Operation: Sharing Kindness

A Merry Christmas and a very happy Hearth's Warming to you all, everypony. As we continue to enjoy this time with our friends and family, I thought it would be nice if we could all take a moment to think about those outside our doors who could use a good hug and a helping hoof. That's why I'm here today to raise awareness about Operation: Sharing Kindness: a winter donation drive centered at Ponychan which was previously reported on in a Nightly Roundup.

The movement is run by a brony named Moony, who is currently taking pledges and paying a lot of money out of pocket to make sure it's a success. In addition to straight donations, arrangements have been made for custom plushie auctions, a Steam giveaway, and plenty of other stuff. OPERATION SHARING KINDNESS

Operation Sharing Kindness is donation drive that began on Ponychan, but is looking to expand outwards into the pony community. I've been planning Operation Sharing Kindness as far back as July, where it was originally planned to be a toy drive.  As the holiday season neared, it transformed into what it is today: a full on donation drive that is collecting pledges and preparing to collect funds to help those less fortunate than ourselves.  

Sharing kindness really can be an easy feat... I think it is clear that Operation Sharing Kindness is inspired by My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic!  But it is more than that... the entire Operation was inspired by the My Little Pony community.  Whether we prefer to be called bronies, pegasisters, ponies, or just pony fans, there is something special, something wonderful, about this community.  Why, when I first started watching My Little Pony back in February, I was astonished by the genuine and beautiful feelings and ideas the show put forth.  I was even more astonished to find it reciprocated within the community!  And even to this day, you ponies are an inspiration to me... 

Operation Sharing Kindness is really starting to get off the ground.  We're putting together a team and we are planning some really great events in the upcoming weeks!  This is more than a Christmas donation drive... It will be going until the end of January.  You know, there are so many people out there who might be less fortunate than us...  just a little money from you will go a long way, and I promise it will go to good cause.  I've put in over one thousand dollars out of pocket to see this drive succeed, and I just know that with everypony's help, we can share lots of kindness this winter season!  

How Can I Help?

If you want to donate then first, you have to pledge.  Pledging does not involve sending any money!  Just send an e-mail to Moony1205@gmail.com with your pledge amount and preferred charity! When the time comes to donate, we will send you an e-mail with the donation link.  

Donations will be collected, most likely, through WePay.com!  Your money will be going directly to charities that need those funds... I will even cover any tax or service fees out of my own pocket to make sure that this is the case! 

But I can't donate!  What else can I do?

There are lots of things you can do!  Our OSK Team Auction coordinator is preparing an auction for four custom made pony plushies right now, the funds of which will go to OSK! In addition, the pony who donates the most to the cause will receive a custom made plushie to order by Ponychan's Plushie specialist, Dawni!  

You can also help with our great Steam Game Giveaway!  I am collecting lots of Steam games to do advertising with.  Right now, anypony who donates more than five dollars to OSK will automatically be entered into a drawing for a free game!  You can choose to opt out to help us conserve generous gifts, but if you have any Steam games you don't need, you can help by donating them to OSK!  My STEAM name is Moonsight! Feel free to add me, trade your contribution, and defriend me!  If there are too many to manage, I may make a separate account just for OSK.  I've purchased roughly twelve games already, and we've had lots of generous donators bring our game pile up to almost thirty games!
