ReplyDelete#4: It's always nice to see Twilight Sparkle and Celestia just chilling together; this is just a charming drawing, with excellent linework, coloring, and shading.
#7: That's a rather dark image for a Drawfriend, isn't it?
#8: Those two always look cute napping together. Rainbow Dash's tail being draped over Fluttershy is a nice touch.
#9: Now that's an unexpected crossover drawing. Both characters are strong enough to basically warp their respective realities, but I'd say Celestia has a slight edge.
#10: The artist did an excellent job of capturing each Crusader's personality through their expression as they're running; I love seeing fun, cartoony images like this.
#13: A bit more humanized than I like, but I do appreciate seeing Octavia just doing ordinary pony things.
#14: It doesn't matter who best pony is, Fluttershy is always cutest pony.
#20: Can Equestria survive the existence of two Pinkies? Love the use of color.
#21: Another steampunk drawing, this time featuring a radically stylized Rainbow Dash; I love the final result.
#22: The third in the series of Haunted Mansion inspired drawings; Twilight actually looks pretty calm for someone perched atop a keg of high explosives.
#26: And a nice action image of Rainbow Dash to close the drawfriend.

ReplyDeleteLooks free of new episode spoilers on first glance as well. Let's get to it.
1) Swanky club! I wonder where Twilight carries her I.D. She doesn't look old enough to avoid being carded.
2) Spitfire even flies in pin-up formation! I like the collection of the airborne cast.
3) How dare you take the cake! Nice work from Caine Scroll of Irate Pinkie. I loved her little freak-out from that episode.
4) A very sweet Twilight and Celestia as well. Twi is such a teacher's pet... No wonder she could never be Dash's.
5) Still like this one.
6) fluttershy makes any hat cute. It's a gift.
7) Interesting... is that a Pinkamena Alicorn? The chubby little Luna and Celestia are adorable.
8) Dash's plot is the best pillow? Well, why not?
9) The Darkside has nothing on the magic of friendship. I did not see this image coming, somehow.
10) The fun is guessing who/what they're running from. Rarity? The Cockatrice? Angry bees? Speaking of bees, was today the first episode with bees where Twilight didn't get stung?
11) Still like this one.
12) Is that Scootaloo? What bad influence got her smoking? Probably that unsavory Camel.
13) I didn't recognize Octavia right away, but I do like the relaxed breakfast scene quite a bit. Nicely done.
14) It's definitely cute, yes... but I was really hoping for some bunny suits. Love her adorable, excited grin.
15) "I don't know what hit me officer... I just saw a flash of cyan and red, and then the world went black."
16) Hmmmm... I'm guessing that's blood from the title. Yikes. A striking image though.

18) Rarity has let her hair grow out. Neat graphic design.
19) Aw... Celestia is the best big sister ever. A very cute drawing of the sisters.

And #1 is definitely more impressive in full size than as a thumbnail. Great job with the colors and details.
Woohoo! This drawfriend looks awesome, though I'm slightly surprised there's no Young Granny Smith yet, people usually hop on this stuff faster than I can even watch the episode...

#2: I like the embers around Spitfire in this one, would be great if every notable pegasus got their motif in their trail, though that might be hard to pull off.
#3: ASSAULTING IT WITH CAKE! Pinkie Pie is best projectile user!
#4: As much as I really love sweet and simple pics like this, I will point out that I believe Celestia is having some major problems with her right eye, what with Twilight stabbing it and all. Or maybe I'm just seeing things that aren't there.
#5: Giant wing version of Rainbow Dash... I really like the art style of this, other than the fact that her head seems a bit small compared to everything else, I'm VERY fond of this one. Just looks sleeker I guess?
#6: D'awwww... Fluttershy would be a great medic, just make sure she's well out of range of whatever dangers are associated with who she's treating. Injured Fluttershy hits me harder than a punch to the gut...
#7: Alicorn Overlord Pinkamena...? Oh...that's rather bad. With a cupcake motif to boot! Points for the creepiest I've ever seen filly Celestia and Luna as well!
#8: Best pillow AND blanket! ...I bet RD's tail is soft...
#9: I think this one might be more tense if Celestia didn't look so... gleefully determined? Hard for me to pin down the words for that expression, but it makes me almost feel bad for Vader being on the receiving end of Celestia's wrath.
#10: Terrified CMC, maybe they're running from #9?
#11: Meep... ponies witnessing forest fires is always something that gets a tear or two from me... but her eye in this... Very good job portraying that terror and sadness just from that. This one actually hit me kind of hard.
#12: Interesting, I like the darker tone of this, though I think the black eyes may have been going overboard.
#13: Octavia? Yep! I think I'm repeating myself by now, but I'm very fond of these simpler pieces. Just that tired happiness, makes me think about how I love mornings that turn out this way.
#14: Fluttershy cuteness overload! The full body pajamas would be plenty enough to push me over the edge, but that FACE! She's just so happy! I can't help but smile and laugh as well.
#15: Simply drawn Rainbow Dash is kicking my screen. And it's awesome.
#16: I'm not really sure what's going on, but it's... 'tense' is the wrong word, but I'm not really sure what else to say. It's a beautiful piece, and under other circumstances, I'd love to use it as a wallpaper... it just makes me feel a bit uneasy. Still a great piece though.
#17: Stylish Rainbow Dash makes every other use of that caption irrelevant!
#18: Squee! Implied Rarity on a solid dark background. Love stuff like this!
#19: Oh my, points for cutest filly Luna I've ever seen, as well as biggest d'aww for the royal sisters that I think I've ever emitted!

#9 By the look on Celestia's face, it almost seems that she was expecting him. Also that she isn't planning on fighting him, rather more sit down and talk over a drink. This leads to the conclusion that Princess Celestia is actually part of the Sith, and Luna is the Rebel Alliance. I believe this was not what the teams were originally...

ReplyDeleteI tend to think that the "Pinkamina Alicorn" is Pinkie Pie's true mother, Princess Cupcake Sprinkles. When Discord took over Equestria, Princess Cupcake Sprinkles used the last of her strength to send Pinkie away after Discord had taken away Pinkie's alicorn traits. Celestia and Luna went on to kick Discord's ass and seal him in stone but they assumed that the daughter of Princess Cupcake Sprinkles was destroyed and took advantage of the power vacuum to take over the throne. Being adopted would explain why Pinkie looks and acts nothing like the rest of her family.

@Harwick (soz, haven't figured out how to do the linky-answer thing yet) - Where does she keep her ID? Umm... +1 mane of holding? There is an option B, I'm trying not to think about it.... maybe she has a bag stashed behind Rarity's seat.
@Broznik - Yeah, it's Octavia. It wasn't going to be but it just sort of turned out that way. On my original sketches her cutie mark is different.
@Kyronea - The human bloke and girl behind the bar, as well as the couple by the stairs are some of my characters from various other projects (it was just easier to populate the background with folks I already had designs for), other than that the rest are just randoms... as are the two OC ponies.
That said I seem to have taken to mentally calling the glassie-pony "Teddy" for some reason and the girl on the far right "Henrietta".
@cheezesauce - Well, your sort of CAN go to that club, the design was based (loosely) on "Cloudland" in Brisbane, Australia http://www.cloudland.tv/ which looks much cooler than what I drew here... it does unfortunately however, come sans-ponies.
One of these days, I'mma slit open one of those RC helicopters and replace the foam body with that of a turtle.
