I'll be honest, the only thing I know about both comics is the pony aspect. I'm not familiar with Death Note or Guys Doing Manly Things. But I still managed to find both of these hilarious. More so with the first one. Fluttershy with juice is ALWAYS a win!
I wish I could point the Orbital Friendship Cannon at all the firster's... one can dream.
#1 I was lost on this reference at first until I read some of the comments. Oh! The chip scene! lol I've not really watched Death Note. >.>; But anything with Fluttershy and her juice box I can get behind. <3
#2 Dat Big Mac. lol I'm not real familiar with this webcomic aside from simply knowing of it, but this was still funny.
I was just listening to some of the songs from Death Note and then I come here and see this, how awesome is that? It is really tempting me to watch it again.
That's the site of the comic being referenced in the second one and I wholeheartedly recommend it. If you're a fan of video games, 80s cartoons, TV shows, and/or movies (in any combinations of said), odds are it's right up your alley. What's even better is I could picture the Commander being a brony without much of a stretch. :p
I've had Thepunchlineismachismo in my RSS feed list since forever, or at least sometime soon after the author introduced the Pokemon trainer kid and his gyarados companion "Mr Fish", who he leveled up by budgeoning the other pokemon with it. X^D It's a placement office for out-of work video game protagonists so there are loads of game references and site gags that go right over my head, but the comments below the comics clue me in. It's a very good comic, a must read.
I remember when Manly Guys started. Was in a comic competition over on The Escapist and when it lost the forum thread erupted into dozens and dozens of "WHY DIDN'T MANLY GUYS WIN?" posts. I think part of the reason the author continued it was because of the highly positive response from the public on that one.
MLP doesn't seem too weird a crossover - this is the comic with an idiot savant Pokemon trainer for a character. (The power armor for Mr. Fish had me laughing for far too long.)
Why is Commander Badass so awesome? He goes on a date with a girl. While on the date he gets attacked by his time-travelling future self. When he loses the brutal fistfight, he travels backwards to start the fight and win it. Then he and his date debate whether Rio from "Jem" is cheating by going after his girlfriend's alter ego.
(The series' depiction of Duke Nukem is great, too. Much more likable guy.)
#1 Tehehehe. What's with all the Death Note crossovers lately? For those who haven't seen Death Note, it's a psychological thriller but the scene being mimicked here is just so over the top it's great :D #2 I think the final punchline went over my head but amusing nonetheless!
#1: Am I the only person here who's never seen Death Note?
#2: Clicked on the link, saw "Gavalanche" in the URL, closed the tab. :/ Was that the right choice, or did he actually avoid doing any pedophilic shipping or otherwise creepy stuff for this comic?
What's the deal with Fluttershy and juiceboxes? I've been out of the loop since Friday when I came down with the flu... and suddenly FLUTTERSHY WITH JUICE! lol.
Amusingly Coelasquid (the creator of manly guys) is an animator on flash based TV shows. Having met her I wouldn't be surprised at all if she made a my little pony reference, especially if she got a bunch of bronies as fans.

@Octavia
ReplyDeleteI can hack a Russian military satalite, would that work or just lots and lots of Napalm?
Yay Gavalanche!
ReplyDelete#1, The joke kind of misses the original shiny saliva that made the joke funny in the first place. Fluttershy is as cute as ever though.
ReplyDelete#2, I'm not familiar with this. It was kind of funny but the last panel was an automatic, "Oh my gosh what the b*BOOM*!"
It's funny that Deathnote Fluttershy should show up tonight, because one of my friends just explained that meme to me today.
ReplyDeleteAnd the second one? Funniest thing I've seen all month. And that's saying something.
I lol'd so hard. At all of it.
Commander Badass... I'll remember that.
ReplyDelete@Travis Smith
ReplyDeleteI'd say both. Just to be on the safe side.
@Octavia
ReplyDeleteI just wanted "First" once.
Now I am complete.
@Everypony
ReplyDeleteEverybody get one
Fluttershy: Killer of juice pouches. Who would ever suspect an innocent little mare like her to be the culprit behind the recent Pouch killings?
ReplyDeleteyes, finally a manly guys/ pony crossover. didnt think it could be done
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteI started reading Guys Doing Manly Things a couple of days back to better understand #2. That webcomic is incredibly funny, I recommend it.
Inb4 the webcomic creator is shocked at gaining a horde of new followers in less than a day
1 was going to happen. I knew it, although I expected it to be with apples.
ReplyDeleteI was just listening to some of the songs from Death Note and then I come here and see this, how awesome is that? It is really tempting me to watch it again.

I didn't get the first one because I never heard of deathnote.. But fluttershy with a juice pouch works anyday for me. :D
ReplyDeleteI really liked the second one though it's hilaroiu, my little monkey... Nicely done, I especially like big mac's expression.
Man, I hate Deathnote... *Wendigo groans* ...well, I mean, I just really really really really dislike it.

ReplyDeleteWell, he does have a young daughter, so if it did turn out that he watched the show, he'd have a free pass
Fluttershy is adorable no matter what she does.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, the last thing I EVER expected to see on this site is a crossover with MGDMT! My favorite webcomic ever, bar none.

ReplyDelete#1 wait no! d'awwwwww. Far too cute.
ReplyDelete#2 That last panel, oh hehe.
#2 cracked me up. As for #1, this was my first thought:
ReplyDelete"Spike, take a letter.
Dear Princess Celestia, today my friend Flu-- ...Spike, where did you get that paper?"
"...you...get...that...pa--HRRK!!"
Yes, I know, I'm a bastard.

ReplyDelete#2 I think the final punchline went over my head but amusing nonetheless!
What's the original quote from #1? Not sure if I want to see it, but I at least want to see that one scene if so many people are gonna make fun of it.
ReplyDeleteEven in evil genius mode, Fluttershy with a juice box will always be adorable.
ReplyDeleteIm the same as Fluttershy, except Im drinking Mountain Dew and my secret is watching MLP. :3
ReplyDeleteWow, ponies and MGDMT? Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't suspect Fluttershy of murder even if I found her burying a dead body in the Everfree Forest.
ReplyDeletegotta love how fluttershy is reading sweet apple massacre in that comic
ReplyDelete#1: Am I the only person here who's never seen Death Note?
ReplyDelete#2: Clicked on the link, saw "Gavalanche" in the URL, closed the tab. :/ Was that the right choice, or did he actually avoid doing any pedophilic shipping or otherwise creepy stuff for this comic?
@jodyjm13
ReplyDeleteYou aren't
He avoided creepy things for the most part with #2, till you brought it up I didn't even notice it was done by him (I just looked to see the site)
I'm not a fond of most of his things to say the least, that one was ok.
MGDMT makes me happy on so many levels, though I think Coelasquid would never willingly do a MLP crossover.
ReplyDelete...though I have a feeling if it ever did happen, Canadian Guy would somehow be involved.
What's the deal with Fluttershy and juiceboxes? I've been out of the loop since Friday when I came down with the flu... and suddenly FLUTTERSHY WITH JUICE! lol.
ReplyDeleteThat deathnote fluttershy one was terrifyingly adorable
