Looks like the extended theme has popped up on Youtube. Apparently Kmart gave out the Friendship Express DVD early, at least that's what people have been telling us all day. You might want to check your nearby stores if they are still open.
Enjoy the puns!

YESSSSS *now puts on loop* My night is complete...
ReplyDeleteYES! Well done Seth!
ReplyDeleteThis song is boss.
ReplyDeleteShould I watch it?
ReplyDeleteAw shiet
ReplyDeleteSo Kmart IS good for something!
ReplyDeleteYES!!
ReplyDelete...is it bad that I like the Italian better, even though I don't speak a lick of Italian?
ReplyDeleteAw, what the hay! I'm celebrating three months of pony. Why not rock out with the extended theme!
ReplyDeleteSO MANY PUNS!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso this version is actually quite nice. I like it more then the one we have atm. I wouldn't want it to be part of the show though, it would shorten it too much...
I GOT CHILLS
ReplyDeleteMy name is Stormcaller, and I approve this message.
ReplyDeleteCool. Going to wait till my DVD arrives before I watch, though.
ReplyDeletePurchase confirmed. Support Derpy, obtain punny extended opening.
ReplyDeleteMind=Blown That was awesome! I loved how each character got their own part in the song!
ReplyDeleteSo...damn...punny
ReplyDeleteSeems legit
ReplyDeleteSo freaking awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteSO MANY PUNS
ReplyDeletethe friendship is reaching critical mass. abort. abort. HNNNNNNGGGGG
ReplyDeleteThat was all kinds of adorable.
ReplyDeleteHa! That was painfully punny, but I still grinned. But... not Twilight pun? I guess since she was supposed to be the singer she couldn't work one in about herself...
ReplyDeleteThe puns. They hurt.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping AllLevelsAtOnce does a cover of the full song, like they did with the 30-second snippet that got released with the Twilight plush.
The Italian opening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dchiYx5Hzo
ReplyDeleteYou know, some of the lyrics could apply to a person who had no friends, but then they joined the herd and now have a lot of friends
ReplyDeleteDamn, these beats are FRESH. SSSSSSSSSSSSSNAP.
ReplyDeleteI have trouble believing this... something feels off about it. oh well, real or not it's an awesome song
ReplyDeleteYAY RARITY NAME PUN
ReplyDeleteI must say, it's very cute for a kids show. It sucks that many brony musicians that would use lyrics on par to this.
D'AWWWWWWW~!
ReplyDelete...Can't believe I'm saying this - But... That sucked!
ReplyDeleteThat was really nice. I liked it.:)
ReplyDelete@Mr.Darkboy2010
ReplyDeleteRemember that EqD already received the DVD already, earlier in the week, and Seth wouldn't have posted it if it wasn't legit.
Calling all musical bronies, DO YOU HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO REMIX THIS?!
ReplyDeleteTHE PUNZ!!!
ReplyDeleteThat was kind of shitty.
ReplyDeleteI'll just stick to the TV length opening.
Those puns are amazing.
ReplyDeleteMUCH WIN WAS HAD THIS DAY!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap that was awesome. The Fluttershy bit was particularly sweet, considering there's a fanfic named that (sorta).
ReplyDeleteOK, definitely agree about the puns and such. But this was pretty good. I'm surprised they didn't work in the intro we usually hear at the beginning of each episode. But it was still enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI cried from sheer awesome... My life is now complete.
ReplyDeleteDAMM THIS IS AWESOME
ReplyDeleteGood things: Smart lyrics, good song
ReplyDeleteBad things: No other solo voices
Wow it's awesome
ReplyDeleteVideo Preview: You're the Applejack of my Eye
ReplyDeleteMe: giggle

Me: Wait, What? That doesn't even make sense.
I was not ready for all of the puns
ReplyDeleteAlso, does anyone else hear vibes of Winter Wrap Up in the tune?
ReplyDeleteAwesome! BUT, where were the other ponies' lyrics?
ReplyDeleteYes! Finally!
ReplyDeleteDidn't really care much for this version. It's poorly edited, sounds like something that was thrown together as a mishmash at points. With the overproduced and under-harmonized second season intro, the first season theme remains supreme.
ReplyDeleteTHE PUNS OH MY GOSH THE PUNS AWESOME
ReplyDeleteSo can someone who got this absolutely confirm that Derpy is untouched? I'm still paranoid.
ReplyDeleteIt's goods.
ReplyDeleteNeeds a bit more work and refinement though.
@Blayze Kohime
ReplyDeleteShe's untouched. Seth confirmed this when I e-mailed him about that picture that went up on the Derpy post.
Yes.
ReplyDeleteYES!
Ok, I think this swayed me into picking up the dvd. Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteDid Suited for Success teach you people nothing? Stop complaining and don't look a gift horse in the mouth. That's how we lost Derpy.
ReplyDelete@TechnoTrot Yup. Definitely heard some cues from Winter Wrap Up. Or it could have been the other way around. Either way, the resemblance is uncanny.
ReplyDeleteWas I the only one to get a "Help!" (the Beatles) vibe from around 0:22?
ReplyDeletethis is the greatest thing ever.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about this. But for all that, I used to hate the opening, period. And I didn't like ponies. And I didn't brush manes. So what the hay! ^^
ReplyDeleteBut is the the video we will see? It didn't mesh well, IMHO, at least as far as official images should go. :) I wasn't gonna get the DVD, but I suppose I will now. Getting so exited! *yay*
I got about half-way through before I wondered how much Daniel Ingram was involved in this.
ReplyDelete"Once smitten," the lyric while Twilight and Celestia are hugging on screen.
ReplyDeleteTwilestia confirmed! You cannot deny!
it's cute but I have to say I vastly prefer the short version
ReplyDelete@Blayze Kohime
ReplyDeleteShe is perfectly intact in the one we received, and i doubt they changed her a week before distributing them to the masses.
I definitely love this! Its amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteI got the 'This is the last thing you'll see on the series finale' feel. Now I'm sad.
ReplyDeleteStill, pretty cool. : )
No week that starts with this can be a bad week. Looking forward to the seven days ahead!
ReplyDeleteNow I don't want it to end at season 100.
ReplyDeleteDis so silly!
ReplyDeleteNow weeping because of such beautiful feelings inside.
ReplyDeleteI want to complain about how there is a serious lack of meshing and it altogether sounds awkward, but my goosebumps and smile won't let me.
ReplyDeleteFor those who don't like this song...Are you or are you not wearing headphones?
ReplyDeleteWow its one of those things where its really chessy but it works. The puns were pretty glorious though.
ReplyDeleteI like it, though yes, it does need polish. I think this version of the theme was made a long time ago, even before the incarnation that made it to the show.
ReplyDeleteIt just needs some refinement--but even if its' never changed, it's going straight into my ipod.
Hahaha, I love how 'and you all make fun and laughter!' is sang in tune with Giggle at the Ghostie :D
ReplyDelete@Sethisto Didn't this exact song play on that little Twilight Sparkle plushie that was posted on Equestria Daily many months back?
ReplyDeleteThis makes up for not having an episode today. I am no longer sad
ReplyDelete@RaccoonBL
ReplyDeletewell, i don't, but i think i just miss the other ponies singing too
*wipes away tear*
ReplyDeleteThat was beautiful...
Words can't even begin to describe this.
Well... that was quite punny.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I am so editing that in as the intro to all of my copies of Season 1 episodes.
ReplyDeleteI exploded..... thrice
ReplyDeleteI exploded..... thrice
ReplyDeleteepic :D
ReplyDelete@naahdude
ReplyDelete... *replay* YOU'RE RIGHT!! D8
This makes up for not having an episode today. I am no longer sad
ReplyDeleteThey will play this song in the final minutes of the final episode.
ReplyDeleteI now fear that day more than I fear death.
Because on that day, my eyes will bleed tears and my heart will explode twice.
It's...it's.....Glorious!
ReplyDelete"When danger makes me want to hide, you'll Rainbow Dash to my side"
ReplyDeleteI found this pun the best.
I can't even begin to say how much I liked it. But I did.
ReplyDeleteI was sad when I found out there was no episode.
ReplyDeleteBut then THIS happened! This most defiantly made my weekend!
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteHoly moley, this is awesome!
ReplyDeleteOh my god AWESOME!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYESSSSS!!!!! FINALLY!
ReplyDeleteSounded like G3 at the beginning, but anyway, the song was good :)
ReplyDeleteReminded me of season 1 alot. Freaking Amazing
ReplyDeleteHello, Italy? Yeah, forget your intro, we have one that is better.
ReplyDeleteYESSSSS!!!!! FINALLY!
ReplyDeleteThese lyrics, I don't know if they are hilariously cheesy or hilariously clever. But I like them
ReplyDelete@Mattatatta
ReplyDeleteActually i still like the italian intro more but that doesnt mean this one isnt awesome
THe puns...they're so bad...yet I love them so much...
ReplyDeleteWHY CAN'T I EXPRESS ALL THESE FEELS?
Seriously. I've been in a shitty mood for the last 26 hours, and now I'm smiling so hard there's a tear threatening to spill from my right eye.
SO MUCH LOVE. SO MUCH FRIENDSHIP. SO MUCH SQUEEING TO BE HAD.
@Mattatatta /)
ReplyDeleteThis one is so much better than the opening theme we have right now. :D
This is amazing! Bronies every where we need this to play during the season Finally! Somebody set up a pole!
ReplyDeletei was looking for pony injection... um, overdose... i've died... i'm dead... congrats studio B, you've killed me.
ReplyDeleteThe ups and downs that we go through in this fandom... it's all worth it in the end.
ReplyDelete@RaccoonBL
ReplyDeleteI... wasn't expecting headphones to make that much of a difference, but yes, this is much better with them. (I mean, I liked it without them, but with them...)
Oh nice! And I live right next to kmart too! *looks at clock* NOOO!!!!
ReplyDeleteAll of those puns gave me the greatest cancer.
ReplyDeleteThese aren't your DAD'S PUNS, these are PONY PUNS!
ReplyDeleteI want that DVD so bad right now. There aren't any Kmarts within reasonable driving distance. D:
ReplyDeleteOh my Celestia that was awesome. I live somewhat close to Kmart, too!
ReplyDeleteSo much like G1 and G1 mlp tales themes...I love it!
ReplyDeleteOh, those silly puns. I do love me some silly puns in songs. And what's better is it's a genuinely very sweet and fun song to both listen to and sing. :)
ReplyDeleteThe intro always struck me as the least enjoyable part of the show. This is more schmaltzy than the basic version, so I have to say I am not getting much out of this.
ReplyDeleteHappy for people who get a big kick out of it though!
also, just thought i'd point out: there's a typo in the lyrics. It says "as spendid summer skies" instead of "splendid".
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see Hasbro is keeping up that same great quality control on their producs.
This. Is. So. Amazing. It's so cute and silly and corny and dumb and adorable and PERFECT.
ReplyDeleteThe cheese, its glorious.
ReplyDelete@NDupree93
ReplyDeleteI noticed this, too. I wonder if this is the sing-a-long version Hasbro made for the DVD or if this is the introduction and whoever put it on YouTube made it sing-a-long? I'm hoping for the latter ..
Day that has really sucked + this song = a pretty great day after all. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed that immensely.
ReplyDeleteI think the only thing better than this intro is the fact that so many of us are so happy right now. I think no matter what curveballs get thrown at us, we can always find a new reason to smile.
ReplyDeleteI guess tomorrow I'll be heading down to the last K-Mart still open in the city to see if I can find a copy then.
ReplyDeleteThe extended opening isn't as well polished as the one we currently have, but I'd guess that's because they couldn't afford to spend that much time and energy on just a DVD extra. I still enjoyed it all the same, although the Fluttershy pun made me wince. (We need Spike to help out, he's good with working with the names of the ponies.)
Italian opening.
ReplyDeleteIs best opening
OH GOD THE PUNS. Also, THE EPICNESS! It's in english this time!
ReplyDeleteNot as good as the Italian opening, but still pretty cool to see. Also, if Daniel wrote those puns, in spite of everything he's done, my opinion of him has just gone down a notch. Ouch.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see that FIM is following in the tradition of so many great shows by having a longer "CD version" theme song. Some of my all time favorites had full-length themes like that.
ReplyDeleteNowi gota remember this song to! Great.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll be honest...I didn't like that.
ReplyDeleteThe beginning lyrics sounded incredibly forced, and it just felt kind of...lame.
However, the puns were fantastic, and for some reason, I started singing Winter Wrap-Up along with it. Is that weird?
Its decent. That video seems a little halfhearted. Would it be wrong to make a PMV of this song that's hopefully a little better than what this video is?
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible.
ReplyDeleteLooooooooooove it <3
@Tylendal
ReplyDeleteDaniel doesn't write the lyrics for most of the songs (he's implied that he may have for a couple of the later ones, but definitely not the earliest few), so your opinion of him is save :)
I'm not kidding. This brought tears to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteTsst, Hehehe. It sucks!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy little pony my little pony
ReplyDeleteahhhhhhahhhhhhhahhhhhhahhhhhh
*goes through whole long version*
Friennnnnnnnnnnds!
Me: Great, now they cut 2 WHOLE MINUTES off airing. What's next? calling Twilight Sparkle Dusk Shine?
JK
Confound the Italian version, still gets me every time. We need an English version, and we need it for season three....
ReplyDelete...Oh right this is cool too.
LOOP IT!!!
ReplyDelete@SaphireOceansAnd then you were questioning your sexuality.
ReplyDeleteSurprised to hear that some of you guys are disappointed. Remember Suited for Success? Maybe we should actually take into consideration the lessons from the episodes we love so much.
ReplyDeleteYou weren't lying about those puns. Sure none of them were as deliciously terrible as Trixie's "NEEEEEIIIIIIGH-sayer," but they're probably up there.
ReplyDeleteIt's so cheesy, it's awesome.
ReplyDelete@730Flare
ReplyDeleteHaha dude, relax. No one's actually raged against it or anything, just thought it was a bit cheesy. And it is.
Like hell it's cheesy.
ReplyDeleteI'm tearing up over here.
@naahdude
ReplyDeleteIt's homo.
I have to agree with a couple of other comments here. The lyrics sounded forced, and it just felt long. It's just not as exciting as the Italian opening, but it is as long. I think if they aired this I would just be wishing that they would finish it and get to the show, especially after a full minute of it.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I like this.
ReplyDeletehttp://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/085/444/1282786204310.jpg?1318992465
ReplyDeletePretty much my reaction.
Yeah, it's cheesy, but WHAT PART OF THIS SHOW ISN'T?! Isn't that all part of the charm? I love it!
Erm, I really like its mane?
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, I thought it was really good. Yes it was long and drawn out, but aren't most extended versions of things? Hence them being called extended...
I just know my voice will go HORSE from singing it do much!
@AlexReffand
ReplyDeleteThe charm is your homosexuality.
I'm now in tears. OH MY GOD THOSE PUNS <333333333333333333
ReplyDeleteThere was no episode, but this definitely made up for it! I am shooting rainbows out of my tear ducts right now!
ReplyDeleteI failed at spelling a two letter word, I can actually feel my eyes derping
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mediafire.com/file/bdadg0y6ac1hx4y/My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Extended Introduction.mp3
ReplyDeleteCan someone explain to me why people are becoming emotional to this?
ReplyDeleteLOL people are complaining that an extended song is extended.
ReplyDeleteBronies.
Manliness upgrade!
ReplyDeleteThis is....not very good.
ReplyDeleteIt was kind of funny and cute but nothing makes up for the fact that they edited Derpy. That made me extra sad today.
ReplyDelete@TechnoTrot
ReplyDeleteYes. Also the puns/intros reminded me the old Ninja Turtles theme. "Celestia taught them, to be magic friends (Shes a radical royal!). Twilight Sparkle leads, Applejack does farm machines (plows, like, count, Jack!). Rarity is cool, not rude (give me a break). Dash and Pinkie Pie are some party dudes. MLP: Friendship is Magic (x3). Also Fluttershy's there, her and Derpy!"
Or maybe Tiny Toons, but I don't think I'm gonna write that one.
sorry, The standard TV opening is already terrible enough as is. This is just extra two minutes of extended ear rambling.
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it but i never really liked the Intro... but... wow. That was really good. Not as good as the Italian Intro though. I liked this one and I Think that they should use that intro at least once before season two ends. {I have no Idea if anyone said this... didn't look at the rest of the thread.}
ReplyDeleteI'd post this on the latest Nightly Roundup, but the comments are broken or something and the comment box doesn't actually exist there.
ReplyDeleteAnyway.
Seth, you really need to get better at counting. That's the second Nightly Roundup #250 in a row.
Fuck you guys, This song is fucking awesome! But I do like the Italian version better.
ReplyDeleteWow guys, all the negative comments surprised me...
ReplyDeletePersonally i GREATLY enjoyed it, and am about to listen do in for an unknown amount of times.
OMG those puns! I was laughing for a good five minutes after that. It was okay but i still prefer the shorter one. This one just doesn't seem to flow right considering how extended intros usually are. Not a bad song, just not my thing.
ReplyDeleteOkay computer, *cracks knuckles* Its just you, me, and a whole lotta puns.
ReplyDeleteLETS GET REMIXING!
I think why I really like this song, is because the music is kind of similar to Winter Wrap Up. Lol.
ReplyDeleteWow guys, all the negative comments surprised me...
ReplyDeletePersonally i GREATLY enjoyed it, and am about to listen do in for an unknown amount of times.
@skyetenshi
ReplyDeleteTheres a song called "Rainbow Dash Likes Girls" that combines them, and switches between both quite a lot, and pretty successfully.
You may not realize it at first, but Winter wrap-up and the Theme song are almost identical in rhythm and scale, you could play the melodies one after the other and the average non-brony probably couldnt tell that they werent just one song
That was certainly better than I was expecting. The musical arrangement certainly adds to it. Two hooves up!
ReplyDeleteOf course, as others are saying, it's still not quite the Italian theme. Suitably Pony, yet epic enough that you almost expect it to be played during the series finale as the climactic showdown reaches its Gainax Ending conclusion.
Still: Those puns. Those terrible, wonderful puns. I fully approve.
@UC77
ReplyDeleteNice random Fensler ref there.
Well we didn't get a new episode this week so we've got atleast something to hang on to. I feel like singing along with the music.
ReplyDeleteYou know...if they shortened the commercial break that usually happens after the theme they could show the extended one.
ReplyDeleteShame it won't happen but it would be nice to see once on air anyway.
Love it.
ReplyDeletehttp://youtu.be/y97MpWU8-yE
ReplyDeleteLul I sound tired.
wow this reminded me just why I love my little pony friendship is magic so much :).
ReplyDeleteThat was all kinds of awesome, and the PUNS!
ReplyDeleteNow that is a theme song!
Extended intro, like a friend!
ReplyDeleteIt was kinda lame. Yeah puns are good, but overall it lacks energy for a two-minute song, and feels repetitive.
ReplyDeleteDanced to it. Feels GOOD.
ReplyDeletethe puns made it extra awesome :D
ReplyDeleteYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
ReplyDeleteThe puns are better than 'Rainbow Dash always dresses in style' in the previous gen's theme, amirite?
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing this out Seth, can you post the lyrics to the song please? Thank you.
ReplyDeleteExtended version is pretty good
ReplyDeleteI for one, did not enjoy the opening theme song.
ReplyDeleteThis extended version? 10/10.
The extended intro sounds great! They did not merely made it longer, like many other shows do, but actually made it better!
ReplyDeletenot bad
ReplyDeleteSo many PUNS!
ReplyDeletePuntastic.
ReplyDeleteawesome 6_9
ReplyDeleteThose extra lyrics, my body wasn't ready.
ReplyDelete5 minutes after first seeing:
ReplyDeleteLyrics Learned off by heart
Put onto Phone's MP3 Player :D
To sum this up in 1 word: EPIC!
If the world were nachos, this would cover it in cheese.
ReplyDeleteDamn, I love it.
That... was... Awesome.
ReplyDelete*squees* I was right! The full 2-minute version DOES have the extra line from the Twilight Sparkle toy! And it is two minutes long like that one YT comment I saw said!
ReplyDeleteAND I LOVE IT!
I wish that it had the part that's at the end of the regular theme though... but still, this made my weekend!
I will be going down to Starbucks later to download this.
ReplyDeleteDAMN YOU DIAL UP INTERNET!!!
Wow... I've been eagerly awaiting the release of this ever since it was announced. And man did it not disappoint.
ReplyDeleteAnd TO THE MOON! with any NEIGH-sayers who don't like puns. They're the language equivalent of gems that shimmer and Twilight Sparkle.
This was every bit as beautiful and heart-warming as I wanted it to be.
ReplyDelete
