#5: Terrific lighting effects, and I love how Twilight's mane is being blown around.

#27: An interesting, subdued take on Starswirl the Bearded; the linework really gives it the feel of one of da Vinci's notebook drawings.

Actually kinda reminds me of The Secret of Nimh. Now I can't help but imagine him saying; "Courage of the heart is very rare. The stone has a power when it's there." lol
#31 Just has to comment on this ones beautiful lines and deep rich colors. Very pretty.

1-I actually quite like the Dali piece. Creepy, sure, but it's well done and clearly a reflection of Dali with some fun, eclectic bits.

15-I said it once and I'll say it again. This is the coolest Lyrabon in ages and made me super happy. I love the heart on the shield. Also, this is totally how I would envision their relationship dynamics in such a situation.

32-THis is freaking adorable. Freaking. Adorable. All the aggression all the action and movement and then the pillow fight as a counterpoint.

2) I like the slightly evil grin on the plush Trixie over Seth's left shoulder. That's the one that probably comes to life, Chucky-style.

4) I don't know why, but the hooded sweatshirt adds so much to Pinkamena. One of my favorite versions of the grumpy pony.

ReplyDelete#1: I must say this is VERY accurate to the Salvador Dali painting in terms of creepiness. The rendition from Sweet and Elite was nothing compared to Octavia melting in the style she is, especially with the spider on her face replacing the fly from the original. The other elements are nice too, like Pinkie's cannon with a melty Canterlot balloon coming out of it.

But then what about her obvious talent in design? Hmmm, not sure about that one. Maybe she'll find a way to combine the two?

ReplyDeleteI'd like to see something more original done with them; the Fluttershy one from a few days ago was terrific. But as much as I love Spitfire, the concept of just putting her in a pin-up pose with a vaguely suggestive slogan seems to have run its course, yes.
How am I still alive after seeing that Spike/Cheerilee picture? After he jumps up to hug her in "Secret of my Excess" I've been pondering their relationship. Twilight seems to be friends with Cheerilee, and I wonder if Spike ever hangs out with her?

Darn it every time I think of Salvador Dali I think of Adrian Brody's brilliant portrayal of him in Midnight in Paris, and then I logically think of Brodyquest. Then I think of the bronies at PAX carrying a giant Pinkie Pie cutout through Seattle and playing the Brodyquest music. So I guess it comes full circle in an odd way.
