The votes are in, and the top ten PMV's of November have been chosen! Definitely a great selection this time around. I think I've watched the one in first place at least seven times now.
@Travis Smith Then I must be invisible. I did manage a first I think last week. No one noticed except me. Didn't feel special or anything.
But going back on topic, this was one superb showcase of PMV's. Some I saw, some I haven't. But I can see why they wound up here. All of them were fantastic.
Number 1 is the best PMV this community has made so far. The way he did it made the song look like it was actually written specifically for MLP. No other video has done that yet. Also, Only 7 times Seth? Slacker... I've seen it probably about 15 or so times. Possibly more than that, I was really watching it constantly the first few days after it came out. Oh dear Celestia I've out-ponied Seth. This is probably not a good thing. Numbers 2-4 were very good PMVs, and the russian one was just hilarious. Number 5 probably didnt get quite as many votes as it could have because it is an abridged series and some ponies didnt think of it as counting. Numbers 6-10 were all good but there was a big gap in quality after #5. Pinkie Sparrow is hilarious but that's about it from the bottom five that's noticeable to me. Personally, I would have liked to see The Manehattan Project to be on there. I would rate it at #6, but otherwise I have no real problems with the list. There were some nice PMVs this month!
#10 Haha, I love when Trixie shakes her ass at them in this. Favorite part of this one. Trixie was definitely my favorite character in it. XD
#9 Like the song in this one. I believe there's also a Derpy version of this song with Prison too. That version is awesome.
#8 This silent film style video was certainly interesting and kinda funny.
#7 Yay for Weird Al! His songs blend so well with ponies it seems. Probably because they're so dynamic and animated themselves.
#6 I loved this one. Good funny song and the Twilight Sparkle voice clips arranged in that way always gives me a giggle.
#5 Friendship is Witchcraft. Aw yeah! And my favorite episode of theirs so far to boot.
#3 Russian Dancing Ponies! Love this song! And with ponies I am a very happy... pony. lol Glad it got in. <3
#2 This was really good. Great song and the video was really well made and seemed to match it well.
#1 Oh wow, I remember this one. Kinda surprised this is the one that won. But it's certainly really good too. I like the song, and the video again was really well made and matched the music well.
I've been saying for a while that if I HAD to pick one PMV to show to Lauren Faust, it would be #1 in this list (The Stars Will Aid in Her Escape / Cosmic Love). Twilight's Charge done in that way was thunderous.
The only one I am surprised that did not score a place or two higher was Pinkie Sparrow. Otherwise all the choices are very good.
#2 is very good, and any other month would probably have placed first.
#1 is arguably in the top few PMV's the community has ever put out. The song fits beautifully, without having to stray far from the MLP plot. The lip syncing is far better than many PMV's due to the fact that they use other mouth animations to get a perfect fit. Also, only seven times Seth? I must have watched it about 20 times, and listened to the song another 10 times more.

I cannot agree more with number 1, best pmv made so far, it just evokes so much emotion and the song itself goes with the story the video tells, also glad to see Pinkie Sparrow made the list cause that one is hilarious

Every one of these videos looked spectacular, and I've already loved Russian Dancing Ponies for a long time, but #1... Mixing ponies with one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. It was breathtaking.
Awesome as always, surprised #10 wasn't higher, forget which number it was but it and #10 should've switched. Hated #1 though, how'd that happen? And #5, holy crap that was funny as hell, nice voice acting and dialogue too.
@Dark Griffon >I've been saying for a while that if I HAD to pick one PMV to show to Lauren Faust, it would be #1 in this list (The Stars Will Aid in Her Escape / Cosmic Love).
To which I would add for her, "THIS is what you've inspired. You've transcended beyond the domain of the artist and entered the realm of the muses. Give Mother Nature a hug for me."
While I don't necessarily agree with the ranking of these vids, I 100% stand behind the order in which they were presented. I'd say...don't look at it as winners in a race or something. It's not a competition. Just see it as more of a media presentation showing off the highlights of this month's PMV selection. Open up with some solid comedy citing a movie a lot of people are familiar with. Just to hook them right at the beginning. If this opened with a typical PMV, I would've lost interest honestly, but by opening with Monty Python, I hunker down with all my eyeballs fixed to the screen.
Then, once they have my attention, go into some of the more musical ones, the more typical (but still well crafted) PMV's, break it up with some variety with the Applebloom redub, some Russian Dancing Ponies, and then when the viewer is good and softened up, bring it home with The Stars Will Aid In Her Escape.
Somebody else said it above, and it's worth repeating. #1 is one of the prouder creations of this community, and the show's creators should see it just to understand how much they've truly inspired us.

ReplyDeleteI'll try again later
I watched this earlier today and I agree wholeheartedly with the choices... some great stuff in there.
ReplyDeleteAgreed without a doubt.
ReplyDeleteFourth
ReplyDeleteI didn't disagree with any of those. They all totally deserved it.
ReplyDeleteI used to be a firster like you, then I took some maturity in the knee.
Aw yeah.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what this PMV owns.
@Aybss
ReplyDeleteYour Forth
I remeber my first first, massive hate waves and then I thought, oh well six is my number when I can
That number 1 song/pmv I have listened to so many times its crazy. I swear it was written about Luna becoming Nightmoon Moon. Great videos!

ReplyDeleteFlorence is number 1, I fully support this... Now somepony make a pmv with her new best song "Never let me go" plx :D
ReplyDeleteGrrr I can't watch. It's not available on mobile.
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteIt will vary when you do it because of the people that might be on at the time. People vary a lot
@Timber
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain bro
Nice choices. Especially no. 1
ReplyDeleteI love these things... even if I did see half of them:)
ReplyDeleteThat number 1 choice was hardly surprising, but it definitely deserved it.

Meh
ReplyDeleteNumber 1 and Number 2 are very powerful PMV's in my opinion. Both captures the moment expertly.
ReplyDeleteI honestly would be hard pressed to decide between the two.

Nice compilation.

ReplyDeletePersonally I liked Russian Dancing Ponies best :P
ReplyDeletevery nice choices!
ReplyDeleteAwesome intro, I like the Glitch Mob.
ReplyDeleteAlso awesome PMV's, my favourite is Sail.

Ha, I loved the Slim Shady pony parody, Just had to put it on my mp3 player.
ReplyDelete#1 Was really good. Can't believe that's the first time I've seen it though.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the Silent Film one. Nice concept and funny to boot.
Dancing Russian Ponies was just silly. Hilarious.
Trixie the insulting Frenchmare. I approve.
ReplyDeleteno competition 'this is war' was my favourite!
ReplyDeleteNumber four and number two are probably my in my personal top five

ReplyDeleteI've watched the PMV that won first place, say... 19,288 times?
ReplyDeleteEvery one of these videos looked spectacular, and I've already loved Russian Dancing Ponies for a long time, but #1... Mixing ponies with one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. It was breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see Friendship is Witchcraft made it in, it's well deserved.
ReplyDeleteI remember #4, that one is quite epic as well.
I can see why #1 won, it's very well edited
Choices are great, have watched all of them(and download most) except for the #1 one :/
ReplyDeleteMust have missed the post.
Great selection, but I think #2 should've been #1. I am an echelon, though, so I'm a little biased. :P really good PMV's this month.
ReplyDeleteNumber one was my definite favorite, but i was glad to be reminded of great PMV's like the silent film and Russian Dancing Ponies. Great selection!
ReplyDelete#1 No surprise here. Best PMV to come out of the fandom in a while
ReplyDeleteAwesome as always, surprised #10 wasn't higher, forget which number it was but it and #10 should've switched. Hated #1 though, how'd that happen?

is there a list of links out there? Stupid country-blocker doesn't let me watch the video :/
ReplyDeleteVery happy and proud to say I finally made a TheMovieBrony list. Woo!
ReplyDeleteHeh heh, hoping I can do even better with my next one.
@Octavia
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to #4? It was so well made, I would have ranked it #2.
This list is my exact top 10 O:
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent compilation.
ReplyDeletewoah... that was amazing! good job to all of the artists :) #2 FTW.
ReplyDeleteMan, how did a bunch of emo shit outrank Russian Dancing Ponies, Friendship is Witchcraft AND Monty Python?
ReplyDeleteEmo fans, I hate your music, but I will do my best to love and tolerate you anyway, since my fave vids from this month still made it into the top 10.
THIS IS TALENT
ReplyDeleteI've watched #1 more times than I care to count.
ReplyDeleteAll were fantastic, #5 and #3 cracked me up and #1 totally deserved that spot.
ReplyDelete#2 was amazing. Though not enough fighting Fluttershy.

"Friendship Ends With You [PMV]", No?
ReplyDeleteawww, and i thought that was great...
oh well

ReplyDeleteI felt that number 2 was just way to serious for ponies. I mean, I like serious pony videos, but that just didn't work for me at all :/
ReplyDeleteNumber 1 was honestly a little dull. It was definitely good, but I think the Lights PMV should have gotten on here.
Besides that, it was really good! I love Russian dancing ponies.
@Magnus the Blue
ReplyDeleteMy bad, Lights was December.
awesome
ReplyDeleteI think the top 2 are probably the 2 best PMVs I've seen so far, although I would have had the two switched in order, but that's just me.
