I see Pinkie is assaulting Nightmare Moon with cake. How fitting. :P Though, shouldn't Nightmare Moon be dressed up more as Rita Repulsa? ;)
#2 More awesome ponies in uniforms. I think one of my very favorite things about these images are the different styles of armor we get to see people come up with. Really cool. My other favorite thing about this piece in particular, is how overly happy Lyra is. Dang, that pony always has that big stupid grin on her face. I love it!
#6 Oh no, not Yu-Gi-Oh! lol Trixie looks rather sure of herself. Bet she has a good hand... er, hoof, or something. Eh, give me a ring when you're playing Magic the Gathering or something more similar to that, Trixie. :P

#12 I think this is pretty good myself. Though I might be slightly biased. ;) Pretty title too. I think I can see a little of your violin tendencies in the shape and size of the cello in the picture. It definitely looks a bit like a large violin. :P But that's alright, a violin is fine too. lol One of my favorite parts of this, is how she's smiling. Octavia is so often drawn with serious demeanor's and look's, it's really nice to see some of her drawn with a smile. :)

We all remember her in the Baby Cakes episode. ;) Though the Pinkie piggy bit was pretty hilarious and even more adorable. <3 Luna looks like she's enjoying the show though. So I've wondered for a while, and this is purely from curiosity, are there really well written clopfics? Before I became a brony I used to think fanfics were all probably poorly written and a waste of time. Now I know differently.
This is purely for science, by the way.
#1: Love the Pink Ranger's choice of weapon...

#3: Nice Applejack portrait; I like the side lighting, and the green background sets her off well.
#4: Very fitting portrait for Derpy; the way she's casually hanging off of that small cloud fits her personality perfectly.
#5: I actually guessed that Twilight was making a portal before I read the artist's description, so he did a good enough job there. Action-filled battle scenes like this really make me wish for some sort of confrontation between Trixie and Twilight in the show. Really like the colors in this one.
#6: And a different kind of battling Trixie; good pose and expression.
#7: This looks like it could be a companion piece to the drawing I commissioned of Octavia composing; an appealing concept, executed well. I find the dichotomy between Vinyl's hi-tech music equipment and her quill pen amusing. :)
#8: A moody portrait of Luna with a good use of a limited color palette.
#9: That armor actually works pretty well on a pony.
#10: That would be one interesting nursery. Love the interaction between Applejack and Rarity.
#11: Even the Shadowbolts are participating in the mock battle? On whose side? ;)
#12: Octavia does tend to inspire some lovely fanart; I like the way she's holding her cello in this drawing.

#24: Can't say I'm fond of the language on this drawing, but it's an excellent portrait of Zecora.

This is probably the most innocent, least saucy or suggestive Drawfriend we've had in weeks, and the comments end up being dominated by discussion of some of the most disturbing "fanfics" out there.

Not sure why I read the all of the above comments, but I guess it was rather interesting.
ReplyDeleteAs for myself, the typical grim/dark fic is all I'm willing to delve into nowadays.
Not a huge fan of shipping, unless it actually builds towards the story.
And I find pure gore rather unappealing, not because it disturbs me, but because it's usually rather boring and pointless.
And as to rape/sex stuff, that does actually disturb me, mainly because it's ponies... I mean c'mon.
Now onto happier things, like the drawfriend!

ReplyDelete1) Never cared for the Power Rangers (I was too old for it), but Ponies would have made it rule. I like how the visors reflect the cutie mark shapes.
2) I love Captian Twilight's Unicorn Corps. It stood out in the Training Grounds, and I'm glad it got featured here as well.
3) A lovely AJ... will this weekend's episode finally let her shine?
4) Derpy's cloud is almost as popular as she is. Very cute.
5) Trixie/Twilight duels are always awesome, and we're getting a bunch thanks to the Training grounds.

Seriously though, I find it a bit amazing the artist gave her Cirno-esque wings without meaning to... Now that I think about it though, there was that one image from awhile back where they made an image of a random pony wearing an outfit made by Rarity that held an almost identical image to the water dragoon Meru's outfit from a few months back. That artist wasn't aware of the older look-a-like either. It's almost like they're channeling inspiration from a gone-by year...
On a more humorous note, I love Touhou. Lol ^^

ReplyDeleteThey're not from any Power Ranger or Super Sentai series. I find it odd that people automatically assume that the designs would be borrowed. It's just "a" Power Rangers universe, not any specific one. Imagine it, if you will, as a Power Rangers show made in Equestria, based on a true story.
My own experience with Power Rangers consists of one and half seasons' worth of Russian-dubbed Mystic Force and Operation Overdrive, so I'm mostly just taking the "spirit" of the show into account. Color coded acrobatic ponies in giant combining robots fighting the forces of evil and darkness. I'm still doing research on everything else.
Number three is AMAZING. Wow!

Since when did drawfriend get infiltrated by a discussion on clop/rape/incest/murder/pedo/gore/cannibalism/horror/torture themed fics??? Where did we go SO WRONG to deserve such exquisitely crafted horse manure! Was there an unexpected resurgence in /b/tards dropping by?
I read Cupcakes, and Rainbow Factory, and SAM, and Love.Sick, and hated them all. Cupcakes and SAM were just plain stupid. My tolerance for this garbage is high, and I usually just shrug it off as the ramblings of retards and attention whores. I tend to make sure to not leave myself in the dark in regards to infamous fandom references, so I trudge through the more known ones. Rainbow Factory actually made me rage... I raged hard. It was a total betrayal of the spirit of Loyalty, and a Dash in that situation NEVER could have become the Element of Loyalty, as she epitomized everything opposite to it (yes, I raged over that, vs the horror). In a world where RF happened, and RD had that role... Nightmare Moon would have won.
The horror and squick and all the other disturbing things are nothing more than the fanfic variant of shock images. My brain pretty much discards it all as trash.
It's the psychological stuff that gets me though... The Cough... Oh God, that story had me creeped out for days, and genuinely mad at the author for even conceiving it. Though not ponies, and as horrible a production as it was, the movie The Happening was pure nightmare fuel for me... Nooooooo, that slow pacing!!!! LOL... In all seriousness, It did creep me out.
I would like to thank Lord Pimpington, The Invincible, and wackypony for really having a clue... cause, you know the ideal place to discuss disturbing clop/murder fics about raging ponies violating the life/virginity of other ponies...
