#1 is absolutely beautiful; one of the best pony fan artworks I've seen yet. The muted nighttime colors are stunning, really bringing out the few bright spots in the drawing; the composition is well done, emphasizing Fluttershy without putting her in the center of the drawing, and the amount of detail is breathtaking. Favorite of the night and most likely of the week.
ReplyDelete#2: While I was disappointed we didn't get to see Spike in "Sweet and Elite", I really don't think Twilight would have abandoned him like this. Excellent drawing regardless.
#3: I always like seeing Applejack with her mane free.
#5: Love how Fluttershy is hiding.
#6: Pinkie Pie's eyelashes look a little long here, but I adore the Victorian feel of this drawing. "Penny for the poor, guv'ner? If you haven't a penny, a ha'penny will do."
#9: Very nice drawing of the Wonderbolts flying about; I'm impressed with the lighting here.
#11: The artist did a great job of making the CMC extra-cute in this drawing.
#13: Really cute portrait of ponies sleeping; I can see Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy doing this in a non-shipping context, even, just because that's the type of ponies they are.
#14: What I find amusing about this drawing is how nonchalant Dr. Whooves is about posing with a giant muffin.
#16: Wonderfully cute, expressive drawing of giggling at the ghosties.
#20: Another One Piece crossover? Terrific shading; I didn't think it was possible for Pinkie to look threatening except for when she's drawn psychotic. :P

#1 Another one of these really lovely scenic pieces, I like. This whole set from this artist is so beautiful. So many things about this one I adore. The deep rich sky with the shooting stars. What I think are mountains and low-hanging clouds. The creek and bridge. All very lovely.

I can get behind Pinkity as the ship name, but I just flash back to that look Rarity gave Pinkie after she was shot with confetti from the party cannon. Call me crazy, but I just don't see those two making it work. Apparently it's a pairing with fans though, so what do I know?

ReplyDeleteYeah, the artist acknowledged there was controversy about Kwanzaa, but wanted to do something for those who do observe it. He's also considering an ornament for the Epiphany; I think I'll suggest Zecora as one of the Magi for that ornament. :)

I promised myself I'd stop responding to people who say there's too much sauce/shipping without listing what they consider the offending pics to be, but...
saucy: I didn't see any, but let's include the four hidden by links here.

not saucy, but maybe shipping: #12, #13, #15
By my count, that's 7 out of 36 pics that could possibly be considered saucy, or 10 out of 36 if you want to lump all the shipping or maybe-kinda-shipping pics in with the saucy; and don't forget that 4 of those saucy pics were hidden behind links. That's nowhere near "half" of the drawfriend.
I don't care for saucy pics myself, and I generally don't mind people complaining about sauciness, but I think we're all better off if those complaints are kept realistic and are tempered with praise for the drawings that are good.
