This sounds quite a bit like Final Dream of a Filly
ReplyDeletehmmmmm might give this a read
ReplyDeletelooks like aww o.o
ReplyDelete@bombe
ReplyDeleteIf it is, I probeblly won't cry that much
Strange that story really didn't
Looks good may read
ReplyDelete[Sad]
ReplyDeleteAT: Memories, Acceptance.
It's a Death fic. I just know it's a death fic. Hey, someone who reads it, let me know if it's a death fic, please.
@Travis Smith
ReplyDeleteFinal Dream of a Filly is the closest I have ever come to crying while reading a fic. Q.Q
Rainbow Dash always dresses in style!
ReplyDeleteSounds rather interesting...I'll have to read later today.
ReplyDelete@bombe
ReplyDeleteThe only fic I've read where I cried openly was an old one about a guy who doomed the entire world, was the only living thing that lived. He soon went crazy an belived he hadn't done it as it had a very heart warming reunion of him an his long dead little girl.
The only pony fic that made me cry, My Little Dashie, you can guess why
@Select Few
ReplyDeleteIt is.
I swear, Dash is one of the most common victims in fics......
ReplyDeleteRegardless of above comments, this fic isn't what you think.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a death fic, but it was AMAZING.
Give it a read!
@Whitefox same with the Final Dream of a Filly fic.
ReplyDeleteThese two fics are VERY much alike
With the amount of Dash death fics an the criticism she gets, I'm gonna make a "Leave Rainbow Dash Alone" video
ReplyDeleteFic was pretty good though
ReplyDeleteI wasn't straight out crying, but I definitely got a little teary eyed reading this. Lucky I caught this before leaving for a New Years Eve party, so I have a few minutes to compose myself. This was a really good story. Thoroughly enjoyed it despite it being sad.
ReplyDeleteI've read like half of this so far, and it seems to be Dash just reflecting on her lost friends.
ReplyDeleteI love sad fic. So somepony tell me if I should read this or not?
ReplyDeleteI try to stray away from sad fics.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm glad I didn't do that for this one.
Well, that was profound.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, I love sad fics. I love that feeling of empathy. ;~;
ReplyDeleteI don't ever cry during them, but I experience the emotion of the characters for myself, even if only in a watered-down way.
I liked this. *closes eyes and nods* Sad fics are best fics.
I've read multiple sad fics, but I hate Dash death fics, I love Dash, and hate seeing her hurt or crying, with one exception. The only Sad fic I'll read over and over is My Little Dashie, and, though I'm not sure if it counts, Past Sins, it makes me tear up as well, where as Dashie made me full out cry. I am glad of one thing that I will receive for a new years present: a hardcover copy of Past Sins and two copies of a softcover My Little Dashie, ordered them from a book binder in Germany.
ReplyDeleteSad, but worth reading.
ReplyDeleteWell I do love my sad fics, and seeing this one was short I gave it a quick read.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I didn't tear up I did come close a couple of times, and I don't tear up all that easily.
Very enjoyable, bittersweet endings are best endings. Well done.
Good but it nearly made me cry D:
ReplyDeleteRead Centerpiece of my Collection/Collection of my Centerpiece, partucularly the second story.
ReplyDeleteWhile listening to this: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/374522
Enjoy. You'll feel like a sponge has gone through your soul.
Great story, but it didn't make me sad which is surprising because I nearly cried at the end of To Be An Alicorn which was very similar to this.
ReplyDeleteManly tears were shed.
ReplyDeleteVery well done. I teared up slightly throughout, but at the end they just flowed. 5 stars.
ReplyDeleteStupid fan fic......why must you make me cry so much!?!?
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about sad fics is I get to laugh at your tears.
ReplyDeleteNo really.
It's funny to me.
This was a very sweet fic, if you ask me. It's Dash reflecting on her memories of her 5 friends who passed on before her, and her trying to understand how it could be that she, the pony without other ties, the pony who was always reckless, how she was the one to survive them all.
ReplyDeleteIt's sweet, loving, and beautiful. It has a bittersweet ending that will ultimately make you happy.
I 5 stared this one.
Also, my eyes appear to have been damaged.
They have begun to leak fluids.
well that was sad, but def worth the read
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading it and i'm still tearing up. It's definitely worth reading.
ReplyDeleteWow that was amazing. I was bawling by the last paragraph, well done.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this fic though I'm not usually a fan of [sad]. Brilliantly written and kudos to the author for this being their first FiM fic :)
ReplyDeleteOther than calling Applejack a boy about halfway in, I liked it. Rainbow seem mostly in character, and the writing is well paced. I particularly like the ending, I felt that it really would be fitting of our favourite rainbow pegasus.
ReplyDeleteInteresting sad story.
ReplyDeleteI just want to say that I hate death fics. They rarely work well and usually just leave you feeling hollow or bittersweet at best. But I decided to give this one a chance, and I do not regret it. It's a pretty quick read but masterful storytelling takes us through an entire lifetime without anything really feeling left out. Yes it is somber, but it doesn't focus on the negative emotions like many other fics with the same theme. Rather, it focuses on the love shared by Rainbow Dash and her friends and her emotional journey through coping with loss, grief, and her own waning mortality. The tale ends on a spectacular, beautiful, and heartwarming high note, and will leave you feeling happy instead of empty or depressed. I've only ever cried reading My Little Dashie, but this story left me JUST short of manly tears.
ReplyDeleteSo is it a death fic? Yes. But The Price You Pay is a perfect example of how the theme can be handled superbly well, and can even make a hater love it. Five out of five stars.
It's not easy to make me cry, but whoever wrote this did it. It was superbly written, and oddly enough a complete inversion of another story, First, where RD talks to twilight and reasons tha she'd be the first to go.
ReplyDeleteIt's...just...so...beautiful. *sob*
ReplyDeleteIn the end, sometimes we get less than what we payed for.
ReplyDeleteDAMMIT, why can't i ever read a fic about them dying without getting teary eyes?
ReplyDeleteThis was actually a very interesting interpretation of how the rest of their lives would pan out. Dash being driven to live by her loyalty, and Twilight being the first to go?
ReplyDeleteAnd while many of the broad strokes concepts were there, there were many clever touches that made this one quite believable despite how different it was from the norm.
Well done
ReplyDeleteThis is the first fic that was labeled "sad" that actually made me feel like crying. *snif* *snif*
ReplyDeletei cried... thats all i have to say...
ReplyDeleteAs I'm writing this I'm crying, just saying... Omfg that was so sad ;-;
ReplyDeleteI like this guy. I've stated before in other posts how hard it is for me to go all manlytears on a fic or comic, and by Celestia, this one nearly had me. That ending was just almost enough to push me over the edge. 6 Stars.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very moving story.not enough to make me cry,I guess.
ReplyDeleteI haven't cried for A long time.
(loses mind,bawls on bed)
This was depressing, until I thought about this one episode of American Dad that I forced myself to watch. The alien dude made the whole world cry.
ReplyDeleteYou sir, are like roger.
D:
DAMN, so sad
ReplyDeleteCried so much
ReplyDeleteconfound you comments, reminding me of final dreams of a filly >.<
ReplyDeleteSCOOTALOO WHY?!?!
*ahem* This story was sad, and manly tears were nearly shed. It was definitely a good read.
Very, very well written. Will most certainly be reading again soon. Eyes were definitely tearing up after each mournful paragraph. I will look forward to reading more of this authors work. Five stars out of five hands down, one of the most magnificent short stories that I have ever read.
ReplyDeleteI hate when Dash gets killed in fics all too often, so when I realized this was a death fic with Dash… wasn't sure if I should read it. I'm glad I did. This one… doesn't paint Dash as a victim, and rather well a very good story, though very sad.
ReplyDeleteEasy 5/5 on this one. Short and sweet, and I love reminiscing death fics, particularly when they are handled well.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to Rainbow Dash. As painful as it is to watch as your friends breathe their last breath, to witness their final moments while you still live, I'll take being in her situation to dying early. Why, because there is a love in bearing the nothingness that is loneliness. To die knowing my friends must bear that horror versus them finding Peace and me taking on the horror I so am willingly to hold so they can be happy.
There is love.
why is this so sad?!?
ReplyDeleteI avoid reading stories listed under the "sad" category normally, I am glad I read this one, this story was the first time I shed a tear over a piece of literature. This story was absolutely beautiful and if I could give you ten stars then by god I would.
