"Taking it in stride" is something they are not doing however, with their essential "middle finger" in Hasbro's direction. This, combined with the recent attacks on The Hub's non-pony facebook updates probably isn't painting our little community in the best light. Biting the hand that feeds us is something we should practice avoiding.
While I'm on the fence about Youtube shutdowns, an actual full on download site may have been a bit too far. As much as I appreciate the Ponyarchive team for their hard work, FiM is still a relatively high budget cartoon, and with DVD's on the horizon, as well as the iTunes downloads finally stepping up their release speed, it was sort of inevitable.
One thing I do hope they consider, is the audience outside the US who have no access to the new episodes aside fom Youtube. This is an issue that needs to be addressed more than anything. FiM is breaking new ground, so it's not a huge surprise that things are happening slowly, but alternative methods should probably be explored before cutting off the supply entirely.

Dear PonyArchive: as someone who supported you for so long, I am deeply disappointed in your reaction to the C&D and your "message" to Hasbro. On behalf of the rest of our community and in the interest of good taste, I urge you to take it down immediately.
VastaKustuta-- Xyro
NOOOOOOOOOO
VastaKustutanow how will i download my ponies
I would totaly buy them from Itunes if it wasnt bloody region locked to the US/Canada...
Cant buy ponies here in the UK
Oh crap... Oh well, there wasn't much to do anyway.
VastaKustutaBut... I'm too poor to buy the episodes :C
VastaKustuta@XyroTR1
VastaKustutaSeconded. What they were doing was copyright infringement to some extent, and they need to be at least a LITTLE understanding of Hasbro's position. Sethisto said it all.
There'll always be ways to view it on the web, somepony will always have it uploaded to youtube or some other site.
VastaKustutaWow.
VastaKustutaWay to make us look bad, pony archive...
VastaKustutaAnd I used to approve of them, ater that message I think perhaps the moon is a little low, maybe the sun would do?
VastaKustutaToo bad...
VastaKustutaSETH!
VastaKustutaAs I said in my email, remove all the links to PonyArchive from the site. The soon we break away from those peeps the better, no matter how hard they worked in the past this is no way of acting.
Also don't worry about the Facebook reactions. Nobody cares for those.
While seeing the takedown is a little sad, how PonyArchive reacted is completely ridiculous. They acted immature and childish. They blame Hasbro when they were treading on very dangerous ground. Hasbro had every right to take the site down, and PonyArchive looked is if they didn't want to accept it. Good riddance.
VastaKustutaI would like to officially go on record as saying that I have had nothing to do with PonyArchive since the first Cease & Desist hit, and I would like to disassociate myself from the message currently up on the site. I find it an incredibly immature act and I do not think it a wise course of action at all.
VastaKustuta- simonAJ, __former__ ponyarchive staff member
I agree with Xyro. That letter was uncalled for.
VastaKustutaAnd seriously take off that message from the site.
VastaKustutaIts not what we stand for at all!
That was quite an immature attitude, both on the letter they sent earlier, and now the message they've put up. They could have dealt with it better.
VastaKustutaFirst.... i had to
VastaKustutaFFFFFFFFFFFF....
VastaKustutawell shit.
dang stupid phone
VastaKustutaNever used Ponyarchive for watching MLP:FiM. And after seeing this reaction from them, I'm glad I didn't.
VastaKustutaBeing a brony, I am ashamed to be associated with people that choose to answer in such an arrogant and self-entitled manner. It's childish, that's what it is. The last thing this fandom need are people like this.
I hope they realize what mistake they've made and at least pull down the message they've posted and apologize for their actions.
nice going pony archives...
VastaKustutaWhy want we all just love and tolerate in stead of Anger and prevent :(
VastaKustutaIt may stink, especially for fans of the show outside the US, but I understand why Ponyarchive was shut down. I also agree with XyroTR1 that they should take down their "message" to Hasbro. Without them, we would not even have this amazing show.
VastaKustutaPonyArchive should be disowned by the brony community for their reaction.
VastaKustuta@simonAJ
VastaKustutaYou're still awesome in my book. :)
Not cool, PonyArchive. You're failing to love and tolerate the very people who introduced the love and tolerate rule. Shame...
VastaKustutaI commend ponyarchive. Post links to it everywhere, on the MLP, hasbro, and hub facebook pages. Spread the news of hasbro's douchebaggery.
VastaKustutaHand that feeds us? We're the hand the feeds Hasbro.
VastaKustutaAs if they didn't have your tacit approval when you first linked to them. I'm sure you were aware that this wasn't something that Hasbro wouldn't lest slide even back then, since the same information was available then as now.
VastaKustutaYet another PR homerun from the brony community. You guys are really racking them up!
Let's see what happens at BroNYcon in January haha!
Never even really heard of Ponyarchive until the first article about the C&D popped up here. They don't sound like very nice people.
VastaKustutaWhoever is now responsible for ponyarchive:
VastaKustutaI just don't get the reaction. Sure you are mad, but such things will make it even worse.
knowing the internet, an anti-brony probably has a print screen of that message to use against us...
VastaKustutaFuck fuck fuck fuckity fucking fuck. Speaking as a non US brony this is horrible news, especially for someone who found the hubless logo rips they had for download perfect for PMV making.
VastaKustutaNot supporting any non-US-countries is a suizidal mission. The largest ammount of fans is still non-american(rest of the world), I think.
VastaKustutaThat response disgusts me. We bronies pride ourselves on being caring, kind and decent people on an Internet that is often the opposites, and things like this do serious damage to that reputation. For shame, Ponyarchive. For shame.

VastaKustutaThat is not how a fellow Brony is supposed to behave. "Love and Tolerate" does not includes middle fingers to people who actually work to create our favourite show. Sethisto totally said it right, this does not paint our community well.
VastaKustutaI'm ok with Hasbro decisions. I sincerely "hope" they will not touch YouTube streams since I'm a non-US brony and I can't download the episodes from iTunes.
That being said, if Hasbro decides to shut down even those, I'll be disappointed, that's sure, but I'll politely consider other ways, like petitions or something like that. Insulting them is just downright silly.
Nothing I can say here that hasn't already been said, really. I tried PA once, the download went wonky and didn't work, and I stopped worrying about them. Then they were utter babies about the C&D, and I suddenly became glad I didn't use their site. This new message is even worse, and all I can do is urge everyone to stop giving them attention. They'll die out eventually if we all just ignore them.
VastaKustutaAlso, I am aware that some of the admins disagreed with this course of action, and I'd like to thank you all for actually having grown past the mentality of a middle schooler. You guys are cool.
*cough
VastaKustutahttp://www.keepvid.com/
Yeah, way to go PonyArchives... way to be a bunch of whiny brats about this.
VastaKustutaThey're making it really hard for me to love and tolerate them, right now.
I'm actually glad I never used that site after seeing this...
It's getting pretty hard to love and tolerate when people are not-loving-and-tolerating so hard. Seriously, could they have reacted any worse? Jesus christmas machine!
VastaKustutaTheir message to Hasbro was pretty rude :/
VastaKustutaTheir message to Hasbro was pretty rude :/
VastaKustutaYikes - not a very well-reasoned response on PA's part.
VastaKustutaActually if I could buy a subscription to the show I would but I live in Europe. Although I have ordered the DVD just to show some support.
VastaKustutaMan, that's a horribly childish reaction on Pony Archive's part.
VastaKustutaIdiots. I would've bought the DVDs either way. They deserve all the criticism they get for this.
VastaKustutaR.I.P. PonyArchive.
Autor on selle kommentaari eemaldanud.
VastaKustuta@Bakphoon It can't get any worse... The site is dead. They have nothing left to lose and thus why they posted that.
VastaKustutaDoesn't make it right though.
There will always be places to download the new episodes. Just have too look deeper if you want them.
VastaKustutaTis really shameful of them to stick that message on their website. Sheesh.
PonyArchive doesn't afraid of anything!
VastaKustutaWay to be childish, JERKS.
> primarily strives to gain income from a toy line
VastaKustuta> threatens those who spread what they fund for advertising the toy line
I'm not a fan of Hasbro (I wish the show were independent from all that jazz), but "**** you" might be going too far. As a member of the brony community, no one should feel empowered to act agressively towards any person or corporation in the name of everyone.
That aside, threat letters are no fun either and I understand why the one uploading said offensive message feels ... pissed off.
Well, we did this for teh lulz.
VastaKustutaWhy not end it all with a big trolling instead of playing nice with has"bro"?
Stop being so boring everyone, it's not like we're illegal anymore.
@Yelling At Cats
VastaKustutaHow is this a dick move from Hasbro? Their intellectual property was being freely distributed without their consent, and PA was accepting donations to boot. A C&D was totally understandable.
@XyroTR1
VastaKustuta@Desert Rose
Seriously... Hasbro has been nothing but amenable and patient with this community, and this is the first time they have put their foot down in any regards. Granted, it would be nice if the episodes could be bought outside the U.S., but even without this there are and always have been other ways to download it. Regardless of how you feel on this issue, PonyArchive has handled it the WRONG WAY. This is sincerely disappointing, and it is not the Brony way (and I am not one who typically goes for defining the "Brony way")
We, as a community, should take this in stride, and distance ourselves from PonyArchive as quickly as possible. There are ways to express our concern over this action, and there are ways to tell Hasbro we want better access/more options. "Fuck You", in my experience, has rarely worked to curry favor or keep friends.
Aww, c'mon, guys, that ain't the way. An impotent cry of rage through the tubes of the internet is not what your site should be remembered for.
VastaKustutaIt's too bad for PMV makers and the like, and for folks who have difficulty with YouTube streams. But this reaction's pretty unfortunate. The only folks it hurts is us.
I used Pony Archive all the time, but man that was immature. Still, why the fuck is Hasbro taking down the blasted youtube videos and sites? What the hell prompted this? At this rate we'll have brony haters of Hasbro, and then shit will rise.
VastaKustuta@XyroTR1
VastaKustutaAgree. However I sincerely hope that they or somebody else will set up an alternative archive for al non-US bronies.
It's getting pretty hard to love and tolerate when people are not-loving-and-tolerating so hard. Seriously, could they have reacted any worse? Jesus christmas machine!
VastaKustutaI think we need to calm down and remember to Love and Tolerate. We all say angry words when our hands are slapped. Once everypony cools down I'm sure apologies will be given and friendships will be mended. I mean, it's about friendship right? Lets not break a friendship over heated words that can easily be taken back. They are just words after all. Come on everypony and smile!

VastaKustuta"They hosted likes to download episodes and had a donation page, as far as it looks to Hasbro they where making money off of hosting what was copyrighted by Hasbro."
VastaKustutaThis is not my qoute but from what it looks like this was probably the reason why.
I understand the Pony Archive folks being annoyed... but there are other ways of expressing it. They could have made some good points in their favour in response to Hasbro, but instead decided swearing was the way to go. It may have felt cathartic at the time... but it really helps nopony.
VastaKustuta@Overlong Analysis Cobalt
VastaKustutaWhat Youtube streams? Hasbro are taking them all down.
not really shure whats going on i hae never used pony archive nor have i downloaded any pony episodes, but the one thing that caught my attention was the copyright. well i say screw copyright, i think as long as you dont use something like a song for money then you can use it as long as you give credit to the people who created the song. (wow do i really hate copyright law this much :? )
VastaKustutaI just hate this inconsisten policy of Hasbro, the taking down of some YouTube videos but not others.
VastaKustutaI just wish they'd communicate with the fans and say "Ok if you guys download this # of iTunes episodes" we'll leave this stuff alone. Things like that.
I just hate being in the dark about what their intentions are.
Itunes dl are plain stupid. Not outside usa and i dont wont to support apple with 30% of my money (and itunes for windows is just a ver badly written piece of software). Hasbro better start a service for every pony to be able to get that files legally :(
VastaKustutaI'm sorry, but if "The Hand That Feeds Us", while we're really feeding them with our wallets, is going to be a bitch about things despite having racked up so much profits already, they deserve this reaction.
VastaKustutaWhy should they attempt to fix what isn't broken? They aren't losing money on the streams because people still go out and buy the merch, and pony profits have shot through the roof.
It's like telling us not to be mad at them for raging about how both of Merriweather Williams' episodes sucked. If they're going to "avoid brony sites" because we're sick of shit content, and shit actions like this, they can suck it up. We're still here, we're not going anywhere; they need to react to us better. The customer is ALWAYS in the right; that's how you run a business.

VastaKustutaHasbro doing its job is not equal to Hasbro being an evil corporate being.
VastaKustutaI will miss it as a source for my videos, but I do not think Hasbro's actions warranted this response.
I do hope Shout! Factory's DVDs are of high quality. I trust them as a company as I've bought DVDs they've produced before, but you can never tell.
@Xort
VastaKustutaIt's a dick move because this 'intellectual property' of theirs being infringed doesn't hurt them what-so-ever. That's why it's a dick move.
This is awful, awful PR. I just hope Hasbro doesn't assume that that site represented the ENTIRE brony community. This is why Hasbro/Shout Factory needs to get crackin' on full-season DVD sets.
VastaKustutaDoes this at least mean we'll be able to buy the videos properly now even if we don't have an iProduct? It better.
VastaKustutaThat said, Ponyarchive sounded a bit useless anyway. I mean are pirates actually too lazy to go get a torrent now?
Anyway, I'll pay for videos when Hasbro stops refusing to take my money for videos. :P
I'm not surprised the archive got taken down, I can see issue with people having the episodes downloaded on their systems for free.
VastaKustutaBut Youtube is different, we're not taking their property per se and if Youtube streaming is shut down, they're be alienating half their audience. (Obviously not the target market but their audience nonetheless.)
Seems Ponyarchive forgot the cornerstones of the fandom: love and tolerance, guys! :(

VastaKustuta@Zamoonda
VastaKustutaIt hasn't actually been Hasbro that has been yanking down youtube channels and the like. The only reason Pony Archive got slapped with a C&D was because they were offering free downloads for something that Hasbro was already charging money for.
Not cool. It's inevitable the site got closed, no need to become petty over it.
VastaKustutaI do feel bad for our fellow bronies abroad who don't wanna wait a year for a "new" episode to air in their countries though. There'll always be uploads to youtube I guess, just gotta be sure to catch them before they're taken down.
This brings me to my final concern: How long until hasbro asks EqD to stop posting links to Youtube uploads?
I'm with Hasbro on that one. If we want e.g. full DVD sets of the show, then Hasbro needs something to offer to those DVD distribution companies. Nobody will license MLP from Hasbro if all episodes are downloadable for free in HD quality online.
VastaKustutaI was never particularly fond of ponyarchive, but at this point I feel it's time to disown them. They seem to be more fueled by egos than by spreading love and tolerance. I just hope they don't get the rest of us in trouble, and that Hasbro realizes there's a lot of good ponies in this community and doesn't ruin the fun for the rest of us because of a few very loud ones who can't behave.
VastaKustutaWOW....NOW I feel bad for getting downloads off that site. Well with Christmas coming up hopefully I will have some spare money set aside for future episode downloads of Itunes.
VastaKustutaNow that was uncalled for pony archieve! My little bro was in front of my screen when I clicked on your link. Now hes asking me "what does that silly word mean?". You should be ashamed of yourselves "pony archieve". Hasbro is the most deicated team to our beautiful show. This is one of those rare acts of complete arrogance that ruins a reputation. I have complete ttust in Hasbro that they did the right thing. We love you Hasbro & animation team!!! :)
VastaKustutaOn top of that, iTunes sucks. And it's not even that I don't want to fund Apple. I love apple--I own a MacBook, I'm on it right now typing this. I absolutely hate iTunes. I still use my Zune as my music device.
VastaKustutaAnd the whole "No International Distribution" thing sucks too. They need to get their shit together and fix the licensing issues as soon as possible.
I must echo the comments of others saying that PonyArchive deserved this shutdown. It's foalish of us as fans to insult Hasbro when they're the ones making the show to begin with.
VastaKustutaWe should be supporting the show, not stealing from it.
Site might be down but that wont stop BitTorrent. Oh look its still sharing all the episodes.
VastaKustutau mod hasbro?
You guys need some backbone yourselves. There were dick moves on both parts.
VastaKustutaSpeaking as a non US, brony, this is an incredible dick move from Hasbro. Whilst the response by PA is also not so good, don't axt liek Hasbro are saints.
Wow, so many responses already. Com'on, I think we all knew this was coming anyway. Frankly, I'm quite surprised they were up and running and long as they were. lol
VastaKustutaI'd say YouTube is fine. At least Hasbro seems fine with it so far. But a full-on download site was pushing it too far. They were offering all the episodes in even 1080 for absolutely free. And I'm sure that cuts into Hasbro's profits a fair bit. So it's perfectly reasonable to ask them to take down the site.
It is a good thing to support the show by buying the episodes instead of downloading them for free. I just wish there were alternative ways to buy them other than iTunes. Or odd 5-episode DVD's. I also hope they find a way to sell them to those outside of the States or unable to buy them off iTunes. I know that's one of the major issues for many.
Why is this such a big deal if there's metric *yay*tons of downloads on other sites?
VastaKustuta@Zamoonda
VastaKustutaYou want to prove that statement? If Hasbro were doing such a thing, they'd be going after the streams that people actually watch. Like, for instance, XyroTR's.
A video being taken down by "Hasbro" doesn't mean that they're actually being taken down by Hasbro. YouTube's video reporting feature is so broken that you could flag a video for being under the copyright of Gabe Newall and get away with shutting a video or channel down.
I am really baffled by all the "this will hurt our image!" posts that pop up on anything bad Hasbro does... and indeed just about everything, to be honest.
VastaKustutaI hope you realize that no level of disrespect to a company from any Brony makes you look better or worse when there are currently almost 10000 images on e621 with the "friendship is magic" tag; including many of Lauren Faust's character...
It is reasonable to not want to go the way of furries, but they are disliked for two reasons: by the general public, going around in animal suits, and doing... things in said suits; and by being relatively large assholes with a cultish streak. We're not following the first, but there is something to be said for the second.
My view is that if Hasbro wants to screw us, it is on. There can be no good result of threatening your fans, even if the vast majority of them can justify it in some bizarre way.
@Zamoonda
VastaKustutaIf it wasn't harming them, it did have the potential to do so. The more people watch the show on the Internet, the fewer ratings the actual channel gets, the more people get high-quality free downloads the fewer people pay for the episodes through iTunes, etc.
Plus, it is technically illegal, as far as I know. Especially if they were taking donations for this service. It's a HUGE infringement.
@Corky64
VastaKustutaThey had a right to react to it, sure, but giving Hasbro the finger was the wrong route. Believe me, you gain nothing but a bad image when you do.
@Xort
VastaKustutaHey! That's an insult to me when I was in middle school! I was smarter than 99% of the... other... kids... oh.
Yeah, middle schoolers are pretty much idiots. *trolls* >:3
@Vargras
VastaKustutaYoutube videos get cached on your computer. Hence you download the episodes too when you're on Youtube.
They took down the Youtube videos as well, go read up on recent news. All major uploaders have gone dark, most of the more minor ones took down all the videos, saying they won't be uploading them anymore because they got slapped by Hasbro.
I would gladly buy the iTunes downloads if the video wasn't missing an inch of footage on the left and right sides of the screen. I also really do not like Quicktime's brightness and color settings. I have to readjust them every single time, as they go back to default. I'm waiting for the DVD/Blu-Ray release.
VastaKustutaSo, I predict any day now that trolls will use this as ammunition to get rid of anything pony-related on YouTube.
VastaKustutaWay to give them ammo.
PonyArchive's message to Hasbro is rude, childish, and does a great disservice to the brony community.
VastaKustuta@Rainbow Smashly
VastaKustutaThat's Studio B, not Hasbro.
I also agree. I suggest we remove all links to ponyarchive. This was a disrespectful way to handle this. It's not often I am disappointed by this community, but this is one of those times. Simply shameful.
VastaKustutaEh, I never used ponyarchive: I watch the livestreams and YouTube channels, so as long as Hasbro leaves those alone, we're fine. They're entitled to their intellectual property, and this is really the first instance of them 'putting their foot down' in that sense, so I can understand. I don't get the Hub though :(
VastaKustutaThis seems roughly fair, definitely not something to get upset over. It's a shame, surely, but just as long as Hasbro doesn't start, say, pulling down episodes from YouTube I can't get mad at them.
VastaKustutaOn the other hoof, though, it'd certainly be nice if Hasbro would get up some other options for fans to actually purchase the episodes themselves so that they don't need to download them from sites like PonyArchive. iTunes is obviously not an ideal choice for many people, and the DVDs they ARE putting out are kind of crap.
Oh my goodness people... Don't let this deter your pirating. I can't believe you would resort to going to iTunes, that is a sin.
VastaKustuta... i spy two trolls posing as bronies up above.
VastaKustutaAnyways, as to the PonyArchives reaction, I am shocked that they support MLP:FiM and then did that letter. Except for simonAJ and maybe a few others (maybe), the PA staff should be ashamed of their reaction and should submit a formal letter of apology to Hub. Hub does have copyrights and they do own MLP:FiM so the fact that they saw people giving away their free episodes gives them the right to shut down their website, and in my opinion they have the right to literally sue the pants off of the staff involved with the writing of the letter. To all the non-American bronies who can't get their fix of MLP downloads. You could try petitioning iTunes and HUB to expanding the market to Europe and other continents if needed. Im sure since Hub and iTunes both focus on making profit, opening up the pathways to more countries will end up profitable.
That's all I have to say about that.
Hey, the Pony Archive 4chaners should be thanking their lucky stars Hasbro isn't like Disney! Forget just forcing a sit to close, when Disney's involved, NO ONE EVER FINDS THE ADMINS' BODIES!! D:
VastaKustutaDisney lawyers = Gestapo
@Octavia
VastaKustutaHow the fuck do you buy the episodes if you're not from the US, genius? Not to mention the fact Hasbro are also attacking the youtube videos as well.
@Purple Tinker
VastaKustutaStop being so boring, we're just trolling hasbro.
Wow, taking down ponyarchive was sorta a jerk move, but that "fuck you" message.....makes me sort of ashamed to be in the same community as them:/
VastaKustutaWow. I am extremely disappointed at this reaction from ponyarchive. The unprecedented kindness and tolerance of this community was a large part of what initially attracted me to it last Spring, and its been hard watching this fandom gradually degrade towards a run-of-the-mill collection of rabid fans who respond angrily to every perceived slight.
VastaKustutaEh, good thing there are still plenty of pony places online that do overwhelmingly practice the love and tolerance I associate with bronies that I can retreat to. I only really feel sorry for potential new bronies who will associate us with these kinds of messages and not realize how nice we can be if they find us in the right places.
@Zamoonda
VastaKustutaExcept it isn't really Hasbro at all. The copyright claim system used by Youtube is so horribly broken, that you can claim to be just about anyone and you could get away with it.
Hasbro has every right in the world to take down their original content used without their permission. You can't do it for any other form of media. My Little Pony: FiM shouldn't be any different.
VastaKustutaHow would you feel if you made a song or video game and people just pirated it?
I can't believe how the people at Ponyarchive are acting. I feel ashamed to be in the same fan-base.
C'mon guys. Hasbro does have rights too, although it pains me greatly to see this happen; it is a business. They aren't going to change their minds; take it with grace and make bronies look good. =/
VastaKustutaI don't download the episodes anyway.
VastaKustutaAnd judging by the message there, it looks like I wasn't missing anything by staying away from them.
Well, I'm disappointed with their response.
VastaKustutaWhat they were doing was illegal, and their response was childish to say the least. Good riddance.
@Altercation
VastaKustutaThe 'habsro' deal was not so that they won't get sued by Hasbro, as you most probably believe. It's so that they have a @Habsro domain. This was taken down by Hasbro.
Well, I guess Hasbro is officially stupid.
VastaKustutaFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
VastaKustutaI really wish Ponyarchive had been more cooperative before and would act a bit more mature now. Hasbro has been very good to us and this is just going to cause conflict. I can fully understand Hasbro's position on this and Ponyarchive is acting like a whiny child.
VastaKustutaTo Ponyarchive, for the sake of our community and all that Hasbro has done for us, grow up.
Hrm. While I'm pretty sure Hasbro aren't the ones behind the Youtube takedowns, I'm still a little worried about the fate of those, too.
VastaKustutaAnd on that note, are there even any channels LEFT with full, high quality season 1 episodes? The one I watched got nuked last time and I haven't stumbled upon any others with full season 1 :<
i agree, it sucks not having the hub in canada but insults won't make it happen any sooner.
VastaKustutaThe Hub orders episodes of MLP:FIM.
VastaKustutaHasbro owns 50% of The Hub. Hasbro has the ultimate say in MLP:FIM.
PonyArchive has also failed to take into account that many countries respect other nations' copyrights. Hasbro has likely also likely taken the trouble to secure trademarks internationally. I seriously doubt Hasbro will let this go.
Sooo...I don't think PonyArchive has really thought about the message they're sending to the company responsible for the existence of the cartoon in the first place. Lauren Faust approached Hasbro in an attempt to get her Galaxy Girls idea off the ground. Instead, Hasbro asked Mrs. Faust if she'd like to reboot My Little Pony. (Seriously, thank you SO MUCH, Hasbro, for believing in Mrs. Faust's vision and giving her so much creative control.)
I'm deeply ashamed of PonyArchive's actions. NOT COOL.
To PonyArchive admins, this isn't some fan you're fighting against. It's a multi-billion dollar corporation with a sizable legal department. What exactly are you hoping to accomplish by acting so childish? How exactly do you think this will win Hasbro to your side?
Stay classy, Ponyarchive.
VastaKustutaSeth, why did you give them any notability over such a childish response. I know, it sucks when your hard work is thrashed by someone else, but they knew they had to deal with copyrighted material and therefore Hasbro's legal department had to send the C&D, or if there actually ocurs a huge copyright infrigiment, the lawyers in the non-Hasbro side would basically use ponyarchive as their defence in the court. Right now, the response PA made is dickish, and as a commynity we should (as we did), that those guys are nothing but a douches who don't reprisent a whole community with their selfish whining.
VastaKustutaAnd as a non-american brony, I'd love to see the show in it's original form legally. Right now there's only one episode out here in the DVD, and that's Ticket Master with horrible dubbing. So, if you come up
@bky1701
VastaKustutaYou know, treating the company that's responsible for rebooting this horrid franchise and turning it into something we've based an entire fandom on LIKE AN ENEMY it not doing the show or it's fans any favors.
Hasbro doesn't give a s**t about any freeloaders who illegally download their products and have the gall to call themselves "supporters", and neither do I.
Seriously, Hasbro. We love you. Studio B, The Hub, Hasbro Studios... we love you too. Please, please don't let this negatively reflect our community, as you can definitely see here, their sentiments are not shared by the majority.
VastaKustuta@Zamoonda
VastaKustutaDid you read the whole post?
"I also hope they find a way to sell them to those outside of the States or unable to buy them off iTunes. I know that's one of the major issues for many. "
That wasn't needed, don't be rude please.
best news all day, haters send me your rants at j0eplatea(at)gmail(dot)com and ill complie them together to be sent into space on the next NASA mission to the Moon
VastaKustuta@Xort
VastaKustutaI don't have and cannot have the Hub.
Everyone that actually has the Hub probably already watches it there. High Quality downloads can either exist or not exist, cannot be charged for where I am. Not everyone's from the United States.
Does it matter? Hasbro would not have received the money whatever the case, and Pony Archive's donations were slim to nonexistant. Hence why it was a dick move, because it served no purpose than to incite.
@Zamoonda
VastaKustutaI can still find 1080 Youtube, though.
[For the record: I don't like Apple either. At all.]
1) Find brony hackers
VastaKustuta2) Ask them kindly to take down or deface the Ponyarchive site
3) ???
4) PROFIT! Bronies are no longer shown in an atrocious manner for Hasbro to judge.
While I can understand the anger that the people at ponyarchive must have felt being shut down, there is a right way and a wrong way to express one's dismay and anger.
VastaKustutaBut Hasbro is completely in the right to do this. And while they may appear to be a bit zealous, you only need to look at the past of My Little Pony to understand why. By letting the copyright on a lot of the stuff from the earlier generations of pony slip away, they simply can't use some of the stuff. There's a reason why Applejack and Spike are the only names still being used from back then. And letting others blatantly break copyright law only opens the door for them to lose the copyright on the current generation of ponies all that faster.
So, for those of you (humorously, I might add) complaining about 'biting the hand that feeds them' (by the way, I'm certain that the amount that we bronies spend is NOTHING compared to what the targeted demographic's parents spend), you are right, that needs to stop. Stop biting the hand that feeds us the pony. Please.
@Vargras
VastaKustutaCan you prove that? The Youtube system requires that, if you are taking down a video through a company, that you send the letter of copyright infringement from the domain. That is to say, @Hasbro.com.
You can't prove otherwise. That's why we had the Habsro deal.

VastaKustutaThat...that's horrible! I never used Ponyarchive, because well I have youtube and the TV to watch it on (Support the show fellow Bronies! Watch it on the Hub!) But I thought they were doing a pretty cool thing for folks who couldn't get the show any other way.
VastaKustutaBut that response...that reaction is just...It goes against everything we stand for as a community and I'm ashamed to see it come from somepony who calls themselves a Brony. Please Hasbro, don't lump us in with folks like that. We really are about loving and tolerating and I don't thing many, if any of us support the nasty words sent your way.
We understand your reasoning's, its okay and we don't blame you.
It's a shame they're taking it like this, but offering the iTunes episodes is probably what did them in.
VastaKustutaThat said, I wish Hasbro would offer those iTunes downloads in Canada & other regions. Being US-exclusive is pretty much encouraging the piracy they're trying to fight, here.
@Octavia
VastaKustutaHow does it cut into their profits exactly? I will never buy a thing from Apple and do not have cable. The money Hasbro has gotten from me came from buying their products... which after moves like this, is going to stop.
Hasbro isn't our friend anymore.
I do not support PonyArchive's actions and the immature "letter" on the site. Nothing brony at all with how they handled with this.
VastaKustutaAutor on selle kommentaari eemaldanud.
VastaKustutaI was trying to get the downloads before this happened. It actually happened in the middle of a download. However as annoying as it is, how the archive team is responding is childish and stupid. And I cannot support them after this.
VastaKustutaThe youtube takedowns, just a bad sign. This is a bad sign of how far things are going to go. A sizable portion of the fandom isnt in the US. THey need to expand itunes if they want to do this and not have a negative reaction.
I'm rather disappointed with Ponyarchive's reaction, I did used to download from them, mostly due to the whole thing with Hasbro hating everyone outside the US for some reason.
VastaKustutaStill, no real loss, there are other ways of getting the episodes, at least until Hasbro decide to crackdown on Youtube videos...
Ponyarchive, i am disappoint.
VastaKustutanow go sit in the corner and think about what you've said
Small note to people:
VastaKustutaponyarchive (commenting here) is NOT the actual PonyArchive owners.
@Vargras
VastaKustutaAt the same time, you can't know it wasn't them. It certainly seems to be getting worse.
They can send C&D to Ponyarchive and delete all youtube video, but the torrents are still up and running and there's nothing anybody can do about it.
VastaKustutaThere's no legal way of obtaining episodes in my country, so it's not like we have much choice.
(Sorry 'bout the cut out) with the idea how the international community could enjoy the show, please, share your ideas with Hasbro, since I'm sure that if we work in good faith with them, they'll do same to us. Afterall, you gotta share, you gotta care!
VastaKustutaI generally try to keep with the philosophy of love and tolerance ( and keep the language generally clean) when engaging this community, but in this particular case, really all I can say is...Fuck you, ponyarchive.
VastaKustutaI'm not surprised this happened after their incredibly immature response to Hasbro. Shame that one person is making all of us look bad.
VastaKustutaA website dedicated to hosting the episodes is too direct anyway. We should support the official releases. If people really want to pirate them, they'll find the links on their own.
I gotta agree, now excuse me while I go buy all the episodes on Itune
VastaKustuta@Zamoonda
VastaKustutaI'm sorry you don't have the Hub, but that doesn't mean the show has to cater to you just so you can watch it for free. Go to Youtube. Petition Apple to sell outside the States. Petition Hasbro to expand their markets. There's plenty of ways to effect a change, and breaking the law and illegally distributing a company's IP is not the way to do so.
Buying the episodes on iTunes does NOT give Hasbro any money; that money goes to Apple.
VastaKustutaHasbro gets paid in advance for putting the episodes on iTunes, then they get nothing else, no matter how many people download them.
@Kilvaskills
VastaKustutawell in all honesty, I would be a bit excited about it, because come on free advertising= Easy Merchandising.
However, if someone took my stuff, for free, and then gave it out to other people, for free, I would be Hasbro, because I would lose money and have to lower the budget, causing others to lose value in what they loved
Oh well, now we'll just have to resort to torrents posted on imageboards.
VastaKustuta/pinkieshrug
@Celestia
VastaKustuta...
You're right, I'm sorry. I'm pissed right now, mainly because the only way outside of Torrents to get my episodes was via PonyArchive. Where am I meant to get color corrected episodes is beyond me, but I shouldn't take it out on you guys.
Leaving this article.
It was inevitable that this was going to happen, but come on Ponyarchive, don't curse out the people who allowed this show to even exist because they want what is rightfully theirs.
VastaKustutaHASBRO Y U NO WANT MY MONEY
VastaKustutaPoor show Ponyarchive.
VastaKustutaUltimately what they were doing was illegal and Hasbro are a business. Intentions may have been noble but that doesn't change the fact that this will affect their business and that comes first.
The Hasbro Team have been *incredibly* supportive of the Brony community and this is a very childish act in response to a completely normal and well established business-practice.
As a Brit, I agree that apart from YouTube I have no access to the new episodes (I don't have Boomerang). I would *gladly* buy them on iTunes and *will* buy the DVD.
Still, poor show chaps. Some may say "Don't be so uptight blah blah blah" but as many have said this paints a good community in a childish manner.
@Zamoonda
VastaKustutaAre you bloody serious?
Wow. Okay. I'm done being nice to hasbro. Way to screw over your international fans, you bunch of dicks. I cannot tolerate this.
Nice job, Ponyarchive...

VastaKustutaPonyachive's should not have respond in such a hateful way. I've never used this site, but while it's a shame they were taken down this sort of behavior is not was we believe in. This is an insult to not only Hasbro, the team that created MLP: FIM, but also to us as bronies. They should take this site down and apologize to Hasbro for their actions as well as us
VastaKustutaI think their parting shot goes against what the community stands for entirely.
VastaKustutaAll things considered Hasbro tolerate a lot from the net community, a LOT more than other companies would. While I understand being a toyetic show, they don't care quite so much about making money off it. There's not a lot of other companies that would accept streaming uploads the way Hasbro do. Heck they even let the producers interact and leak a little info here and there.
Granted the toys haven't been on top form, though they are gradually getting better. But they have been very good to the community and people should respect that. At least a DVD is coming with potential for more, and better releases WILL come with good sales, Shout are fantastic at supporting the shows they release on DVD so it's in good hands too!
Also Shout releases tend to make it across the shore, long as the demand is there ; )
@Zamoonda
VastaKustutaUh, what? Dude, go search for the latest episode on YouTube. You'll find dozens of links, Xyro's first and foremost.
@bky1701 Quit it with the self entitled crap There are other sites to download episodes if you wish and those aren't being taken down. Like I posted in a qoute earlier this most likely has to due with the fact that there were donations on the site and I qoute
VastaKustuta"They hosted likes to download episodes and had a donation page, as far as it looks to Hasbro they where making money off of hosting what was copyrighted by Hasbro."
Like come on people stop getting so riled up and treating as though this is the end of the world as we now it.
Ponyarchive performed a great service to this community while they existed. I haven't clicked the link. Whatever immature thing they have done, I do not wish it to taint my memories of them. RIP, Pony Archive.
VastaKustutaI just can't wait until Hasbro starts releasing DVDs. I'm not much of a toy person! I want a DVD collection, Hasbro!
Gimme a few lame-o games to collect, too. Good games are better than lame games, but hey, anything would be a start. It's the kind of thing I actually enjoy collecting (and I have realistic expectations about its quality!).
@Tephnos
VastaKustutaHasbro is the one who is ultimately the one responsible for MLP:FIM in the first place, though. Be careful what you wish for.
Bummer, PA was my main source for new episodes. I don't like watching episodes from youtube. But oh well, there'll be other sources.
VastaKustuta@archiveit
VastaKustutaSerious question: how have they been good to us? By not taking down stuff sooner? That's probably why Bronies exist in the first place. By keeping the show on for a second season? ...because they weren't getting anything out of it themselves?
I really just don't see how they've done anything for us. The show wasn't really intended to be what it is; it was supposed to sell plastic ponies to little girls, what it IS is because of Lauren Faust, not Hasbro. Hasbro has only not messed it up yet.
@Zamoonda
VastaKustutaWow, language, kid.
If you reread what I said... idioso. You'll see I said; "I also hope they find a way to sell them to those outside of the States or unable to buy them off iTunes" Meaning, I hope they put in place a way for those outside the States to also buy the episodes.
Don't lash out at people if you don't even understand what they said in the first place.
As for the YouTube videos. Its not been proven that's even Hasbro at all.
@Xort
VastaKustutaWant the truth?
I can't be arsed. Hasbro can deal with it. I'll still pirate the episodes from thepiratebay, but I don't need pony merchandise. Not buying any anymore. Will continue to buy if in three months no new takedowns by Hasbro are made.
Now leaving this thread for real.
@James Corck
VastaKustutaPFFFF pirate bay FTW
Truly glad I never downloaded anything from there. In fact, I didn't know from that site until the news began about the letter Hasbro sent to them.
VastaKustutaHonestly, their reaction is quite childish. They act as if Hasbro was the evil company because of what they did. Other companies would remove their content from YouTube and similar sites the second it is uploaded. Yet, Hasbro has endorsed this. And if they decide to take a webpage that hosts their episodes for free down with GOOD reasons (like this one time) then there's no reason to complain.
Sometimes I feel this fandom is slowly heading the wrong way. I hope this is the last we see of this kind of childish behaviour from some in this fandom (or are they? I would say the people from PonyArchive shouldn't be considered that anymore).
And, to people complaining that they don't live in the US and they can't download any more episodes: There's hundreds of programs out there that let you download YouTube episodes, even in HD. Even if the quality isn't as good as it was with PA, it's really close to it.
Like I said a week ago, as long as the weekly updates on youtube don't get stopped I'm fine. As for downloads, if I really wanted to own the episodes so much I'd email Hasbro customer service for a DVD set.
VastaKustutaThat's very rude of Ponyarchive.
VastaKustutakeepvid.com works for youtube rips, and there's a channel with hub logo free rips on. It's either called JunkiesNewb or linked on that channel.
VastaKustutaMay have been said, but there's already tons of comments I can't be arsed to search through =P
@AbbySciuto The more downloads, the more apple will pay hasbro for future episodes...

VastaKustutaWhy are they treating fans like an enemy, then?
And as for your second bit... yeah I guess they won't miss me spending more money on their merchandiser, because I'm a freeloader.
@bky1701
VastaKustutaIt cuts into Hasbro's profits because they makde money on selling the DVD's of the show. Not to mention Apple selling the episodes through iTunes. That makes them money. It's not complicated.
@Zamoonda
VastaKustuta"I feel you, man."
So what now, do we "distance" ourselves from Pony Archive till they give an formal apology for their remarks?
VastaKustutaAlso will EqD look for a way for People in the UK and elsewhere to legally support the show?
@Zamoonda
VastaKustutaDonations? The complaint was that PonyArchive was offering 1080p downloads of something that was Hasbro's intellectual property, apparently enough so that it dug into possible iTunes sales.
Hasbro could have gone along with this with a serious lawsuit, but chose to call for just a C&D instead. Quite merciful, if you ask me.
Oh wow, so much anger. Remember ponies, anger turns to hate, and hate turns to the dark side (ie: 4chan).
VastaKustutaLet's put it this way, shall we?
Hasbro is a company much like any other. And much like any other company, they need funding to stay afloat. The Hub is, at this time, a small station that stays afloat by what little advertisement they get, the toys they sell, and what little additional funding they get from teh Discovery channel. In order to gain more funding, they have to sell the episodes on iTunes. It sucks, yes, especially since Apple takes a bit of the cut and their delivery service isn't al that great. But it's just another way that they fund the show we all love and pay the salary of the people who make it.
While you might not think it, My Little Pony likely takes a great deal of funding to produce, and to make as high quality as they have. The people making it and voicing it need to eat. By supporting download sites like Ponyarchive, we're effectively taking money /away/ from those people.
tl;dr. Quit your bitchin'. Support the show and throw a few bucks in the direction of the people who make it.
@Heartmend
VastaKustutaI hate this kind of argument. What good does that do if they're going to screw me over just because I don't come from the US?
This is Hasbro's right, and I hope Ponyarchive's hatefull response doesn't reflect too poorly on the rest of us.
VastaKustutaLooking forward to being able to legally aquire Pony in Norway, someday :>
@Zamoonda
VastaKustutaAnd if you can't be arsed to find legitimate ways to go about supporting a show you like, I can't be arsed to treat you like a functioning human being when you actually start bitching about the illegal ways you watch the show become more inconvenient.
Now, go run along and play with the rest of the special kids.
Wow Ponyarchive. Hasbro is simply protecting their IP. You pissing on their decision is insanely stupid. Did you hit your head when you got up and in the morning and forget Hasbro has a freakin' LEGAL TEAM?!
VastaKustutaPonyarchive, Hasbro could sue you into oblivion for your site. Be grateful they just told you to shutdown.
Sit down, shut up, take down your banner and be happy in the knowledge you aren't in court right now.
@Mr Mailbox
VastaKustutaNo they won't, it's stated clearly in their terms of service. Hasbro will always get a flat rate no matter how many people download them.

VastaKustutaI'm self entitled because I am annoyed that Hasbro is now doing the exact thing which made me ignore most other media? Way to be small-minded.
@AbbySciuto
VastaKustutaCitation needed. As far as I've been able to find, all currently available evidence points to the majority of the profits going to Hasbro, with Apple taking a lesser cut.
Strange thought just occured
VastaKustutaTheory: What if the angry letter from PonyArchives on Hasbro page wasn't actually fron PonyArchives, just a disgruntled devoted fan of the page, and when his favorite site is taken down. He does what any irrational Internet fan would do. Go on Facebook, replicate PonyArchives, anger Hasbro, deface bronies everywhere.
Besides if he can't have his ponies, then no one can
@ponyarchive "Trolling Hasbro"? you guys don't know anything about "Trolling". You're just a bunch of crying babies that are mad their pirating site got taken down, if you haven't noticed the freedom of the internet is at stake and you only fuel the fire when you act immature like that.
VastaKustutaI'm glad Hasbro took it down, now maybe more people will support the show
@Zamoonda
VastaKustuta"What Youtube streams? Hasbro are taking them all down."
You're joking, right? I just clicked on 3 different links to youtube pony episodes. All 3 worked fine. Trolls have been known to report them, but beyond that they stay in shape. Unless you have sources to "taking them all down" stop making inaccurate, egregious accusations.
For that matter, whether we like it or not if Hasbro WANTS to have them all pulled, they can. It's their show. That's their right. We have no right to claim copyrighted material as our own.
@James Corck
VastaKustutamy god you are annoying
SHUT U. AND DEAL WITH IT
It's possible I may be thinking of an earlier iTunes ToS.
VastaKustutaIgnore me.
@ponyarchive Trolling Hasbro is the worst possible thing we as a community can do. If the brony community ticks them off, how do you think they'll react when we ask them for things?

VastaKustutaThat's not PonyArchive's official account, just some random internet troll.

VastaKustutaNo, jackass. You're self-entitled because you expect Hasbro to provide you with free downloads to something they pay to produce.
@Xort
VastaKustutaSo much for leaving this thread. You, my good friend, don't know when to drop it.
I'm not going to petition them because what is the point? The chances are slim to absolutely nonexistant, there is absolutely no way for us to grab the attention of Hasbro, Apple, or whoever the hell. Why should I waste a thousand hours doing something so useless when I could get on the pirate bay?
If I decide I want to play a game, I torrent it. Then, if it's any good, I buy it. That's how I roll, and if I can't buy it (in this case, MLP), tough luck.
What do they care, they sell toys, right? More people viewing, more toys sold.
VastaKustuta
