2. Yipe. Everytime I see a piece of art from when Twilight's magic exploded on her, I feel bad, because I can't imagine it's anything other than painful for her.
3. Is this Commander Hurricane talking? Or is it just Rainbow Dash dressed up again? It's hard to tell.
4. Very interesting style. Sleepy Twilight is sleepy.

#7: I love seeing ponies in traditional costumes from around the world, and Fluttershy (much as Rarity and Photo Finish said) is usually the ideal model. This may sound like a minor point, but I actually love how she's not looking at the "camera" in this pic.
#13: A surprisingly effective picture of Derpy in an unusual scene, observing the creation of a firebreak. The artist's comments are quite evocative and thought-provoking (though it is on FurAffinity, for those who care about that).
#15: ... What the flying fickle finger of fate?
#18: I'd love to see a scene like this someday, the teacher and the student fighting some evil side by side.

No doubt the artist meant nothing more than to create a cute series of drawings, but this is one of those cases were, personally, I just can't look past the ages of the portrayed couple.

ReplyDelete9: You know, in some dragon mythology, they are pretty much touted as being able to reproduce with nearly anything. Given the fact that you have multiple Sentient species in and around Equestria, such as Ponies, Buffalo, Zebra, and Mules... Is it that hard of a stretch to imagine that the intellect of these creatures has them all being much closer to each other genetically than one might imagine. Dragons might even have some other mechanism of reproduction, such as adaptive gene insertion, or some weird crazy thing like that...
Or "romance" is magic, I ain't gotta esplain nuttn'.

ReplyDeleteTechnically dragons are quite sentient, but I would highly doubt they would "try" with other species. Ponys would definitely be dinner for most.
Most dragons reproduce through a form of dance between the male an female. Then the female will lay eggs an depending on the way they are incubated, will be male or female.

ReplyDelete1) Not only do we get a Firefly picture, we get an Assassin's Creed Firefly picture. I'm used to seeing Octavia in that get-up... being a fluorescent pink pony probably doesn't help with the stealth. Still, neat composition and scene.
2) I love it when Twilight overloads with magic. Poor little pony.
3) Is this part of a larger work? I've noticed individual panels from comics showing up more often here. Either way, I like this dash and the expression on her face.
4) A long, graceful (if restless) looking Twilight.

As for the Fluttershy sees the future, the only thing I know of is the bit from the last episode where she says "I can see my future house from here!" upon arriving in the new land. If there was something before that, I don't know.

ReplyDeleteWell, actually, looking into that picture more? It's part of series, several images of which aren't even on DeviantArt because they're OUTRIGHT PORN of Apple Bloom and Spike together. (Fairly disgusting, actually...I wish I hadn't seen them.)
So the picture definitely shows the two together, as a couple, Apple Bloom pregnant, despite their young ages. Bleh.
Also thank you for letting me know that it was Firefly...I didn't realize that, not being all that familiar with ponies outside of G4. (I'd heard of Firefly, of course, due to her being Lauren Faust's favorite G1 pony, but hearing about her and recognizing her on sight are two different things.)

I believe a Pinkie-Spike hybrid hatched from it, which is doubly disturbing in light of this current artwork. It might have been a mental block out of self-preservation.
Thats what I'm saying! I cant believe all this time and they never even put pony models in something as popular to hack as Brawl. At least theres a team working on it now.

Normally I'd say any drawing that's safe in and of itself should be allowed here, regardless of the content of images related to it, but I'm really wondering if it's appropriate to post a safe image from a series that includes porn of underage characters. :/

ReplyDeleteNot really looking to defend anything, but I had assumed they were older in #9. Spike is definitely bigger, standing as tall as he does against Big Mac... he looks to be about Twilight's height. And Applebloom seems to have the proportions of the mane six, rather than the very stubby legs of the CMCs... So I personally had read it as future versions of the characters, likely teens.
#9 was cute, until I did a little investigation work on its context. Oh god, I need a lobotomy.

ReplyDeleteIf you're planning on going to BroNYcon and haven't already RSVP'ed, then you better get there early. The convention space is maxed out and the organizers had to cap pre-registration at *650* (more than DOUBLE the first BroNYcon, four months ago). There MAY be up to 100 more memberships at the door, but at this point I guess they can't guarantee that they'll be able to admit any more people. Your best bet is to get there before 10am on Saturday.

ReplyDeleteTrue, they are drawn older, though it's hard to tell exactly how much older. And I hope no one will judge me too harshly if I decline to investigate the matter further. It's possible to see Spike and Apple Bloom as being older teenagers in that particular series; I personally think they don't look that old in #9, but I should have been more careful with my phrasing in my previous comment and not made it read as though there's no other interpretation of that artwork. (Probably I'm being paranoid after that Cheerilee pic, which was fanart for a tumblr that portrays Cheerilee in just such a light...)

ReplyDeleteI don't blame you, which is why I'm not going to ask about whichever Cheerilee one it was. I like to keep my internet innocence wherever possible.
To change the subject, I too would love to see Twilight and Celestia fighting side-by-side someday as in #18. I know the show isn't really set up for that kind of thing, but they stretched quite a bit in this season's opening and perhaps they could go further in later seasons (if we get them.)
Regardless, I'd love to see Celestia get a large role in any episode, beyond being used for exposition dumps.

As for seeing an action scene like #18, well, Lauren Faust wanted to have a balance between slice-of-life stories and action-oriented stories; #18 doesn't look like it's too intense or violent for the target audience, so however unlikely such an epic scene would be I wouldn't completely discount the possibility.
And yes, I would dearly love to see Celestia take a prominent role in an episode someday, whether it's a chance for her to show her power or it's something more lighthearted.

From how much evil and lack of humor is in that fic (yes there is some but the dark well overpowers it), having one that is more like a parody just made my day at 3 in the morning. Yes I say parody because 1, she has a metal detector and 2, she looks more annoyed than worried, which as sated previously is the reaction of most FO players. oh and the sign pointing out the obvious right behind her :)

Still, I think it was worth looking into, if only because I could warn others away from doing so and spare them the pain.
