Also: the Artist Training Grounds final day submissions must be eating everyone's time, cuz otherwise there's no way I of all people would get a first like I just did.
Wow, he seems to have a more intricate way of doing it than I do. Curling the hair on mine simply involves pencils and markers, more or less. lol These are really good.
That's roughly the same amount of time mine took, and I now have an indentation in the side of my middle finger from my own pencil. I'm proud to say that every day of the event contained a piece of my mediocre art.
@shadowfalcon76 The first three days, I had at least four hours to work with. Yesterday and today I only had two hours. My wrist is in agony right now. I think I might have been doing something wrong. I think I'm not going to be doing any drawing for the moment.
@Shiranai Don't fret. I'm sure we'd all start our stories about our path towards being bronies like that. Even I would have been doubting it, and I'm a very open-minded person.
@Bombedrumbum Haha, grateful for what? I wasn't even trying to first. It just happened.
@CityFlyer502 I had a day one entry that I sent in that never got posted. All five of them are on my dA page (same name as here). I don't think too many even noticed them, however.
As to the actual topic at hand (now that we've derailed it sufficiently), I'm debating on whether or not I actually want to get a Pinkie Pie to give this a try. I'm missing a lot of other supplies to do it, though. Bah!
@shadowfalcon76 Not the first time a topic's been derailed. Not by a long shot. As far as your drawings, I think I've commented on them, but my memory of the past few days is kind of spotty at best. All I really remember is going through the week and scribing drawings of ponies on digital paper. Now that you mentioned you have a dA page, I think I'll go take a look.
Back on topic, not sure how much time I'd be willing to commit to this if I had the figures. My sister would probably get a hold of them and undo hours of hard work. I know; keep them under lock and key. But she's a pretty big pony fanatic herself. It would be hard to keep them away from her.
@CityFlyer502 Also: It's just the 5 entries I put in for the ATG this week, nothing more. I've had the account for a long time, just never really put in any art for it because I don't do much art to begin with (none, really).
...wow, it's like you guys are psychic. I just got myself a Fluttershy today, my first figure, and I was stressed cause I never thought I'd get her hair right!
@shadowfalcon76 That could work. But she is freaky clever for being a five year old. If we're ever planning everything, we gotta meet in private; she can figure out pretty much anything by just listening to our conversations.
Thank god I totally don't have a Fluttershy one over which I'd been somewhat fretting that issue that I bought when my local Walmarts didn't have the blind bags!
I s'pose y'all will have to take my word for it, but this is Count Schlick, the fellow that made the tutorials featured in this article. I'm kind of freaking out right now because I just came from visiting deviantART and mah message box kind of asploded because I have an article on EqD. I just wanted to thank PK and the EqD gang for featuring my tutorials on the site, as well as everyone here who has left kind comments and has used my tutorials. I know this sounds cheesy, but this is literally a dream come true. Alright, I'm off to go continue freaking out now. . .
@Pinkie Guy You also have the name of a pony musician I know of. You're not him as well, are you? 'Cause that much talent in one person would be ludicrous.
Nope, I think that's somepony else. I do a little music composition from time to time, but it's mostly me screaming about bacon or picking my nose whilst attacking a ukulele or keyboard.
I used this guy's Pinkie and Rarity tutorials for mine and they look excellent. And I have to redo my Fluttershy anyway, so I'll probably come back to this one.
This made me buy my own pony :P I always told myself I'd get one only if I won a plushier bid first but these make the Hasbro figurines looks simply MARVELOUS!
I'm not sure if anyone will read this, but I just finished my Twilight Tutorial as well, which can be found here: http://countschlick.deviantart.com/art/Twilight-Sparkle-Hair-Tutorial-291845126

Well, if ever I get a Pinkie Pie, I'll look this up!
ReplyDeletebut i only have one toy. :[
ReplyDeleteAlso: the Artist Training Grounds final day submissions must be eating everyone's time, cuz otherwise there's no way I of all people would get a first like I just did.
ReplyDeleteI really like her mane!
ReplyDeleteI might have to file this away under "future use." I don't have a pony figure to call my own yet.
ReplyDelete@shadowfalcon76 You have no idea how much time was eaten this week, at least for me.
ReplyDelete*Saved for possible future use. =D
ReplyDeleteI've got a $50 amazon card and I do believe ponies are in order.
Bookmarking for great justice. As soon as I can, I'm getting me a figure.
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteIndeed, we all spent quite a bit of time this week. But at least it was fun!
Finally! My Rarity's hair is a mess!
ReplyDeleteI also need a Rainbow Dash hair tutorial.
This is a completely manly thing for men to do.
ReplyDeleteBookmarking, must try, don't have any MLP:FIM figures...
ReplyDeleteTO THE DEPARTMENT STORE!
I don't like how Hasbro uses us to get more money.
ReplyDeleteI'd better get Customs.
@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteMy average time for each of my submissions was around 2 hours. Hand slightly cramped cuz of all the pencil holding I did.
@Vera No doubt about that. Most fun I've had in a long time, even if the undersides of my eyes look like I've taken a sharpie to them.
ReplyDelete@Zegaroth
ReplyDeleteSays the brony. :P

@Zegaroth
ReplyDeleteI can imagine this in the back of a magazine under the heading:
OF INTEREST TO MEN
Right next to the mail order brides.
I want merch now that I know that the abomination of their hair can be fixed.
ReplyDeletewell, i do have a Fluttershy toy. I could do something with it, i guess.
ReplyDelete@shadowfalcon76 The first three days, I had at least four hours to work with. Yesterday and today I only had two hours. My wrist is in agony right now. I think I might have been doing something wrong. I think I'm not going to be doing any drawing for the moment.
ReplyDelete@MyBoyJ If that ever gets done, that should definitely be in the roundup. No! Give it it's own post. :D
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteTechnically any of us could probably make it happen if we wanted to pay for an ad...
@shadowfalcon76
ReplyDeleteWell, at least you made it!! Granted, there's not that high of a bar, but there is still a bar nonetheless!
Also, be grateful that i've stopped trying to stop firsts. I can go back if I feel the need.
@MyBoyJ While that does sound cool, at the moment all my bits are going towards BroNYCon.
ReplyDeleteI shall not stand by and allow such things to pass unabated!
ReplyDeleteWITCH! your obvious displays of magic and wizardry is undeniable PROOF!
You shall BURN at the steak on the morn!
...
Unless some swanky fellow comes along and argues points and displays the obvious flaws in logic...BUT unless that! BURN THE WITCH!
@Bombedrumbum I think the only bar in this case was whether you were willing to show what you had no matter how good or bad it was.
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteAnd my bits would also be going towards BroNYCon, if I had any bits...
I PLACE A POX UPON YOUR HEAD WORTHLESS PHILOSOPHY DEGREE!
If, one year ago today, you would have told me I'd be reading a blog post about styling toy pony manes... I'd have called you crazy.
ReplyDeleteConfound these equines.
@CityFlyer502 EXACTLY!
ReplyDelete@Shiranai Don't fret. I'm sure we'd all start our stories about our path towards being bronies like that. Even I would have been doubting it, and I'm a very open-minded person.
ReplyDeleteI totally used the Pinkie one a while back for my first ever restyle. :) http://tonboko.deviantart.com/art/My-first-restyled-MLP-Pinkie-Pie-271570339
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502 Knowing myself........yeah, probably....
ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteHaha, grateful for what? I wasn't even trying to first. It just happened.

@Tonboko
ReplyDeleteThat actually looks pretty good. I can hear the singing telegrams as I type.
@Shiranai
ReplyDeleteI had a similar reaction a couple weeks back when I realized I'd spent three hours on a Sunday morning styling my new ponies. . .
I regret nothing.
I really like their manes.
ReplyDelete@shadowfalcon76
ReplyDelete3......2........1........................
@shadowfalcon76 wow, of all the things to be posted, it was already something that i've commented on
ReplyDelete@shadowfalcon76 Not the first time a topic's been derailed. Not by a long shot. @Tonboko That's incredible. If there's any doubt as to whether this works, this!
ReplyDeleteThe Rarity hair is fantastic, I can only imagine the hours getting that right.
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteDecoy her, then. Style a good copy and put that under lock and key, and then get her a second copy to keep her occupied.
@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteAlso: It's just the 5 entries I put in for the ATG this week, nothing more. I've had the account for a long time, just never really put in any art for it because I don't do much art to begin with (none, really).
This ATG thing was the first I've drawn in years.
I just remembered,y history teacher is a huge MLP fan. Not a necessarily a brony, however........
ReplyDeleteShe is a fan of the original my little pony, and has a G1, 2, 3ish Pinkie Pie. If I wasn't a closet brony, I might just get some extra credit....
...wow, it's like you guys are psychic. I just got myself a Fluttershy today, my first figure, and I was stressed cause I never thought I'd get her hair right!
ReplyDeleteThanks folks!
@shadowfalcon76 That could work. But she is freaky clever for being a five year old. If we're ever planning everything, we gotta meet in private; she can figure out pretty much anything by just listening to our conversations.
ReplyDeletemust say that these are a-mane-zing!
ReplyDelete...
I am sorry internet.
@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteThen don't talk about it (or make sure you're off-camera when you do)? Unspoken Plan Guarantee works for a reason!
Welp, off to the nearest department store as soon as I can.
ReplyDelete@shadowfalcon76
ReplyDeleteI never show my fave on camera
*face
ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteAs long as you avoid that 4th wall, it's a close enough approximation.
@Pantaro
ReplyDeleteI wanted to post that on every one of them but kept my mouth shut.
@shadowfalcon74
ReplyDeleteYeah....i've lost all comprehension of what is going on....
Smiley face (= fluttershy in real life!!! I love her!
ReplyDeleteAwesome tutorials, and for the three best ponies too!
ReplyDeleteI already did all my pony hair using another guide..
ReplyDeleteWow, the fluttershy one helped so much! Thanks, countschlick
ReplyDelete@orangearithmetic
ReplyDeleteYour profile pic..........it scares me.......
@orangearithmetic well played......
ReplyDeleteThank god I totally don't have a Fluttershy one over which I'd been somewhat fretting that issue that I bought when my local Walmarts didn't have the blind bags!
ReplyDeleteThat Fluttershy in insane. The hair is perfect to the letter :O
ReplyDeleteGranted, those were some pretty intense steps. I think I can build a model airplane in less time.
But yea, the results are mind blowingly awesome
I s'pose y'all will have to take my word for it, but this is Count Schlick, the fellow that made the tutorials featured in this article. ReplyDeleteHairrrr
ReplyDelete@Pinkie Guy You also have the name of a pony musician I know of. You're not him as well, are you? 'Cause that much talent in one person would be ludicrous.
ReplyDeleteI got my girlfriend a Fluttershy for Christmas. I sent her a link.
ReplyDeleteSo... you want me to brush hair of a little pony figurine? Are you *yay*ing kidding me?
ReplyDeletePinkie Guy... YOU ARE A CHAMPION MY FRIEND!
ReplyDelete@Tangelo
ReplyDeleteNope, I think that's somepony else. I do a little music composition from time to time, but it's mostly me screaming about bacon or picking my nose whilst attacking a ukulele or keyboard.
Wow, these are comprehensive!
ReplyDeleteAnd detailed!
ReplyDeleteThese are old. They work awesome by the way.
ReplyDelete@Maquabra
ReplyDeleteDude. If it's not your thing, don't do it.
I have a Pinkie and a Rarity, But no Fluttershy :(
ReplyDeleteBut my sister has a Fluttershy!
… Too bad she won't let me do it's hair…
My Fluttershy and Rarity look as just as good these, but my poor Pinkie Pie needs a lot of work. I'm sure this tutorial will help with that.
ReplyDeleteFinally! I can fix my Fluttershy's frizzly hair
ReplyDeleteBut....but what about applejack?
ReplyDeleteBut....but what about applejack?
ReplyDeleteThis is very manly. Also, I have a Fluttershy right next to my computer. I think I'll work on this later.
ReplyDeleteI used this guy's Pinkie and Rarity tutorials for mine and they look excellent. And I have to redo my Fluttershy anyway, so I'll probably come back to this one.
ReplyDeleteThis made me buy my own pony :P I always told myself I'd get one only if I won a plushier bid first but these make the Hasbro figurines looks simply MARVELOUS!
ReplyDeleteall we need is twilight's, applejack's and rainbow dash's.
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for parents to leave for a few hours... My fluttershy has a bad hair day, to say the least...
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if anyone will read this, but I just finished my Twilight Tutorial as well, which can be found here: http://countschlick.deviantart.com/art/Twilight-Sparkle-Hair-Tutorial-291845126
ReplyDeleteWe need a rainbow dash tutorial!
ReplyDelete@blackroses666
ReplyDeleteNo problem! I just finished it a couple of days ago, and it is right here: http://countschlick.deviantart.com/#/d56x3jz
. . . and now Applejack has a tutorial too! Tadah: http://countschlick.deviantart.com/#/d5m37go
