A much more detailed synopsis for the upcoming Super Speedy Cider Squeezy episode has popped up. As is the norm for these, I will toss everything after the break to avoid spoilers.
New Synopsis:
The Flim Flam brothers challenge the Apples to a Cider Making Contest and the winner of the showdown gets to take Sweet Apple Acres, so with the farm in peril, the Apple ponies must come together and muster all their cider making skills.
Gambling AND drinking in MY PONY?
I love this show.

Holy crap!
ReplyDeleteSounds awesome.
ReplyDeletebest show ever.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait, this is going to be intense.
ReplyDeletesound druken
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for this one! It promises to be fun~
ReplyDeleteApples gonna win of course.
ReplyDeleteBut what are the Flim-Flam brothers wagering?
ReplyDeleteMore things to be added to the cannon list
ReplyDelete:D
ReplyDeletewhy would applejack let them take sweet apple acres? What does applejack get if she wins?
ReplyDeleteI hope it wasn't AJ that made this bet, it's rather crazy to gamble your home and livelihood on a pointless contest. AJ is usually so level headed.
ReplyDeleteI mean they could just tell the Flim Flam's to shove it and keep their challenge, it's not like people will stop respecting them. They're ponies, not Klingons.
Their home and livelihoods over a contest?!
ReplyDelete"Apple ponies must come together." So are others coming to help? Can Braeburn come and make my year?
ReplyDeleteEpic apple cider showdown for Sweet Apple Acres.
ReplyDelete@Hat
ReplyDeleteExactly!
Also as somebody else asked, the Apple's are putting their farm on the line, I wonder what the Flim Flam's have gambled. Would the Apple's become OP if they win the Flim Flam's livelihood (probably another farm or factory)?
I'm guessing the Flim Flam's will cheat and go home with nothing but disgrace (ie not get punished by a good bucking).
Somepony call John Henry!
ReplyDeleteCant wait :D i wanna see big mac kicking some flank :D
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean Big Mac will finally get interesting things to say?
ReplyDeleteWhy would they make such a wager?
ReplyDeleteOh shit, I really want to see this now!
ReplyDeleteI am calling it now, I bet this episode is written by Dave Polsky. I think I'm saying this because he knows how to write Apple Family characters.
Whatever happened to AJ's hundreds of cousins from the first episode? Shouldn't they maybe be helping out with this?
ReplyDeleteNow it just feels like the Apple family are mafia making illegal alcohol during prohibition times.
ReplyDelete@dorko4u More than likely nnnope! :(
ReplyDeleteOf Course there is no Alcohol in Equestria, its a KIDS SHOW!
ReplyDeleteHow long after this episode will it take till the Flim Flam brothers get thousands of fanfictions that will mess with their actual personality types? Equestrian may never know!
ReplyDeleteBut they said it was just cider, not HARD cider.
ReplyDeleteNon alcoholic and delicious.
huh. Guess we get to see all those hundreds of relatives from the first episode again? nice.
ReplyDelete@3p1c_d3m0n Money for Granny Smith's new hip?
ReplyDeleteConsidering the description tells us nothing of what the Flim Flam brothers are wagering, I'm thinking the Apple family is heavily in debt?
ReplyDeleteIt's your turn Applejack! Please win me over! I don't like how much I under appreciate you!
ReplyDeleteThis is gonna be SO AWESOME. /):3(\
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the Flim Flam brothers are like,are they donkeys or like Hayseed Turniptruck.
ReplyDeleteOk AJ, it's your time to shine, let's see of you can beat Luna as my second favorite, twelfth place is not so good
Flim Flams... smells like a scam.
ReplyDeleteAJ is usually calm cool and collected, but let's not forget "Applebuck Season" Her pride drove her to insane lengths to prove she could do it.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely see this episode being AMAZING!! I'm glad Applejack is finally getting episodes, I want to like Applejack more than I do. While I like Applejack, she is my least favorite of the mane 6. Maybe these episodes will change my mind though.
ReplyDeleteINB4 one of the Flim Flam brothers is voiced by Larry the Cable Guy
ReplyDelete@MadDoctorD
ReplyDeleteVillains tend to not really wager - because they're already intending to cheat.
Oh wow. What on EARTH made them almost lose their house? O,0 oh i hope somepony makes a duke's of hazard joke!
ReplyDeleteHmm, so maybe Big Mac will finally get to, you know, DO SOMETHING?
ReplyDeleteProbably not.
The writers really seem to hate him for some reason.
Am I the only one who sees a "Panty & Stocking (with Garterbelt)" vibe from the pic up there?
ReplyDelete...probably.
There is no alcohol in Equestria, yet Berry Punch is still constantly drunk: One of life's greatest mysteries.
ReplyDeleteTalk about betting the farm...
ReplyDeleteThis smacks of desperation - or foolish arrogance? Gonna be interesting, this added bit of synopsis makes this episode very intriguing now!
@king kay
ReplyDeleteJust about.
Sorry you had to picture what-ever-it-is-you-see in your head if it helps.
O,0
Cutie Mark Crusader gamblers?

ReplyDelete@Nathan
ReplyDeleteHm, "cider" round these parts (England) has alcohol, albeit in widely variant concentrations. Otherwise it's apple juice.
please let big mac have some lines!
ReplyDeleteSadly, the writer seem set on keeping Big Mac an incidental character.
ReplyDelete@King Kay
ReplyDeleteI see it also. It was the first thing that popped up into my head when I saw that picture
@StrangeNoise
ReplyDeleteI think this discussion was covered extensively in the original synopsis post. Basically in North America, cider can be both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
Which makes me wonder if they'll change it for international airing.
@Sgt ByrdYou may be right. The Flim Farm brothers might be among these news antagonist Jayson told us about.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for this episode!
@StrangeNoise
ReplyDeleteBut in North America, where the show is written and made, cider is non-alcoholic unless otherwise specified. The difference between it and juice is pasteurization.
@Strange Noise
ReplyDeleteIn most of America and most parts of Canada cider is just an unfiltered apple juice. No alcohol at all. Hard Cider has alcohol.
@Jimperator
ReplyDeleteI doubt they'll change the "cider" for international audiences. We're used to Americanisms turning up without explanation, so if something odd turns up - for instance, giving cider to children - we just assume it's a difference in language.
No see,in north america, hard ANYTHING means your drink is all frisky. Hense "hard".
ReplyDeleteO.0
@the-matthew
ReplyDeleteAnd as long as they don't give the cider to child-characters, it'll actually be OK anyway, as in europe a broadcaster's probably less likely to get into trouble for admitting that adults drink in a kids' show. :-)
Even if they *do* show the kids drinking some, that'll probably be received differently in eg: UK and France, where children are introduced to alcohol sooner (which some argue helps with it becoming a normalised part of family life rather than a rebellious teenage thing).
So they probably don't need to change it.
If anything can possibly pull Applejack out of last place in the fandom's overall opinions of the mane six, it's got to be this episode. This is your chance to shine, AJ!
ReplyDeleteI'd laugh like a madman if they actually lost the farm. Then I'd be like, "Wait, did they really just- NOOOOOO!!! D8" Maybe they'll at least psyche us out for a moment.
ReplyDeleteIn all seriousness, I wouldn't necessarily assume that the rest of the clan will get involved. And yeah, it would be great if the creators bothered remembering that, once upon a time, Big Macintosh used to say actual things. But sure, guys, keep beating that horse until it's, well...
@the-matthew
ReplyDeleteHah, alright then. Reminds me of something an English friend of mine said once about hearing British accented actors on TV as opposed to American accents. It caused a temporary "wtf?" moment.
@Victory Star Oh, it's nothing bad, really. Panty & Stocking is a very... odd and "adult" Japanese cartoon. I saw an episode once- It's hard show to forget. Very distinctive in style.
ReplyDelete@King Kay
ReplyDeleteThat's exscatly what I thought when I saw that picture.AppleJack looks a lot like Panty in that image.
@Ropera For me, the style of the picture seemed familiar, but I couldn't place it. Then I suddenly realized that Twilight and Stocking's hair are like, exactly the same. Then it all clicked.
ReplyDelete"Cider" isn't alcoholic...at least not in the US.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, Applejack's parents incoming.
@TenchiFreak5"Why would they make such a wager?"
ReplyDeletePride, my friend. Which is pretty much Applejack's Achilles heel.
At least she'll be getting help from the rest of her clan, this time.
What are the restrictions on alcohol in kids shows in the UK anyway? I remember seeing Warner Bros cartoons shown back in the 90s where characters get drunk.
ReplyDelete>If the super squeezy wins, Apples lose the farm
ReplyDelete>If Apples win noting happens.
Legit bargain
oh yay! i want to see some epic Big Mac scenes
ReplyDelete@Joe York
ReplyDeleteI think it's OK for adults to be shown drinking responsibly on children's TV in the UK. I can remember seeing parents with glasses of wine or beer, but I think the only time I've seen children drink alcohol on children's TV was when the show was making a point about drinking to excess. (The law says that you need to be 18 or over to buy alcohol or drink it in licensed premises, except that 16 and 17 year olds can drink beer, wine or cider with a meal in a restaurant and there's no age limit at home so most children are familiar with alcohol and most will have tried it.)
Oh boy ho boy ho boy, can't wait! Need mo AppleJack.
ReplyDeleteapplejack needs some attention! here we go!
ReplyDeleteJust going to say it again: It's going to be exactly like that one Spongebob episode when Spongebob competed with the patty making robot for supremacy.
ReplyDelete...I reserve the right to say I told everyone so after it happens.
Dammit British Bronies, we've been over this....CIDER IS NON-ALCOHOLIC IN THE STATES.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww man can't wait for this!
ReplyDeleteHopefully it ends with Big Macintosh beating the tar out of the Flim Flam brothers (offscreen of course)
ReplyDeleteIf Derpy makes her cameo and Berry Punch is seen chugging down a bottle, I will be happy.
I wonder how long it will take for the moral guardians to jump at this, lol.
ReplyDeleteWait, what are the Apples winning then?
ReplyDelete@mycutiemarkisagun
ReplyDeleteyeah we *know*, we don't *care* :-P We're on about how it'll be received here assuming they don't try to change it for the location *because* "cider" is alcoholic here.
@StrangeNoise
ReplyDeleteAnd basically, I think, we're saying, even with that different interpretation of "cider" it wouldn't actually be a problem
@StrangeNoise
ReplyDelete... unless Applebloom's seen glugging it back a bit too heartily... :-}
*drinks from the big jug of hard cider* Eeyup makings of more 'Devil goes down to Georgia' style PMVs.
ReplyDeleteSo does this mean the other mane 5 are gonna be absent again?
ReplyDeleteHang on a how does one test the quilty of Cider?
ReplyDeletedoes ayone hear know?
anyways this would be a perfect episode to put berry drinking in and not have hasbro censor it.
@King Kay
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only one. I, too, have seen the resemblance, but I've also seen other crossover art of the two series because of the visual similarities between Twilight Sparkle and Stocking, and Applejack and Panty. I've also seen the entire series of P&S w/GB, and eagerly await season 2 (if they ever make it).
It's hilarious, but yes, rather adult, and one has to not RAGE over constant toilet and sexual humor to be able to enjoy it.
As far as the Apples and the bet, well, think about it. They are challenged by brothers named after a confidence scheme; scam artists. I wouldn't be surprised if the Apples were tricked into making the bet in the first place, not knowing what they were doing, and the brothers just trying to make it look legit so they couldn't complain when they lost SAA. It will then be the Apple's pride that will keep them from backing out once they realize the ploy.
MORE APPLEJACK DANIEL'S!!!!!!
ReplyDelete@Sgt Byrd That's so overused. Don't you know FiM at all? The writers wanna be original so obvious stuff like this is thankfully pretty much impossible to encounter.
ReplyDeleteIt's the MLP drinking Game: Take a shot every time the word Apple is said.
ReplyDeletewhat the FUCK APPLE JACK, WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO NOW? YOUR GODDAMNED PRIDE IS WHAT WILL ALMOST LOSE YOUR FARM FOR CHRIS SAKE! SEND IN THE MIND RAPERS TO FIX THIS NOAW
ReplyDeleteAJ and Big Mac kicking some Flim Flam ass at making cider? Hells yes.
ReplyDelete@Sgt Byrd
ReplyDeleteYou, sir, took the words right out of my mouth.
Protip: Cider isn't alcoholic by default.
ReplyDeletedoes anybody else think about scooby doo with "flim flam"?
ReplyDeleteAppleshine.
ReplyDeleteApple Cider doesn't have to be alcohol you uncouth barbarians.
ReplyDeleteGiven their names, I could see the Flim Flam brothers lying and claiming that the farm is actually theirs through a long time contract or something and the Apples have to do the contest to keep their farm...maybe Twilight and the others find that the contract is phoney, but the Apples win anyway, based on the quality of their product
ReplyDeleteI'm actually thinking that the Flim Flam brothers come to Sweet Apple Acres trying to buy the farm from them saying they have one of the best farms around Equestria (but are lying of course) and then they decide to do a contest to see if the Apples keep the farm. The Apples will still win though because of how delicious and good their apples are
ReplyDeleteThe name of the antagonists makes me think this episode will have con-artists in it.
ReplyDeleteI fully expect to see the guards appear to take away the con-artists at the end of the episode.
A great twist would be if these flim-flams where totally honest business stallions and the easop is not to judge people to fast.
ReplyDelete@Glowy Pie
ReplyDeleteFIM does plenty of overused stuff, it's a kids show. Kids can't spell cliché yet.
They introduced a turtle/tortoise into an episode with a race, guess who was gonna win that race.
Even though FIM has these clichés, I don't care, because I still love it, even if I can predict the ending. I'm a lot older than the target audiance, so it stands to reason that I am smarter than them. It's more about how we get to the ending that matters to me, and that's where FIM is brilliant.
One of th episodes I waited most for!
ReplyDeleteI smell some Berrypunch x Applejack.
Who loves this show?
ReplyDelete*raises hoof*
If Big Mac gets through this episode with just "eeyup" and "nope", I'll go on mad killing spree.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, that shit lost it's charm looong ago.
@King Kay that was the exact same thing i thought too... P&S is a hilarious show :/
ReplyDeleteMan, I hope Berry Punch is the contest judge.
ReplyDelete
