Yay Cathy Weseluck! Yeah, she does some great voice work, especially as Spike. Apparently she actually played Rarity in one of the old MLP direct-to-DVD movies. Though I'm sure she was nothing like G4 rarity.
I listened to Cathy on a webcast a few weeks ago, and she sounded like a great person. I feel she doesn't get as much praise as some of the other VAs. I've recognized her from Dragonball Z. I'd love to meet her someday at a convention.
Anyways, I'll listen to the audio file later tonight.
Why, what ever do you mean? Sweetiebot is clearly an organic, schmooze-fearing, sentient life-form that enjoys fun things that are not water. She in no way is a soulless automaton.
Cathy Weseluck voices Spike, the Mayor, Sparkler/Amethyst Star (The Mysterious Mare Do Well), the young male mailpony (The Last Roundup), the Wonderbolts Derpy announcer (Sweet and Elite), the Veterinarian (Secret of My Excess), and the pink nurse (Read It and Weep). She probably also voices a few other background characters we haven't identified yet.
That was a pretty nice interview. I actually learned quite a bit about the practical aspects of voice acting. And it seems like Ms. Weseluck enjoys the show, which is something I'm glad to hear. I remember Maddy Peters said she didn't actually watch a lot of episodes herself.

@The Seventh WonderboltHaha!
ReplyDeleteIt's a race of creature that speak in a very monotone way.
Butyeah, it was hilarious nontheless.
Big Mac and Hoity Toity are voiced by the same man. Pretty cool, huh?
ReplyDeleteToo busy watching the Brony show?
ReplyDeleteThat interview was really fascinating, although I was rolling my eyes at the "universal moral values" part.
ReplyDelete@Bronyhub
ReplyDeleteIN a weird way, I found that quote ironic given the current character that Cathy voice.

She also voices the background pony, Sparkler!
ReplyDeleteWait, isn't Tabitha the one who voices the Mayor?
ReplyDeleteShe's a Tolkien nerd?! Cathy Weseluck is best pony!
ReplyDelete@Eddmario Nope, it was Cathy.
ReplyDelete@mahaugher: You didn't know that already?

ReplyDelete"Mayor" or "Miss Mayor". Other names are not used on the show.
ReplyDeleteJordan: I'm pretty sure she voiced Junebug, too.
