Over a three month period, Saberspark compiled information from all over the brony community, even digging into the older generation stuff for a beginning history lesson. It encompasses pretty much every aspect of the our little fandom, from the crazy stuff we create, to the internet takeover that is currently going on.
The main point was for a school project on the study of "deviance". Are we deviant? He hopes to answer that! Hit up the videos below for the full presentation.
Ballad of the Brony (Introduction)
Ballad of the Brony (Act One)
Ballad of the Brony (Act Two)
Ballad of the Brony (Act Three)
Ballad of the Brony (Act Four)

ReplyDeleteOh wow, I can see this taking up a good portion of my time.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, Glad to see this made it, already saw it on my forums ,but heck
ReplyDeleteAwesome to see this on EQD :P
ReplyDeleteThis is gonna be good!
ReplyDeleteThis makes my week! Thank you for the post and a HUGE THANKS to the Brony community! You all make it worthwhile with your amazing music, art, and videos. I love this fandom and look forward to seeing it grow!
ReplyDeleteI can't watch Act 5 D:
ReplyDeleteIt's a private clip :/
Alright dude, now this is some proper recognition ^_^
ReplyDeleteact 2 is private D:
ReplyDeleteIf Bronies are deviant then I don't want to be norm.
ReplyDeletethe 'private' videos are on his channel with new links u_u
ReplyDelete@Dusty the Royal Janitor
ReplyDeleteWell, most of our fandom post on Deviant Art.
There is uploads of 2 and 5 which are not private, can you change the links to those please.
ReplyDeletePONIES ARE TAKING OVER THE WORLD!...I'm strangely okay with this.
ReplyDeleteFor those who are dealing with the private video problem, just click on the annotation at the beginning or end of Act One and Act Four! Sorry for the inconvenience!
ReplyDelete@SpanglePony Ha, we've been conquesting the world from day one, and every day we gain more territory!
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING this. I think I just might use this to give people intros to the series now...
ReplyDeleteawesomeness was had
ReplyDeleteWow. That was really well done and well thought out!
ReplyDeleteAct 2 and 5 are private.
ReplyDeleteYep....his words are made of 100% truth
ReplyDelete@KouThan
ReplyDeleteThey have links at the end of Act 1 and Act 4. Just use them instead.
I am crying tears of joy now.
ReplyDeleteThat was brilliant! Just... amazing...
ReplyDeleteYou know, I'll be honest. I only came here because of the glorious and inexplicable duo of Derpy and Guilmon. Because Digimon Tamers was boss.
ReplyDeleteOf course, now that I'm here...
This project have the potential to end up on the TV.
ReplyDeleteThat is without a doubt the best guide to FIM and it's fandom that I have seen.
ReplyDeleteThis was simply amazing.
ReplyDelete@Dusty the Royal Janitor
ReplyDeleteWe ARE deviant :) I think the point Saberspark was trying to make that being deviant is not wrong on it's own. The word 'deviant' always has this negative aura around it, as in deviant = abnormal/wrong.
I personally like the term 'eccentric' more :) that one seems to be less stigmatic.
Damn that was long, but awesome!
ReplyDeleteI felt like I just watched a documentary, even though I already knew over half the stuff.
I'm more amazed by Derpy riding Guilmon
ReplyDeleteDidn't plan on watching this at all, just started watching the introduction and then suddenly I'd watched the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteThat was amazing.
Best thing on the Internet ! :D
ReplyDeleteBlogger ate my comment.
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome! I'll have to remember to direct people to that when they ask about Bronies.
Derpy?! Guilmon?! Together!? My life is complete.
ReplyDeleteThese vids are awesome btw. really good take on the MLP Series.
The magnitude in this video documentary...it's.... it's AMAZING! Seriously. I am in complete awe of the sheer amount of work that was put into this. Everything that is need to know about ponies, bronies, and everything of the community in general is all right here.
ReplyDeleteBravo, just bravo. You win all of the internet.
Also, this deserves a special spot on front page for an entire month. Everypony in here needs to see this.
Really amazing work! Everypony must see it!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! Your hard work is appreciated, especially the sacrifice you took by watching G3.5!
ReplyDeleteXD
ReplyDeletepart 1 4:42 - 4:50
'season two takes place in detroit'; lol.
Hehe. This whole video was just great to watch. We all appreciate the efforts of the team behind the show immensely. But there is no doubt that the awesome community that has gathered around it is a large part of the fun as well :) And this video does a great job of showing that.
ReplyDeleteIncredible collaboration this series. I was taken away at the level of work and professionalism was put into this.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently burning these to Blu ray discs in 1080p and going to show it off to closed groups around our community.
*many tears*
ReplyDeleteWe're the best fandom ever
Great work, so much effort, and it really shows how awesome MLP is.
That was glorious. I reared up a little. :')
ReplyDelete*teared
ReplyDeleteAuto correct you fail me again. V_V
That was excellent! But it spent too much time describing each of the mane six and I felt the review of the G1-3.5 animation was rushed. At least now I kinda know what happened to the "princess" pony in the 1000 year old smelly Spike cartoon. Thanks for the documentary!
ReplyDeleteThis was simply amazing, very touching ;w;
ReplyDeleteGuilmon! :)
ReplyDeleteWith that now out of my system, I'll have to bookmark this and watch it later on.
About... 50 minutes long? But definitely worth it. If nothing else, go for Acts 1 and 3. :)
ReplyDeleteEpic. Absolutely epic. This IS the definitive work on Bronies to date.
ReplyDeletethis was awesome! everything to know about ponies, bronies + more =)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to use YouTube Downloader on all of those, put them together in one video and show that to my parents... Maybe then they won't get pissed of whenever I even mention ponies, it's going to take some work to get them to watch it though... but really, it'll be nothing compared to the immense amount of work Saberspark did to so perfectly explain the validity of my new favorite pass-time.
ReplyDeleteSo thank you Saberspark! From the bottom of my heart.
It's not easy to openly be a brony when your own family condemns you for it, and you and the supportive nature of the rest of the community may have saved me a lot of grief going forward.
well, i believe that we now have a new thing for derpy...riding magic dragon digimon. now that thats done, video time!
ReplyDeleteOh... my... gosh! That was AMAZING!
ReplyDelete"Awesome" Is an understatement.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to shake this guy's hand personally. (Or give a brohoof. Heck why not both?)
Watched the entire thing. Simply put, it was incredible and well done!
ReplyDeleteIt's good for people who don't know about Bronies, but Bronies won't learn anything from it. I already know everything in the presentation in more detail than he gave. I'll probably show that to some of my non-brony friends I'm trying to convert.
ReplyDeleteI don't mean to sound like a broken record, but could you update the links for Acts 2 and 5? *record scratches* I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but could you update the links for Acts 2 and 5? *record scratches* I don't mean to sound...
ReplyDeleteThis was awesome, and I needed the lift today.
ReplyDeleteI had just tried showing my friend the first two episodes. He was trying to understand why I liked it, and after the first episode refused to watch the second one, saying it was too girly. So I was feeling pretty down and hesitant to try showing it anyone else.
And then I watched the whole thing.
I stopped being sad. Now, I feel awesome. This fandom is awesome, and you sir, deserve every word of praise.
Brohoof. Brohoof indeed.
Really cool they mentioned BronyState. I wasn't expecting that. Also, Octavia. So glad everyone loves her so much and she's considered one of the background favorites by many. :)
ReplyDeleteI watched that entire thing. All the parts. Nice piece all together. I really enjoyed watching it and think he touched on just about everything. Very good job on this, sir.
Was amazing! Great job!
ReplyDeleteFantastic. I am speechless. You have done an amazing thing here.
ReplyDeleteThis was amazing and quite inspirational. The definitive work for the culture and quite a good explanation for others. Good job.
ReplyDeleteThat was the most amazing documentary(?) I have ever seen on this topic.
ReplyDeleteI mean...sure, it's the only one I've seen.
BUT STILL!
Simply amazing
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely captivating and extremely thorough. The amount of work put into these videos was phenomenal.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for creating this. I'm going to watch this all over again!
@Mithos
ReplyDeleteWhenever I show people MLP, I go for "Party of One" 'cause of its craziness. It works!
Wow... This guy sure was dedicated to his project.
Wow. Impressive. Just spent a good while watching the whole thing. Start to finish. Used up lots of time I should be using for other work. Worth it.
ReplyDeleteEntire project on my facebook page :D
ReplyDeleteJust watched it. AMAZING. I've acutally been searching for a documentary on Bronies to satiate my curiosity on the subject. This was perfect!
ReplyDeleteI say that on behalf of the Brony community this deserves a massive round of applause for your dedication and effort put into this masterful presentation. That this piece of work will be spread and used to show others about the fandom.
ReplyDeleteAwesome set of videos, and very professional. It reminded my why I became a Brony in the first place and why i continue to be one today. Tip of my hat to you sir.
ReplyDeleteWow. This is easily one of the best sources of information on bronies I have ever seen. I definitely learned a lot about us (especially about the past generations of MLP) and the montages of fan works almost brought me to tears with how great this community is. I think my parents would understand us more if they saw this. Now the hard part is actually getting them to watch it...
ReplyDeleteAnd much respect was givin this day!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for all the kind words everyone! I am just a reporter though, we all, as a community, make this fandom incredible. This one was for all Bronies out there!
ReplyDeleteThis was really good. Seriously, everypony should watch this.
ReplyDelete@Saberspark Amazing Work! Now someone do german subtitles, i need to show this around ;D
ReplyDeleteFUCK THIS GAY EARTH, I HATE ALL OF YOU.
ReplyDelete@B-dog I only have one question for you....do you like bananas?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely horrid.
ReplyDeleteHey, the Deviance project!
ReplyDeleteI remember this from High School!
Act three made up for the ungodly horror that was those last moments of act one. Ugh. I nearly hperventilated through that.
ReplyDeletethis was amazing, kind of makes me ashamed to be a closet brony though
ReplyDeleteDang, that was amazing! Very informative and I learned a lot by watching! And if it took three months, that is some dedication of epic proportions, excellent job!
ReplyDeletethat was friggin awesome! ive always been proud to be a brony and i dont care what most people think of us, i will always take pride in what i am. you sir, have my respect :)
ReplyDeleteI think this has to be one of the best fan productions out there. I also think it would be a great tool to open the eyes of the hatter!
ReplyDeleteWOW this little video series is amazing! SO much information its...wow. And the dude that made this did a fantastic job.
