I haven't checked up on this in a while, but it looks like the last "why isn't the last roundup on iTunes yet" email I recieved was a day and a half ago, so the update was probably pretty recent. The Last Roundup has returned to iTunes in all it's Derpy glory.
See this post for an update! Looks like Derpy was changed.

YES! DERPY WINS!
ReplyDeleteYay
ReplyDeleteWe love you, Derpy! ♥
ReplyDeleteYay~
ReplyDeleteYay~
ReplyDeleteGreat news that it's back up! :) shame iTunes have to mess around with it all so much.
ReplyDeleteYEEHAW!
ReplyDeleteHuzza! I think I'll go and buy the season pass now.
ReplyDeleteBut then why was it taken down? Good god... At least this big clump in my stomach is going away now, if this is true that is.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping Derpy has more speaking lines, if only so Last Roundup won't be seen as "the derpy episode" rather than the goddamn awesome Applejack episode.
ReplyDeleteThe triumphant return of Derpy!
ReplyDeleteDerpapocalypse 2012 is over!
LONG LIVE DERPY!
Further proof that, again, this was likely a copyright thing or a marketing ploy.
ReplyDeleteI am very happy to see it coming back. I feel calm and at peace for the first time in weeks.
I bought my Season Pass after it came out.
ReplyDeleteI have to buy it separately now!
What the hell!
What about the Hub? Do they still skip The Last Roundup there?
ReplyDeleteConsidering it takes iTunes almost 4 days to send a receipt, its not too surprising it took this long
ReplyDeleteI have the season pass, but it says I have to buy the episode. :(
ReplyDeleteSo that whole Derpy controversy was blown out of proportion.
ReplyDelete@Flutterfan
ReplyDeleteWe don't know that, it can be perfectly possible that our reactions to it changed Hasbro's minds.
@James Corck
ReplyDeleteI believe it was just a name trademark issue. I think Studio B put the name "Derpy" in the show and Hasbro didn't own the rights to it. It seems that they reacted by pulling it down until they secured the rights to use the name so as to avoid any legal troubles from internet people who could claim they invented the name.
Of course this is all just speculation.
Welcome back Derpy! :)
ReplyDelete@Joel
ReplyDeleteIt's entirely a shot in the dark since we're still not sure what caused it in the first place.
yay! DERPY! *confetti everywhere!*
ReplyDelete@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly! You worded that the same way I've been wording it to my friends anytime the subject came up.
If this speculation turns out to be true, this means that Hasbro owns the rights over Derpy. And when a toy company owns the rights over something, what do they do? They exploit it. We have DJ-Pon3, Zecora, Nightmare Moon, Trixie...I am feeling lucky here and venture to say that we might have Derpy Hooves toys in the future.
Aaaaand Derpy's back. Slow turnaround is an understatement!
ReplyDelete@Kaijyuu
ReplyDeleteYes, but I just mean that it wasn't totally unnecessary to go apeshit over it, since it COULD be due to those guys sending hate mail.
However, I do think that copyright issues probably is the most likely reason to this.
!? >.> I only posted once.
ReplyDeleteI think that they took it off to get hype up for "Friendship Express" if fans thought that Derpy would only exist in a $10 DVD.
ReplyDeleteNow that the ep is back, the only reason to get the DVD (for me) would be for the extended opening (which will probably be on YT within the week of it being released).
@James Corck
ReplyDeletePrecisely! Here's hoping for an official Derpy toy to be unveiled in the next few weeks, as an addendum to the big news from the toy fair.
YUSS
ReplyDeleteBeen waiting for this day.
It's official Hasbro knows my Birthday!
ReplyDeleteYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! :D
ReplyDeleteThis is great news! :D
ReplyDeleteOmg omg omg *squeal*
ReplyDeleteUgh I bought my season pass AFTER it came out. Then when I purchased it, iTunes decided to give me the HD episode afterwards! So now I have 2 versions of The Last Roundup.
ReplyDeleteI vowed to myself that I buy when they restored this episode. They have. And my tax refund is here today. Coincidence? I think not.
ReplyDeleteHey, myboyJ, remeber Rizi, does anyone remember him?
ReplyDeleteWell that's all good that The Last Roundup is back up. Unfortunately, Hearts and Hooves Day has gone missing in it's place instead.
ReplyDeleteI hope he didn't follow me here.
ReplyDelete@MyBoyJ An official Derpy toy would be so awesome, I would definetly buy one
ReplyDeleteI just watch on utube, is that wrong?
ReplyDeleteWhoo hoo!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete@11Bolts shh, i'm keeping him at bay
ReplyDeleteWatch him comment right when I say that.....
Goddamn, this day just keeps getting better and better!
ReplyDeleteHe isn't commenting, but he is still trolling on the other post.
ReplyDelete@Joel
ReplyDeleteI don't blame people for doing petition and stuff but those who used this to rip other Bronies and say stuff like "What's wrong with this community" and all that should be embarassed.
Some people jumped to conclusions and blamed other fans without a shred of proof.
Victory! It's a good day to be a fan of the wall-eyed mare.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I need to say this. Excuse me everypony, I can't hold it any longer *clears throat*.
ReplyDeleteWe can have nice things <3
ALL GLORY TO DERPY!
ReplyDelete@11Bolts i'm doing my best to contain him to one post. Knowing my luck, it'll fail
ReplyDelete@11Bolts
ReplyDeleteI remember, and I will repeat what I said yesterday.
Ignore him. Do not respond.
Love and Tolerate.
I only read that last line, MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteSo, ummm. I just bought Season 1 HD and Season 2 season pass HD. It now seems to be downloading episodes in both HD and SD. Is this normal?
ReplyDeleteI may have already downloaded a higher resolution version from YouTube, but I purchased this episode to show my support.
ReplyDeleteAh, so the matter is resolved. I see the arguing isn't though...
ReplyDeleteAwesome but where is episode 17?
ReplyDeleteGents, our hope is restored!
ReplyDeleteI can now live again.
Hooray!
ReplyDelete@GoBologna
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't have to if you already have the season pass. Go into iTunes Store, then on the right, click "Purchased". It should bring you to a page that'll allow you to download any of the purchases attached to your account.
@Daniel G.
ReplyDeleteStrangely, I don't feel quite as good about this as I was expecting. I expected to feel an enormous relief at this news, but the sudden relief may have been tempered by my expectation that everything would work out fine eventually.
*smiles* Ladies and gentlemen... we have taken one more big step to Derpy TRULY being back. The next one will be with the success of the DVD. The last tale of the tape? The Last Roundup returns to TV.
ReplyDeleteStay thirsty for ponies, my friends.
(Yes, those buttons are FANTASTIC, aren't they?)
@fad38f80-f963-11e0-97cc-000bcdcb8a73
ReplyDeleteIt's not there. And I just bought the season pass yesterday.
Well I believe this calls for a celebration.
ReplyDeleteTime to go get my massive checklist...
"I think iTunes just has a really awful turnaround time."
ReplyDelete^
I like this hypothesis. Silly iTunes...
Good to see "The Last Roundup" is back on there tho.
@Shador
ReplyDeleteYup, that's standard iTunes procedure. It's so you can add it to an iPod more easily (as iPods can't always use HD formats).
Derpy never left us but yay anyway!
ReplyDeleteVICTORY SCREECH!
ReplyDeleteHm... due to just putting 50 bucks into iTunes, I think I might make this my first purchase... and considering the only music I ever download anymore is usually remixed ponies (along with songs that are made to be free) I doubt I really need 50 bucks solely for music. Onto my 20 minutes of contemplation and deciding to make an impulse purchase!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, did anyone else notice WeLoveFine is selling EQD shirts?
ReplyDeleteAlso wish I had a spare 50 dollars to buy Season 2 on iTunes D:
I suppose this makes up for no new episode this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI think this nicely sums up the entire issue
ReplyDeleteThats strange.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's not showing up in my purchases either.
ReplyDeleteWhen I look on the store, it says I need to buy it.
AND a season pass too.
Oh, Thank Lord Smooze!
ReplyDelete@Iasius Yeah, I think they've been up since yesterday
ReplyDelete@GoBologna
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty odd. It shows up for me just fine. Perhaps give it some time, or otherwise try contacting iTunes customer service. expresslane.apple.com > iTunes > iTunes Store > Purchases ... Good luck!
@Shador
That's normal. If you buy stuff in HD, you get the SD version too. You might want to upload the SD version onto a mobile device or older iPod that can't handle the HD version, or to save space on said device. It takes up a ton of space on your computer, but it's still normal, and potentially useful.
Also, resolution isn't everything, as these files from iTunes are way higher quality than they need to be, especially compared to what's on youtube. 740MB h264, with surround sound and stereo, per episode is a little intense, especially for 720P. It scales quite nicely in my experience.
Here's hoping that Hearts and Hooves Day goes back up too!
I have a season pass, yet it's wanting me to buy this episode. Anyone else getting that?
ReplyDelete@JoeyH
ReplyDeleteYep, I sent Apple an e-mail about it.
Hopefully it gets resolved.
@fad38f80-f963-11e0-97cc-000bcdcb8a73
ReplyDeleteActually I find that resolution is a lot more important in MLP than most other shows simply because flash uses vector graphics for most things. The lines are extremely crisp and the whole picture just looks amazing. Also, in HD you see a lot more of the little details the animators put in (especially for their eyes).
Yay infinite resolution!
I'm glad this whole thing is over with.
ReplyDeleteYOU USED THE WRONG "ITS" (In all ITS Derpy glory). PLEASE REMEDY.
ReplyDeleteStrange, Hearts and Hooves day was taken down for me, but they put it back up on Monday. I've been able to see it again since the Monday after. It's still there now for me. I mean on the store and not just my library.
ReplyDeleteOh iTunes, you know not what you do.
I'm having the same problem most of you are. I knew that season pass was a bad idea. I swear, iTunes makes a good argument for just pirating stuff.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteDerpy! Oh, and Applejack.
ReplyDeleteI'd really love to know the sales figures for the first two months of this year...
ReplyDeleteIt was not hasbro , I sent a email to Itunes support and was told it was taken down due to complaints that it was inappropriate for kids.
ReplyDeleteThen I was told it would take up to 2 weeks to to be reviewed by the engineers to see if the complaint was false. They are like Youtube react first then check. I doubt I was the only one that actually bothered to ask Itune about this but they actually has a process for removing and re-instateing content based on user complaints.
As for having to pay for it even if you have a pass , who knows its 2.99 and I happily paid that even tho I have a pass. But if you contact customer service and ask nicely I am pretty sure they would refund your money.
This whole thing is a perfect example off why over reacting gets you no where but kindness will.
MY RAGE WHEREUPON I PURCHASE THE EPISODE AND IT HAS BEEN EDITED!!!!!! IF I FIND THIS ATROCITY TO BE COMMITED ON THE DVD IN 4 DAYS I WILL BE MORE UPSET THAN PINKIE AFTER A PINKIE PROMISE HAS BEEN BROKEN!!!
ReplyDeleteFinally!!! ^_^
ReplyDelete@Ariathina
ReplyDeleteI agree! I'm eagerly awaiting my DVD to ship off Amazon.com! I ordered it because it comes with the first two episodes AND Derpy's episode, and I EXPECT to see DERPY!
@TheRuggedBrony INDEED!!! WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE MY RAGE RIGHT NOW!! START EPISODE... WAITING TO HEAR THAT VOICE ONCE AGAIN TO SEND MY SMILE SOARING....WHO THE FUCK IS THIS THIS ISNT DERPY!!! YOU BASTARDS!!!!
ReplyDeleteWait, the episode was edited?
ReplyDeleteTonight, I will purchase muffins!
ReplyDeleteHOORAY FOR DERPY!
The episode has, in fact, been edited, with removal of the name "Derpy" and a new voice for our blonde pegasus.
ReplyDeleteWords cannot describe my rage right now.
Derpy's in it they just redid her voice and no mention of her name :( . Since tabitha said she derped that could of been a hasbro thing but it could just have easily been a I tunes thing >.< .
ReplyDeleteI actually am liking the new voice as its kinda pretty the removing of her actual names seems a nice compromise I will be ordering the DvD tho when I can next month.
We will know if its a fix by hasbro since tabitha derped it :p , or a edit by Itunes when it comes out.
Either way we get the episode back , we get to see and hear derpy and the small number of people that whined don't have to hear the word derp >.< .
All in all not a bad solution
@Ariathina To be fair, Derpy's voice was a mistake, remember. Her VA thought she was a boy.
ReplyDeleteWait... no... what..?
ReplyDelete@GumballCrash Calm down. Her previous voice was apparently the result of mistaken gender.
ReplyDelete@Aiyana
ReplyDeleteThe people who complained need to be banished to the sun.
...I'd do it, but we all know what'd happen to me if I even thought about doing that sort of thing.
Is there a Youtube of the "revised" episode? I can't even get the "new" version through iTunes, since I already downloaded the "original" earlier.
ReplyDelete(Derpy, sweetheart, c'mere... let's get some muffins together.)
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@SprintF Considering it just came back on Itunes I doubt it. Plus, I'm sure it's something Haasbro might crack down on, considering it would be an Itunes rip.
ReplyDeleteHasbro*
ReplyDeleteYAY BRONIES! WOOHOO! And in your face oversensitives and uptight soccer moms
ReplyDelete@Nightmare Moon
ReplyDeleteNot saying there should of ever been a compromise since the complaints were not well thought out in my mind. Just knee jerk reactions by a few uninformed people.
But for all we know hasbro took the whole fiasco as a chance to fix tabithas derp and removed derpys name just to be safe.
I personally like the new voice , the male voice just grated on me , but the new one sounds quite nice =^.^= and we all know what her real name is so. We should just enjoy it , and see if the DvD has the fix or not.
the name being removed is an atrocity in itself. the voice being a mistake was a good thing though and shouldnt have been adjusted. we loved derpy the was she was now i ask that it be fixed. return to us the chosen one to lead us to our promised wall-eyed land of muffins. i am even more mad now that watching this abomination multiple times ive spotted that her wall-eyed appearance has been edited as well in a very shoddy and half-assed manner. i am extremely dissapointed right now.
ReplyDelete@Aiyana I doubt it since the DVDs are created in advance
ReplyDelete@Ariathina The DVD is likely to be unedited so Derpy's voice and name should still be intact.
ReplyDelete@A Bard by celestia i hope so, i hope so.
ReplyDelete@Ariathina The DVDs were made in advance so there's not really a chance they'd be edited.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they put it back up, but unfortunately I have too little respect for Apple to buy them there. I want to support a good show but the way Apple abuses it's factory workers is not very in line with the show's values and I don't want to contribute to that. I hope they become available from other sources.
ReplyDelete@A Bard good point. but this whole stunt is bringing darkness to my mind. part of me wants to go cupcakes on whoever did this.
ReplyDeleteAriathina stop saying stuff that is not true , I've re watched the episode in HD on my 27 inch monitor several times now and see no editing at all. You do not get a real good look at her eyes much but I froze the frames several times and there been no editing on the DL episode , at least the HD one and the quality of the SD version is poor enough I will give you credit for making a mistake.
ReplyDeleteBut the only thing changed is the voice , people need to stop trying to be mad. They fixed her voice (which was a admitted mistake) and gave back the episode. Removing her name was a unfortunate compromise with easily offended people GET OVER IT
@Ariathina By the way which version were you watching SD or HD?
ReplyDelete@A Bard as an animator myself i can see it in both versions. the voices have only been changed. the animations for the characters speaking was left the same as the previous version. And if you run the original side by side to this you can see where Derpy's eyes have in-fact been adjusted. the wall-eyed stare is now very miniscule and only visible on a frame by frame basis. many of the original movement frames for the character have been changed to bring her eyes more into alignment. So yes i know what im talking about and have every right to be angry as any fan of one of the most beloved side-ponies should be.
ReplyDeleteJust watched the SD and wow its bad , made worse by my HD monitor >.< , I can see you thinking that but its not been edited the quality is just really bad on SD O.o . So glad I got the HD pass.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I kinda figured it'd get back on there sooner or later. All we need now is Hearts and Hooves day and my Episode gaps will be filled.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if want, will probably get the DVD when it comes out on the 28th. Worst thing though is that if they ever do make a box set, it'll probably be with the edited version, unfortunately.
ReplyDeletehttp://youtu.be/X2CRjPO73Dg
ReplyDeleteThere you go.
I can not compare them side by side but sorry I have a degree in commercial design and am college trained in flash by the same people that made nightmare before x-mas (gotta love ACC's graphics program).
ReplyDeleteI can see no sign of editing , let alone your claim its was a bad editing job. I will continue to be generous and assume your not trolling and are only seeing what you wanna see because your mad.
EVEN IF , your right the edits are so minor I can see her derp eyes watching at normal speed. She still seemed derp eyed to me and you see her eyes so briefly I doubt anyone NOT looking for issues would even notice.
@Nightmare Moon
ReplyDeleteSince most DvD sets have extras it would probably be in it , if anything to give a reason to jack the price :( .
That's if the sound edit was hasbro edit and not a I Tunes only request.
I am not and doubt I will ever (hopefully) be ashamed of this community but the tendency of a small but vocal number of people regularly jumping to conspiracy theory's and conclusions with no proof is very disappointing.
One consultation so far is we are not yet as bad as the transformer community >.< ..... Yet
Oh man, that edited. Means I'm going to double back up my Last Round Up episode now. It's vintage!
ReplyDelete@Nightmare Moon The DVD is made in advance so there's no reason why it would be edited
ReplyDelete@Nyxilis The DVD version should be intact so if you get that one you should be fine.
ReplyDelete@Aiyana You might want to double check the HD version to be sure about her eyes.
ReplyDeleteOh my god. That editing job was horrible. Was that even Ashleigh Ball voicing RD?
ReplyDeleteThe voice is basically BaldDumboRat's, which isn't...bad, per se, but both completely unfitting with Derpy's animation and poorly-acted.
I will admit to liking new Derpy's "Yay Applejack! Woohoo!" much better than old Derpy. Other than that, the whole thing was atrocious.
@UL Did she have her same eyes?
ReplyDelete@A Bard
ReplyDeleteThe Friendship Express DVDs, yes, but I said a box set, as in a full season.
Edited eyes. It's most noticeable when Derpy looks down at Dash through the hole. I didn't even have to compare it to the original to notice that they tried to straighten her eyes in that scene.
ReplyDelete@Nightmare Moon We really won't know for sure until they actually come out so I wouldn't worry too much.
ReplyDeleteComparing the two, I think her eyes were altered, as well. At least, in the scene where she drags RD down into the pit, in the original her eyes are definitely derped, while in the edit they're both straight; I haven't compared other portions of the two yet, but I think that while she does derp a bit in the edit, it's not nearly to the degree that she did in the original. Darn shame.
ReplyDeleteThe trolls won.
ReplyDeleteTerrorists threaten death upon Comedy Central and the creators of South Park for the word Mohammed.
Episode gets pulled and removed under fear of murder.
Easily offended Super-PC trolls whine about seeing something that isn't there in an episode of My Little Pony.
Episode gets edited and the biggest fan pleasing moment in the entire series gets hacked, censored and removed.
The moral of the story: Whine, and cry over nothing and throw an ignorant, uninformed little bitch fit over something you see on TV, and you can force the producers to scramble around and censor anything you want censored for no good reason, and for your one self, just to ruin everything else for millions of others.
The trolls win.
@UL HD or SD version?
ReplyDelete@NightStarX The DVD version should be fine
ReplyDeleteI E-mailed Hasbro like I'm sure most of you and Seth did. I was nice about it, and it is nice to see that Last Roundup returned to iTunes. THANK YOU HASBRO! and iTunes, QUIT MESSING WITH US BRONIES, AND POST THE EPISODES ON TIME PLEASE!
ReplyDelete@A Bard
ReplyDeleteSD. I think.
I'd hate to say "I told you so" but..
ReplyDeleteI FUCKING TOLD YOU SO. Hasbro can't be trusted in these matters at all, they just lick our butts for us to buy their fucking toys. If anything is anywhere near controversial, it's gone.
@UL Check the HD version.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletehttp://youtu.be/PkfJI3fXgXg
ReplyDeleteHere is the "original" episode, get it before its down again.
I am extremely upset over this.
ReplyDeleteWords cannot describe how immensely angry I am about this.
This is even more ludicrous and unacceptable than the South Park issue. At least there, even though it was WRONG and pretty cowardly do to, at least there, they reacted for fear of their lives.
Here, Hasbro has no excuse. They're just cowards who give into a couple of stupid whiners that had nothing better than to troll a tv show, get something completely innocent changed and completely destroy a fan-favorite character because..... two idiots looking for things that aren't there, whined and cried until they did.
This is a sad day, when on any given TV show, the precedent has now been set that any one person out there, can make drastic changes to an already completed television episode despite millions of people firmly being against the whiner.
Today, I learned that if one person cries hard enough, they can destroy something beautiful for millions of people,, simply for abusing the privilege of complaining about nothing.
@Christian The scene should still be in there unedited for the DVD version.
ReplyDeleteIll give the benefit of the doubt to Hasbro and assume Apple was the one that went through with the change, since they're the only ones that didn't withhold their censure on Derpy when the 'crisis' ended.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I might be biased since I'm already not giving them a cent for their poor, unethical practices and shoddy products, but hey, they're a good enough target alright.
Sorry but I've re-watched that scene many times now and do not notice a difference when watching at normal speed , and I've freeze framed it a bunch of times and notice no editing. Look at the part where she knocks over the pillar her eyes are clearly derped just before the scene cuts away to RD.
ReplyDeleteAll I see are a very few people complaining about something that at the very least is minor if even there .... Sound familiar.
For those that complained about how it was wrong for the original complaints are doing the same thing. As we say in Texas the pots calling the kettle black.
We got derpy back with a female voice (love or hate it your choice I hated the original voice my self) but it was a admitted mistake.
And we still "DO NOT KNOW" who or way it was pulled or edited. I was told by Itunes support it was pulled because of complaints , that could be true or maybe it was a standard answer. Since I had several friendly emails with the same girl over the course of a week about it I believe it but it still could not be true.
Even IF we get a "Official" response from hasbro or itunes there will still be conspiracy theorists that will say they are lying.
Right now all I see is a small and vocal minority whining while the rest of us just roll are eyes. And that was EXACTLY what got us in this place to begin with.
This community is supposed to be about love and tolerance and the majority are but yet again a few are not and y'all are the ones (one both sides of this argument) that are still giving bronies a bad name.
Ugh...
ReplyDeleteI hope someone uploads this edited version. I have to see this.
By the way, the DVD was produced before the "controversy"... (God, I feel stupid even referring to something this ridiculous as a "controversy")...
ReplyDeleteSo of course, it wasn't changed.
But think about it. iTunes will continue to use this edited episode, and now every single re-run of this episode on The Hub will use this edited episode.
Eventually, the true version of this episode will become rare and the edited trash will become commonplace.
There is so much unforgivable unfairness there, it hurts to even think about it.
@NightStarX The HUB still has the unedited version on their site
ReplyDeleteThe original version is also still on the Verizon Fios on demand service.
ReplyDelete@brilliantspecter
ReplyDeleteThis, I want to see this for myself so I myself can judge on these edits.
I am redownloading it in SD now to check if it's legit, I thought I got the newest version of the HD earlier on my computer when it came out, but maybe not.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone actually confirmed that the itunes version is edited? I haven't seen anyone actually do that.
ReplyDeleteA Bard: How are you accessing it? I can't see anything but the latest two episodes--although the layout of the Hubworld website has confounded me in the past, so that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
ReplyDelete@A Bard
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping this is an iTunes only thing and meeting an Apple demand, not a permanent hub change.
Either way it does bother me that the edits were made because at the end of the day it's ruining a beautiful gift from the creators to the fans.
Just backed up my episode of "The Last Round-Up" with original Derpy mention and voice. Sweet, I feel like I've got myself some rare piece of pre-war pulp paraphernalia blacklisted before the comic book code was introduced!
ReplyDeleteIf I hold onto this file, it may be worth tens of thousands in the future! Somebody notify my grandkids, their great grandbrony's gonna put them through COLLEGE!
@Inkan1969
ReplyDeleteI can confirm this, I just downloaded it from itunes.
@Jason "Njiska" Westhaver Even so, hopefully its only her voice and name that changed, considering the voice was a gender goof.
ReplyDeleteSeth, if you're handy with a video editor, please give us a side by side comparison to confirm or debunk this. I put out that offer to any other brony.
ReplyDeleteIf it's truly edited, this is the craziest censorship/edit I've ever heard of. Please say it ain't do, Hasbro! Would appreciate it if a crew member could straighten this out.
But if the edits are just for the SD version, I'll be less outraged. I watch HD only. SD is for the peasants!
I still think we should wait and see. WE still don't know if this will only apply to Itunes.
ReplyDelete@4d4f5c2a-0f40-11e1-b2f5-000bcdcb8a73 HD should make it easier to see if there is an animation change.
ReplyDeleteboth versions of mine are edited and it really seems that its a ITunes only edit. I think hasbro may have something to say about that if they were not the ones to do it.
ReplyDeleteAnd they could have done so at ITunes request just like they released the evil pink celestia at someones request like LF pointed out in her DA account.
Like it or not ITunes is a major source of income for hasbro if they say they would only show a edited version I could easily see hasbro editing for them. On the other hoof it could have been done by ITunes themselves.
Either way its a minor edit (eyes or not) to a 30 second scene they could have just cut and be done with it. Or they could of just not put the episode back.
If to many people complain and whine hasbro or itunes may just say to hay with it a delete the episode again and only those with the new DvD would ever have it.
We may whine our way into not having the episode at all. And you better believe that hasbro and studio 5 , even if they had nothing to do with this whole fiasco are gonna seriously think twice about giving fan service ever again.
My reaction in the form of a pony:
ReplyDeletehttp://youtu.be/j3wKULMllZw
(Ironically, it's from the other episode that's missing.)
@Aiyana I wouldn't worry too much about that. They've had to deal with irritated Transformers fans before.
ReplyDeleteThe big problem here is that Hasbro has remained silent. A little explanation would go a long way towards acceptance.
ReplyDelete@Aiyana
ReplyDeleteMy complaints are about this being another form of political correctness run array.
If there's one thing I can't stand, it's political correctness gone crazy, and that's pretty much the case here.
I checked the video and her eyes still seem to be there.
ReplyDelete@Jason "Njiska" Westhaver
ReplyDeleteYou can pretty much bet this new version will be the one airing on the Hub. The Last Roundup hasn't aired on tv since the original airing, even though it should have been in the regular weekday morning rotation a couple of times, now.
Apple having an issue with it wouldn't have stopped them from airing it on tv.
@Nightmare Moon I'm not too bothered by the voice change considering it was a goof the first time around.
ReplyDelete@Wildfire But it was still on the Hubworld site un edited while the Itunes one was down.
ReplyDelete@Wildfire Still too early to tell
ReplyDeleteWildfire there have been several reports of it being untouched on other official sources like hubworld. So even if this was a change done to the show by hasbro it appears to be a ITunes only one. Like bard said it was on hubworld for at least a week or two after ITunes removed it.
ReplyDelete@A Bard
ReplyDeleteTrue, but it's still odd that it hasn't been on tv at all since the first showing, so someone must have had an issue somewhere. It's the only episode that hasn't been re-aired.
I personally like the new voice, but really dislike them removing her name and "fixing" her eyes.
For those saying her eyes are the same as before, do a side-by-side of the new and old versions. You'll see the change clearly.
@Wildfire I'm pretty sure these "fixes" are largely more offensive than the original. Feels bad, bro.
ReplyDelete@Daniel G.
ReplyDeleteYeah, if Derpy was changed because people thought she was "mentally challenged", then removing a mentally challenged character from a show about love and acceptance sends the wrong message.
It's like pretending the mentally challenged don't exist at all, which is ridiculously more offensive.
So this essentially means there are two different versions of this episode both released through official channels. I actually hope a fan somewhere edits back in the part where RD calls her 'Derpy' and then has the edited voice which I think is cute. I like the original one as well though. The one thing that's for sure is this will just continue the drama over the episode which hopefully doesn't overshadow most of us just wishing to enjoy it.
ReplyDeletethis is truly terrible derpy was a symbol of hasbros connection to the brony community it was a symbol that they cared about us but it sickens me that at the first sight of complaint they would butcher the character to this extent they even underped her eyes for celestias sake
ReplyDeleteI find it kind of depressing that so many people here have a "fuck Hasbro" attitude over this.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to make a stand when you stand to lose nothing, but Hasbro must consider the market implications of everything they do. Offending people - even stupid people - can hurt sales, and a few people making a lot of noise with a "will nobody think of the children" campaign in the press can easily cause six or seven figure losses.
Lower sales mean lower takings and lower takings mean "sorry, we have to let you go" to some of the staff. It's easier for fans to get over the loss of a canon name and a pair of eyes than it is to get over a lost job. And yes, it really can get that serious when a few people with a petty grudge get the tabloids behind them. Hasbro are probably figuring that fans of MLP are more mature than a handful of people with a determination to find offence in everything. Let's not prove them wrong.
Okay...so that's settled but when do we get Hearts and Hooves day? Or are they changing Big Mac's voice too? *roll eyes*

ReplyDeleteHere's the original episode... Providing the link is still up. If it's down, just search youtube for it and specify "HD" and "Over 20 Min" for filters, then look for the episode from the results.

Here are my two favorite video capture sites.
http://clipnabber.com/clipnabber_classic.php
http://offliberty.com/
Both are AWESOME for extracting the youtube files. I use both, though I tend to use ClipNabber more for video (they give you a choice among all available formats and resolutions youtube has the video stream available in. OffLiberty tends to auto pic what's usually the highest resolution files, and sometimes throws flv files your way on lower res stuff, but it has a great MP3 extractor. I use it all the time to pull music out of PMVs for my iPod.
Save Derpy's original video, and neither Has-no-bro or Mapple Computer will be able to take true Derpy away from you.
