I can't say it enough: Cerulean Blue is my jam. Seriously. I just love everything about the song. It's delightfully mellow, bubbly and thoughtful. To summarize, the song is just fun. I was cracking a smile within the first twenty seconds, and I honestly can't get enough of it. It's a sort of poppy infectiousness that I haven't quite caught since... perhaps since Summer (the song).
I love Mic and JackleApp, but jeez. Replacer knocked it out of the park with this song.
#1 Still not a rap fan. lol But some of these pony raps... I like'em. This one I can include in that group. Pretty good tune from two good artists.
#2 Wow, pretty darn good all in all. I found the singing to be slightly lacking perhaps. But that might just be me. The lyrics are pretty good. Rather like this song.
#3 Dang, long one. Not bad. I got a little bored at some parts of it. But I sometimes get bored kinda easily. lol
I'm generally more of a...I suppose classical is the best way to put it, unless I want to go the Seatbelts route and call it "potato," but that might be a bit obscure, so...Anyway, pretty good stuff. Only real critique I might have is #3 seems to take a bit too long between transitions, though that might just be personal taste speaking. Solid otherwise though.
Going on a tangent, I've seen every one on the intro pic before...Admittedly, they were on a little dog at the time rather than a pastel pegasus, but it would be eerie how similar they were if it weren't so cute and nostalgic.
Not gonna lie. Was listening to #2 at first and thought it was just okay, but after looking over the lyrics and ACTUALLY listening to it instead of half paying attention during L4D2, I gotta say I'm impressed. IT has a very Elton John feel to it. Love the piano line, love the Lyrics, love the solos. Absolutely stunning, good sir. I hope to hear more from you.
It sounds like you tend to follow the same rhythm and place the rhymes on the same end beats in your raps- almost like you could switch the rap from two different songs and it would still fit. Not sure how much sense that makes.
But like I also said, I have not heard all of your stuff, so it's also possible that I've just fallen upon the similar ones. You're still quite talented regardless.
@Ditzy Doo Ah. I get what you're saying. Yeah. Sadly, such is a fault of mine. I tend to fall in to similar rhyme patterns and such, but there's also only so much you can do with rap and such. Even so, tis no excuse. I do need to shy away from the slower raps though and try and mix it up a little... Hopefully this flood of music I'm planning will remedy that. :P
Thank you for that though. I do actually like it when people analyze my stuff and give me actual feedback. Helps one grow, ya know^^?
i just realized why RD is my fav of the mane 6! we're the same, she and i. we know what we want and we have the raw talent to achieve it. but we are still slightly insecure about our talent, and also don't quite work as hard as needed to reach our goal.
Maybe not gonna make the overall playlist for me, but I really enjoyed #1 and 2. Nice job guys.
Thornair's remix was good, but he actually oversaturated the reverb on the synth. Good for trance builds, but it needs to be tighter for the verses and chorus hooks. Mix issues aside, it really doesn't need to be 8 minutes long.
#1 I was kind of disappointed when it ended, it just ended. I mean I liked rest of the song, but the ended disappointed me. It also reminded me of Eminem, for some reason…
#2 I had to listen to this song a few times to understand it, and yet I still don't get it… I like the music its self. Just don't get the lyrics.
#3 So many remixes… I like this song, so I am fine with it, hahaha. Keep them coming.
lol just kidding. My only gripe is that the flow in some of your raps gets a bit choppy sometimes. Don't think too deeply into it though, as I know it would take me quite a bit of effort to do half as well.
@Mic The Microphone Oh and Mic, about my comment you replied to on YouTube about being compressed and clipped, I figured it out. It's recorded at 128k. That's the reason it sounds off to me. I don't usually download anything under 192k, and even that's pushing it lol.
However, when it comes to good pony music, I can't discriminate... but keep that in mind in your future recordings. Personally, I think they would have a lot more depth of sound at a higher bitrate.
OTP had the feel of an Eminem / "rage rap" track, which I normally don't go for, but this one just...I dunno, works.
Cerulean feels like something straight out of the late 80's, like I'd be watching ponies on MTV in cheesy block-3D music videos. INSTANT APPROVAL.
As for Thorinair's work? *ponyshrug* Good original song, good remixing...what more can you want/need/say? A set of aces all around on this ponymusic post.
@Phantom240 Okay. Now THAT I CAN explain. I effed up my Adobe Audition recently and have had a bit of trouble reverting the levels I used to record at back to what I want them to be at. As such, most of my stuff sounds like shit right now. XD
And yeah. The whole choppy flow thing is my fault on this particular note. Wish I had recorded the second part of the second verse again~ Ah well. Such is life. Also, most of my stuff is purposely behind the beat ever so slightly.
@Mic The Microphone As far as behind the beat, that's not something I look for, as that has a lot to do with a vocalist's style and the tone he's trying to set, so I respect that.
Hopefully you can get everything in your software settled quickly so we can have more hi-fi pony raps.

ReplyDeleteLeave it to Cereal.....
ReplyDeleteI was listening to that Cerulian Blue song just three minutes ago
One Trick Pony is great. I wonder what the other songs might be about, though I wouldn't be able to tell from the description. Sorry Cereal.
ReplyDeleteYAY Mic and Jackle App!!! I can die happy now.
ReplyDeleteThat picture for number one
ReplyDeleteThat first one is amazing!
ReplyDeleteDamn, Mic tears it up!
ReplyDeleteCereal's descriptions are best descriptions.
ReplyDeleteMic and Jackle App at the same time! Yay!
ReplyDeleteEpic just saw the Mic and jackleapp on tumblr Love pony music!

Leave it to ponies to turn a minute and a half song into an eight minute remix.
ReplyDeleteI mean that in a good way, of course.
I love that picture. <3

Mic and Jackle make a great team!!! Great job you two!
ReplyDeleteThe second one is also amazing, the lyrics are very well done.
Third one has great instrumentals, just not enough of "pizzazz" if you know what i mean.
Jackle App + Mic The Microphone my head just exploded from the epicness of that song.

Love Seth's hijacking.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, Cerulean Blue was great.
Lol at the hijack. Gj Seth!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, nice Seth.
ReplyDeleteHAHA Edit!
ReplyDeleteNot related to this post, but am I the only one who just saw the nightly round up appear for a moment?
ReplyDelete@Select Few
ReplyDeleteI accidently published it. Still working on it !
@Sethisto Ah, that makes sense.
ReplyDeletethe second one /)^3^(\
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've heard, Mic's raps almost always follow the same rhythm, I wish he'd stray away from that.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the second one, and sadly was bored with the third one. He's not a bad mixer, it just dragged on to long with this.
What just happened to the nightly roundup? It was right there! I saw it!
ReplyDeleteyou scared the poor thing now seth's going to have to go get the net
ReplyDeleteSeth is best blogpony. I'm sorry, Cereal. Phoe. But in one fell swoop and one reference to an old meme, he has secured his position as thus.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Cerulean Blue is still amazing.
Replacer has easily the best implementation of vocals in a pony song I've ever heard. Good show.
ReplyDeleteOh Gawd that edit...i mean, interruption xD
ReplyDeleteAnd then the picture changed, rendering my earlier comment nonsensical...Oh well.
ReplyDeleteJackle and Mic are a phenomenal duo. Really hope the release more stuff together
ReplyDelete@Ditzy Doo
ReplyDeleteIf I may ask, watcha mean by that? o.o I'd like to know what I can do better~

@Mic The Microphone
ReplyDeleteYeah, I can understand that.
You bet. Keep up the good work, I'll be listening~
Dat edit to the post. lol
ReplyDeleteCerulean Blue will take the place of 20% Cooler as the most played song in my playlist.
ReplyDeleteReplacer raised the bar higher than I think most of us can vault. SLOW DOWN.
ReplyDeleteelectro pop, eh? not bad
ReplyDelete@Vinyl Scratch How are there two Vinyl Scratch'es?
ReplyDelete@Makkon
ReplyDeleteI'm 6'3. I'm going to try and vault it or break my legs and 3 of my ribs trying, god damnit.
"Kanye Sethst"
ReplyDeleteWhy am I laughing so hard?
Nice play, seth...
ReplyDeleteNice play
Wow, Cerulean Blue is awesome :D
ReplyDelete@Vinyl Scratch

ReplyDelete#2 really sounds like one of those songs from the 80's! AWW YEAH!
ReplyDeleteOmigosh, this reaction? To my little song? omigosh omigosh O_O
ReplyDeleteMaybe not gonna make the overall playlist for me, but I really enjoyed #1 and 2. Nice job guys.

ReplyDeleteWell in that case, here's a short list for ya...

That's just me though. lol.
#1 not one up for swears
ReplyDelete#2 Unique and interesting
#3 I absolutly love it! Cant wait to hear this in my truck.
Don't like cursing in my music, so didn't listen to first...
ReplyDelete2nd is ok.
3rd is fine.
OTP had the feel of an Eminem / "rage rap" track, which I normally don't go for, but this one just...I dunno, works.

#1 I am picky when it comes to rap, but I love instrumentals and this one fits perfectly.
ReplyDelete#2 Nice distortion inserts, blends really well. Nice flow overall.
#3 In my opinion, not Thornair's best work. Still good, but 8 minutes is kinda pushing it a bit.
@Phantom240
ReplyDeleteOkay. Now THAT I CAN explain. I effed up my Adobe Audition recently and have had a bit of trouble reverting the levels I used to record at back to what I want them to be at. As such, most of my stuff sounds like shit right now. XD

@Replacer
ReplyDeleteYour song is BRILLIANT! The reaction is merited. :D
I'm really liking Cerealean Blue... I mean, Cerulean Blue
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash's cutie mark is backwards in Cerulean Blue. I'm so proud I noticed xD
ReplyDeleteoh i forgot to mention: I LOVE THE SONG!!!! <3333
ReplyDelete1. You just keep moving, that is the key. If you stay in one place too long, you'll end up having a hard time moving again.
ReplyDelete2. You have my attention and love in spades!
3. Pretty smooth.
