Yeah, Becoming Popular wasn't my favourite. The entire premise of that episode seemed to be "lying works out in the end", and that song was too pretentious for me. However, it did spawn booster Rarity, so something... Good came of it.
She gets away with it because it's her character flaw. That's like saying Rainbow Dash has too much opportunity to be a jerk and rarely gets called on it.
@ZeroG Yea, agreed, but I think there isn't as much to go.
Just like the Best Pet song, its a fun song to listen to, but they don't have poppy, catchy rhythms behind them.
I mean, I can recognize "Winter Wrap Up" or "Giggle at the Ghosties" in the first 2 notes of the song being played. With the season2 songs, I don't know, they just aren't as bore-into-your-head-forever catchy.
It's harder to remix them too, without the lyrics the songs are almost unrecognizable.
@wackypony I'll second the feeling that the remixes for "Becoming Popular" are a little bit underwhelming. I originally thought that the more straightforward song structure and 4/4 signature would make it easier for people to remix it into the usual dance/trance/house anthems...much more easily than "Choosing A Pet." But it seems my instinct was wrong on that, as "Choosing A Pet" has yielded some absolutely incredible remixes, many moreso than "Becoming Popular."
Still, I think Eurobeat did an all right job on this one. Definitely up to par with his strong standard. Not mind-blowing or anything, not really pushing the boundaries beyond the stuff he usually does (my main criticism is how "samey" it is to his other stuff). But still good for what it is, and good when it stands on its own.
Of course any music post with Odyssey in it gets the most comments and views. lol
#1 I'll he honest, this wasn't quite as good as I was expecting. And this particular remix seemed to strike me as too similar to many of Odyssey's other remixes. It didn't shake things up as much as I would have liked. Of course from anyone else I'd say it was great. Though obviously we set higher standards for some artists. :P It was still rather good. But I had higher hopes for it.
#2 Fun little remix. Good beat, decently placed vocals and all that fun stuff.
You're right, most of his stuff sounds the same, with the exception of his Discord song. I like that one since it's different from the others, more unique.
I think everyone attacking Rarity is forgetting that in the end of the episode she did, indeed, do the right thing, and choose her friends over the social elites.
#1 Sounds good, though I agree that it seems similar to the others (which is normal and not at all bad, though I admit that lyrics made the Luna/Discord songs stand out.)
#2 Was catchy though it was a more subtle catchy. (Once again, not a bad thing.)
While I agree that as far as lessons go in the last episode, it could have been a bit more apparent that Rarity shouldn't have been lying in the first place, however the fact that the lessons weren't what I look for in the show allowed me to enjoy it nonetheless. Also Fancypants.
At least from what I'm getting from the season 2 songs so far, they've been doing different types of music which is why in some ways, I think Rarity's song was meant to be like that. The Find a Pet song was styled more like a musical while this one matching Rarity's personality and the premise of the episode was done in a Pop-Like manner.
I really like this Eurobeat song, mostly because most of his other songs seem like they all have the same high fanfare instrument. This one still is fanfarish, but lower. Eurobeat is great, but he needs to use other instruments.
Damn, too much stuff being posted lately, I really have to find a way to stop working/studying.
I think this might be one of the lesser remixes from Eurobeat. I usually like his work, but this one... Meh, it just didn't catch.
For the second one, it had an interesting sound. I guess as a bassist, it got to me because of the solo at around 0:40 (I mean the real bass with strings, not the synth).
MOTHER OF GOD! Man, you made my life. I'm an Eurobeat lover since 7 years ago when I was dancing PPP in my local arcade. Now I'm a brony, and having this together... damn, this goes to mi MP3, iPod, PC and Cell phone

cool songs :)
ReplyDeleteMusic yay
ReplyDeleteOoh it's been a while since Eurobeat Brony did anything.
ReplyDeleteBetter check this out immediately.
Bah! Why's there been so much music in the last day?! I have 7 tabs of music open now!
ReplyDelete#3's interesting so far.
FluttershyElsa did Becomming Popular with Rarity singing.
ReplyDeleteAt least the Super Ponybeat of Becoming Popular is bearable.
ReplyDelete@wackypony
ReplyDeleteI'm confused. Is it that you don't like his other songs, or is it that the other Becoming Popular remixes are unbearable?
I'm sorry, but that was rather confusing.
Far from my favorite eurobeat song but it's still pretty good.
ReplyDelete@XTUX345
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like he isn't a fan of the original song itself.
@XTUX345
ReplyDeletei entirely despised the original Becoming Popular and some of the remixes I've heard are... meh.
My poor abused media player...
ReplyDelete@wackypony
ReplyDeleteWhat? It's a Daniel Ingram song that explicitly details why Rarity is best pony. What's not to like?
I love the original but I agree the remixes so far have been rather meh.
ReplyDeleteNone quite grasp the feeling of empowerment that I feel the original is emanating.
@Gozer the Equestrian
ReplyDeletei found the beat to be meh and the lyrics to be insufferably bad.
Yeah, Becoming Popular wasn't my favourite. The entire premise of that episode seemed to be "lying works out in the end", and that song was too pretentious for me. However, it did spawn booster Rarity, so something... Good came of it.
ReplyDelete@Gozer the Equestrian I disagree with your choice of best pony, but, yes, the original is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI really didn't like #1... it didn't have what I enjoyed from the original, the singing.
Hipster, not booster... Damn autocorrect.
ReplyDelete@Jelfes
ReplyDeletethat's why i liked this. It lacked the insufferable singing.
@wackypony And that's okay, all a matter of personal preference.
ReplyDelete@Tast
ReplyDeleteBut that's Rarity's thing! She's the most cunning and manipulative memeber of the gang, of course she gets away with lying and pretentiousness!
@Gozer the Equestrian
ReplyDeleteit's why i dislike her. She gets away with too much for no reasonable explanation. I just dislike lying and manipulative behavior.
All the vocal-less versions of Becoming Popular remind me so clearly that it's just a riff on "Art of the Dress."
ReplyDelete@wackypony
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the real world! Out of curiosity, what lyrics in particular didn't you like about the song?
She gets away with it because it's her character flaw. That's like saying Rainbow Dash has too much opportunity to be a jerk and rarely gets called on it.
ReplyDelete@ponydoraprancypants
ReplyDeletethe entire lyrical concept is what i didn't like. I liked none of the lyrics. I disliked all of them.
@wackypony
ReplyDeleteTo each his own, I suppose. I find Rarity's behavior highly entertaining.
if the Mane6 were perfect theyd be boring

Oh of course. As a Rarity episode, it was perfect, and I loved it all the same. I just frown upon lying c:
ReplyDeleteGonna have to agree with flaws are good. Flaws allow for character growth and conflict, which are crucial to good storytelling.
ReplyDelete#1 has the expected OdysseyEurobeat joyfulness, but i miss Rarity's beautiful voice...
ReplyDelete#2 is quite pleasant in a strange kind of way
Gonna have to agree with flaws are good. Flaws allow for character growth and conflict, which are crucial to good storytelling.
ReplyDeleteUgh, more music. I would be angry but most of it is amazing:D
ReplyDeleteNot as good as some of his older ones...
ReplyDeleteI love how everything Eurobeat comes out with sounds like it would fit perfectly in an episode of Initial D, which is my favorite anime. LOL.
ReplyDelete@ZeroG
ReplyDeleteYea, agreed, but I think there isn't as much to go.

@Jelfes
ReplyDeleteFluttershyElsa, look that channel up. They re-add the lyrics to the ponybeat versions.

@Chaos Knux
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, after the lyrics are added, the audio quality is insufferable.
EUROBEAT BRONY IS BACK... YEEEAAAAAH
ReplyDeleteOf course any music post with Odyssey in it gets the most comments and views. lol

#1's getting downloaded.
ReplyDelete#2 was just awesome. Really nice beat going there.
ReplyDeleteWhat about a Super Ponybeat of "Find a Pet"?
ReplyDelete@David
ReplyDeleteYou're right, most of his stuff sounds the same, with the exception of his Discord song. I like that one since it's different from the others, more unique.

ReplyDelete"My pony playlist is overflowing lately!"
ReplyDeleteYou have other playlists, Seth?

ReplyDeleteTry not to argue with wackypony, he/she is just very cynical, and with good reason if what he/she has said about their life is to be believed.
Damn, too much stuff being posted lately, I really have to find a way to stop working/studying.
