[Sad] [Adventure]
Author: NTSTS
Description: After receiving a request from Braeburn, Big Macintosh makes his way to Appleloosa to help his cousin in his time of need. The visit is shadowed, however, by Big Mac's lingering resentment over an issue Braeburn doesn't see quite the same way. Underneath the blazing desert heat, they air their differences, and discover what the idea of 'family' really means.

ReplyDeleteI may not survive another [sad] story... oh well, let's do it anyway
ReplyDeleteSad tag is offputting. Will wait for comments however.
ReplyDeleteTook a peak at the first few paragraphs, and I'm intrigued. I'll definitely be giving this a look when I have time.
ReplyDeleteAaaaaaaaaaaapleloosa!

ReplyDelete@Cloud Dasher
ReplyDeleteAhahah, excellent plot.
Oh my god, what has the internet done to me! D:
Wow, this was great! I love the Apple family. They're just so COMPLETE.
ReplyDeleteAh, its the winner of the /co/ vs ponychan writing contest. It's a good one.
ReplyDeleteEasily my favourite of the bunch.
ReplyDeleteCharacters came across very strongly and there was a great conflict between the two cousins.
It took its time but that let the story pan out naturally. I particularly liked how it was never clear cut about whether Braeburn made the 'right' decision or not, and that Big Mac's judgement of him seemed just to be how the big red pony delt with the issue, rather than the act actually deserving punishment.
NTSTS deserved to win with this one. A fantastic piece that merited every single bit of praise it received.
ReplyDeleteOf course, that doesn't mean he should let the victory go to his head! Keep down to earth and keep writing, you old dastard. Expecting even more quality work from you in future!
The single best piece I have ever read about Forgiveness and Family. Couldn't have been more personal, and while the attention to detail was as strong as it with all of NTSTS's fics, it feels a little less played out in this one, and it should be - it's a damned desert.
ReplyDeleteI loved this when it won the ponychan vs. /co/ writeoff. It's a fantastic tale of familial reconciliation and reckoning in the desert. NTSTS is truly a force of literary might, and one of the best authors this fandom has produced.
ReplyDeleteExcellent story, I can't find fault with it except for the occasional grammar slip or missing word. Besides that, it's a great tale that has earned a spot in my "Amazing Reads" bookmarks folder
ReplyDeleteThis was brilliant! Don't know why the "sad" tag was there though. It's a bit misleading and could repel some people who don't touch sadfics with a 20 foot pole.
ReplyDeleteEh, to me, sad more means the mood of the piece than some kind of tragic event.
ReplyDeleteprobably one reason FiMFiction differentiates...
@NinesTempest
ReplyDeleteIt's gotten to the point I completely ignore the tags and just go by the description and comments.
I loled at the tags "AAAAAPALOOSA"
ReplyDeleteUHM. GROSS. THIS BETTER NOT BE SHIPPING.
