For those that don't follow the Nightly Roundups, a pony... dating sim is in progress. Sure it's targeting a niche group within the fandom, but they grabbed some seriously hefty talent for the voice acting. Everyone from Lauren Goodnight to BaldDumboRat will be included in the game.
After the break is their voice over promo, showing off the various ponies and their respective actors.
If you would like to join the team, hit up their sound website here!
And for the mildly curious among you, hit up their main website here.
(Update) Video embed fisxed! They also gave me some copy paste. Check both out below the break.

This sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteUm Seth where is voice over promo?
ReplyDeleteAnother Pony Game? I may give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteSo, how about that promo?
ReplyDeleteSeth. Promo, now.

ReplyDeleteHere you go.
I have nothing against Lauren Goodnight, but I just don't like her voice all that much. I don't know if it is, but it sounds a little fake and overly-pronounced. That's just my opinion though.
ReplyDeleteThis could be interesting. The Dating Sim section is one of my favorite parts of Newgrounds, the clean ones as well as the age-restricted ones. And now someone's making a pony one, and it sounds like they're putting a lot of work into it? I'll come right out and say it, I'm curious.
ReplyDeleteIt is distinctly British in sound, Rarity is a cultured Northeast accent, not Brit. That aside, I think the hardest one to get right will be RD. If that's good, I MIGHT give this a look. Though, I certainly wouldn't be looking forward to anyone else learning I had it...
ReplyDeleteMs. Sims as Twilight is pretty good, Bree is wonderful as always playing Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie, Ms. Goodnight needs to refine her accent as Rarity a LOT (hint: she's doesn't have a British accent), Rainbow and Applejack are fine.
ReplyDelete@EphemeralBlue
ReplyDeleteI agree with you there, sounds overly refined. I'd add that the Applejack voice-actor is pitched too high, and add add to what others have said: Rarity is not a Brit.
Really? *cringes* This is... er... strange.
ReplyDeleteBut don't let my disdain stop anyone, we all have sections of the fandom we love and sections we don't.
SUUM CUIQUE (to each their own)
We're so sorry, Seth screwed up. We didn't even send this.
ReplyDeleteWill Luna be an option? Please?
ReplyDelete@Blue Ace
ReplyDeleteLuna is a romantic option, yes.
As long as pony daters are treating Rarity with the respect she deserves, I have no problem with it.
ReplyDeleteI'll be tempted to play if it's a clean game.
ReplyDelete@Emil Björnfot Sorry? Should this not be here?
ReplyDeleteHm, i liked the voices.^^
ReplyDeleteI just love Bree's Pinkie. Never been interested in dating ponies, but with voice work of this quality. I might need to give it a look...KEEP SWEETIE-BOT!!
ReplyDeleteThere is no break :/
ReplyDeleteNonetheless, this looks interesting. My girlfriend plays Rainbow Dash, so that's pretty exciting
inb4 stupid comment ''facehoof''

Oh Seth, you're such a Derpy. :D
I'm 12 and what is this?
ReplyDelete*wide-eyed glee* Did someone say "casting call"!?
ReplyDelete*reviews open parts* I...can't do..any of those voices...
Yet.
Now that the video's up, I feel comfortable commenting on it. That director: love his voice. Smooth and Smarmy. "You're listening to member-supported Public Radio."
ReplyDeleteTwilight was fairly accurate, sounded maybe like a more mature version of the actual Twilight.
Pinkie and Fluttershy were of course spot on, but that's to be expected. We see her in just about everything.
Applejack and Rainbow Dash were alright, maybe they didn't have quite the right twang to them. But then, those accents are hard to pull off.
I know there's a lot of blast about Rarity's voice out there, but I don't mind the accent since it fits well with her personality. My issue is the tone seems a little subdued. A little more emphasis may help a bit. That kind of tone may work for Luna (which was great by the way), but Rarity should be a little more animated.
So there's my amateur critique. I'll accept my payments in the form of cash, all varities of cupped cakes, and mix CDs featuring the hottest artists of today.
@The Invincible
ReplyDeleteYES!! Someone who gets it! Her accent is inconsistent in the show, swinging dramatically from Northeast US to Southeast UK in just one show, let alone one season. Mine is pretty firmly settled in a region, so the people who cast me know they have a consistent voice. I love absolutely everyone in this cast, and this project is insanely exciting!
Oh god HNNNNNNNNNNNG at Derpy!!!

I lol'd
Soarin has a speaking role outside of his favorite pies?!
ReplyDeleteMy body is ready.
ReplyDelete@DustnRain
ReplyDeleteSo the writers tell me! :)
@Sonic
ReplyDeleteYes, Soarin is in this game as a possible romance option. Although he's not going to be in the beta demo he will be in the final product of the game.
So... the CMC probably aren't going to be an option for the foalicons, huh?
ReplyDelete@YouKnowWho
ReplyDeleteThe CMC is NOT a romance option.
Romance Options are:
-Mane 6
-Princess Luna
-Big Mac
-Soarin
-Great and Powerful Trixie

ReplyDeleteFantastic work on that promo! I had no intention of playing a pony dating sim, but seeing how well this was done, I may have to check it out!
ReplyDeletenice work, but the links dont seem to work..just geting a no page loading message....
ReplyDeletewhat gives?
Be interested -> see Rina-Chan is in it -> Yea no.
ReplyDelete@The Rated PonyStar
ReplyDeleteNo Spitfire?
Ah well. HELLOOOO Rainbow Dash!
I'd audition for Soarin' in a heartbeat if I had any sort of quality audio equipment...
ReplyDeleteDat shipping game.
ReplyDeleteThe voices are alright overall. But keep in mind I can be pretty picky when it comes to things of that nature. I think they're probably some of the better ones in the community though. Apart from getting actual professional VA's, which typically cost money.
Ehhhh... what? I was never embarassed about being into MLP:FiM, and that is probably odd. Yet... this... this is something I certainly feel odd about... No hate to the writers or VA's, it's potentially good work like any other, but ... why shipping?
ReplyDeleteWell, general community voice-acting has been improving, but it's still just slightly off... 0_0 It's almost like the slight differences make it all the more surreal.
ReplyDelete@smokeydops2
ReplyDeleteWell you don't have to ship with them. Half the game is playing the story while the other half is creating connections with the characters. The choice to be a friend or closer is up to you. There will be an ending for those who choose no romantic relationship.
@The Rated PonyStar
ReplyDeleteThat makes it sound much better. All the power to you guys, then!
I should add that I do hope there to be more than one ending for a pony who doesn't choose a romantic relationship.
ReplyDelete@smokeydops2
ReplyDeleteThe "endings" don't come till the fourth arc. Were currently working on arc 1 right now. Arc 1 is really all about starting a friendship with the characters while discovering who you are.
Great work on those voices! Looking forward to this game!
ReplyDeleteHowever, this being a romantic game I can't help but worry about the protagonist... Who will be the player character? Mare or stallion? OC or somepony from the show?
@Shantara
ReplyDeleteThe final product will feature you able to choose being either gender and you're an OC who's personality is based on your choices. You're also an Earth Pony with a Question Mark as a cutie mark because you have amnesia.
lol the only male in the whole game is big Mac... the rest are voiced by females.
ReplyDelete@smokeydops2I'd like to put in my opinion on the "shipping" aspects of this, since you mentioned. Personally, I see no problem with human/pony relationships as long as they stay strictly nonsexual-they're ponies, after all, and being sexually attracted to them just seems strange to me, and I know several other people find it strange as well. (No offense to the people who ARE actually attracted to them, because I know there are some people who are.) However, if a human and a pony happened to be in a relationship based not on physical attraction, but on how much they genuinely like each other as a person/pony-well, I really don't see anything wrong with that. I actually prefer to believe that there IS no sex in Equestria, and babies are just brought to parents by Iron Man or something. Or maybe just a stork. So that's my thoughts on it.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I'm totally going out with Rainbow Dash.
@The Rated PonyStar
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I had a bit of a resentment to the idea of a MLP:FIM dating sim in much of the same way I have with most kinds of shipping (Though I have nothing against those who enjoy such, it's just romance isn't my thing), but the fact that this is primarily centered around creating a connection with the characters, be it romantic (like most dating sims) or not will keep me interested in the project. When I hear word of ether Arc1 or a beta being released, you can bet I'll be giving it a try. And if there is any "slight" tweaks that might be needed (at least in my opinion at the time) I'll do my best to do my part in providing constructive criticism. Certainly looking forward to hearing more information (I'll be checking out the website after posting)
This could be fun. Would prefer a "Friendshipping" sim but I'll take whatever interaction I can get with virtual ponies considering the only other "Dating Sim" out right now is an unfinished bunch of uninspired puzzles and shitty minigames resulting in some badly animated clop scenarios (some with questionable consent) between the lecerous OC you are forced into as your avatar and the ponies.
ReplyDelete@The Rated PonyStar
ReplyDeleteGiven the large number of popular ships in fandom, this sounds like a best solution. Out of curiosity, do you have any gender-specific dialogue or endings planned?
Good luck with this project! I'll definitely play the game when it comes out.
@Shantara
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you without spoiling some parts of the game.
... with all of this talk, it sounds like the project would have done better by simply going straight for "friendshipping".
ReplyDeleteI shall quietly lurk from here on out.
Oh god... I might have to try this. Now that I think about it, the Mane 6 have the perfect personalities to be possible girls in a dating sim. This should be interesting. Very good job on the Fluttershy, Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie, by the way. Ashleigh Ball's characters could use a little work though, and I've yet to hear anypony who can imitate Rarity with the same sort of elegance in which Tabitha voices her. Good job, nonetheless, and I can't wait to see the finished product.
ReplyDelete@Lauren G
ReplyDeleteHi Lauren. I'm glad you're excited about this, and I do appreciate where you're coming from. I agree that Tabitha's accent varies quite a bit, but she very rarely, if ever, falls into anything resembling any variation on a British accent. That's why your Rarity, who is from London apparently, is just not working for me. I took enough linguistics classes back in college to recognize the difference, but other fans' mileage may vary.

ReplyDeleteMissing Person's Not Ponies
ReplyDelete@The Rated PonyStar I'm assuming from your comments that you're very closely involved in this project, so expect a Soarin audition from me soon. This sounds like a lot of fun, and a good opportunity to put my new equipment to good use.
ReplyDelete(deleted previous comment because the reply part didn't work right. Sorry)
@ponydoraprancypants
ReplyDeleteThink of a cross between Vivian Leigh from Gone With the Wind and Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
@Cesar
ReplyDeleteThanks. And yes. I am the Head Writer, Main Story Writer, and Luna Writer for the game.
Because my previous comment didn't really convey it, I would like to explicitly state that I am extremely excited for this game!
ReplyDelete@ponydoraprancypants
ReplyDeleteI understand your opinion, and having lived and/or worked in both places, I have a unique perspective on the mixed accent. I'm very sorry that the voice doesn't please you, but I can't please everypony, only my directors and the majority. I do hope you'll still give the game a try when it drops! Thank you for your continued input!
@The Rated PonyStar
ReplyDeleteAs a Visual Novel expert (not really) and a person who probably should not think about stuff like this but does it anyway because it's fun, I feel compelled to ask: Is it possible to have romantic relationships with more than one character at the same time?
Because Harem Ending is Hilarious Ending. Both have the same initials! 'Tis more than a simple coincidence!
@Etherdrone
ReplyDeleteAt this moment we have no plans for a Harem ending.
I agree, with this type of game, you ALWAYS shoot for the Harem Ending. I know this might not be that type of game, per se, but whatever the equivalent term is.
ReplyDeleteSinging Ood, Weeping Pegasi Statues, some one on the development team is a Whovian.
ReplyDeleteI really haven't seen enough yet to make a judgement. Could be awesome, could be terrible; it all depends on the writing, which I really can't judge based on promos and such early material. Some of the choices seem a bit odd, though, like Trixie having a large enough role to be a romance option, but that's just personal taste. I'll keep a close eye on it for now. As for the voices; I really couldn't care less. I'll probably just turn them off, seeing how none of them except Bree Faith truly sound like the character.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm sure Sethisto was thrilled to hear this game will enable him to be "in lesbians" with Trixie :P
Fair enough! However, I'll be honest and say that despite finding Harem Endings quite hilarious, actually doing it makes me feel... Less honest with myself, I guess? Because people are way more complicated than that...?
ReplyDeleteI would definitely not mind "single only" romances at all, since I do believe they work better on their own if you want actual writing and character to drive the story forward, and thus they resonate much strongly than a single-minded "I Get All The Flanks!" story. It makes you feel more invested in the characters, you know? Hehehe!
And on a side note, I'm loving the voices! I know that replicating voices from the show is really hard, so what you all have been doing so far is impressive! The Etherdrone likes it!
singing Ood, and weeping pegasi statues... really Dr who enough
ReplyDeleteDating Sim, eh? Well that's bold, all luck to dev team.
ReplyDeleteSadly, fanmade sims (the better ones) all try to rip off True Love game mechanics, but always fall short. Now that was a dating sim.
Hey, a crazy idea for a sim: the ultimate objective is to sire alicorn! And raise her to be princess. Oh wait, now I'm confusing this with Princess Maker...
I was not a... space pony. I was merely a pony in space.
ReplyDeleteWow... That was just great 8D
awww.. no sweetie bot?
eh, this looks interesting :D I don't usually play dating sims, but this is ponies :D
I am horrified and appalled.
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding a pony dating sim
ReplyDeleteThis is well a bit far in my case
A pony dating sim/visual novel? Not sure if want.
ReplyDeleteThen again, I'm not the best person to ask about this sort of thing, since the only one I've ever read/played is "Katawa Shoujo" (yes, that one about girls with disabilities).
@Starwirl the Bearded
ReplyDeletewhy?
HAHAHAA, Dam this made me laugh so hard. And the Sweetie bot from FiW! Awesome. Just fanstastic. I NEED TO PLAY THIS GAME. Well, for fun of course. >:D
ReplyDeleteWhat I love about dating sims, is that it's one of the few genres where the objective is not to win the game, but just to play it as yourself. Yeah, you could try a bunch of answers to try to get the best ending, but I usually end up feeling bad for lying to myself. It's like one big elaborate personality quiz.
ReplyDeleteDon't care if it's a dating sim or not, it sounds like an awesome story and wonderful voice acting! I'll totally play this!
ReplyDeleteI am confused and aroused at the same time...
ReplyDeleteI will probably play this. As long as it's not one of the dating sims where you just buy endless amounts of gifts and remember arbitrary answers. Also I think I would probably die if it was R34.
ReplyDelete@suika2344
ReplyDeletePony dating sim? Embodies everything that is wrong within the community (that isn't to say there is a lot wrong with it, for it is amazing).
I do not approve, even if the voice actors/actresses are very talented.
@Starwirl the Bearded
ReplyDeletehater gonna hate
let me guess you are one of the fucktard who downrate every shipping story right?
Attack of the Radioactive Hamsters from a Planet Near Mars, OBLIGATORY WEIRD AL REFERENCE! YES!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL I love the Doctor Who references crying Ood and Weeping Pegasi (Angles) XD
ReplyDelete>Missing Ponies
ReplyDeleteThis is... hm. Could certainly be cute and fun if handled respectfully to the characters. Also, dat voice acting! Great all around. Not all of it was spot on, but you can't realistically expect perfect/near perfect copies of the official actors. Twi was slightly different but 100% recognizable, Rarity was a little heavy on the accent but since her accent does waiver in the show it's fine (Since she is native to Ponyville yet has a different accent than other locals I assumed she trained herself to speak more Canterlot-y), Luna was great in a normal speaking volume, and despite being ok with Derpy's canon voice I'm happy BaldDumboRat is doing her signature Derpy for the game.
Oh, and the director does an awesome Gaben style narration. I half expected him to end with "...and my favorite class is the Spy".
Sweetie Bot is Best Pony
ReplyDeleteSucks, the only voice i can do would have been Big Mac, I used to be able to do tails from Sonic X, but now my voice got too deep but hey, of you guys need a decent villain voice look me up!
ReplyDeletegreat potential and consistency! definitely made it more enjoyable.http://www.samplelettertemplates.com/promotion-letters/letter-of-intent-for-promotion.html/
ReplyDelete
