So... if you head over to We Love Fine, you'll notice Derpy shirts are back. All named in all of her Derpy glory.
I can't begin to speculate on what this means, I have less than no new information on the situation."Derpy" becomes a more apt name for everything the more time goes on, because... gah. More information as it develops, pony fans. Stay tuned.
Note: The primary shirt being referenced here is this one. Yesterday it was called "cutie bags".

Hallelujah!
ReplyDeleteFirst lololololololo im so funny!
ReplyDeleteWell this is a start. There must have been some agreement reached between Hasbro and WLF if the Derpy shirts are back. Let's hope we get more concrete answers soon.
ReplyDeleteThank god. Good sign?
ReplyDeleteFuck!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat about the itunes episode?
ReplyDeleteWow, this whole thing is happening so fast.
ReplyDeleteWhat in Equestria is happening?
Like I said, this was just a senseless panic
ReplyDeleteI think they're messing with us. 'Dance puppets dance!' Fun times. <3
ReplyDeleteA good news fro Derpy fans. Hasbro Derpy would not be seen as so offence if you show once in a while that she isn't a total Derp! Also Full DVD sets... RELEASE SOME SO WE CAN BUY THEM!!
ReplyDeleteThis is cool and all, but I'm starting to become weary of being jerked around like this.
ReplyDelete@Psyme
ReplyDeleteJust checked, it's still missing.
This all seems like trademark issues to me. Sounds like it might have all been worked out too.
I just want to say that's a really cute Derpy pic being used as the header.
ReplyDeleteSuddenly, alfafa.
ReplyDelete@Psyme
ReplyDeleteIt remains missing. We have no details as to why. We try really hard to post about unsubstantiated rumors, which is why we have no new information at this time.
I'm sorry, but thank you very much for your patience in this matter. We're working hard to get to the bottom of this!
That moment in life when a previously sh**** day takes a turn for the better.
ReplyDeleteI've been checking welovefine.com all day and they never acctually took away the shirts, they simply renamed them all. Looking now, they still haven't given back the Derpy name to most of the merch. Any source on this?
ReplyDelete@Phoe
ReplyDeleteWe under stand. I'd rather have no information then get some that isn't accurate. I just hope we get to the bottom of this matter soon. Really Derpy's name is such a silly thing to argue about.
Yay all hail the triumphant return of DERPY HOOVES
ReplyDelete@Phoe
ReplyDeleteThe missing word here amused me more than it should have. With that word reinserted, though, its a good policy.
Yes! A turn for the better, this is good news indeed!
ReplyDeleteI'M SO CONFUSED!
ReplyDeletebronysploitation is now a thing.
ReplyDeleteYAY!
ReplyDeleteThis is good to hear! Maybe people are finally thinking!
#SaveDerpy
Cool we have some progress, now just for some answers about the whole matter.
ReplyDeleteI'm still going with my basic assumption that nothing has really happened.
ReplyDeleteYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES
ReplyDeleteThe shirts that were linked yesterday are still labeled "pony cutie mark" and so on, but there are also some shirts that are labeled Derpy. Not sure whether the names on those shirts were different yesterday, or if they were just delisted.
ReplyDeleteI checked them since this whole thing started and never saw them leave in the first place. iTunes still hasn't revealed why they took down the episode, and I'm pretty sure hasbro hasn't said anything, not to mention that the episode is still up on their site. Overall, nothing seems to have actually happened.
ReplyDeleteOut of all the things that could happen, this is the best! Possible! Thing!
ReplyDeleteAgain, nothing of significance happened in the first place, just hordes of bronies overeacting before thinking for themselves.
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to current confusing situation...
ReplyDeleteI won't get my hopes up until we get an actual explanation from Hasbro. This might just be damage-control to stop an even bigger-freak out if they do change her name. I'm probably looking too deep into this, but there's a fair amount of proof to the rumor.
ReplyDeleteNothing happened, but thanks for your money.
ReplyDeleteJust. As. Planned.
Something good, huzzah! Goodness this is stressful though :(
ReplyDeleteYay! our favorite wall eyed mare is back!
ReplyDeleteFUCK YEAH DERPY
ReplyDeleteIf something bad really has been going on, Hasbro hopefully listened to what we said and changed their mind about this whole situation.
ReplyDeleteOk..maybe we can calm down now.
ReplyDeleteNow all we need is the episode back on iTunes, unaltered. Whee!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness.
ReplyDeleteFor continuing coverage of the Derpy Crisis be sure to tune in to EQD.
ReplyDeleteIt's not totally restored; the men's shirts are getting the name put back on, but quite a few women's still have the edits. I'm a guy, but I'm lookin out for the female bronies out there.
ReplyDeleteA lot of the shirts still list without her name. Only a couple I've seen still say Derpy.
ReplyDeleteMy speculation is that it was either a misunderstanding on We Love Fine's part, or Hasbro finally got the copyright issue settled (as suspected outside of the speculation that it was butt-hurt people). Or... it could be that since some items are actually labeled as Derpy, they're just going "nuts to it" and running with it until supply runs out. Again, all speculation, but I'm glad to see Derpy beginning to come back.
ReplyDeleteCome back to us, Derpy. We still love you! ^_^
I just wish we had a concrete answer as to why any of this was happening in the first place...
ReplyDeleteYay Derpy! WOOHOO!
ReplyDelete*falls into hole*
Derpy... What a drama queen...
ReplyDeleteThey probably had to track down Dr. Foreigner and get his permission.
ReplyDeleteI think they reacted to a few vocal idiots back-lashing without realizing that the majority of the community didn't think like that. Of course, after removing Derpy there was a far larger backlash from he majority of fans that love her, so...
ReplyDeleteTold you she was taking her cue from Prince.
ReplyDeleteNow Derpy, who was _______ (the artist formally known as) is now back to Derpy.
~Derpy rain Derpy raiiiin#
iTunes turn now. Return the episode.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, I finally ran into some people who share my pony love at my college today. One of them was wearing a CM Punk (I almost wrote Pink on accident...thanks "Colt of Ponyality" video) "Best In The World" shirt. The other guy name dropped the Ponies anthology video. So, it was a satisfactory first experience meeting people who share that specific interest (ponies; I've met plenty of wrestling fans).
ReplyDeleteMark what I say right now, this was most likely a LEGAL ISSUE and has nothing to do with complaints from fans. Keep cool, enjoy the episode tomorrow, and know that we are in good hands.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletethanks for the updates. =3
ReplyDeleteCould something concrete actually happen already, INDEED!
ReplyDeleteJeeze. O__o
Ok... What the hay is actually going on?
ReplyDeleteJust to make things more confusing:
ReplyDeleteThis shirt was named "Cutie Bags" this morning, and is now named "Derpy Bags".
This shirt was, and still is, named "Pony Cutie Mark".
This bag was, and still is, named "Derpy Mail".
I don't know exactly what's going on, but I suspect bronies aren't the only ones jumping to conclusions and misinterpreting things.
(And of course I left out a quotation mark the first time I tried to post this comment. Derp.)
This is driving all of us crazy...
ReplyDeleteFeels like victory already.
ReplyDeleteI think we did a little "SOPA" on them, seeing how the community roared with the possibility of the change of Derpy.
That makes me glad, or at least for now. Let's see what other news we get.
To those of you pointed out that not all of the shirts have been changed, yes that is true, but I think it is significant that at least two of the shirts have been changed back to Derpy.
ReplyDelete"Cutie Bags" is now "Derpy bags" again, and "Hooves Polo" is now "Derpy Polo" again.
I don't have screenshots of the pages before they were changed back to Derpy, but I promise you that they had been changed.
http://www.change.org/petitions/hasbro-studiosthe-hub-do-not-change-derpys-name lol the hate version only had 70 and most from a Russian group something lol safe to say Love beat out Hate xD
ReplyDeleteGo on over and finish capping that Derpy petition guys. again it's http://www.change.org/petitions/hasbro-studiosthe-hub-do-not-change-derpys-name for Derpy to stay unchanged and to continue to spread love and joy wherever she pops up <3 thanks to Kiyoshiii for the link
the power of the herd striked once again!
ReplyDelete@CTVulpin
ReplyDeleteThat's a short trip for me.
I am so confused as to what is going on. Apparently there was controversy with the name being offensive? Well, at least this is some good news.
ReplyDeleteThe longer this goes on, the more it seems to be a copyright thing... time will tell.
ReplyDeleteI say sign the petition anyway, so we can finally put this nonsense behind us.
ReplyDeleteReason #1: If anyone should claim that "derp" is an ableist slur, you'll have evidence that it is not the common usage of the term.
Reason #2: If anyone should doubt our love for Derpy, for whatever reason.
Reason #3: If you have no patience for manufactured "controversies," and to avoid that this particular one gets perpetuated further.
Reason #4: To support those with disabilities who are angry at the anti-Derpy camp for presuming to determine what is offensive on their behalf (which is to say every single one I've come across).
Not much happened. People went insane.
ReplyDeleteNot much happened again.
People decided to go less insane.
"I can't begin to speculate on what this means..."
ReplyDeleteUugh stop it please. I just hope enough shirts are sold already so everyone can get over it.
@jodyjm13
ReplyDeleteYea, I noticed this. Some stuff has been changed back and some has not. It seems rather pointless that they changed the item name when the actual shirt/bag/whathaveyou still has "Derpy" written on it in the design.
@HerrDoktor
ReplyDeleteYou do realize that none of the reasons you gave likely have anything to do with what little has actually happened, right?
And why should I want to support angry people? Anger doesn't help with anything.
At the moment, I'm just going to sit quietly and not try to make any interpretation out of all this.
ReplyDeleteI now oficially have absolutely no idea what's going on.
Derpygate 2012...
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what you guys are reporting here. I've been looking at WLF Derpy merch since last night and never saw anything leave the store: http://www.welovefine.com/nby.php?k=derpy&ss.x=0&ss.y=0&ss=Search
ReplyDeleteAlso, the few items that had their names changed are still changed.
http://www.welovefine.com/product.php?id_product=1587
http://www.welovefine.com/product.php?id_product=972
http://www.welovefine.com/product.php?id_product=1458
http://www.welovefine.com/product.php?id_product=1066
The odd one is this hoodie: http://www.welovefine.com/product.php?id_product=1456
The title is plainly "Face Hoodie", but the description calls it "Ditzy Doo" and the meta tags still ID it as "Derpy Face Hoodie".
~Buddy Vox
I have my interpretation(100% TRUE SRSLY. SRS BSNS!) but trust me, you don't want to hear it.
ReplyDeleteLemme guess, some /b/tard claimed he was the OP of that one 4chan post where Derpy was first "named" so Hasbro couldn't go "Derpy Hooves™"
ReplyDelete*Dopeslaps Hasbro* That's what you get for letting your trademark to 90% of the G1 MLPs expire. "Bright Eyes" would have been a brilliant compromise.
"Derpy" is starting to sound more like this whole situation than the name of our lovable mare. Let's just hope the one highlight the problem isn't the actual problem.
ReplyDeleteSomeone at Hasbro raised a red flag due to either legal issues or complains, started the lockdown early just in case the media would pick it up, it passed legal and wasn't seen as offensive, so the lockdown is being lifted.
ReplyDeleteBusiness as usual, guys.
ALL HAIL DERPY!
ReplyDeleteYAAAAAAAAAAY
@GameBuddy
ReplyDeleteWelp as others have pointed out before I managed to post, a few items have apparently been reverted to back to "Derpy".
Now why the others haven't is what's puzzling.
@Socially Inept Luna A copyright thing? how copywrote Derpy Hooves? and why would he stop Hasbro from using it?
ReplyDeletePretty sure Hasbro would have them change her name to Bubbles if it was just a copyright issue =P they own the Pony vector we just named her and threw her in a bunch of fanfics and flash stuff :P
Hasbro is a family company so if they have enough complaints from parents about the episode being offensive then they might just be screening the episode through their quality assurance and board censors to see if the episode needs to be pulled or can some how just edit her out. Wouldn't be hard to cut out 2 of the most epic minutes in "The Last Round-up" then to just pull the whole episode.
VICTORY
ReplyDeleteVICTORY FOR DERPY
MUFFINS FOR ALL
@Pegasus Rescue Brigade And that is the best stance to have on the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteIt's all well and good people pointing out WLF product names that haven't been changed/changed back, but there's nothing to read from that.
Wait a minute....A LOT of them are still un-derpy'd. Sure a few of them got "Derpy" returned to the title, but the majority of them are still "Pony" or "Cutie" etc.
ReplyDeleteWHY THE FUCK IS EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SO CONFUSING
(╯ಠ益ಠ)╯ ┻━┻
@Corkscrew
ReplyDeleteYes. I gave reasons for why signing the petition is a good idea regardless of the situation with Hasbro.
If you think they have cause to be angry, support them. If not, don't. Personally, I think having strangers presume to claim offense on someone's behalf is incredibly demeaning to anyone, disabled or not. I think they have cause, and thus I support them.
I'm going to need more popcorn, this just keeps getting better and better all the time.
ReplyDeleteYay, our muffin queen is safe!
ReplyDeleteIt seems likely this was a case of securing the name for merchandise. Probably they were removing the name while their lawyers chekked on things, then once they got the ok (or at least a "no one we know of is using the name already"), put it bakk.
ReplyDeleteNews of the petition certainly wouldn't reach them so fast.
Just reposting something I wrote on Facebook:
ReplyDeleteI think Derpy holds a very special spot in the fandom's collective heart. In essence, she's the Everypony. She's not brightly colored or stylishly coiffed. She's not intelligent and well connected like Twilight, nor beautiful like Rarity. She doesn't have Applejack's strength and work ethic, nor Fluttershy's cuteness, Rainbow Dash's flashy assertiveness nor Pinkie Pie's strange, unpredictable abilities. She doesn't come out winning every challenge. Mostly she just observes from the periphery and stumbles along the best she can. Derpy stands in for all of us, and actually hearing her speak was a special gift to be cherished, even if only for the short time we had it.
@Corkscrew Ignore that. I signed it in a show of affection for a misunderstood character with a lazy eye who some how people saw as slow due to her overly boyish tone of voice and her clumsiness.
ReplyDeleteIn that whole episode I saw nothing that led me to see Derpy as slow, even if Tabi seems to have tried to pass that along a bit but she wasn't informed of Derpy's gender so she winged it.
I saw Derpy as goofy and lively. They depicted her well, very energetic, hard working, eager to please and loving all around.
Don't have to sign if you don't like the current Derpy or because someone told you to. Sign it if only because you care about Derpy.
If you want to show the higher ups that she shouldn't be in a way killed off because of a minor birth defect that left her with a lazy eye, and you want to see a chance of her still making an appearance in the future, then whatever floats your boat.
I signed because I like Derpy as she is.
Somewhere a lawyer in a conservative suit and sunglasses is holding a bubble-cutie-marked pegasus on a railroad track
ReplyDelete"Mis...us Ditzy Doo. Do you hear that? That is the sound of...inevitability."
"My name... Is Derpy!"
I'm still confused, but I guess this is a good sign.
ReplyDeleteAll right, which of us wants to write the letter to Princess Celestia?
ReplyDeleteI feel like actually buying something!
ReplyDeleteIf the episode gets put back up on iTunes, unchanged, I'm calling this was a legal issue that was brought up by Hasbro lawyers.
ReplyDeleteIf Hasbro truly thought the character was offensive they would of made a statement about it to the public.
Legal issue is a Fandom named character appearing on the show. Lawyers thinking someone in the fandom might step forward one day and sue claiming they created, "Derpy"
Would be nice to hear from Hasbro their side of the story.
It seems I was right: Hasbro was just waving its huge sebum-riddled penis around in the air and securing Derpy's name. If she's that popular, they'd want to make more money off of her don't you think?
ReplyDeleteOh, bronies. You guys have hair-trigger reactions like nopony's business.
@pjabrony
ReplyDeleteI see what you did there.
And I love you for it.
Someone definitely needs to draw that.
I am keeping a close eye on this. The more I look at these updates the more it feels like a copyright case.
ReplyDeleteA glimmer of hope appears!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you here,James old friend. The chance of a copyright case is almost the safe bet considering that "Derpy" as a name was forged in 4chan and every "Derpy" merchandise was put away just in case the name was trademarked.
ReplyDeleteI know, people seldom trademarks every single thing they write on the Internet (creepypastas, fan-made names, jokes, you name it), but this was risk a company couldn't take. Maybe now they found out that Derpy is not trademark and they trademarked the name themselves, so they're giving us our beloved pony little by little knowing that legal issues aren't a problem anymore.
Oh God, I love me a happy ending.
ReplyDeletePlease let this be a happy ending! Please please PLEASE!
@Cátsy
ReplyDeleteLol, I'm not holding a gun to anyone's head, nor am I saying that those are the only possible reasons. Of course Corkscrew should only sign if he/she wants to.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't they just openly state what they are doing. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteI guess they have to be super secret at everything they do. Itsa large company.
Hasbro just doesn't seem to care about a few people bickering so far. I think WeLoveFine was most likely just being cautious at first when they took some shirts down. Now perhaps they're not feeling as threatened by this Derpy fiasco, so they put them back up.
ReplyDeleteI'm still confused here (as I rightfully should be), but this is a good sign nonetheless. Just have to wait for more concrete answers now. No need to worry overly much about it all.
ReplyDeleteThank God we had a mass freakout for no damn reason.
ReplyDeleteMakes us look real mature.
I think this whole episode is proof that Princess Celestia is indeed a troll of the highest order. (Which would also then mean that she does exist, and thus all ponies do exist. Which makes this whole crazy thing worth going through in the end.)
ReplyDelete"Legal issue is a Fandom named character appearing on the show. Lawyers thinking someone in the fandom might step forward one day and sue claiming they created, "Derpy""
ReplyDeleteYes, I too am very worried that somehow someone on the internet revised the entire structure of American copyright law to make that a thing that did not violate reality.
"The chance of a copyright case is almost the safe bet considering that "Derpy" as a name was forged in 4chan and every "Derpy" merchandise was put away just in case the name was trademarked."
Well, golly. I guess I should check the U.S. Trademark Registration Database to see if someone has trademarked "Derpy" because that is a thing you can actually do:
http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=toc&state=4010%3Aglsb18.1.1&p_search=searchss&p_L=50&BackReference=&p_plural=yes&p_s_PARA1=&p_tagrepl~%3A=PARA1%24LD&expr=PARA1+AND+PARA2&p_s_PARA2=derpy&p_tagrepl~%3A=PARA2%24COMB&p_op_ALL=AND&a_default=search&a_search=Submit+Query&a_search=Submit+Query
Hmmm.... what's that? You mean no one has filed a trademark on a piece of media property created and owned by a large international corporation, because DUH? You don't say.
Good lord. You people are MURDERING me with this decision you apparently made this morning that this "copyright issue! AAAAAH" conspiracy theroy is a real thing because of your amazing evidence of shutupthat'swhy.
So, did anypony buy any of the non-Derpy shirts? Because those are the rarity now...
ReplyDeletewhere's Discord? His antics are getting annoying at this point
ReplyDeleteViva Derpy!!!1!1!1!!!!!!111
ReplyDeleteThank you for this update.
ReplyDeletePRAISE THE EMPEROR! DERPY IS HERE TO STAY!
ReplyDeleteTomorrow's episode will contain Derpy in all her clumsiness, and will have lines and everything as a "fuck you, Hasbro!" from the FiM team.
ReplyDeletenah, I kid..
I hope Hasbro and the show writers/directors are on the same page about Derpy, and not conflicting. I would hate the writers to have to bend over for a spanking from Hasbro or something, all because of us.
It means we should trust Hasbro I mean come on they love us and they have always been supportive of us. So whatever comes just think it could mean something even better down the road. SO STOP FREAKING OUT EVERYONE. seriously we can't get all up in arms if something doesn't go the way we thought so just roll with it.
ReplyDeleteThree Hurrahs for the one and only Derpy!
ReplyDeleteHip Hip!
Pretty sure this is the work of derpy herself, they obviously accidentally hired her as a temp over at welovefine.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteahem.
ReplyDeleteYOU CAN'T COPYRIGHT A NAME.
Good LORD you legal illiterates...
Anyone else think that this is all a clever marketing ploy by Hasbro's legal eagles to move shirts and stir up interest in the character? My inner cynical jerk has the nauseated suspicion that they're sitting on a warehouse full of toys that'll go to the stores when her Very Special Episode shows up so they can score a Daytime Emmy, silence the people screaming 'bad example' and creep the Hell out of us.
ReplyDeleteOf all the best things that could happen, this is NOT. THE-BEST-THING-BUT-STILL-PRETTYGOOD!
ReplyDeleteI still have yet to see ANYTHING that convinces me that there is ANY "Derpy Situation".
ReplyDeleteYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS.
ReplyDeletePANIC! Ah jk its all good.
ReplyDelete@RHJunior
ReplyDeleteWhere'd you get your law degree?
Wow. All of this - just wow. The people who started this whole Derpy dispute really pissed a lot of people off. I hope the name Derpy stays and she gets to have another chance at some point in time.
ReplyDelete@RHJunior
ReplyDeleteEXCEPT YOU TOTALLY CAN, LOL!
I'm calling it, when they ask why Rainbow Dash got injured for the upcoming episode, it's gonna be Derpy's fault (on accident though, not intentionally)...
ReplyDeleteAnd at some point in the episode Derpy will come to her hospital bed and not only apologize but give her a muffin...
^If my prediction happens as such, I will proceed to scream like a little girl out of joy and use my next amount of cash to buy Derpy merch because she is worth it...And I might actually make a video on youtube too, because I've never done so and I probably should...
@Thunderstorm
ReplyDeleteI've said before that Derpy could be used as a catalyst for the Mane 6's adventures. She already did it in The Last Roundup.
Maybe Derpy will accidentally ram her butt into Rainbow Dash and sprain her wing or something.
as far i know derp was first created by the south park creators in one of their movies.
ReplyDeletei guess someone claimed to own the name cause he "created it" to troll them and they took it down first and now slowly get to know who rlly owns the term derp and maybe they just wait for a letter from those south park creators. for a free to use.
@HerrDoktor
ReplyDeleteA name falls under Intellectual Property, not Copyright. And no, those are not the same thing although they are similar and understandably confused often.
We have the power to change things and this is the first step.
ReplyDeleteI would still like a report from Hasbro.
Derp is not an offensive word, in fact it's not even a word, it was coined by Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the film baseketball and used again in South Park. It's just a meme. No one should be offended by that name because it doesn't really mean anything. Yeah, in some internet circles is used as a reply to a stupid action or comment, but that's all.
ReplyDeleteAnyone offended by the name Derpy Hooves is just an ignorant that doesn't know the origin of the word Derp.
Ah well. Hopefully, this has all been a storm in a tea cup. If nothing else, I have some Derpy shirts on route, and I shall wear them with pride.
ReplyDeleteIt would be good to see the episode back on iTunes, though. I'm glad I downloaded it promptly when it became available.
@The_A_Drain
ReplyDeleteHmm, trademark, then. Okay.
(Just did a search for Donald Duck to be on the safe side, and yes, he most certainly is trademarked :P )
Hasbro has had it tough on this situation buty I'm glad that they changed their minds on the shirts. And that they are keeping derpy.
ReplyDelete@Scott Muir
ReplyDeleteSo, how do you explain "The Last Roundup" being pulled from iTunes, and the WeLoveFine name games?
Seriously, I'm all for alternate explanations; I'd love to hear anything reasonable that doesn't involve Hasbro bowing to the demands of those who were offended.
Long time reader, first time poster.
ReplyDeleteThus...wall of text. SOWWY! =0
Honestly, I think some of this may have been WeLoveFine poking fun at the fandom and some of the reactions to Derpy Hooves. I especially think this is true after having read Tabitha's blog earlier today. Why put up a ton of responses from fans that LOVE Derpy Hooves...but then take out "Derpy"? A joke for the older fans that care? Most likely.
It's good that most Bronies know that Derp was coined by Trey Parker and Matt Stone in their '98 movie BASEketball(soooooo funny) and later used throughout South Park. The term, however, was always in reference to a person that does ridiculous, stupid things randomly and for practically no reason OR as a exclamation after doing something one might consider "dumb". Kind of like Homer's "D'OH!". Stone and Parker would have no reason to be upset about this and would probably think it is the coolest thing EVAR.
I grew up with G1 MLP...actually, I think I had the My Pretty Pony or whatever that thing was. I would have DIED if one of my fan-made ponies were suddenly put into the show and I believe some of you have forgotten just how lucky you are to have this lovely thing called the internet. As a fanbase, we are able to get online and connect with thousands of other people over one single show that makes us happy. However, sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the purely fan-made stories, personalities, and opinions and ultimately forget that this show is intended for young children. There are quite a few hoops our favorite creators have to jump through to make sure their script, voice acting, and images are kid-friendly. Do any of you REALLY think they would have allowed Derpy on screen if there was any chance she would be misinterpreted as a mentally-challenged stereotype? No, not in this day and age. I mean, come on, the original MLP made-for-TV movie had demons riding dragons to steal the ponies and the Big Bad was basically a Satan-like character.
I think Derpy Hooves is going to be just fine. ;)
So, yes, let's get back to positivity and spreading love & tolerance instead of making a big fuss over an amazing gift. I've read and seen the magic this community is capable of and have literally cried after watching Youtube videos of Bronies getting up and telling their High School class why this show is awesome. In a world full of so much pain and hate, it is truly touching to see [mostly] young men confidently proclaim their love of a show our culture has deemed for girls and honestly want to spread love and friendship to all around them. Please, please, continue and maybe this world will change...BY THE POWER OF PONIES.
With all my love,
Carissa M.
P.S. Don't let any of the haters get on you about this "masculinity" hub-bub. When I was a little girl, I loved dinosaurs, aliens, gore, and, well, everything not considered feminine(except MLP and Care Bears...). My mother was harassed by friends and family on how she was ruining me, but she decided typical gender roles may not be the way to go with her first kid and I think I turned out pretty freakin' sweet.
*inhales deeply* yaaay!
ReplyDeleteI recommend all bronies and pegasisters watch this:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MFy6nAyduc
The brony who made the vid makes some very good points.
EQD should totally change its banner to Derpy to protest derpy fate.
ReplyDeleteTo me, Derpy is a symbol of the mlp fim fandom. Because, in a sense, the fan's created her. And to have her an official character, with an official name, Derpy, in must fell great for the fans. Them must feel like they are participating in the making of the show, a little. But to have all that taken away.... heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YOU DERPY!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeing back the iTunes episode and nobody gets hurt!
ReplyDelete@Sovereign1023
ReplyDeleteYeah, the whole illogical freakout thing that happened looks even stupider right now.
Sethisto, you have no idea how bad the whole of bronydom looked in the past 24 hours. Frankly, this whole "story" gave the trolls a ton of ammunition. :\
I wouldn't jump to conclusions about anything. iTunes could have removed that video for any number of reasons. Jumping to conclusions and freaking out is just getting yourself all riled up over what may be nothing. Untill we hear an official announcement, it's just not worth worrying over the millions of possibilities. I think Derpy will be just fine. There are many reasons that iTunes would pull an episode other than the stuff people are coming up with here. The reasons are just to numerous. I'd say, stop speculating and worrying untill we hear the actual reason. There is no reason to freak out at the until we ACTUALLY KNOW what's going on.
ReplyDeleteAre you one of the few people actually offended by the name 'derpy'?
ReplyDeleteVisit this page for more information:
http://derpy.me/syQsL
Note: If you don't find 'Derpy' offensive do not click on this link.
I was just against them getting rid of the character all together. As far as the name goes, bronies can call her whatever they feel like, b/c the people that call her Ditzy wont stop calling her that, and it is stupid to get into arguments over it.
ReplyDeleteWhile this is seemingly good-ish news, the worst part is just being left in the dark about so much of it.
ReplyDeleteSo many unanswered questions! gah!!
derpys back *Yay* i just hope it was something stupid and they wont do it again
ReplyDeletepatent office
ReplyDelete...Yay! :3
ReplyDeleteThis gives me hope.
ReplyDelete@Lucky Hoofover Haha, bonus points for the use of the derpy.me url shortener.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I hope the iTunes thing is resolved soon. At least they fixed the episode numbering, which got kinda scrambled when they removed the episode.
Even more of the shirts are back to using the Derpy name. I still see one or two that use the non-Derpy name, but most of them are back to normal.
ReplyDeleteWhat does this mean? I have no idea, but it is info.
I Honestly Think her name should be Ditsy Doo simply because it sounds more like a pony name, not that i think the name 'Derpy' should be done away with, I think it should be her nickname.
ReplyDeleteI will repeat myself:
ReplyDelete"This too shall pass."
Enjoy the show tomorrow, everypony. :)
Come not between the brony and his Derpy, lest he brohoof thee in thy face!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that there were these shirts and then now hey've been cancelled and the originals are back in only a day thereby making the ruined messed up shirts the super rares....this all reminds me so much of Kingdom of Loathing. :D (Oroku Saki on there btw.) It's like one of those buggy rollover days all over again!
ReplyDeletePraise the Immortal Empresses! For glory of the Imperium of Ponykind I consecrate Derpy as one of Holy Canons of the Equestria!

ReplyDelete@Possiblydominator How could they not call her that, it was her original intended canon name before they decided to go with derpy.
ReplyDeletePeople are overreacting over this it aint like she will be removed from the show. And wasn't she doing fine in season one just only as a background character with the occasional animation glitch
I ordered a Derpy shirt from WeLoveFine last night, specifically, the shirt that says "Have a Derpy Day" on it. When I got a confirmation e-mail on the order, the email referred to the shirt as "Have a PONY Day". So I emailed WeLoveFine about it this morning and told them that if the phrase on the shirt wasn't as pictured on the WLF website, then I didn't want the shirt anymore. A very nice lady named Sharon from WFL e-mailed me back and told me that the shirt would indeed have the name "Derpy" on it. Huzzah! So that's that. Can't wait to get the shirt and wear it with pride!
ReplyDeletederpy needs to be apart of the mane6
