I'm not sure where the concept of Derpy befriending the Doctor came from, but It's entertaining regardless! For those following this series, the 4th episode can be found after the break.
I'm willing to bet it's actually from the DW fans seeing commonalities between Whooves and David Tennant, and then matching either Rose (the blond ditz) or Donna (the entertaining if slightly dim) as his primary companion. Derpy's dual interpretation matches either character, and thus fits quite well in my opinion.
@Doc Whooves That has nothing to do with it. Derpy is an analogue of Rose Tyler, the 10th Doctor's primary companion. As Dr. Whooves is based on David Tennant's 10th Doctor, this made the most sense. Plus it's friggin' adorable.
I'm new you see, I've been a lurker for some time. When I signed in with my Google account, it displayed my email as my username. When I changed it, it deleted my comment for whatever reason. Then I noticed I put the wrong Twitter Account. I'll be better I promise!
I dunno, I'm kinda torn on these. They're nice, but they seem off in places too or just... eh.
I'd agree I'm sure Derpy and Dr Whoof got paired together because Dr Whoof reminds people of David Tennant and Derpy reminds people of Rose Tyler. At least she did me.
this episode was awesome. i cant wit for the next one. iv never watched doctor who, but these stories have peeked my interest in the show. does anypony here recommend it? is that show good at all?
@ciepher fox It is good. It's a very long running British science fiction show. It's essentially like what happened in this episode, but without the ponies (the catalyst, problem that gets solved, various a lot). Doctor Whooves is based off the tenth doctor so I'd suggest starting there (he's the most popular too I think). The first episode he's in is The Parting of Ways (which is part two of another episode). But you could start on the one after that, "The Christmas Invasion" just as well. I think it'd be a better introduction.
I'm really liking the way they're following the show's storyline but from their point of view. I can't wait for them to catch up and explain why Derpy was in the chicken coop!
@ciepher fox YES. Some folks will say that the older stuff is brill, and that's fine, but I'm one of the ones that started with Eccleston and Tennant and I love it. So long as you're up for some manic pacing and silly special effects, you'll probably have a blast.
'I'm the Doctor and the doctor is in!' So much love for that sentence! I love anything and everything Doctor Who related. Ponies just make it that much better.
I like Twilight better as the Doctor's companion because she's more likely to get exasperated by his erratic behavior and not-quite explanations. I guess she could be the Martha Jones analogue. However having so much magic makes problems kinda too easy to solve. So in conclusion: great episode and Ditzy is cool.
I'm pretty sure Derpy and the Doctor got together when everyone realized Derpy had to be a time traveler, if her daughter was as old as she was. I think the coupling is pretty awesome though! XD
I'm sorry, if this isn't justification for the "Muffins" explanation meme, nothing is. If Muffins are a reasonable explanation for time travel, then they are an acceptable explanation for ANYTHING.

Ditzy and the Doctor is along the lines of Vinyl and her red eyes.
ReplyDeleteNo one can remember where it started, but it just caught on.

ReplyDeleteAdorable episode!
ReplyDeleteHopefully it reaches its own animated web series.
Only piece of critisism: "Fancy that!" is not as cool as "Allons-y."
ReplyDeleteYou should do an Equestria Daily post with all parts of dr Whooves so far, that updates when there is a new part, like You have for written stories.

ReplyDeleteHaven't see the whole thing yet, but to sum up what I've seen so far:
ReplyDeleteExcellent voice work (is that BaldDumboRat's excellent Ditzy voice I hear?), and the re-versing of Winter Wrap-Up was just phenomenal!
"It's time to do Winter Wrap-Up....Time Lord style!"

ReplyDeleteher voice is absolutely adorable, i'm gonna have to watch the first three episodes first too.
ReplyDeleteI like Twilight better as the Doctor's companion because she's more likely to get exasperated by his erratic behavior and not-quite explanations.

ReplyDeleteOn a related note, Ditzy is the best Dr. Who girl EVER.
