Here's something fun for you guys to discuss- personally I'm rather interested in what you all think, because I've been mulling over this one for a bit.
Let's say the mane six (plus whatever background ponies you wish to involve) were to form a rock band. Not an electronic or a jazz band, but a straight-up electric guitar and bass rock band. Which instrument do you think each pony would be suited to play?
Keep in mind that most rock bands include the basic, core instruments: the electric guitar, electric bass, and drums. There are, however, notable additions that some bands make, such as additional (rhythm) guitars, keyboards, and more exotic instruments such as synthesizers. Some add acoustic instruments such as classical basses and acoustic guitars.
With that in mind, let's hear it! Make your perfect pony rock band.
Personally, I'm fond of Maretallica:
Dash on rhythm guitar and vocals, Twilight on lead guitar, Applejack on bass, and Rarity on drums.

Obviously, I'll be vocals
ReplyDeleteWhoa. AWESOME IDEA. I need to think about this for a second.
ReplyDeletec00l s0 c00l
ReplyDeleteDude, this us cool!
ReplyDeleteTwilight - Rhythm Guitar
ReplyDeleteApplejack - Drums
Pinkie Pie - Vocals
Fluttershy - Bass
Rarity - Keyboard
Rainbow Dash - Lead Guitar
Simple really.
RD=Guitar
ReplyDeleteAJ=Drums
FS=Background Vocals
TS=Synth
Rarity=bass
PP=Lead Vocals, lead guitar.
Pony Rock Band? Make it so!!!!! ^_^
ReplyDeleteCan I ask why exactly you put Rarity on drums Cereal?
ReplyDeleteI personally would give her an instrument like a piano or violin. Far more graceful and high class for such a Fabulous Pony?
Rainbow Dash would play marimba
ReplyDeleteDash- Lead Guitar
ReplyDeletePinkie- Drums
Apple- Bass
Twilight-vocals
Flutter- Synth
Rarity- Second guitar
Spike- Lights, sound eq's. (:
LOL Rocktavia! This sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleterainbow dash as vocals, twilight on back up vocals and lead guitar, octavia on a viper, pinkie pie on drums, luna on bass, vinal scratch on key board/turn table, fluttershy on 2nd guitar.
ReplyDeletemane six u say?
ReplyDeletetwi on synthesizer/vocalist
fluttershy on vocals and acoustic guitar
rbd on electric guitar
applejack on drums
rarity on keyboard
pinkie on electric bass
Rainbow Dash should definitely take vocals after the 'Gala' and ' Find a Pet' songs.
ReplyDeleteHowever.
Derpy on synth.
I will say no more.
Twilight Sparkle - Vocals
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash - lead guitar
Applejack - Bass Guitar
Fluttershy - Keyboard
Pinkie Pie - Drums
Rarity - Rhythm guitar and backing vocals
Rainbow Dash - Lead Guitar
ReplyDeletePinkie Pie - Drums
Applejack - Bass
Rarity - Keyboard/Synth
Twilight - Vocals
Fluttershy - Rhythm Guitar/backup vocals
After "Peckish Pony", Twilight will always be a Trumpet player (or at least try to be one) to me. And Pinkie is always on Trombone.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'll have to wait for the Jazz Band edition.
@Rainbow Dash
ReplyDeleteEveryone so far wants you to play guitar.
... How can a pony play guitar without fingers?
ReplyDeleteI'd just like to see Twilight on Vocals (no instrument to allow for dancing) and Flutters on drums.
ReplyDelete"Personally, I'm fond of Maretallica:
ReplyDeleteDash on rhythm guitar and vocals, Twilight on lead guitar, Applejack on bass, and Rarity on drums."
This.
Pretty awesome idea.
ReplyDeleteI would say Foal Fighters with:
Applejack on lead guitar and backing vocals
Dash on vocals and rhythm
Twilight on bass
Pinkie on drums and backing vocals
Rarity and Fluttershy doing the violin's and other acoustic parts on the softer songs.
I see it like this:
ReplyDeleteRarity and Twilight as lead singers
Applejack and Dash on guitars
Pinkie Pie on bass
and Fluttershy on drums.
I just imagine Fluttershy going nuts on the drums.
*sigh* It doesn't look like many people like my voice
ReplyDeleteFluttershy - vocals
ReplyDeleteTwilight - bass
Rainbow - lead guitar
Applejack - rhythm guitar
Pinkie - drums
Rarity - keyboard/synth
Next time you make a rock music post, use GOOD art.
ReplyDeleteLike this http://i.imgur.com/dd7lo.jpg
Lead vocals - Rarity
ReplyDeleteBG Vocals - Fluttershy
Synth/Keyboard - Twilight Sparkle
Lead Guitar - Rainbow Dash
Bass - Applejack
Drums - Pinkie Pie
I thought this was about the pony rock project :( They deserve more attention imo. But I'll play along.
ReplyDeletePersonally I cant picture anything other then this:
Rainbow Dash - lead guitar and backing vocals
Pinkie - drums
Fluttershy - bass
Rarity - Lead vocals
Twilight - synthesiser
AppleJack - rhythm guitar
I can see Spike as a roadie running around setting up light and speakers XD
Rainbow Dash- Lead Guitar
ReplyDeleteFluttershy- Vocals
Twilight Sparkle- Organ
Pinkie Pie- Drums (that girl would be crazy on drums)
Applejack- Bass Guitar
Rarity- Costume Designer/ Light Engineer
Hmm. Talk about brainstorming. Uh...let's see... This is just off the top of. My head so this may not exactly be ideal. Twilight could work as a lead vocalist, AJ on rhythm guitar, Rainbow on lead guitar, Rarity on bass, Fluttershy on keyboards, and Pinkie as the drummer. And some songs could make use of the other musical ponies. Vinyl for some electronic genre songs, and Lyra & Octavia for some of the more mellow songs.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, this is all off the top of my head, so feel free to poke holes in my thinking.
How come nobody puts Spike on the keyboard? He can actually play piano in canon.
ReplyDeleteFluttershy would probably be the best vocals, but she might get stage fright... Pinkie Pie would jump right in there, though. She sings so much anyway, it would come naturally to her.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise. Twilight for drums, Rainbow Dash on guitar, Applejack on base, Rarity on STYLE (super important!)
Twi drums. You need a head for numbers to drum really well.
ReplyDeleteRarity Plays the violin, or any similar string instrument. The violin is a refined, beautiful instrument, and its sound is a perfect match.
Fluttershy plays bass, for the lulz. Plus backing vocals as Flutterguy when needed.
AJ plays guitar. I think she'd be perfectly happy with that. A good ol' country sound.
Pinkie sings. Pinkie always sings.
Dash beatboxes. You can't wear shades like hers and be in a band without beatboxing.
Sorry about the grammar on my post. Stupid iPad always gets in the way of my typing.
ReplyDelete@ Rainbow Dash hey it's okay I still think you sing good! :)
ReplyDeletePinkie Pie as drummer
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash as lead electric guitar
Twilight for keyboard
Applejack for bass
Fluttershy for heavy metal lead singer
Rarity for stage engineer/light choreographer
What have I done....
Dude, AppleJack on bass, Dashie on guitar, Fluttershy singing, Pinkie Pie on drums, Rarity backup singer, and Twilight on rhythm guitar, oh, and Derpy on ELECTRIC TRIANGLE!
ReplyDeleteFluttershy on sitar.
ReplyDeleteApplejack- Vocals/Banjo
ReplyDeletePinkie- Accordion
Rarity- Keyboard
Twilight- Bass Guitar
Dash- Lead Guitar
Spike- Drums
Fluttershy- Cowbell
For more of a Country Rock sound
Mmhmmm, I am not much of a musician, but I can word some opinions out, even if it's just based on their personalities.
ReplyDeletePinkie Pie at the drums. She's energetic, and she does know rhythm well enough to keep a constant tune throughout the entire song. Besides, I can totally see her playing hard.
Rarity on a keyboard or synthesizer. She's careful with detail and precision, and she will know to mix the music styles good the same way she weaves fabric.
Twilight should be electric guitar. I think she will come up with good tunes, and strong beats thanks to that magic of hers.
Rainbow Dash should be the base, and back-up singer. I bet Dash will drop some badass beats with that base, and the singing, well, because of my next entry.
Applejack as lead singer, because of Ashleigh Ball. Really guys, I don't know if you noticed but when Ashleigh sings for "Hey Ocean!" a little bit of AJ sips in. Besides, her soft southern tones will add to the song's charm.
So there you go. You can correct me guys, I am always willing to learn something new.
@NX
ReplyDeleteHooves make good guitar picks.
Also... You have to consider each pony logically when making a band people.
Twilight will always want to do something technical or overboard.
Rarity would want something with a bit of refinement or would want to sing.
Rainbow Dash would go for something awesome.
Pinkie Pie is always willing to make some noise and can play a variety of intsruments so she fits in almost any spot.
Fluttershy is a hard sell because she wouldn't want any of the spotlight.
Applejack would just be fine with just about anything if she's given time to practice with that instrument. At a guess she's a banjo player so back-up player.
As per usual band rules all the ponies will break up and feud over minor details and then come back together for a smash hit record.
@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteThe same thing I did above 0.o

ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash: Lead Guitar
ReplyDeleteAppleJack: Bass Guitar
Pinkie Pie: Drums
Fluttershy: Keyboards
Twilight and Rarity: Vocals
Mare of God
ReplyDeleteBig Mac as Randy Blythe(Vocals)
Octavia as John Campbell(Bass)
Rainbow as Mark Morton(Lead Guitar)
Lyra as Willie Adler(Rhythm Guitar)
Pinkie as Chris Adler(Drums)
Well, I had this idea a while back and here's my idea.
ReplyDeleteTwilight on Keyboard/Synth, due to her good manipulation in magic and precision.
Rainbow Dash on Lead Guitar because she totally wants to rock out a bitchin' solo.
AJ on Bass to accompany, as well as to show summadat dere strong-low bass.
Pinkie Pie on Drums for her energy.
Rarity and Fluttershy as Singer and Backup Singer, either one can lead depending on how things go because they have the charisma for it.
Pinkie - Electric Triangle
ReplyDeletebest instrument
@Harwick You do make a good argument for having Spike play piano. I listen to a lot of Elton John and Billy Joel and those two can definitely make piano rock. So piano could definitely work here.
ReplyDeleteActually, now that I think about it, I could definitely see myself doing some electric guitar
ReplyDeleteFluttershy would be on bass, because it's out of the spotlight. Think about it, in how many bands is the bass player front and center? I can think of three:Motorhead, Rush and Iron Maiden.
ReplyDeleteDash would be on lead guitar, obviously. The reasoning behind this is due to the fact that she likes the spotlight.
Twilight would more then likely be working the lighting and sound system. Mainly because it seems as though she would like working with technical stuff. She would also act as a manager
Pinkie Pie to me seems like she would fit on drums. That way her immense energy can be put to use
Applejack would be on rhythm guitar, seeing as how she seems to be more of a support character. Important, but not really all that noticible. Also, she's the one who would help carry the gear
Rarity is the hard choice. I think I would put her as the vocals, if only because there's not really anywhere else to put her. She would also be in charge of costume design, for obvious reasons

I love how most people's drummers are Pinkie Pie
ReplyDeleteFluttershy - Lead vocals
ReplyDeleteTwilight Sparkle - Lead guitar
Rainbow Dash - Rhythm guitar
Rarity - Synth
Applejack - Drums
Pinkie Pie - Bass
Here I roll for a The Gathering-like or Rush-like band.
For some reason I've allways seen Lyra as the front mare for a folk metal band, Finntroll style, as a combined singer/instrumentalist (on the lyre of course~)
ReplyDeleteAll I've got's a name. Radioherd.
ReplyDelete@Lucid Primus has a bass player as a front man too~
ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum I think 'cause she's the most energetic of the group. And some songs out there definitely demand a drummer with plenty of energy.

ReplyDeleteIndustrial metal
ReplyDeleteLuna: vocals
Rarity: backing vocals
Rainbow Dash: lead guitar
Twilight Sparkle: bass
Applejack: drums
Fluttershy: keyboards/sequencer pads
Pinkie Pie: distortion guitar/sequencer pads
Rainbow Dash - lead guitar. (She'd be all about the deedly-deedlies.)
ReplyDeleteApplejack - drums. (She's reliable, she'll keep things in time.)
Rarity - keyboard and synths. (Seems more 'her kind' of flashy instrament.)
Fluttershy - bass (People like to forget about bassists.. Fluttershy would like that aspect.)
Twilight - Lead singer, song-writer, and rhythm guitar. (She's organized enough to do a lot at once. If anyone else tried to write a song, she'd step in and help.. It's her band.)
Pinkie Pie - MORE COWBELL! (She is also in charge of PARTY!)
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@Lucid
ReplyDeleteI think you have the best band as your going to get, all we need is someone to train Rarity.
Then have her sing "black betty" Ram Jam style.
Rainbow Dash - Rhythm Guitar/Vocals
ReplyDeleteTwilight Sparkle - Lead Guitar
Fluttershy - Bass Guitar/Background Vocals
Pinkie Pie - Drums
Rarity - Keyboard/Synth
Applejack - Rhythm Guitar/Vocals
I'm almost thinking like blink-182/Beatles type thing - different members sing lead on different songs, depending on who wrote it or whatever. Rarity could also do some singing.
Sorry, Cereal, but Rarity could NOT do drums. As a drummer, I know how unpretty it is when you get all sweaty and sometimes bloody up there on the stage. Pinkie Pie would be the best drummer, IMO.
Totally loving this idea though.
This is just me, but the bass guitar is what I tend to pay the most attention to Ina song. I listen to songs over and over again just so I can focus on a certain instrument, and I've been pleasantly surprised by some of the melodies that the basist can play. So whichever one of the mane 6 winds up in bass they better play an awesome melody.
ReplyDeleteRarity on lead vocals and bass
ReplyDeleteApplejack on lead guitar and harmonica
Rainbow Dash on backup guitar and backup vocals
Pinkie Pie on trumpet and additional brass
Fluttershy on flute and additional woodwinds
Twilight Sparkle on drums
Spike on keyboard and additional percussion
Octavia on cello and additional strings
Derpy on theramin, triangle, woodblock, and cowbell
*in a. Curse you iPad keyboard!!!
ReplyDelete@Kagemaru6613
ReplyDeleteYes.I could totally imagine the Mane6 do that .w..But then again,I imagine them do every genre except Pop.
If you want this to Rock!
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash on lead guitar
Scootaloo on drums
Lyra Heartsrings on rhythm guitar
Gilda on Bass
Fancy pants on Vocals
I kind of want to actually hear Rainbow Dash sing "The Rock Show" after reading all these comments.
ReplyDelete@D. Shadows
ReplyDeleteNow that I think about it...Same. Or at least Ghosts on the Dance Floor.
Pinkie Pie as Springsteen and the rest as the E Street Band.
ReplyDeleteTwilight as Max Weinberg on the drums and Fluttershy as Clarence Clemons on the sax are all that matter, the rest can do as they please.
Spike on keyboard I guess, since we have seen him play one.
Fancy Pants on the Keyboard and vocals
ReplyDeletePrince Blueblood on elcetric guitar
Hoity Toity on drums
Together. They are. The CANTERLOT CRETINS!
@Kagemaru6613 That's an idea that could definitely work as far as the vocals go.
ReplyDeleteJust as an addendum to my lineup, whoever isn't on lead could also do backing vocals.
@Kabloohey
ReplyDeleteIt will end with: Blueblood being thrown off a building in a conspiratorial cover up, Fancy Pants being more popular then ever and Hoity Toity being back to were he's always been on the popularity scale and quickly forgotten.
Anypony who says anything *other* than this lineup has never been in a band.
ReplyDeleteDash - Lead Guitar
AJ - Drums
Pinkie - Vox
Rarity - Keyboard
Shy - Bass
Twilight - Rhythm Guitar/Backup Vox
Again, anypony who says anything other than this lineup has never been in a band.
And anypony who has been in a band knows that this is the *only* lineup that would ever make sense in terms of band chemistry.
I think Twilight would be able to lay down a great bassline.
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash Lead Guitar
ReplyDeleteApple Jack Drums
Fluttershy on Woodland Creatures (Could act as a synth, getting a wide variety of notes and pitches from various animals)
Rarity on Vocals (and maker of the band's outfits)
Pinkie Pie as Base Guitar and harmonica
Twilight Sparkle on keyboard.
>MFW this post wasn't about Winter Wrap Up being added as a track to Rock Band 3
ReplyDelete@D. Shadows
ReplyDeleteWell, I like Fancy Pants the most, so I can live with that ending.
Too bad Maretallica doesn't show any good results on youtube regarding ponies.
ReplyDeleteRarity: Lead Singer
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash: Lead Guitar/Back-up Singer
Applejack: Drums
Fluttershy: Base
Twilight: Synthesizer/Song Writer
Spike: Keyboard (only one with finger-like appendages, makes sense)
Pinkie Pie: Misc. Instruments/Stage Effects
Rarity is the lead singer. Charismatic, artistic, sexy.
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash is the lead guitar. Loud, always wanting the songs to be about her, but definitively talented.
Twilight Sparkle is the keyboardist, and main composer. The most "progressive" member of the band, brain behind it all, leader.
Applejack is the rhythm guitarist, secondary vocalist and/or secondary composer. Kind of a co-leader, she may not seem important at first but actually helps a lot with the cohesion of the band. May eventually play an unusual instrument (banjo, fiddle etc) that gives the band its sound.
Fluttershy is the bassist. Quiet, always in the shadow and happy to be here, but essential. May get angry enough from times to times to play a kick flank solo.
Pinkie Pie is the drummer. Keith Moon kind of drummer. Incredibly talented, energetic and funny, but there's GOT to be something wrong with her.
Spike is that one guy whose name you always see on album jackets, thanking him for contributing various instruments. May be considered a member of the band by some fans, but for most, he's just that roadie who sleeps with the singer.
@Pav Feira
ReplyDeleteWait... What!?
Now that I think of it, Fluttershy while under the effects of poison joke as vocals anyone?
ReplyDeleteThree crazy Octavias and maybe Pinkie (as drums) could do great Apocalyptica :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the mane six, I imagine it as some kind of symphonic metal band. Rarity should do vocals (they must have a pretty one there). Pinkie on drums (again :) just can't think of another positon for her), lead guitar for RD, and AJ as bass. Fluttershy can put her soul into the piano part, and Twi... synthesizer, perhaps, though she will do better as band manager :)
This would actually fit into my fanfic pretty good.
ReplyDeleteWill admit, I initially thought that you were anouncing somepony making mods so we could have Rock Band: Pony Addition (the video game)which would have been awesome.
Handpercussion: Derpy Hooves
Drums: Bon Bon
Bass: Octavia
Guitar: Lyra
Keyboards/Turntable: Vinyl Scratch
Vocals: Big Macintosh
For some reason I imagine them to have either a neo-classical metal sound, or a funky/psychedelic/pop rock sound. Basically whatever you'd call a mix of Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Stone Roses. *Derpy Shrug*
Dash on lead Guitar.
ReplyDeleteTwilight on Keyboard.
Octavia on Cello.
Rarity and Pinkie on Vocals.
Applejack on second Guitar.
Tom on Drums.
Spike is the manager.
Fluttershy is health care.
Rainbow Dash - Lead Guitar (her leitmotif is rock, so that's a no brainer)
ReplyDeleteApplejack - Rhythm Guitar (for when there can be a little "competition" solos/duets between the AJ and RD, i.e. Dragonforce)
Pinkie Pie - Drums (RD and AJ could play drums too, but PP has the energy throw down some hot sheds)
Twilight - Lead Vocals
Fluttershy - Bass/Backup Vocals (Bass due to the general nature of the bass guitar. She can do back up vocals to reamain relatively in the background. Also in cases of metal, she can be the Screamer by making her think of Discord.)
Rarity - Synth/Keyboards (it doesn't hide in the background like the bass, isn't brash like the guitars and isn't barbaric like the drums)
I thinking of a band like Killswitch Engage.
Assuming lack of fingers is miraculously not a problem...
ReplyDeleteVocals-Pinkie Pie (she gets the most practice)
Backing vocals-Sweetie Belle (wouldn't watching her get her cutie-mark live be the ultimate finale?)
Lead Guitar-Rainbow Dash (who else?)
Rhythm Guitar-Applejack (I've never met a country gal who couldn't strum)
Bass-Octavia (stand-up bass and cello should be similar enough)
Drums-Fluttershy (because drummers are usually hidden away onstage and nobody pays attention to them)
Keys-Derpy (I don't know why, I just have this feeling she can play them. I'm as confused by it as you)
Sax-Rarity (because rock needs saxophones again, dammit! Also because it would prompt someone to make an "Epic Sax Pony for 10 Hours" video and Rarity in such a video would make the EQD staff explode with glee, joy and some blood)
Featuring Vinyl Scratch on levels and tech stuff and Twilight and Spike handling effects and pyro.
Call the band "Alice in Reins", "Märe-torheäd" or "Soundg'-ARRR-den". No wait, that last one was pirates..."Pink Sabbath".

ReplyDeleteI can't say that I've put much thought in to the mane six' choice of instruments. But I've got a bunch of ideas for Equestrian rock bands. The first is the Trans-Equestrian Orchestra, featuring Octavia, DJ-Pon3, the two mystery violinists, Frederick Horseshoepin, and Derpy (and a couple OC's to fill in for the real band) here:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.furaffinity.net/view/7142092
That particular link is SFW, I'm not a mule, but anywhere else can be risky.
Sweetie Belle is lead guitar and singer, Applebloom is bass and Scootaloo is drums. That or Derpy is lead guitar, the Doctor is drums, Cheerilee is singer and Big Mac is bass. Maybe Vinyl could work the keyboard and Octavia the occasional double bass/cello/whatever. They could be called.....PV/BP (Ponyville's/Best Ponies)
ReplyDelete@D. Shadows
ReplyDeleteWay ahead of you.
Wild Childs.
ReplyDeleteDrums: Gummy
As part of the Drums: Tank
Guitar: Angel
Keyboard: Opal (See what I did there?)
Vocals: Philomena
Backup Vocals: Owlowiscious
Bass: Winona
This band plus Fluttershy's bird ochestra, coming to a place nowhere near the future.
I think Pinkie gets drums in an Animal from the Muppets way. I see Twilight as begin a jazz flautist combining the best of Ron Burgundy and Ian Scott Anderson. I am way getting a Toki Wartooth vibe from Fluttershy so she'd have to be rhythm guitars....everything makes her nervous! Applejack is tough, maybe Ler LaLonde style banjo. Rarity does costumes of course but also keyboards in the style of Freddie Mercury when called for. Rainbow is lead vocals and guitars, with the persona of Cyndi Lauper.
ReplyDeleteIron Mareden:
ReplyDeleteApplejack: Bass/Backing Vocals
Twilight Sparkle: Lead Vocals/Event Organizer
Fluttershy: Lead & Rythmn Guitar
Rarity: Violin/Backing Vocals
Pinkie Pie: Drums
Rainbow Dash: Lead & Rythmn Guitar
And Spike is best Roadie/Keyboardist.
DJ-Pon3 makes their CDs.
Octavia and Heartstrings: Cello and Lyre
I don't like being the norm, so I had something like this going:
ReplyDeleteTwilight on Bass & Lead Vocals (The underlying structural support of the song)
Fluttershy on Drums (The rhythm, the peacemaker, the timekeeper)
Dash on any sort of guitar (She'd actually be in the back row ;D)
Pinkie and AJ on percussion & auxiliary instruments such as Trumpet and Tambourine
Rarity would be playing a synthesizer keyboard, along with having a full audio bay next to her to mix each member's sound so they don't overpower eachother
@RisingStar
ReplyDeleteI kind of read that wrong... but yeah you are.
http://gacut.deviantart.com/#/d4mfyvk
ReplyDeleteThis
I do like the sound of Pink Sabbath...
ReplyDeleteExtreme Folk Metal:
ReplyDeleteTwilight - Songwriting, Lyrics Writing, Synth, Secondary Clean Vocals.
=> Similar role to Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish. Coordinate the band. Add an additional layer to the songs.
Applejack - Drums
=> Buck those double bass drums! Need speed and strength to do the job.
Rainbow Dash - Lead Guitar, Harsh Vocals
=> Who else can do harsh vocals and lead guitar better than RD? May sound similar to Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy.
Rarity - Rhythm Guitar, Primary Clean Vocals
=> Contrast with Rainbow Dash. Telekinesis-assisted playing skills. Main vocalist during clean vocal passages.
Fluttershy - Bass, Secondary Clean Vocals
=> Usually not in spot light. Assists in clean vocals / chorus.
Pinkie Pie - Hurdy Gurdy/Flute/Accordion/Bagpipe/Violin(Switch depending on song), Midi Sequencer Pedals => Can play obscure but unique-sounding instruments. Add backtrack effects with midi pedals while playing.
I've been mulling about this for a long time myself. I MUST reply.
ReplyDeleteStylistically, they'd realistically be a power pop or pop-rock outfit, but drawing some influences from other genres (I'd personally like them also to veer into psychedelic, folk-rock, or jam band styles like Grateful Dead or Jefferson Airplane, but that's just personal biases and tastes speaking).
Twilight on vocals. The sort of modest centerpiece of the band, but she seems to have a decent melodic range on her. We've seen her hit high in "Winter Wrap-Up" and carry a decent tune in other vocal samples (still waiting on that solo Ingram promised!). On instrumental jam sessions, she could also play auxiliary percussion (tambourine, Latin percussion, mallets, etc.) or maybe even play the synthesizer or guitar.
Rainbow Dash: Lead guitar, a foregone conclusion. The punk-pop and glam rock influence, she's the cocky soloist-virtuoso who more consistently gets her spot in the limelight.
Applejack: Rhythm guitar, also could function as a banjoist and fiddler when necessary. The down-home rockabilly, bluegrass, and blues-rock in contrast to Rainbow Dash's shiny, or loud, rock style. May also play bass when Pinkie's playing another instrument in live sets.
Pinkie Pie: A lot of people are tempted to place her as the drummer, but honestly I think she's hard to keep still behind a drum kit. I like to see her more as a bassist since she would draw a lot from high-energy funk styles, a la Flea or Les Claypool -- lots of popping, slapping, and jumping around in general. On-stage, also acts as a multi-instrumentalist who could play anything she damned well pleased, from the accordion to the trumpet to the hurdy gurdy.
Fluttershy: Also sort of an anomaly, I'd like her to be the drummer. This would allow her to stay out of the spotlight, reside behind both a drum kit and her friends, and, stylistically, would resemble a subdued kind of drummer whose purpose is simply to keep the rhythm and tempo rather than act as a bombastic soloist (think more Moe Tucker or Ringo Starr than Keith Moon).
Rarity: Keyboardist, pianist, vocalist. She adds a sense of class to an otherwise rowdy or uncontrolled group. The soaring harmonies and the graceful sounds, but also could bear a sound with bubbly 80's strappings.
Rarity - Lead Vocals
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash - Lead Guitar
Applejack - Rhythm Guitar/Acoustic
Twilight Sparkle - Bass Guitar
Pinkie Pie - Drums
Fluttershy - Keyboard/Backing Vocals
Spike - Saxophone
Rainbow Dash: Lead Vocals & Electric Guitar
ReplyDeleteApplejack: Electric Violin & Rhythm Guitar
Twilight Sparkle: Keyboard & Synth
Fluttershy: Bass Guitar & Back-Up Vocals
Rarity: Manager & Costumer
Pinkie Pie: Drums & Back-Up Vocals
And together the would be... Aponycalyptica.
/shot
See, I'm a big folk metal fan.
ReplyDeleteI see:
Rainbow Dash on the Drums. Yes, I know they tend to be overlooked, but the energy that gets put into drumming would appeal to Dash, I reckon
Fluttershy on the Bass, on accounts of they also tend to be overlooked.
Twilight on Lead Guitar, because, well. Because.
Rarity as lead vocals, I think she would appreciate that. And her flair for the dramatic would certainly suit.
Spike on Keyboard, we know he has the aptitude for that. And now that we have the traditional instruments.
Applejack would play fiddle. A proper country instrument that would appeal to her. And that really suits Folk Metal lyrics.
And Pinkie Pie would play whatever she felt like at the time. Second Guitar. Hurdy-Gurdy. Bagpipes. I swear I once saw a band with a Kazoo in one of their songs.
Band Name for above: Epona.
ReplyDeleteRD guitar/vocals
ReplyDeletepinkie drums
shy bass
twi backup guitar
rarity keyboard
aj..........the triangle?
You think Applejack could possibly match Cliffy B? Preposterous!
ReplyDeleteHm. Perhaps Pinkie could be on bass like Les Claypool, they're both relatively crazy. Dashie has to be lead guitar, maybe vocals too. I kinda like the idea of Fluttershy being rhythm. Perhaps Twi is the keyboardist. I can only imagine Applejack as a drummer. I can't imagine Rarity being involved at all xD
I should mention I have 6 OC's who are in a band. :D
Electric Guitar - Rainbow Dash
ReplyDeleteRhythm Guitar - Pinkie Pie
Drum Kit - AppleJack
Bass Guitar - FlutterShy
Vocals - Rarity
Keyboard - Twilight Sparkle
I would think something like this:
ReplyDeleteBoth Unicorns on E-Guitars, can't realy decide who would have which one, Twi would have awesome skills, but Rarity wouldn't miss the chance for awesome soli.
AJ on Bass,
Pinkie on Drums doing crazy shit,
RD on deep or growled etc. lyrics aaand Flutters would make some epic high pitched vocals
aaaand with this we got some awesome M[ar]etalcore :D
+ Octavia and her Friends could help on super instrumental parts /intro&outros etc
The vocalist changes depending on the genre of song.
ReplyDeleteTwilight is keyboard.
Fluttershy is bass and backup vocals.
Rainbow Dash would be drums.
AppleJack is the guitar.( and sometimes extra instruments)
Rarity is Costume designer and is the song composer.
(yes I know that I forgot Pinkie for one i like the band that i have thought up like it is and I couldn't think of anything that she could be...)
Vocals: Snails
ReplyDeletelead guitars: Spike
Bass guitar: Pip
Drums: Snaips
Band name: Colt Roach
Songs: Everfree Mare, final resort, Buck in the teeth, Mares love me not, Between alicorns and draconequus and lastly Getting away with luna

I haven't put much thought into which of the Mane 6 would be what in a band. If anything though, I've been planning out an OC who's a blues or blues-rock performer/artist.
ReplyDeleteSaid project leading to a bit of research on blues myself...

Lead Guitar:
Obvious decision is Rainbow Dash. With her awesome moves and hardcore passion, she would rock out hard on.
Bass Guitar:
Applejack is the first to come to my mind. Steadfast, strong, and sturdy she would strum hard and really bring out the music.
Electric Guitar:
Vinyl Scratch is my choice. She is talented with many instruments, especially anything electronic (including guitars). She would look awesome rocking out on stage.
Drums/
2nd Vocals:
Guess who would love pounding passionately on stage, bringing the beat and awesomely wicked fast solos? Pinkie Pie of course! At first I was thinking of using PP for vocals, but I realized no one could match the insane frenzied passion she would bring on this instrument.
Keyboard:
With her claws, Gilda would play beautifully and epically. Pounding those keys as she backed up Dash playing on stage, she would be a great fit. And doesn't every band need an angst-y band member? Gilda people!
Vocals:
I would say Rarity. Not really my first choice, but when you think about it, Rarity could really bring something special to the stage. She has class and a gorgeous voice, but could also sing rockin hard- and we already know she can scream right? Rarity would make a great sounding, sexy, and simply superb lead singer.
Electric Violin:
Fluttershy. She would add a intense, graceful aspect to the music whenever it would be her time to play, but she wouldn't play softly. Oh no, out quiet little mare would rock out hard, burning those strings as she played!
Synthesizer/
song writer/
special effects
2nd Vocals:
Two words: Twilight Sparkle. Organized, efficient, and gifted in magic, writing, and singing. She is the band member that does a lot, stays on top of everything, keeps everything going and together, and ultimately makes the band incredibly awesome!
You don't need ALL of these, but these are at least my ideas for the positions! :D
Vocals: Sweetie Belle
ReplyDeletelead guitars: Scootaloo
Bass guitar: Twist
Drums: Apple Bloom
Band name: Marescence
Songs: Bring me to Equestria, Going under (the moon), My alicorn, Everbody's Foal, Call me when you're 20 percent cooler, Sweet celestia and "Colt, what you want?"
Rival Band: Colt Roach
Rainbow Dash - guitar
ReplyDeleteFluttershy - bass guitar
Pinkie Pie - drums
Twilight Sparkle - synthesizer
Rarity - vocals
Applejack - sound engineering
Twilight-Vocals(Books can be the source of a variety of interesting lyrics, and she does have a very good singing voice)
ReplyDeleteFluttershy-Drums(Sometimes quiet and calm as in slow songs, but sometimes full on rage, and anywhere in between)
Rainbow-Lead guitar(Do I really need to explain?
Applejack-Bass and Fiddle(I feel she would give an interesting bass line, as well as use the fiddle in order to give a country flair to the music)
Rarity-Keyboard (It would fit with her high-class attitude, as well as acting as an outlet to put her creative spirit into the melody)
Pinkie-Didgeridoo and Sitar(Because)
I would have to say the name steeple chase with rainbowdash on lead guitar, fluttershy on vocals, applejack on drums, rarity on base, twilight on rhythm guitar and pinkie pie playing all of the instruments like in the parasprite episode.
ReplyDeleteTwilight-keyboard because it's the most dignified.
ReplyDeleteRarity-band manager because she's the most business savvy.
Pinkie-lead singer because she sings all the time anyways.
Dash-drumer because she can provide the speed and intensity a drummer needs.
AJ-lead guitar because the guitar is powerful and commands attention.
Fluttershy-bass guitar because it's more of a background instrument which suits her.
Spike-rhythym guitar because that's all that's left.
Band Name: Chimmicherrychonga
RD should definitely be the lead singer, if its gonna be maretallica... Fluttershy is too quiet, Rarity is too regal, Applejack is too country, Pinkie is too childish, and Twilight is too Twilight...
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteTwilight: Lead singer
Applejack: Accompaniment Guitar
Rainbow Dash: Lead Guitar
Fluttershy: Bass / accompaniment singer
Pinkie Pie: Drums
Rarity: Saxo (Greenday style B) )

ReplyDeleteOne can NEVER be too Twilight.
Rarity-vocals, auxiliary percussion
ReplyDeleteRainbow-vocals, lead guitar
Fluttershy-vocals, rhythm guitar
Pinkie-bass
AJ-Drums
Twilight-keyboards
I'm thinking three vocalists that share the spotlight like the Beatles. Rarity, Rainbow, and Fluttershy have the best vocals in my opinion. Rarity would play things like a tambourine when she isn't lead. Pinkie's high energy would make for a very bouncy bass sound like Paul. AJ's drums would have a steady beat and Twilight will bring technicality to the keys.
Fluttershy - Vocals
ReplyDeleteTwilight Sparkle - Synthesizer
Pinkie Pie - Drums
Rainbow Dash - Lead Guitar
Rarity - Bass
If you were to put other ponies in with none rock n roll instruments i would suggest:
Vinyl Scratch - Turn Table
Octavia - Chello
Lyra Heartstrings - Harp
Derpy Hooves - 2nd Guitar
dunno about rock bands...
ReplyDeleteBut if I had to match each pony of the main six to a musical instrument, It'd look like this:
Pinkie--didgeridoo or slide whistle (tie)
Twilight Sparkle--huge complex soundboard w/ extra large user's manual
Applejack--banjo or jaw harp (tie again)
Rarity--violin
Rainbow Dash--flashy electric guitar
Fluttershy--flute
Spike(substitute Rainbow Dash)--saxophone (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsS-ZH38nTU)
Personally, I'm fond of Maretallica:
ReplyDeleteTwilight on lead guitar
Are you implying that Kirk Hammett is an educated, careful and organized guitar player?

I've thought about this before, sometimes when i'm listening to a rockin' tune i imagine the Mane 6 playing a huge concert.
ReplyDeleteThey would be called Led Pegasus.
On Drums; Pinkie Pie, i can imagine her bouncing up and down to the music while smashing the heck out of everything with a huge grin on her face.
On Bass; Fluttershy, for whatever reason i can only imagine her playing bass if she's wearing sunglasses that are hanging on the edge of her nose, it looks cute and awesome in my head although she doesn'y have a "deal with it" expression, more of a normal shy/happy face.
Lead Guitar; would have to be Rainbow Dash, holding the guitar up in the air, making huge noises and sliding along the stage performing super fast solos, everyone can picture it clear as day.
Lead Vocals; Applejack, i usually picture her with her hair let down and singing with a lotta soul, stamping her hoofs when she's not singing.
For songs that inculde piano i'd imagine Rarity gracefully plinking away at the keys, and occasionally getting funky with it if it's a honky tonk kinda song.
DJ Pon3 would join in if there was a synthesised sound or keyboards and Octavia would come in if there was any strings.
Listening to songs like Kashmir, Baba O' Riley and Gallows pole with this set up in mind i feel the need to see it animated, if only i was that skillful.
Oh and since it's a concert they're playing in Twilight would be off stage wearing a headpiece, obviously she organised the whole thing and got spike to act as the bouncer.
Sweetie Belle on vocals,
ReplyDeleteTwilight on lead guitar,
Scootaloo on drums,
Big Macintosh on bass,

Rarity on backup guitar or keyboard, depending on the song
Fluttershy on backup bass or backstage
I've been over-playing the last PJ Harvey album, Let England Shake, and I always imagine Rarity singing one of the songs on it for some reason. Just because it's sarcastic and funny and I imagine her singing it in some dingy bar.
ReplyDeleteGoddamn Europeans!
Take me back to beautiful England
And the grey damp filthiness of ages
And battered books
And fog rolling down behind the mountains
On the graveyards and dead sea-captains.
Let me walk through the stinking alleys
To the music of drunken beatings
Past the thames river glistening
Like gold hastily sold
For nothing... nothing.
Let me watch night fall on the river
The moon rise up and turn to silver
The sky move
The ocean shimmer
The hedge shake
The last living rose... quiver
Cereal Knows best

Rarity - Keyboards
Fun topic time!
ReplyDeleteRock/Post-Hardcore band:
Dash - lead/rhythm guitar - because she can fly, fast hooves; stage presence in great; she's mostly seen with a guitar in fan pictures; she got shades.
Twilight - keyboards/synths - because she probably knows how to manipulate sound waves and fx; egghead.
Pinkie - lead/rhythm guitar - because her stage presence would be out of this world, random, and hilarious; hyper hooves; she bounces around on stage; she's best buds with RD.
Rarity - bass - because she could be one to appreciate the bass and how it fits and keeps the pieces together; she can see the importance of the bass while others cannot; don't really know where to put her; she'd probably all this rock music is for ruffians.
AJ - drums - because she'll buck the bass kick up; hard hitter; good stamina; it'll be a thing to take out frustration on; she could maybe do some guitars, too.
Fluttershy - lead vocals/unclean vocals/rhythm guitar - she could be maybe one of those shy ponies who hide her talents; beautiful voice; she can SCREAM (ex: "LOOVE MEEE!!!"); who knows what else she does at her cottage besides tending to animals; guitar because I saw an awesome image of her with one
All da ponies may sing, so the line-up can change. This was from my wack imagination. I think I put more thought into this than I should have. HARK!!!
Hmmmm... Rarity probably wouldn't want to get involved so much with the music. After all, she let known her opinions on Rock and Roll in 'Sonic Rainboom.' Were she to get involved she'd probably be on costumes and maybe managing duties.
ReplyDeleteI think Applejack would be the one on Drums. After all, She's constantly hitting things anyway. She'd probably be percussion. Or Harmonica if it was ever called for.
Dash would probably be on a guitar. I'd guess Bass guitar for her. I don't know the ins and outs of guitars, but that just seems very her.
Twi would be lead Guitar and vocals, given that she's the leader of the group. Also she's a good singer. So unless Sweetie Belle is involved, I think she'd make a good vocalist.
Pinkie Pie would be Keyboard. Her manic energy and amount of experience with so much music would probably help her to understand all those f*yay*ing keys.
That leaves Fluttershy... I think Rock Music would be too loud for her and she probably wouldn't like the crowds so much...
If she can get over that then I'd say give the Vocals to her instead of Twilight, since she's by far the best singer in the group, but if she can't get over that then I'd put her on more behind the scenes work with Rarity. I'm sure they'd have a good time together on that :)

ReplyDelete@ Trifon: I'm liking 'Red Hot Filly Peppers'.
ReplyDeleteWell, there's definitely a distinct lack of variety in these responses, especially when it comes to Dash and Twilight.
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash - Drums (Fast, possibly the best fit)
ReplyDeletePinkie Pie - Vocals (Have you seen Pinkie? This is the best fit out of them all IMO)
Twlight - Bass (She seems like a bassist)
Derpy - Trombone (Derpy is awesome and would be crazy enough to come up with ideas)
Fluttershy - Keys (It was between her and Twilight, so her and Twilight can be interchangeable)
Apple Jack - Guitar (Just because)
Rarity - Saxaphone (I originally though of using her for lights and sound until a put Derpy in the band)
Spike - Manager
Pinkie Pie: Lead vocals
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash: Lead guitar, backing vocals
Twilight Sparkle: Bass guitar, backing vocals
Rarity: Keyboards, backing vocals
Fluttershy: Rhythm guitar, backing vocals
Applejack: Percussion, backing vocals
All of them do lead vocals in some songs and Pinkie Pie occasionally plays the tuba.
how about this:
ReplyDeleteAJ: Bass
RD: Lead guitar
PP: Keyboard/synthesizer
Rarity: Rhytm guitar
TS: Background vocals
FS: Vocals
I see them as a prog rock or symphonic rock band, with some Latin and Indian influences:
ReplyDeleteTwilight Sparkle: Keyboards/synth/songwriting.
Rainbow Dash: Lead guitar.
Applejack: Rhythm guitar.
Rarity: Lead vocals, flute, violin, others.
Fluttershy: Bass guitar.
Pinkie Pie: Drums.
Octavia: Cello
Lyra: Lyre

ReplyDeleteApple Jack = Bass Guitar. Reliable, well liked, but almost never anyponies favorite.
Fluttershy = Rhythm guitar, backup vocals.
While talented, she would rather blend in than stand out.
Pinkie Pie = Drums, backup vocals. The best drummers are always wild and eccentric. She also seems quick to break into to song, even though it's seldom appreciated in the show.
Rainbow Dash = Lead Guitar. It's all about speed and showing off.
Rarity = Lead Vocals. Loves being the center of attention, will certainly be able to project her voice well.
Twilight Sparkle = Keyboard.
Leaders and eggheads both make the best keyboard players.
Twilight Sparkle: Synthesizer
ReplyDeletePinkie Pie: Drums
Fluttershy: Singer
Rainbow Dash: Guitar
Rarity: Piano
Applejack: Bass
Well, I see it as this.
ReplyDeleteTwilight: Lead guitarist and lead vocalist
Rainbow Dash/Rarity: Bassist
Fluttershy: Rhythm guitarist and backup vocalist
Applejack: Lead Vocalist
Pinkie: Drums (I think they fit her nature)
Rarity: Keyboard (probably wouldn't be good with distortions as Twilight would be, but she would make unique sounds)
Due to some good reasons I see in this thread, I would also agree with Fluttershy being a bassist.
Princess Luna - Main Vocals

Band name: Electric Mane Six
ReplyDeleteRD: lead vocals (singing voice most suited for role, has Dick Valentine attitude)
TS: lead guitar, backup vocals (can do the technical guitar work with magic, good singing voice, also band manager)
AJ: bass (she's not the most showy one, but she's the backbone)
FS: keyboard/synthesizer, backup vocals (not the center of attention, but making beautiful music)
Rarity: rhythm guitar (specializing in "beautiful riffs)
PP: drums (she can do a mean drum solo and it's the only way she won't outshine the rest of band)
How about a simply massive experimental melodic metal band
ReplyDeleteTwi:
Songwriting, "moderate" vocals. Twi is probably the most knowledgeable of the group. She could easily have a good grasp of the technical aspects of composition, and mythology can be an excellent source of inspiration. She can also provide vocals of a moderate range, more classic rock stylings than the ones I will get into going on
Dash:
Lead Guitar "hard/agressive" vocals. Dash has the perfect attitude for a lead guitarist, and of all of them I think she could do the best punk/metal scream.
Fluttershy:
Violin or Flute, "soft/high" vocals. What would be a better counterpoint to Dash's metal scream and wailing distorted guitar than lofty serene violin and Flutters' high, beautiful voice. Dash and Flutters would work together intensely, and have plenty of point/counterpoint interaction.
AJ:
Aj is a hard one, but I would say drums. Girl has endurance and power, and would probably make a good drummer.
Pinkie:
Pinkie goes Bass, with some backing vocals duties primarily for harmonies. She could do drums, but that flamboyance needs to be up front.
Rarity:
Acoustic Rhythm Guitar, primarily adding a softer accompaniment for softer sections of music, and the counter-point to Pinkie's bass.
Spike:
Pianos/Keyboard. Spike can add that extra keyboard support, either acoustic or elextronic at all phases (yes, he would come on stage with both sets of equipment)
Octavia and Lyra:
Backing cello and lyre. Believe me, these instruments can rock given the chance.
Scratch:
Secondary keys/sythesizer: To simulate and provide sounds not represented already, pipes, hurdy gurdy, didgeridoo, whatever you need.

My OC pony is in a rock band in my fan fiction (the other members are made up of other peoples ponies) Mine is the keyboardist.
ReplyDeleteMareoon 6 (Twilight doesn't count)
ReplyDelete@My Little Dashie
First off,
Fingers. Ponies, and animals in general seem to lack them in Equestria. Spike, that loveable Dragon with an incredibly high pain and abuse/neglect tolerance, actually has them, can play the piano (S1 E21 'Over a Barrel'), and is damned good at it too. He could turn this simple band into something exotic sounding. His outfit? Bowler Hat+fake Monocle. He could also play the saxophone, and be the living pyrotechnics. Great idea for a photo shoot.
Also, Pinkie on vocals would sound really nasally and the band's overall sound would get annoying to even the most loyal of fans. She would do less harm, and more good as a drummer, where the physical exertion would keep up with her ADHD.
Rarity would do well as a vocalist. Fluttershy would be better, but she would be more comfortable as a bass player. The lesser known Master Node that holds all the whines and pops of the combined instruments together, and makes the band sound bareable.
Twilight would be anything that is not a song writer. Back up vocals, and managing/lighting seems more up her alleyway anyways.
Applejack would be tougher to deal with as a band member. So would Rainbow Dash. For this reason, I think that this idea of a missing guitar part would be an excuse for competition between them. They would both alternate Lead and rhythm guitar until Applejack would eventually give up, and write songs for the group(and on occasion, triple harmonize with TS and Rarity). This is a really tight set, and the band would probably stay that way. This is all.
Oh, and add Zecora in as a lyricist.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, whoa, whoa... I think I'll pick what instrument(s) I'll play in the band, thank you. lol And I'd so play an electric cello or violin. It could work. I'd make it work. ;) Or drums. Octavia knows a bit about drumming.

Celestia would be a great lead singer and guitarist because, well, she leads all of equestria.
ReplyDeleteLuna would be a great bassist and backup singer because it suits her, however she can come up and do a kick flank solo.
Discord would be awesome as a drummer and percussionist because he would have a wide variety of instruments so he wouldn't get bored and since he is so energetic he can drum pretty fast.

The band would be called "Elemental Guardians" and the first album would be "Letters to Celestia" including songs like "Hoof Beats on Dew Grass", "The talent to be", "To Magic Kindergarten", "Rainboom Alley", "My Apple Pie", "My heart Sewn together" and "The Magic of Us".
ReplyDeleteFluttershy is main singer. I know, she's too shy, yada yada, but I'm not really thinking of these guys as a heavy metal band. Just soft rock, where the crowds don't claw each other to death trying to see the ponies on stage. Plus, her talent would just be wasted back stage. She'll have her friends there to back her up.
Rainbow is electric guitar. Period. She'd be pissed if anyone took it from her, anyway.
Applejack would be drums. She's steady, she's got rhythm, and she's strong. You need to be really, really strong and talented to be a drummer, and AJ is really good at mastering things. I know Rainbow's supposed to be grounded, but she's got her head in the clouds. Plus, most importantly, AJ knows how to get back on task. If the drummer gets lost, you're lost. Aj can come back from a mistake, which makes her the best drummer.
Twilight is electric piano, because honestly, Twilight seems to be just MADE for piano. Whenever I think of her human, I think of an Asian neurotic girl with straight As and a million extracurricular activities. She's good at mastering high class things like violin and piano, and I gave her piano because...
Rarity is Electric Violin. It's just SUCH a cool, interesting, beautiful, classy instrument and Rarity would do it justice. Plus, she has a horn, so the delicate being of it wouldn't be shattered.
Pinkie is in need of something that will occupy her mouth, whether it's singing or an instrument. So she gets flute, because it's a light, happy instrument that will add a lot of character to this band.
Big Mac would be bass. He's got it in the bag, man. Big Mac makes bass best.
i'm gonna have to go with RD on guitar, applejack on bass and pinkie on the drums, if there's a keyboard then rarity will definatly have that.

Princess Luna: Lead Singer
Twilight Sparkle: Band Manager
The band name is: Millennium
The first album name would be: Letters from the Moon
The first hit single would be: Voice of my People
The bands genre would be: Death Metal
Brief history of band: With the decline of metal, Princess Celestia had assigned Twilight Sparkle with the project of putting together a metal band, of course she instantly went to her friends, and discovered talents unknown to her beforehand. However, she needed one more member. She turned everywhere looking for a lead singer, but couldn't find one. Then the almighty Princess Luna (blessed is her name) approached her, with the Royal Canterlot voice. After forming the band, the band immediately found success. Their first album was made in only a week, and sold over 3 billion copies. Their second album, Cupcakes, is now in production. The city of Ponyville has also changed their name to Sweden, in honor of the most metal place ever.
P.S. Princess Luna is metal pony.

Applejack gets drums
Rarity gets bass
Twilight gets rhythm guitar

Finally, Vinyl scratch gets keyboard and mixer.
It'll be kinda like an equestrian linkin park except maybe a little bit heavier and less rap influence.

ReplyDeleteRarity: Keyboard
ReplyDeletePinkie: Drums
AJ: Rhythm guitar
Twilight: Vocals
RD: Lead Guitar
Fluttershy: Bass
Why?
Pinkie reminds me of animal from the muppets, she's a party animal and can make alot of noise.
Rarity on keyboards because it just seems to fit her.
Fluttershy on bass, being shy she doesn't mind not being in the limelight and letting the other ponies stand out, in fact she prefers it that way as we learned in the episode "Green isn't your color" so bass is great for Fluttershy because she is being heard she is not in the spotlight.
AJ playing rhythm guitar RD playing lead, I dont have to really explain this duo, you it just fits.
Twilight being the central character of MLPFIM it just seems to right that she would front and center stage singing.
I think AJ would also be a great bassist. Think Primus! Imagine AJ with a washtub single string bass.
>Which instrument do you think each pony would be suited to play?
ReplyDeleteOh that's just not fair.
