
@Unknown
While it does matter who the manager is doing the Brower order, they will still auto-ship select amounts of each toy. On the flip side of that paper, it had the list of how many cases my store was getting. It was 2 cases of each for the most part.
Also, that is a great suggestion to not go during peak times. The less busy, the happier crew members are to help.
The other thing that was not included in the post that really should have, is that this promotion is for the United States and Canada only.
Who the hell is Lily Blossom?
ReplyDelete@Marty
ReplyDeleteKinda purplish pegasus with a blonde mane. Usually used as a base for Derpy customs.
At my McDonalds that I'm a manager at, we don't bring the customer satisfaction case out until the end of the cycle, and if we don't HAVE to bring it out, we won't, because it can be shipped back for a refund if it remains unopened. Just warning you in advance, Managers may be reluctant to open the Satisfaction case for that reason. Good luck on your hunts, though! :)
ReplyDelete@hoosierbrony
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't happen to work at a McDonalds in Indiana, would you? Or is that just a name? Just asking in case of insane luck.
@Marty
ReplyDeleteFor that matter, what ponies are Bumblebee and Starscream? Are they old G3 models?
Let the race begin.
ReplyDeleteWell, now I got to do the exact same thing I did when the old Battlebots toys were released at McDonalds and look at all the different locations for most(Probably will only get the mane 6)
ReplyDelete@brony4444 They're part of the Transformers Prime toy line coming along with the pony line.
ReplyDeleteI've already got a fairly extensive collection of blind bags. These ones? It'd be awkward going into McDonalds and asking for them...
ReplyDeletenot sure if want.
Oh hey, we're getting Knockout and Breakdown figures. I wonder if the Transformers toys'll be decent this time around...
ReplyDelete@Pikapoo25
ReplyDeleteActually I knew that; they just sounded like they could be pony names too. :) OTOH there aren't a whole lot of pony names that would work as Transformers.
I used math to figure out there's 20% less Rainbow Dash*.
ReplyDelete*(Using 1 significant figure. 3 Sig figs comes to 15.4%)
@JordanRynes
ReplyDeleteI do actually. Southern Indiana. South of Bloomington. (I'm a closet brony, so not sure if I want to reveal more than that. :P )
I will have to buy them all
ReplyDeleteThis really helped!!! I listed different days where I'm gonna get a happy meal for one toy, and just buy the other.
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm not going to take ALL the promotion values out of it!!!!!!
"information will be useful for those looking to Catch em' All ™."
ReplyDelete*'em :B
@Mario_ArtaviaCR
ReplyDeleteIt is only a Canada/US release, unfortunately. Maybe if you ask someone, they would be willing to mail them out to you?
> It will be a tad bit embarassing for me(a guy) to ask for both a happy meal and the girls toy.
ReplyDelete> It'd be awkward going into McDonalds and asking for them...
McDonalds toys: separating the true bronies from the wannabees for the second time!
I have a McDonald's not a five minutes walk from my house. When the madness begins, it's likely I'll get a bunch of extras. So keep in mind if you're having trouble getting a certain pony. I'll be happy to trade them around.
ReplyDeleteSo at what times is McDonald's less busy? Does anyone know?
ReplyDeleteAgain, just go inside, ask to buy the toy separately (most should let you do this), and ask them to show you which ones they have for the day. They will most likely bring back two different ponies, and if you wind up buying both of them, that should put both you and the employee in a good mood.
ReplyDeleteUgh, I'm still not getting why everyone's anxious about ordering a girl's happy meal or just buying the girl toy by itself.
ReplyDeleteI never pay attention to who is buying what, and if somebody buys a girl's happy meal, though I am a brony myself, I still assume the happy meal is for a girl. I usually assume that too when people buy the toy just by itself, my first thought is never that they are buying the toy for themselves, it's for someone else.
@GuerreroPerdido
ReplyDeleteAt the McD's I work at down times are between 5-7am, 9-1030am (on weekdays), 2-330pm, and about 8pm-10pm (on weekdays). Can't speak for every store but McD's considers peak hours to be 7-9am, 11-2pm, and 5-7pm. So anytime between those hours would be ideal.
Only...US and Canada...? /weeps quietly in a corner
ReplyDeleteIf any man is afraid to ask for a pony toy face-to-face, order additional items and go through the drive through. Or, just order the toy on top of any "adult" menu item. That gives the illusion that you're getting the Happy Meal/ toy for somebody else.
ReplyDeleteI'm not afraid to ask for a Pony face to face. I will go in there..stand at the counter and say I would like a happy meal. For a girl. And I would even say Please.
ReplyDeleteDontcallmeabrony, I will call you a brony and you will like it!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, I will buy all the toys this time. Maybe even buy two of each.
@Hannah
ReplyDeleteIKR. Good thing that my friend bought a pony for me when he was overseas in Europe.
Afraid to buy ponies? Grow a pair, stride proudly to the counter and demand your rightful prize.
ReplyDeleteARE WE NOT MEN?
And Lily Blossom is the best non-show pony. You can quote me by name on that.
Haha, how cute, Canada has a toy rotation.
ReplyDeleteIn the picture of the US POP display there is a pony that looks a hell of a lot like Derpy, except when I look @ the Canadian sheet she is called Lilly Blossom.
ReplyDeleteWho the hell is Lilly Blossom?
@marioandsonic does McDonalds serve happy meals 4 in the a.m.?
ReplyDelete@Zen
ReplyDeleteProbaly will
@Zen
ReplyDeleteSome Mcdonalds have "breakfast happy meals" and some don't. You will have to ask them. You can buy toys without the happy meal 24 hrs though. They cost around 2 bucks apiece at my store.
@hoosierbrony
ReplyDeleteI'm a fellow Hoosier brony myself located in Lawrenceburg, IN. I am NOT a closet brony by any means. I'm actually go to be part of a nice McDonald's raid this Saturday with a bunch of other Bronies from Indiana. Feel free to email this gmail account and I'll gladly fill you in about us...and maybe give you a visit at your McDonald's. :P
@JimmyNewCakes As fun as that would likely be, you'd have to drive over a hundred miles to get to my McD's, and I'm being moved to third shift starting tonight, so you couldn't even come inside... :/ Thanks for the offer though. I'm forever alone as a brony. In the vast minority. (Nearly 30, not early twenties on age like most of the community, AND I'm married too.)
ReplyDeleteCan someone explain what a "Themed Box" is and what that means for French Canada not receiving them? I Live in Quebec and whatever that means should affect my Local McD's and I don't want my hopes up for nothing...
ReplyDelete@ShinodaI believe themed boxes are simply the happy meal boxes that will have transformer/mlp designs on them. Some Mcdonalds simply get "generic bags" which have no particular design on them, or generic boxes which are simply red with a yellow smile on them.
ReplyDelete@hoosierbrony That seems to make sense. I don't know why I didn't think of that. I was thinking it was about shipment boxes or something meaning some content may not have been available. I hate quebec with it's laws for that kind of shit. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI gave up on trying to get a full set from the customer satisfaction box over a year ago. I asked the manager at the McDonald's I tend to go to and at first he tried to claim he'd never heard of it, then he said they might get something like that, but not until the end of the promotion and they don't always get them. I gave up after that point. So now every time I want to collect the toys from a specific promotion, I have to make a minimum of four trips. I would try another McDonald's, but the other one that's close to where I live is always super busy. I usually avoid them anyway because they always have the toys in bags or boxes near the drive-thru making it hard to find specific toys, where the one I normally go to keeps the toys in a big bin built in just under the area where the food gets bagged up.
ReplyDeleteyay!
ReplyDeleteIn Canada, just stopped by McD this morning, only Pinkie Pie and Rarity were available. Got 3 of 1, and 2 of the other
ReplyDeleteGot Fluttershy and Twilight at one place, Rarity at a second, Pinkie at a third, and Applejack and Lily Blossom at a fourth. Charged me 1.79 each, plus tax, so 2.02 for one or 4.05 for two. :D
ReplyDeleteWould I be able to purchase some when i got to mcdonalds for breakfast in the mornings??
ReplyDelete@Pinkie_pie_giggles_at_ghostie
ReplyDeleteOf course. Their toys are available 24/7.
If you're trying to get the whole set and wanting them to dig stuff out that's not available at the moment it might be kind of annoying if they're busy. They might even say it's impossible and that's all they have at the moment (which might be the truth so don't press it).
But if you just want one of the ones they got, go for it.
Rarity, Pinkie, and Lily Blossom were available here tonight. Presumably, they still have the RD and Cheerilee boxes left to open tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteMy city is so small i guess that they will probably skip this promotion.... they are still stuck with the jedi thingy.... Smell like ebay, dont you ?
ReplyDelete
