That's not Mic's drawing, rather a friend of his by the name of Braeburned lol. Pretty sure Mic moved for that to get posted though. It is an amazing picture and honestly, I think we could all use some saucy colt every once and a while. Saucy mares are good and all but we get that ALL THE TIME.

Well... for some of us anyway. >.>; lol They really suck. She might be stuck-up and really self-centered, but she's still got feelings. I just wanna give her the biggest hug.

ReplyDeleteHey, there's a Nightmare Night fanfic where she likes it... Being the center of attention, everypony obsessing over you... Sound like Trixie to me. I do feel bad for reluctant Trixie in #6. I didn't look at the sources, but I wouldn't be surprised if 4 and 6 were the same source... Eeyup. confirmed.
I really hope that they offer Trixie another episode, where they actually TEACH her a lesson in friendship, rather than just let her be run out of town. It'd be much more touching if Trixie could learn to make friends, reign in her ego, and learn to learn from the power of friendship. I bet Twilight would LOVE the chance to become a mentor to Trixie in the same vein as Celestia mentored her. It'd be fitting, and would make a beautiful friendship report I think.
Also... If you wanna hide #6 behind a saucy link, you can, or not. Don't bug me one way or another. The show is full of plot, and also great in depth story telling too. XD

ReplyDeleteFair enough, saucy is technically the wrong word. However, #6 essentially reads as porn, with the back line and buttocks that make you think "naked human" and look nothing like the ponies we see on the show. Given the context, there's simply no way to interpret it non-sexually.
#39 looks only slightly suggestive. I wouldn't have batted an eye if it hadn't been behind a link.
Lots of suirobo works this time, and I ain't complaining.

ReplyDeleteWell, I felt, especially after the last Drawfriends with that huge argument, that saucy tags should be implemented more often, to be extra careful, that sort of thing.
The context of number six is one I believe merits a tag, if only to try to avoid another big huge argument.
But yes, I definitely agree with you that Trixie deserves another episode at some point to become a friend to the Mane Six, or at least not as much of a self-absorbed fool. My feelings about the poor taste of this picture have to do with the fact that I don't think anyone deserves to have to work a job where they feel humiliated. Note my emphasis is on their feelings, not the job itself--I'm well aware there are plenty of strippers that enjoy their work, and more power to them. Trixie here, on the other hand, obviously does not, which makes it in poor taste in my mind, though number four does at least partially make up for it by making it a sad piece, rather than a piece of "comedy" at Trixie's expense.
So...yeah.

ReplyDeleteI agree. #6 can easily be seen as falling into NSFW territory. Trixie's pose is near-human here, and the artist obviously shaded it in a manner that would draw attention to her rear. The context is unmistakably sexualized, even though it is meant to be humorous.
I'm fine with the picture, personally, but this is the type of thing I would prefer people NOT see first when they are checking out what this "Brony" phenomenon is all about.

ReplyDeleteAnd since I missed out on commenting on Yesterday's banner chance, let me say that I love it today! The Christmas chaos that Lyra, Bonbon and Derpy face is highly entertaining and very festive, strewn with all sorts of clever details!
And usually a new banner goes up while I'm responding to the Drawfriend. We'll ahve to see if that streak continues.
1) Such a lovely image to start with! The ponies are so well shaded and very endearing. A great holiday scene!
2) Rarity is stylish as always. Nicely rendered.
3) Oh, cool.... I really liked that scene of the cast out stargazing. It's great to see it reproduced. Sweetie Belle is especially adorable.
4) Is this a thing now... that Trixie has been stripping? A funny image either way.
5) Well, that's certainly an innovative style Rarity's picked for her new line. An interesting and well done image.
6) Is it even called stripping if they don't wear any clothes to begin with? Perhaps this is how Seigfried and Roy got their start in Vegas?
7) You know Pinkie is just a scene break away from whipping one of these out in any episode.

11, 13, 14, 26, 30, 31, 32) Lots by this artist in this Drawfriend, and rightfully so... These are all great. Such a friendly style well suited to ponies, and with rich coloring and texture and/or expressive black and white work. Great expressions all around... great stuff!

16) She is shiny. And a great pastel coloring job to boot.

ReplyDeleteI must thank you, because I had no idea number twenty-one was referencing Beauty and the Beast. I was trying to figure out what the context of it was, and about all I could think of was that Twilight was trying to prove something to Rainbow and Rainbow called horseapples, so Twilight showed her the book, and Rainbow is suitably shocked.
Your interpretation is much better however. Makes me wonder who the Beast is in the story...Pinkie Pie?
