I've been reliving that moment in my head ever since yesterday. You can see it in the video, but you have no idea how crazy everyone went the instant Ashleigh said the line. Only a superstar rock concert could elicit the kind of cheering that went on. And this response is just too funny. Oh, good times were had yesterday. Believe me.
I was there and saw and heard her say it. "the host said "You just fed the internet, and that was the internet rejoicing." I was in that crowd cheering!
I was there and saw and heard her say it. "the host said "You just fed the internet, and that was the internet rejoicing." I was in that crowd cheering!
@Matthew_Pie I think if we cheered any louder, we would have shattered the windows. Don't know about you or anyone else that went, but my ears are still ringing.
@snowfi6916 It's a line from a parody in Ren & Stimpy style called "APPLE.MOV", you can find it on youtube. But the original quote is "F*** you, I can eat all of these f***ing apples". Yeah, it contains explicit language...
@snowfi6916 @Knick-Knack HotDiggetyDemon did a spoof of MLP:FIM, kind of a homage to Ren & Stimpy. In it, Twilight Sparkle says to Applejack, "You can't eat all those apples." ***
Applejack responds with, "Forgot you I can eat all these apples." ***
Both voices are done by someone else for the HotDiggetyDemon spoof.
It's basically the voice actress for Applejack giving a nod to the fandom. If Asleigh actually watched the spoof or was just asked to say it, I don't know.
*** That's not the exact wording of the spoof as others have said.
@bored0stiff I'd be more worried about when the next song comes along. I fear the internet will have bigger problems than indigestion when that happens.
Thanks. I never saw "apple.mov" so I didn't get it at first.
I should probably watch it at some point. Anyone know if Ashleigh knew about the line ahead of time (like she watched it herself), or did someone just give her the line to say?
Hilarious! Max is ultra talented - been watching his work since his "Jerry" cartoon popped up onna my YouTube - cool to see Jackleapp getting Ashleigh mad adoration. Love this show, love this fandom. Love hotdiggitydemon! Yee!
Honestly, I'm not sure what to make of all this. If I recall correctly, Ashleigh Ball and Nicole Oliver, in that same Q&A session, said that they were fine with MLP parodies and such, as long as they were tasteful. I can't say I've ever watched apple.mov, so I don't know if it's tasteful or not, but I have my reservations (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong).
I didn't know these people have never heard of parody and are flawless virginal beings who have never heard a single foul word in all their gloriously flawless lives, lest their precious ears bleed.
Seriously. This isn't Cupcakes. This isn't Rule34. It's just a parody that retools MLP:FiM into a different style. I totally understand that the Rule34 stuff and the Trollfics and what not can be quite distasteful to creators, but even they know such things ARE INEVITABLE on the internet, and that they need only be ignored.
They would not be as successful as they are if they let everything that offended them get to them...
But that was NEVER the point here.
Mature content does not equal offensive. It just means viewer discretion is advised. Only YOU can make mature content offensive.
Regardless of if you liked it or not, or if it offended you or not, APPLE.MOV is a WELL DONE parody, and most creators understand that satire and parody are more or less usually synonymous with flattery and tribute. Just because YOU don't like it cause it's rated "R", doesn't make it something the creators would be horrified by. Many parodies tend to have a much "higher" content rating than the original works.
The VAs and the other amazing and totally awesome content creators for this show are not children... I'm pretty sure they can handle going to "R" rated movies, buying "M" rated games, or watching a parody video of FiM without their mommys holding their hands.
I really don't mean to offend, but I'm dumbfounded by this attitude... Some people can just be real prudes sometimes.
I really do apologize, cause I know this comment will probably come off as a bit aggressive or insulting, but REALLY! Most of the people working on this show are adults. They don't need you to hold their hand, and they don't need you to make sure they never ever ever hear naughty, naughty words.
The vids he does scares and disturbs me, but they are damn funny. When they do the Rainbow Dash one, part of me will cry, part of me will die, part of me will laugh at it all
As did I. It was awesome, but I face-hoofed at once for I knew Hotdiggetydemon would find out and respond quickly! And the clip has created a new flame war, which is silly. Lol, trolls.
For context, someone asked Ashleigh if she could say "Forget you, I can eat all these apples!" in an "angry" Applejack voice. She complied, and the room (and brony world) went wild.
@richfiles Amen to that. To those that are complaining- Vargras pointed out that Hey Ocean! tweeted a link to the video. Would that have happened if it was terribly offensive and Ashleigh found it incredibly distasteful?
These are real people, not the characters they play. And, it's been said, but again, APPLE.MOV is a far cry from MLP guro drawings (which I pray don't exist while simultaneously being 100% sure that they do).
@richfiles @richfiles @richfiles @richfiles To quote Yahtzee, "you're projecting so hard you could point yourself at a wall and show off powerpoint presentations." I've been trying to explain why I don't think Apple.mov is a great thing to show to her, but my English seems to be failing me. Suffice to say, it's fairly tasteless and weird*: there are much more relevant and interesting things we could show her.
* I thought it was funny, by the way. I already said that, but seeing how you seem to be under the impression I didn't like it or was offended by it..
I had my hand clapped over my mouth and tears coming out of my eyes from all the laughter I was trying to hold inside (Grandparents were asleep!). So to see this video (and HotDiggityDemon's response) was just the icing on the cake.
There was one thought running through my mind while the bronies were cheering: how do these V.A.s and producers feel about entertaining a bunch of 20-something males with quotes and F.A.Q.s from a little girl's show?
"The VAs and the other amazing and totally awesome content creators for this show are not children..."
Except, you know, for the ones who are children (See: The CMC VAs).
But yeah, your point basically stands that the adult staff of the show don't need random internet white knights filtering the content from the fandom to them - they're quite capable of deciding for themselves what is offensive and what is not, and deciding how to reply (usually /ignore!) to those who send them content they do find objectionable.

ReplyDeleteOh wow! That's hilarious!
ReplyDeleteBut why did she say it in the first place? Was she asked to? Or was it totally unexpected?
@WizardWannabe She was asked to =P
ReplyDelete@WizardWannabe It was a request. Forgot if it was one of the mods or someone in the audience asked. But what you see is the reaction, and then some.
ReplyDeleteoh dear god, JappleAck has a baseball bat. We're going to perish. In fire.
ReplyDeleteOH GOD, I SO want to live in NYC just for Bronycon xD

ReplyDeleteOn the wonderful list of reasons why I wish I could have been there... Lol.
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly was Ashleigh asked to do?
ReplyDeleteI just heard her say something in AJs voice and then everyone loses their shit.
I just don't understand the context.
Hey Asleigh, you keep feeding the internet like that, it's gonna get a wicked bad tummy ache!

ReplyDelete@Knick-Knack
ReplyDeleteas part of the voice actor's Q and A from brony con, ashleigh ball (voice of RD and AJ) says she CAN eat all those apples, quoting the apple.mov video
