For the fans of Epic Rap Battles of History (If you haven't heard of it, then you should probably go watch a few), this new series by Mic the Microphone and his rapper/artist buddies should be the best ponification ever. Have some copy paste:
I often times pondered to myself as to why Seth had such poor choice in Waifus. I thought, "Surely he can't be serious! Trixie? Twilight? That's absurd! No man in their right mind would EVER choose either of them as a suitable wife!" And yet as I pondered, I came to a realization most... Intriguing. Seth had never out-right declared for whom he held the most affection. And then it dawned on me. In order to make Seth suffer and realize the error of his ways, I would do something that would not only bring to light how poor a choice he had made, but also satiate my desire to watch these two lesser wives battle each other to near death.
I would pit his wives against one another in a battle most befitting of the two; A battle of wit! A battle of sheer cunning and lyrical precision! A battle unlike the world had ever seen before except on nicepeter's youtube channel because I am poor and unoriginal. I would pit them against each other in the only manner I knew how:
AN EPIC RAP BATTLE.
Watch as Seth is forced to helplessly witness his wives verbally abuse one another to the point of possible therapy. And to make things even better, once it's all done, YOU CHOOSE THE WINNER. That's right. Who deserves to be Alpha wife in Seth's house? YOU DECIDE. Click here to vote for your favorite! And don't forget to click here to pick the next match-up!
Yeah... He's attacking my ponies.
The voting ends in three days for the next one, so hit up the video after the break, then visit the polls below:

About time this got on here.
ReplyDeleteTwilight vs trixie? in rap? I can not tell you enough of how much I approve of this.
ReplyDeleteThe comment above is a lie
ReplyDeleteEpic rap battle yes
Damn I need more time to read this.
ReplyDeleteTwilight won. I mean come on! Trixie didn't even defeat the Ursa Major!
ReplyDeleteThis is so fucking genius, I swear. Thank you Mic 'n company. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say
ReplyDeleteF&@$ING EPIC, now time to vote, hmmm I wonder if Dash will be a choice
I called it; I knew this is what the countdown was about. And omg the wait was worth it. IT WAS AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteWho's next:
ReplyDeletePinkamena VS Insane Twi

CLOCK IS TICKING
So, is this by the guy that makes the EPIC RAP BATTLES OF HISTORY or someone else? And does he actually like ponies? I'm lost here...
ReplyDeleteI have heard this battle so many times in mic's stream, yet it's still amazing.
ReplyDeleteI can't belive how much it has evloved since that private showing to Seth nearly 2 months ago in the stream.
Nope no RD choice so I picked the good one
ReplyDeleteTrixieeee wins ofc !!
ReplyDeleteMeh. It's obviously trying to imitate Epic Rap Battles of History, but I don't think it pulled it off.
ReplyDeleteIt's a damn shame. The battle itself wasn't half bad. It was wrapped up with a mediocre parody.
So, is this by the guy that makes the EPIC RAP BATTLES OF HISTORY or someone else? And does he actually like ponies? I'm lost here...
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be so epic!!!
ReplyDelete^I agree with Detoxicity.
ReplyDelete@Peter
ReplyDeleteIf I may ask, what about it made it so mediocre? I'm always looking for ways to make these things better, so if you have any advice, I'd love to hear it! Thank you!
That... is pretty epic indeed. Twilight for the win!
ReplyDeleteI want to see Big Mac talking smack, come on! (Oh hey, I just rhymed there.)
@nathandash
ReplyDeleteDifferent guy, Mic the microphone made this. The original series are by NicePeter and his crew.
Twilight is best pony.
ReplyDeleteTwilight is best on the mic.
DON'T F*CK, WITH TWILIGHT.
Nightmare Moon vs Discord. Please?
THIS! is fucking awesome :D
ReplyDeleteWho's next:
ReplyDeletePinkamena VS Insane Twi

CLOCK IS TICKING
Seth, I'm starting to think Mic has too big of an influence over you :/
ReplyDeleteBecause Mic
ReplyDeleteThis is way to epic.
ReplyDeleteCan we have Pinkie Pie vs Gilda please! :D
ReplyDeleteTwilight won, totaly.
ReplyDeleteWhoever did Twi had a bit of a shoddy mic, I think.
ReplyDeleteEverything else was spot on. Well, it wasn't insanely awesome, but still pretty great.
Oh my Luna...so epic I was smiling the whole time.
ReplyDelete@Mic The Microphone
ReplyDeleteThe background music was a bit too loud (imo). At times it felt like the vocals had to compete with the beat.
Twilight won.
ReplyDeleteOh my god.
ReplyDeleteOriginal or not, this is the best thing ever.
Blueblood vs Big Mac? Now THAT would be interesting to see.
ReplyDeleteI really really really dislike the poll. >D I want Big Mac vs Blueblood AND Psycho Twi vs Pinkamena. Gosh dang it!
ReplyDeleteGave me a laugh, and I voted for Twi as the winner because it sounded like she kept her cool. Trixie... I dunno, a lil flustered. Tee hee.
Totally lost it and started ROFLCOPTERing as soon as Twi's verse started. I'd have to say Twi got this one; the one that can get me laughing and going "oh dayum!" the most wins in my book.
ReplyDeleteBig Mac would destroy Blueblood...
ReplyDeleteOh man that was awesome! I can't wait to see more, XD
ReplyDeleteThat was amazingly superific. Going to vote now.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Pinkamena vs Psychotwi is next... That's gonna be fun :D
ReplyDeleteAs much as I wanted Trixie to win, Twi just kicked some ass.
ReplyDeleteI can't vote becuase I am too biased
ReplyDeleteI voted for Trixie as winner. I prefer TS as a pony, but it was about who won the rap battle, and her lyrics were fresher, TS got served.
ReplyDeleteI want Spike vs Owl next. Mac/BB doesn't interest me, and we already heard TS this time around.
Tough call, but I'm going with Twilight for that one. As for who next, I can't possible decide. They're all perfect matches, and I hope Mic eventually does them all.
ReplyDeleteHow can i choice between Twilight and Trixi ???? its impossible!!!
ReplyDeleteBravo, Mic and Company, that was pure brilliance. I'd have to go with Trixie on this one (sorry Twi!); her flow was icy and the lyrical jabs were perfect, all boasting aside.
ReplyDeleteEither way, been looking forward to this for ages, and it was certainly worth the wait.
Don't usually like rap or care for anything like this, it actually wasn't bad.
ReplyDeleteSo...this is the first time I've ever seen one of these...rap battle things. I really dislike rap, so I wasn't sure what to expect.
ReplyDeleteHonestly that was about what I thought it would be...although I must say it was a bit better composed than I would have thought. I expected just outright insulting each other for two minutes; instead it was more like a crude, profane bout of poetry.
I don't think I'd watch another one, but at least it was an interesting experience.
Well Seth, who do you think won?
ReplyDeleteOwlowicious has to be next, just imagine his lines everypony.
ReplyDeleteWho, who who who?
Who who who, who who, who whoooo who.
Who who, who who who, who whooo who.
@Knick-Knack
ReplyDeleteAye. Was afraid of that. We were really having issues with the compression of the song since my Twilight's Microphone was shoddy as hell. Hopefully we'll be able to fix that a bit with the next battle, and given that it's looking to be Psycho Sparkle VS Pinkamena, we have a lot of room to experiment with and worth with. Thank you very much by the way for the input!
@DannyJ
ReplyDeleteOh I fully intend to! I'll take those who weren't picked and put them in the next poll! I got a good system planned out!
Oooh, Epic Rap Battles of History. I love those. I'm surprised this wasn't done a lot sooner. Guess the hard part is finding people who match the voices well enough and are decent rappers.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, hate to say it, especially since I like both of them. Two of my more favorite characters. But I was a little disappointed with both their performances. :( But if I had to make a choice on who won. I'm going to have to say...
Twilight is the winner of this round. She had a bit more force in her words and they flowed better than Trixie's. She also had more stronger pats than Trixie overall. So it's Twilight for me.
@Comrade Derpy Hooves
ReplyDeleteEveryone has been saying this type of comment for the past several weeks. Trust me when I say I have a plan for this. Don't worry. :D
Well that was EPIC!! Cant decide who won, both where excelent.
ReplyDeleteI also voted Psycho Sparkle VS Pinkamena Diane Pie for the next round.
ReplyDeleteOf course I'm worried because there will be an Octavia Vs somepony else down the line most likley. Probably Vinyl or such. But let me tell ya now, this mare can rap!
@Octavia ooh
ReplyDelete@Octavia
ReplyDeletePart of the issue I ran in to with this particular rap battle was the lack of tensity. The way I wrote this was intended to be very intense on both sides. However, even though I supervised their recordings, I couldn't really get them to mimic and capture the levels of intensity I had in mind for this. As such, I do have to agree, it turned out rather flat.
With that being said, I'm going to be pushing to make the upcoming battles much better. We're definitely learning from the mistakes made in this battle, and hopefully I'll actually be able to participate as one of the characters in the upcoming battle, or at least spend more time coaching the actors/ actresses so as to really get that level of power across.
Damn son I can't tell who won. I guess Twilight since I liked her first part better than Trixie's.
ReplyDeleteso how many of my bros here have voted on the best wiki of 2011? we are in the lead by 600+ votes LOL fans seem a bit POed at it:)
ReplyDeleteSaw this not long after it was posted (it helps being subed to Mic). Seriously this was fan-freaking-tastic. Similar in quality to the original Epic Rap Battles of History.
ReplyDelete@Mic the Microphone
ReplyDeleteHow well can you imitate a female voice?
There aren't meny male characters, but you have friends that can do female characteds, so that's good. I really hope to see you in one of these soon, though! :D
Learning from your mistakes in battle?
*enter bad pun about war here*
That was bucking epic! Can't wait for the next one.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad that Twilight is going to win based on Trixie's lack of popularity rather than on the merits of whether or not her rap was better.
ReplyDeleteI'm betting there were even a few people who didn't even watch the video and just voted.
... That WAS pretty epic. And I hate rap!
ReplyDeleteJust goes to show you that ponies make everything better.
@chinlamp
ReplyDeleteDon't count your Scootaloos before they hatch. Trixie's pretty popular.
@chinlamp
ReplyDeleteIt's just a sad fact, unfortunately. I set it up so that Twi's stabs were a bit more harsh, but Trixie had a better flow overall. Sadly, bias is just bias. People vote for their favorite. Why look in to who has more skill? It's a tough pill to swallow sometimes.
I clicked on the rap battle, wondering what in Equestria it was going to be. I wasn't expecting much--maybe some imitation Seth had chosen in his sleep-deprived state.
ReplyDeleteThe video started...
Let's just say my laptop screen has gotten a make-over...in iced tea and saliva.
That was pure genuis. The lyrics, the video, all of it was amazing. But I've got to vote between Trixie and Twilight?
I vote Twilight. She sounded so sure of herself.
God...I'm still laughing...I need a breather.
@chinlamp
ReplyDeleteI actually like Trixie more than Twilight. Just by a little. But I still voted Twilight because I think she had the stronger lines.
LEGIT!
ReplyDelete@Mic The Microphone
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think that's part of the reason. They both felt a little flat and just not enough in the spirit of it. But it's fine, this is the first round. Like you said, they will improve. :)
@Mic The Microphone Hey man if you're ever having trouble with those mixes, throw one my way and maybe we could try a mix A, mix B type thing.
ReplyDeleteAlways up for a new challenge!
This was great, yeah some room for improvement which it seems most already pointed everything out I noticed, and then some. Still, its the first one of hopefully many more so it's expected.
ReplyDeleteStill, I enjoyed it, and shared it with friends.
I had to vote for Twi, maybe she wasn't really into it as much as Trixie, but I liked her come backs a bit more.
I loved it, every second of it. can't see the point in fussing over minor shit like microphone quality etc etc, in fact having it sounding a bit rough adds to the experience IMO. As much as I dig Trixie I'm definitely putting hooves up for Twilight, shes such a boss
ReplyDeleteFrom an honestly objective standpoint, Twilight's was better NOT because she is better pony, but because her rapping flowed better, she did not have to change word order like Trixie did in one or two places to make it scan, and her lyrics carried stronger pwnage and the better argument.
ReplyDeleteTrixie, grab a napkin, cuz you just got served!
Mic the Microphone is AMAZING, I can't believe this hasn't been done before. Have to say that Twilight won out on this, though. Her catch phrases won me over in the end.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHHAHAHA YES!! MORE MORE MORE! SO AWESOME! /)^3^(\
ReplyDeleteAdding comments has been disabled for this video. :O
ReplyDeletePonify ALL the things! This was nice, but I'll stick to the original series. For now. I'd like to see a Mic Vs. Lulz (either as characters or out) some time though.
ReplyDeleteDear god I love this fandom. can't freakin wait 'til the next one
ReplyDeleteI gotta go with Trixie. She killed it.
ReplyDeleteNot gonna go that was boss, Twilight FTW! Looking forward to the ultimate psycho rap battle
ReplyDeleteIf I go by flow/style I'd say Trixie. If I go by attack/counter-attack I say Twilight. (I'm so confused, Gaah!) The balance of the vocals and music seemed off but I understand there might have been some microphone problems. I'm sure that didn't help in the mastering. Overall, not bad and I'm confident it'll only get better. :D
ReplyDeleteTrixie totally had this in the bag from the start.
ReplyDeleteI gotta say, I voted Trixie. Twilight's lines were a bit stingier, but Trixie's delivery and flow just killed it for me in the end. Kudos to the person voicing her (although the Twilight was great, but lost a few points given that some of her lines were a bit hard to understand without the subtitles).
ReplyDeleteTwilight...wins duh..
ReplyDelete@blitzthedragon
ReplyDeleteOn the reverse side of that coin, Twilight's flow was stale, predictable and over-used. Trixie's flow deviated and kept you entertained. It's more fresh and keeps you engaged.~
Big Macintosh vs. Prince Blueblood?
ReplyDeleteWhat is this I don't even-
That doesn't-
HUH?
Twi won. By at least a hoof. I watched it 5 times trying to decide.
ReplyDeleteTwi's lyrics cut deep and her lyrics were smooth. And by starting each verse as a letter to the Princess she already put herself halfway to the level of Trixie's rhymes. She wasn't able to "carry herself" like Trixie was though since her boasting usually fell short except for a few good ones.
Trixie's jabs were weaker, and it felt like her lines weren't as refined or thought out or were a little rough around the edges (by design I'm sure). She got a few good ones in though. However, Trixie's boasting was, indeed, Great an Powerful. The way she held herself up was pretty good. Good enough to make someone overlook the roughness of her rhymes. Thats what made me have to watch it 5 times to decide.
The first time I went in expecting it to be like Epic Rap Battles of History (which I have been watching for a few months over and over and over again). I shouldn't have been trying to compare it to ERBoH. Its not done by the same person after all, which I thought it was at first. But this was pretty amazing in its own right. :)
I did not mind the mic quality from Twi. As somepony else said it actually added to the quality of it. Its more the quality difference between the two. I personally preferred Twilight's sound to Trixie's.
Can't wait for the next one! Definitely looking forward to Blueblood vs Big Macintosh.
Impresive, I thought Trixie won, I just found her more fast paced tone won out, Also HOW DARE THEY MOCK SCOOTALOO, she is not a chicken.
ReplyDeleteTrixie definitely won, sorry Twi.
ReplyDeleteWhile I'd love to see all three of the next options, what I'd REALLY love to see is Discord VS Celestia. That would be so boss :D
@Mic the Microphone
ReplyDeletewe bronies are getting a pavlovian response to your name. Certainly delivered with this and then some. Yay you and everyone who backed you up in making this. Merrily awaiting the next one.
Voted Trixie - everything considered, I think she had the stronger show going on here. She is the show pony after all. Not that Twi was a pushover, so it was a very rough call to be made only after rewatching two or three times.
Looking like crazies set to win for the second, voted for BM and BB for the sake of it. Am curious as a colt about how they imagine to do Owlicious.
-yay-
MADE.
ReplyDeleteMY.
WEEK.
That was fantastic!
i remember when these two duked it out in a parody of gandalf vs dumbledore a while back. oh memories. this was very awesome btw
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, I think Trixie got pwned....
ReplyDeleteTrixie only had a solid showing during the second verse. Otherwise, her game was weak. Twilight was reminiscent of Dre.
ReplyDeleteBig Mac Vs Dr. Whooves.
ReplyDeleteBig Mac VS Blueblood
Discord Vs Nightmare Moon.
I need...MOAR!
ReplyDeleteFlutterwry vs Fluttershy
ReplyDeleteOh, if only all you ponies were in Mic's livestream when this went live, you'd probably vote for Spike vs. Owlowiscious in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteThat one will be EPICLY hilarious just based on the opening premise Mic described...
Reminds me of the Bieber/Beethoven battle; Trixie/Bieber being all talk with no skill to back it up, and Twilight/Beethoven being the real deal.
ReplyDeleteAwesomely done :D
ReplyDeleteThis is a well made video.
ReplyDeleteThe voices matched the characters and the script fitted the characters pretty well.
The beat is a pretty good one and fits the lyrics pretty well. I do not mind that the music is slightly more loud than the voices. If most people find it something to fix, then I recommend making either the music softer and keep the voice volume relatively the same as it is in this video, or the voices louder and keeping the beat volume relatively the same as it was in this video.
The editing is pretty well made. The footage from the show seems to be in good quality. Before I rant on something, I am going to say that probably my complaint is minor. When transitioning to another character, I recommend not using the background that was made for the intro. The reason why is because it is pretty annoying to have that background pop up every time a particular beat plays. Other than that, if the visuals are supposed to be like a PMV, than most of the visuals work.
Overall, a well made video and I recommend watching it.
Trixie won... She insulted Scoots.
ReplyDeleteDiscord vs. Pinkie Pie should be next.
ReplyDeleteCutie Mark: six-point star with a boom mic.
ReplyDeleteTwilight 'til I die.
Twilight, no contest. Actually can do magic, unlike Trixie
ReplyDelete@Stormcloud
ReplyDeleteWell... that's kind of up for interpretation, since they mention unicorns who's talents are magic in that episode, one might believe that this is Trixie's talent as well, in which case she has just as much potential as Twi, just less skill.
Or maybe her talent is just showboating... The debate rages on!
It's awesome because I was in the Livestream when they were making this <3
ReplyDeleteKinda fell flat for me to be quite honest.
ReplyDeleteThe put downs weren't as sharp as I would've wanted, really nothing that made me go "oh snap!" Which was a shame since stuff like Twilight's "Dear Princess Celestia..." openings were genius, if only the follow ups were as strong.
Based on that video I would say that Trixie won as she had better flow, and made the better use of her material, which is kind of a shame since Twilight has much better material to pull from for bragging and boasting (saved the world, saved Trixie's ass, call out Trixie on Ursa Major thing, call her out on basically being a travelling carnie, etc).
On the other hand, the production of the whole things is relatively well done, and I think there's potential here.
twilight kicks ass again
ReplyDelete@Mic The Microphone
ReplyDeleteIf I can offer a dissenting pov, I thought Twilight's presentation was actually better served by her understated demeanor. While having an insane Twi going all out in the recording booth may be funny, hearing her serve up those barbs with such studious calm made them all the more disarming.
Personally, I'd sacrifice a bit of intensity if it means preserving such an awesome style so in keeping with the character.
So much for the PSYCHO BATTLE being next. Blueblood vs Big Mac just freaking shot up like mad in the past few hours.
ReplyDeleteThis rap battle definitely lived up to the EPIC label. Great job!
ReplyDeleteTrixie WHOOPED DAT PLOT.
ReplyDeleteI would vote but I'm biased. Ya see, Lauren Goodnight is one of my homegirls on The Vinyl Scratch Tapes and so I'd pick Trixie by default. Btw, excellent job, Mic, especially for a first go at the series. Lauren mentioned she was doing this a while back I had forgotten. Lo and behold, when I played the video and heard her voice, I grinned from ear to ear.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this. The right amount of vulgarity, they right amount of adorable, and the right amount of pony.
ReplyDeletePARINCE BLUEBLOOOOOD
ReplyDeleteVS...
BIIIIG... MACKINTOOOOOOSH!!!!
All of my yes! All of it! And Twilight wins
ReplyDeleteOwlowiscious vs. Opalescence
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised so many think Twilight's part fell flat. I actually know the girl who played Twilight and got to sit in the sound booth with her when she was recording. Half of it was probably that she was working with a really crappy headset back then and had to tone it down to avoid the pops, which meant she couldn't shout. But I think the other thing is that Twi is interpreted as somepony who has a smart, understated way of dealing with things, except for in Lesson Zero. I think she added more to the character by playing it off like Trixie's boasts didn't mean anything. Like she was just that awesome.
ReplyDeleteLuna vs Trollestia ?
ReplyDelete"Trix are for kids, you f@*king failure!"
ReplyDeleteAt that moment, Twilight won hooves down. :D
@b29feb1c-32a4-11e1-8cce-000bcdcb8a73
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! Twilight wouldn't be really brash and overt.
Kudos to all involved! It was really super! The voice actresses were amazing!
I would like to see Prince Blueblood versus Big Macintosh next. That would be absolutely hilarious! :D
I thought Trixie rapped better, but I actually flinched on some of Twilight's comebacks. Twilight ALLLL THE WAY!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was talking about!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFrom my observation,
ReplyDeleteTrixie:
Trixie had much better flow and style, but her insults were average. Also, the fact that she said "fuck" so many times to fill in for words was a big turn off.
Twilight:
Twilight had much stronger insults. In fact, she had a much better combination of offensive and defensive verses than Trixie did. The only problem was that Twilight's flow was too uniform...too plain; which is NOT BAD, but the lack of style makes Trixie's rap stick out just a bit more.
In terms of style, Trixie won. In terms of insults, Twilight won.
If I had to compare Twilight and Trixie to rappers from nicepeter's Epic Rap Battles, I'd have to say:
ReplyDeleteTwilight = Mr. Rogers. (From T-pain vs. Mr. Rogers) Reason: calm, collected, and still able to disarm and counter attack; not to mention the use of her catchphrase to introduce her first point
Trixie = Justin Bieber. (From Justin Bieber vs. Ludwig van Beethoven) Reason: tries too hard, uses up all of her good points in the first attack, voice flows better than the actual Trixie
epic win.
ReplyDelete@Captian64
ReplyDeletethe PMV was made by a 13 year old xD
@rdoung1
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy people are picking up on how I designed this rap~
Watched it again today. Still awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's almost in-character, but the ponyswearing shatters my immersion faster than Rarity did her glass slipper when Pinkie pointed it out in the Best Night Ever.
ReplyDeleteAnd thus I can't enjoy it at all.
DASH VS APPLEJACK nuff said... btw loved this Twilight won hands down
ReplyDeleteHoly shit that was fucking amazing!
ReplyDelete"Spike, take a letter, 'cuz the b*tch doesn't know."
ReplyDeleteThat's as far as I can get without busting out laughing. Oh, Twilight...
I LOVE rap... and rapping... and especially pony rapping. And I love Mic. I'm definitely gonna give this a listen... just hope it's cleaner than Darth Vader in ERBoH...
ReplyDelete
