I was going to put this in the roundup, but that timeline is awesome.
Someone from over here in Arizona recently did a really neat article on Friendship is Magic. As most of you probably already know, the group over here is pretty damn active, so I guess this was inevitable.
Naturally, she interviewed a bunch of us.
Check out the entire article here! And be sure to click the image on the page for a really neat full timeline.

cool
VastaKustutaI admit, a lol'd a few times, and still am.....
VastaKustutaThats cool
VastaKustutaThat's a really neat timeline there, with some random image choice... Someone should do something like this, but keep it updated, that would be cool
VastaKustutaGood article, fun timeline. I almost get suspicious when I read an entirely positive article these days, just waiting for the other shoe to drop but I guess we need full-on supporters in the media as well as mixed reviews. =D
VastaKustuta@ThunderIce something like that actually is underway, but procrastination plague is imminent.
VastaKustutaI'm impressed with how this article was written out. It doesn't look like they try to deride the show or make it look bad in any way. They've got the facts straight, and they gave plenty of room for the fans to say their peace. That timeline obviously can't cover everything, but it pretty much covers the basics. And who can beat "promotion" of our little corner of the internet. Not that it's so little anymore. Great read overall. n_n
VastaKustuta@Bombedrumbum
VastaKustutaI just blame Facebook for procrastination. Unrelated, but could someone tell me what time zone EQD is in? I thought it was -5GMT, but I don't think Arizona is on the eastern coast.
@ThuunderIce MST, I think.
VastaKustutaWell, when Seth is posting from Arizona, you would think that the time zone would be in Arizona.
Also, my source for procrastinating ponies is ponies themselves
I was thinking about copyright and how Author's will pursue legal action, then again when you have nothing all they can take from you are your eyes, your tongue, your hands and whatever means you can contrive to continue to tell those stories yourself. To me it makes me feel they are hypocrites. ex. I know for sure Anne Rice did not come up with the devil...Memnoch or not, the position is clear whom the character is.
VastaKustutaDunno what the last November submission on the timeline is. Must be something to do with a club at a University in Arizona. lol But it's a nice little timeline.
VastaKustutaThe article used that ridiculous term so many, including myself, dislike though. Not even gonna say it. You know the one. lol But it's a good article. Somewhat lengthy and they seemed to do their research for it. Which is good of course.
Oh yes... I remember January 19, 2011...
VastaKustutaWe need to do something special for Thursday!
@gillnavisingh My parents are gonna hate me for this, but I'll probably spend the whole day binging on ponies. And I say that because they think I need more sleep.
VastaKustuta@Bombedrumbum
VastaKustutaIs MST -8GMT? I don't know what time zone Arizona is in, I know my time zones, but not my American geography :P
Also, that actually makes complete sense. I've had lots of experience with that...
This is a nice positive review, good to see that! But I do understand those mixed reviews, I think no-one really understands...hmmm..'Bronyhood' until you are a brony. I SPEAK MADNESS.
VastaKustuta"...there’s no real reason why I’m not allowed to watch this show: it’s well-produced, it’s pretty funny" This is pure gold. Well said and way to represent.
VastaKustutaI might be OK with the term bronette, beats the hell out of pegasister.
I also think the last paragraph brings up an incredibly important point. Though, I couldn't get past the first episode of Lost. (POLAR BEARS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?)
@ThunderIce one hour more than West coast, two hours less than East Coast.
VastaKustutaMaking sence? Pinkie Pie would like to have a word with you.....
@Bombedrumbum
VastaKustutaI am so confused... I though America was only divided into three time zones. I'm just going to start assuming its GMT and replace the 'Nightly' in 'Nightly Roundup' to 'Afternoon'
@ThunderIce
VastaKustutaRight now:
West Coast: 12:15
MST (blog time): 1:15
CT (i think): 2:15
East Coast: 3:15
@ThunderIce
VastaKustutaI live in Arizona and this was posted at 12:32 AM. As In 32 minutes after midnight.
@Bombedrumbum
VastaKustutaThanks! So wait, the nightly roundup gets published at around 1AM? Why is it called a 'Nightly' roundup then... Anyway, that clears up quite a lot of stuff for me, thanks again
@ThunderIce
VastaKustutaI've asked Seth that so many times.....
Number of times that Sethisto has replied to me: four
Number of times that Sethisto has told me to shut up: three
@VRBrony o well.....
VastaKustuta@VRBrony Oh. Okay, thanks
VastaKustuta@Bombedrumbum lol I was going to ask him right after I realised the time they were posted at right now. I probably shouldn't..
I think that Nightly Round Up works fine for Arizona time because very early hours like 1 AM when this Round Up was posted could still be considered Night. Mostly people need to remember that Seth lives in Arizona so the time for the blog is pretty much different from everywhere else in the world.
VastaKustutaI live on the West Coast, so.....
VastaKustutaWest Coast is usually pretty close. I think it actually syncs up part of the year either before or after Daylight savings time because Arizona doesn't observe it.
VastaKustutaDaylight saving time is annoying. I find it pretty useless, but that's just my view. It makes it so hard to calculate time differences, especially when both the places you want to calculate the difference between observe DST. I missed many livestreams when DST was 'active', always came an hour too late
VastaKustutaBlogger decided not to publish my previous comment, It's almost always just before afternoon for me when a roundup gets posted
VastaKustutaW00t for Arizona! I've been to a few meetups, but not many. Hoping to go to more!
VastaKustutaAlso, W00t for puzzle plate!
VastaKustutaPutting it out there, I'm a female brony. Yay.
VastaKustuta@Ravey
VastaKustutai really really don't like the pegasister name
@mycutiemarkisagun I agree,it doesn't sound right. Being a girl Brony kind of makes you a tomboy though.
VastaKustuta@Ravey Rainbow Dash profile pic much?
VastaKustuta@Bombedrumbum Oh snap!
VastaKustuta@Bombedrumbum *was oh snapped....* ..................................RAINBOW IS DA BEST PONEH.
VastaKustutaMy neck was oh snapped by Fluttershy XD
VastaKustutaAPPLEJACK IS DA BEST PONEH.
eat ALL the MUUUFFFINNNS.
VastaKustutaGGRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIINNNNNNNNSSSSSSS
VastaKustutaArrghh the links aren't working for some reason :S
VastaKustutaI have to think about how funny it is to know that Amid Amidi is kicking himself in the pants every day, having to live with the knowledge that he single-handedly created the brony movement because of not knowing what he was talking about. None of this, any of this, would have happened to the degree it has if he didn't rag on the show as hard as he did, and just let it be. Friendship is Magic would have passed on quietly into the night like every other generation of My Little Pony, and none of us would have been the wiser.
VastaKustutaSo my hat goes of to Amid: The Proto Brony. May your prime example of blind stupidity live on forever as an example of how attempting to snipe at a good show will make you look like a gigantic douche, and how quality will always shine through.
Canter on.
When Slashdot does it, it's the Slashdot Effect. When Penny Arcade does it, it's being wanged. But what is it called when traffic from EqD brings a website to its knees?
VastaKustutaManelined, perhaps? Or manestreamed?
Let me start my opinion on this note: I love gay people, I grew up with some, I have ton of gay friends, and I have nothing against them.
VastaKustutaRight now, I'm really against the float idea that's going to be presented during the pride parade. THAT will just add more fuel to the flames of people who make assumptions of the male fan base is purely homosexual. I'm crossing my fingers that they see this more logically. I'm proud and prideful of being a fan of MLP, but not labeled as gay along with it.
Timeline Error:
VastaKustutaMay 27
The Hub Airs a Video called EQUESRIA girls
...
Equesria? Derp.
@PinkiePi
VastaKustutaConsider, though: the people who assume that all male bronies are gay are not likely to put themselves in a position to learn anything about the fandom, let alone learn about our demographics. That float will not make them think we're all gay--they already believe that. The absence of that float will not make them not believe that we're all gay--noticing an absence is a bit hard to do, and they "know" we're all gay anyway, so there's no need for them to consider the issue further.
Changing your behavior to live down to the expectations of the worst in society is a losing proposition in the long run, because by doing so you are failing to challenge their preconceptions, and you are also denying yourself the pleasure of free expression.
In short, to hell with them and what they think.
Timeline is inaccurate.
VastaKustutaPonies did not hit /b/ until January and /co/ remained THE place for fandom stuff till the great purge.
also the term "brony" is also something originating from /co/ /b/ just stole it and then twisted it into something else.
@NorsePony
VastaKustutaStampede?
SO WRONG.
VastaKustutaI get so angry when I see /b/ coining brony. No. It did not. /co/lts used that term from the beginning. Know your meme can fuck right off.
Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the show in at that time. I became a fan just before season 2 began airing even still I was not aware of the live streams and chat rooms that fired every weekend. I'm happy that I know about them now "Thank you EQD!" What blew me away about MLP:FIM was not only how much attention the show was getting, but how much the people behind the show interact with the fans.
VastaKustutaThis is the first time I read the real name of Seth, and I accidentally read "Shaun Scootaloo". Sorry dude, now I won't be seeing your surname as any other thing but Scootaloo.
VastaKustuta@Al_Skylark
VastaKustutaEverytime I see it I always read it as Scootaloo by mistake. I didn't say it because I thought I'd get sent to the moon :P
I love how Arizona is becoming this weird mecca of brony culture (probably secondary to New York).
VastaKustutaPhoenix bronies represent!
I click on the link, and Google says it can't connect. Apparently a brony stampede took down another server. :D
VastaKustuta@NorsePony
VastaKustutaI'm liking the sound of "manestreamed."
Ok, everypony, their site is currently back online.
VastaKustuta@Abalidoth
VastaKustutaAh yeah! And I like the thought of this being the center of bronydom. I'd save so much money!
ASU? NO. U of A please. Or NAU. Even if ASU is 45 minutes from my house, I don't want to go there.
VastaKustutaoh yeah i remember that journalist was nice, she interviewed me.
VastaKustuta@kfish5050 - what's so bad about ASU? It rocks here.
VastaKustuta@ Puzzle Plate - yeah, she is nice :) I know her personally. She became a brony after writing that article :)
@kfish5050
VastaKustutaOh, shaddap Keith.
Yes, I recognize you.
@Abalidoth
VastaKustutaActually, I personally believe that Arizona is the #1 brony haven world-wide. It definitely helps that we have Sethisto among our ranks. He lives in Glendale, IIRC; not completely certain though.
And just to clarify all the timezone stuff from above, Arizona is UTC - 7; Arizona - yes, Arizona has it's own timezone subset, due to not recognizing DST.
