It's more often than not instrumental and classical when it has my name apart of it's title in some form. ;)
ReplyDeleteI liked all three. Especially the second two. The second is nice and robust just as I like'em. And the third is very sweet-sounding and calm.
Ah, why I like Octavia. A representative of class. It's been awhile since I heard some attempts at contemporary music of this genre. Crossing my fingers.

This is the first time that I have ever done that, and I have been frequenting EqD since summer. Well done. I am a classical pianist, and I am a sucker for classical/symphonic music.
ReplyDeleteBaschfire, you always were the best IMO for classical music from this fandom. Makkon is the best instrumentalist IMO, however.....but that might be a bit biased, considering it's his music that got me into this fandom

ReplyDeleteAnything that has caffeine in it is quite poisonous to me. I really don't like mountain dew as it made me deathly sick once and it's a heavily caffeine ladened drink.
One of the reasons why Sprite and fruit juices are all I basically drink other then water.
Good music, but I've been listening to Waterflame's 'Race around the World' for the last hour. (Spagonia Day Rooftop Run from Sonic: Unleashed and Super Mario Galaxy 2: Puzzle Plank Galaxy respectively are some of my favorites. At least classical music isn't dying out.)

Classical music will never die out. It has withstood the test of time, something that barely any other genre can account for.

@Bombedrumbum That makes two of us then. I enjoy rock and roll as much as the next guy, but there's something about classical music that keeps me coming back to them. It has the ability to go from soft & sweet to downright insane with dozens of instruments bombarding your ears at the same time. What's more, over half my music library is classical or some kind of instrumental music.

#2 Love the gradual swings in intensity. Goes from tame to powerful and then back to tame.
#3 I couldn't help but close my eyes and get lost in the melody. It was just so sweet and relaxing.

ReplyDeleteAs a classical pianist, I have learned to enjoy the music from all of the ages, be it the Romantic era, Baroque era, or just plain contemporary. Classical music has been downplayed a lot in today's society, and it really is a shame.....

@Bombedrumbum Well like you pretty much said, it's been a constant over the years. And there's so many different "flavors" of classical music. There's a really good classical station here in New York that touches all the bases. Shame about the downplaying. If people would get rid of their inhibitions and pre-conceived notions, they could come to enjoy it. Kind of sounds like our fandom if you think about it.

I sometimes just tune into Classical music, and if I hear a song that I like, i'll write it down on a little heavy-duty waterproof, camping notepad that I have. ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum Quite the list you've put together here. I've actually got most of these in my library, though I can never be bothered to pick out a favorite. Lately, when I'm not playing pony music, I've been playing back an old Horowitz album that I dug up at a thrift store pretty much on loop. But in any case, thanks for the suggestions.
ReplyDelete#1 seems to electronic while both #2 and #3 had amazing tunes and were natural sounding with #2 being the more exciting fast paced and #3 being calming and peaceful. i greatly enjoyed #2 and #3

I think 'Flight of the Bumblebee' was the first classical music I've ever heard and is the only one that I can ever truly remember the name of other then 'Ride of the Valkries' Or 'Beethovens 9th in D minor'.
Hold on... 'Night on Bald Mountain', but only because of Earthworm Jim can I remember that.
My knowledge of music is kind of sporadic in nature in comparison. All I know how to do with a piano is play the star wars theme, which just about anyone could do. (I knew so many talented people and was never good at music myself. Everything ranging from Didgeridoos, Pianos, Saxphones, Trombones, Bag Pipes, Accordians, Susaphones, Drums and Guitar. I know two that can play most of those, sadly don't have the talent to make music myself.)

@D. Shadows my next door neighbor grew up a traditional Italian, and is now very high up in the navy. (That, and a kid in my class who I am rather close to's dad just went to DC to the pentagon to become fleet admiral or something there makes me pretty safe on a naval base) anyways, he gave my brother and I a bongo and a ukulele, which I taught myself how to play. He also has many other exotic instruments, such as two didgeridoos. I actually once seriously considered playing the bagpipes
This song along with Golliwog's Cakewalk are some of my favorite ragtime pieces.

@Bombedrumbum Yeah, ragtime is so much fun to listen but I find it a bit of a pain to get right. The funny thing is that I need to invoke that kind of playing style when I'm playing music from Central America. There's quite a few that are marimba based, so I basically gotta find a way to make two hands do what up to 8+ people do behind one instrument. Something ragtime like is what I resort to in those cases.

ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum It's been on and off for the past fifteen years or so. Lately, I've been more into guitar, but I still break out the keyboard occasionally. And every once in a while I sneak away to a Steinway showroom that's in midtown Manhattan just to hear what it sounds like on the real deal.

It sounds incredible for about a month after I tune it, and then for the other eleven months it just sounds fantastic. I still prefer concert pianos, such as Steinways, because of the sheer quality, but I love what I have.

ReplyDeleteTrust me, Bagpipes aren't easy and they weren't easy to watch someone else play them badly. Need a set o' lungs for them ye' do, also it is rumored that living on stuffed sheeps lungs can make anyone a blowhard. Humorously enough.
I've heard good bagpipe players and it's quite the acquired taste if you have even a smidge of Irish or Scottish monster in the blood.
However played badly, it sounds like you are strangling a cat inside of a cows stomach through the wall of flesh after the demonic cow has swallowed the poor feisty feline whole.
In other words it's the ancient tale of a Banshee's wale.
@Bombedrumbum Wow. I can only imagine owning the actual instrument for now. Since I live in an apartment, we always have to be noise conscious, so I can't even think of getting so much as a small upright. Concert pianos are great, but I wouldn't want to own one; just too big. I'd be happy with a baby or medium grand.
ReplyDelete@D. Shadows Well I'm neither Irish or Scottish, yet I can definitely appreciate a good bagpipe tune. If it's a really good tune, I'll take it in whatever form it comes. Though as far as playing them, I'd be as qualified as Fluttershy is at talking loudly (under normal circumstances.) Just don't have the lungs.

ReplyDeleteMore like this, it's rare to see music like this on EQD, usually we getti'n dubstep/rock/other modern music. It's nice to hear some nice sounds from classical instuments, rather than guitar, precussion and beats:)

ReplyDeleteBoth genres are nice, but I just preffer classic than those modern, these songs, maybe aren't perfect, but they are nice written and performed. I'm just happy to hear something diffrent from modern-dominated fandom:)
