You know what makes me sad? There are kids growing up right now who will never know how great The Simpsons used to be. Or who Phil Hartman was. Tragic.
These guys are up to no good again, somebody call Highway Patrol and get that cider-making pile of junk banned from the roads! I was driving behind it yesterday on the Canterlot Expressway, and it chipped so much paint of my LeSabre that it made it look like a Delorean! It generates so much soot that it made it look like a BLACK Delorean!
I love how whenever I hear about some pop culture reference in MLP I go to check out the original on youtube and you guys have already commandeered the hell out of the comment section.
For all the folks talking about how sad it is that the new generation won't get this Simpsons reference, other folks think it's sad that you don't get the Music Man "Trouble in River City" reference, which the Simpsons one was based on.
Hahaha good comic. @The Invincible Ahh the old Simpsons was the best. Still watch it from time to time as we get quite a few of the older season re-runs in the UK.
Folks, do yourself a favor and rent The Music Man to see the ORIGINAL version of this song that the Simpsons parodied and now MLP has parodied (or parodied the parody). It may be an old movie but its seriously fun and funny. You won't be sorry!

ReplyDeleteMonoo!...... d'oh!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that Simpsons episode.
ReplyDeleteI could totally see Derpy as a Monorail conductor.
ReplyDeleteSigh, I miss Phil Hartman, he could have voiced the Flim Flam Brothers if he was still around.
ReplyDeleteI think if they weren't so aggressive with the 75 25 split and doubling the power hey could be very very successful.
ReplyDeleteGUESS WHO WASN'T EVEN IN THIS EPISODE!!!
ReplyDeleteAAAAH! I see what you did there! :D

Very funny comic. I like it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, we all know the Flim Flam song was based on Trouble from The Music Man, not the Monorail song from The Simpsons, right?

ReplyDeleteOf course, the Music Man itself was already sort of a parody of musicals in general.
ReplyDeleteBetween it, the Simpsons, and MLP, we're getting into some pretty deep referenception here.
Hahaha good comic.
