With all this talk of Jim Miller floating around from our recent Twitter plugs, a bit more storyboarder information is more than welcome!
Mutating Raven over on Deviant Art recently dropped this really interesting look at the different people working on each episode. I'm sure everyone has their own favorite, so it's nice to finally toss some names into the mix for each of them!
Below the break, you will find both season one, and up to A Friend Indeed" for season two, along with each of the story boarders that worked on their respective episodes.
SEASON ONE
Alright so here's the list for season 1. I'm not sure how they directorial duties were distributed since Lauren was still in the mix, so here's *just* the board artists. As I've stated before, season 2 was done with 1 lead storyboard artist and 1 junior artist paired together. The idea being to give the episodes more cohesion (I think.. Don't quote me!)

ReplyDeleteYay, more names to add to the list of people who make this show SO AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteEpisodes 27 and 28, The Seeds of Chaos.
ReplyDeletePrior to this, we had another storyboard artist saying that he just drew the most disturbing thing he had ever seen in a cartoon in his life.
. . .
Am I the only one freaking out for the season finale or what?
@Travis Smith the Shadowbolt
ReplyDeleteSonic Rainboom, huh? Heck, I was going to comment that first! But you're a Shadowbolt... just too fast for me, I guess.
But wow, there are sure lots of new names for me to add on my personal heroes list! Thank you for making this show so awesome!
Thankyou for this very useful info :)
ReplyDeleteI see something went down on this post.
ReplyDelete@Rafasde
Well it is my favorite still next to Luna Eclipsed
Wow. So many thank you's to pass around. Every one of these people are definitely deserving of some form of recognition. Can't have an awesome show with awesome people working the storyboards.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Sabrina Alberghetti and Nicole Wang deserve quite a lot of thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat everyone is thinking
ReplyDeleteThank you to all of the great artists and writers of this amazing show, every single one!
@James Corck
ReplyDeleteI'm freaking out in a good way, if that's what you mean. Maybe we'll see some *buy some apples* *buy some apples* Princess Cadence *buy some apples* *buy some apples* Shining Armor *buy some apples* trapeze.
I know I'd definitely be giving thanks to Raven Molisee & Nicole Wang. Lesson Zero is what brought me here. So by extension, they brought me here as well. If you guys see this, many many many many thanks for putting together one of my absolute favorite episodes.
ReplyDelete"Indeed MLP is a way of life, it teaches us about friendship and moral values, how to love and tolerate; the basic rules of life."

@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteGood way! Good way!
All my fears towards the finale are gone. I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm also keeping my enthusiasm down. You know what happens if we overhype stuff.
I appreciate the writers for their hard work in bringing us this wonderful show
ReplyDeletethose artists are quite... artistic
ReplyDelete@James Corck
ReplyDeleteYeah, I believe we're all very familiar with the consequences of overhyping.
We'll see what happens when the finale airs, and whatever happens, it will be glorious.
Aww, even gave the Revision Team a mention. that's nice. :) I see some names what be familiar. lol
ReplyDelete@Octavia
ReplyDeleteAnswer me, please.
Heroes, fillies and gentlecolts. These men and women are heroes. A hearty salute to them all!
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502 A little odd to hear that, considering how polarizing the episode seemed to be
ReplyDelete@11Bolts
ReplyDeleteHmm?
@James Corck I'm freaking out too
ReplyDelete@James Corck
ReplyDeleteI do believe that "Seeds of chaos" was the older name for the Discord episode, alas the finale of season 1. However, I might be wrong!
@Octavia
ReplyDeleteWell, the only reason why i'd like to talk to you was really because Octavia is my favorite pony.
I'd just like to say that, music is also a hobby for me (and I'm writing a fic about Octavia) so I found the you could say... urge to have a conversation with you.
ReplyDeleteI nofixed the same two people made Mare Do Well and The Last Roundup their skills greatly increased not to say I didn't like Mare Do Well but The Last Roundup is really awesome!!
ReplyDeleteHa! I knew Sibsy was best pony. She's worked on many of the best ones, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteKenny Park's my man. I like the episodes he worked on more than the average ep.
ReplyDelete@11Bolts
ReplyDelete@11Bolts
Aww, that's sweet. I'm glad she's your favorite. :>
And music is a great hobby. One of mine too, but I guess that's easily guessed. lol

ReplyDeleteTo confirm, this is actually legit, right?
ReplyDeleteDHX should update the credits for each episode. I'm pretty sure they use the same credits screen every episode and hence we don't get to see the storyboard artists and other crew properly acknowledged.
I guess Cindy Morrow is only writing for the show. She also did write and storyboarded episodes for Powerpuff Girls back in the day. Probably a location issue.
call me crazy, but doesn't Daniel Ingram write the songs?
ReplyDeleteReading the title of this post I thought one of the storyboard artists for FiM had a breakdown
ReplyDeleteSo now I know that I love the work of Kenny Park and Marshall Fels Elliot! Kudos to you guys!
ReplyDelete@professional brony
ReplyDeleteDaniel Ingram (along with his two lesser-known people which I can't recall their names) receive the lyrics from the writers who wrote the episodes. Ingram was tasked to making the lyrics work with the instruments he laid down (with minor tweaks to the lyrics of course to make it fit better).
It's a pretty common misconception that Daniel Ingram gets all the credit; but I think we should thank the writers as well as Daniel Ingram and his assistants for their hard work.
Sherann Johnson, Nicole Wang and Kenny Park: Many thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks to all the others as well!
Tom Sales is my boy. Worked on all the Pinkie Pie episodes.
ReplyDeleteThe way this post is worded made me think that the storyboard artists had breakdown.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I thought some artists were upset over something.
ReplyDeleteI just want to offer my thanks to the wonderful staff of FIM if any of you are reading this, if not I still offer my thanks for your efforts towards making this such an awesome show
ReplyDeleteJust a nit-pick: Elliott is spelled with two Ts.
ReplyDeleteLet's see... I've met Jim, Tom, and Scott in person and I think I've met Raven and Joel in person when they were back at AKA working on Ed, Edd 'n Eddy.
ReplyDeleteA massive thanks to all members of staff who make FiM possible. Without the storyboard artists and writers hardwork it wouldn't be what it is today, so thank you :)
ReplyDeleteSo many bodies working very hard to bring we delighted fans such an inspiring, provocative show. Though this phenomenon isn't isolated to just ponies, as history & current events prove, there is a decidedly creative current that binds us all through the magic that is friendship. Is it so implausible that perhaps, via minority, we rally behind this simple idea to prove that love, compassion and sacrifice aren't solely accepted for needless lucrative notions? That perhaps, just perhaps, we're ready to grasp an entirely selfless method? That perhaps, just perhaps, we're welcome to an entirely giving mindset? Not sacrificial, but allowing and subsequently forgiving? Dare I say, kind and gentle AND completely aware? Oh, blasphemous. Oh, idealist.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful.
If a bit contradictory. I'm passionate and tired - nyeh.
ReplyDeleteWow cool. Not sure what else to say.
ReplyDeleteI hope they don't mind being swamped by fans because of this.
I remember Raven Mollisee's art from WAY back when she was just starting to post online in the late '90s. She's come a long way... if only I could have come that far.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read the title I thought storyboard artists for MLP FiM are having mental breakdown.... good thing it's a different kind of break down.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to finally know who did what!
ReplyDeleteInterestingly enough, there are couple of artists who never received screen credit at all, even in the group credits.
One of them being Scott Jeralds, who is actually based in USA, having worked for Hanna-Barbera since the mid 1980s. I'm guessing that one episode he did was a freelance.
I've never heard of any of these people, but I'm nevertheless thankful for the work they did to create this show.
ReplyDelete@Ryan
ReplyDeleteActually, this post is just covering the storyboarders for the eps, not the writers. The "song by" references in that list indicate who did the storyboarding for those songs.
