ReplyDelete1) An excellent, epic inaugural Granny Smith edition image. I love the dark coloring, the parasprites, the sinister eyes of the Timberwolves and the Zap apple tree in full fruit. Plus, can I just say that I fully support the "Annie Smith" name the tags give young Granny?
2) Whoa, Granny... what a big gun you have. Another cool dramatic night image.
3) Really, its the cat that should be concerned in this pairing. I like the style here.
4) I guess that last gun wasn't big enough. Wear a helmet for one scene and be a badass to fandom ever more, I think.
5) I hope they were satisfying pinecones.
6) Pinkie's Brew! Such a fun little pencil animation. Love it.
7) Oh, I really like the style of this Fluttershy. Very classic cartoonish.
8) Adorable settler Granny. I liked the pioneer ponies quite a bit in the episode.

27) This is a fun and different collection of ponies, and all done in such a nicely rendered style. So many good night images today.
28) I'm looking forward to seeing all of the zap-apple baked goods that Bronies put together following this episode. How could they resist? Images like this one show they're far too cool.
29) I still want a time-traveling episode.... or a rejuvenation episode... Just get the mane six back to fillies and Granny back to a young mare any way they can. She's adorable.
30) You could get lost in Dash's eyes. Then she'd stick her tongue out at you, and race off to the finish line before you knew you'd been had.

ReplyDelete#1: I've noticed lots of young Granny Smith art since the episode came out, and most of it's been quite good. I love the coloring and shading on this drawing; adding the parasprites and giving them a faint glow was an especially creative touch.
#2: I'm not a fan of combining guns with ponies in general, but in this case it does make for a rather amusing composition. Though you'd think a flamethrower would be a more effective weapon against the timber wolves. ;)
#3: Now there's an effective use of freaked-out Twilight. We're all mad here, indeed.
#4: Dang, Granny Smith's gone all bad-flank on us...
#5: Pinecones!
#6: A very nice little animated loop. Does anyone else get the feeling that at some point this year, some bronies are going to combine for a 7+ minute cartoon to rival the official series?
#7: Fluttershy living up to the last part of her name. Love her expression, and the little curls in her mane and tail.
#8: A simple but very effective portrait of Granny Smith, bringing out her rustic charm.
#9: Where's another pan when you need one?
#10: Stinkehund's Ponyville scenes are always wonderful, and usually feature a sleeping Rainbow Dash. The lighting on this drawing is marvelous, really making the scene look like it's taking place at dawn; I also love Fluttershy's and Big Macintosh's respective cargoes.
#11: I'm surprised we don't see more Discworld references in pony fan art; this is a fun crossover drawing, though it looks like Twilight's the only one taking things seriously.
#12: ... What's with all the ponies and guns today? And how is it that Fluttershy makes even this look cute?
#13: She may have a Ph.D. in Adorableness, but she must have at least minored in Maniacal Laughter.
#14: Young Granny Smith is so badflank, she makes John McClane look like a wimp.
#15: Nice contrast between happy, cheerful Pinkie and depressed, angry Pinkie.
#16: Unusual style (sorta manga-ish?), but it works nicely for sleepy Fluttershy.

#19: This artist apparently is influenced by CrookedTrees, which is certainly not a bad thing (even if I don't care for the content of much of CrookedTrees's works). I love unusual, highly symbolic fanart like this.
#20: Very nice promo art for RuBrony Con; the warm colors really work well, giving the piece a celebratory feel.
#21: Speaking of celebratory... I'm sure this is meant as a shipping drawing, but I can't help seeing it as two warriors giddily celebrating a hard-won victory. Don't ask me why, but that's the vibe I get from this picture.
#22: Nice balancing job with this drawing, capturing Diamond Tiara's pompous attitude while keeping the drawing itself appealing. So, when do we get fan art of her in bunny ears?
#23: Even a decided non-fan of shipping like me has to admit that mid-air nuzzling is cute.
#24: I love the expressions here; this does seem like what this particular relationship would be like.
#25: Terrific style on this portrait of Fluttershy, with some marvelous colors; I really wish Hasbro would be bold and use art like this on some of their official merchandise.
#26: I like the stylized, sorta-flat look of this portrait; Trixie still looks cocky, but a little toned down, as though maybe she did learn something in Ponyville.
#27: And this is the "alpha" version? I can't wait to see the finished drawing; this drawing has oodles of charm, and terrific lighting and coloring, as it is. Is Owlowiscious there to keep an eye on things?
#28, #29: More young Granny Smith fanart; I love the pose in #28, and of course Solar Slash is a master of cuteness in #29.
#30: A simple, iconic portrait of Rainbow Dash, actually looking fairly relaxed for once.
