Holy Celestia, this is the... greatest... thing... ever, and I don't even like Cardcaptor! It's going to be hard to top this one!
It also needs to be turned into a full fledged series. Get on it studio B! Our wall eyed fandom mascot deserves it!

ReplyDeleteHere's what it's parodying in case you've never seen Cardcaptor Sakura.

This is the greatest fandom in the world. No doubt about it at this point.
ReplyDeleteThis is so brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant in so many different ways, it's hard to conceive just how brilliant that this animation is.
My hat is off to this animator. It's like being hit with a whammy of nostalgia and wondrous derpiness.
Having watched most of Cardcaptor, I really enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteAMG ITS SO PERFECT
ReplyDeleteVery well done animation. I could watch this all night if I didn't need to sleep. Agreed, this may be "the... greatest... thing... ever"
ReplyDeleteOMG, this is SUCH a great Quality !
ReplyDeleteAnd "only" 2 months ? With how much help ?
Just imagine what could be possible in 6 months with that quality !
MLP never have to end at this rate.
I would definitely watch a show about Derpy, even if I have no clue what Cardcaptor is.
ReplyDeleteTHAT, was awesome!
ReplyDeletefor some reason i could watch it on my phone, so i had to drag my plot out of my warm comfy bed, restart my computer (which i had turned off 1 minute earlier) and then watch this, and it was worth it!
good work :)
now i have to get back to bed, it's freaking cold, damn these freezing winter months...
This has all my likes! All of them! This fandom is the best ^_^
ReplyDelete@Wento
ReplyDeleteugh...
i meant *couldn't*, obviously :P
I love this fandom so...so...much....
ReplyDeletewow... this was great!
ReplyDeleteAnother childhood memory made better by ponies :D
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a spin-off series with the background ponies and Derpy as the lead. That would be so much fun!
ReplyDeleteNice... I get some kind of subtitles when i hold my mouse over the bottom of the animation..
ReplyDeleteTOO MUCH WIN! MY EYES!
ReplyDeleteGOOD GOLLY GOSH!!! That was incredible!!!
ReplyDeleteToo much win for one post. Split it up and post this daily for a year.
Those subtitles are hilarious. And yes, it is too much win. So much win cannot be comprehended my mortal minds.
ReplyDeleteFrom the tiny bit I know, I've never watched card-capter (i.e. "it's like playing MTG but the cards turn into pokemon") I never got into it, but making Derpy the star, bring it on! lol
ReplyDeleteAnyone else have the animation start flashing blue randomly near the end or was it just me?
This was awesome! Looooooove it!
ReplyDeleteI dont even what thats just what like wow cardcaptor I watched that show as a kid wow
ReplyDeleteSubtitles if you hold mouse over the bottom of it.
FANTASTIC!
ReplyDeleteThe Nostalgia... IT BUUUUUUURNS!!!
ReplyDeleteTruly amazing, Sakura Card Captor was one of the most classic animes that I used to watch as a kid. It was simply funny and nice. Thanks for the memories.
I remember watching the english dub when I was a kid, I have a few episodes on DVD (dubbed). May have to look up an episode of the un-dubbed version on Youtube now that I think about it.
ReplyDeleteHell YES!
ReplyDeleteThat was amazing!
ReplyDeleteCardcaptor was good as long as you saw the full 70 episodes that aired in Canada and Britain, American channels got a 36 episode butchered version.
Magical girls: Like.
ReplyDeletePonies: Like.
This: DO FREAKING WANT. :D
it looked like she didnt derp that much in the begining =P
ReplyDeleteAmazing animation! Loved it!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, Cardcaptor Sakura, The Best anime I could've possible watched. It was literally my entrance gate into the internet. If I hadn't watched it, I doubt I'd be even enjoying the internet as I do now. Heck, I doubt I'd even run into ponies without that show. This Fandom is awesome.
ReplyDeleteFinally an excuse to don my Hipster glasses. I saw this before it was up here. (I have wanted an excuse to do that forever)
ReplyDeleteIts brilliant and pretty adorable. I really liked it and major props to Alfa for making it.
I tried to expect the unexpected.
ReplyDeleteI failed.
Oh sweet Celestia this is some of the best fan animation I've ever seen! Actually feels like it could be it's own separate spinoff series in Japan!
ReplyDeleteThat officially made my day. Just amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou. Whoever made this thing that makes me cry because you aren't working on the show even though this is almost better than the show's actual animation...
ReplyDeleteDO MORE THINGS. DO ONE FOR TEEN TITANS NEXT. DO IT. DO IT NOW.
HYPNOTOAD COMMANDS IT.
Epic
ReplyDeleteWelp, my work in this fandom is done, now that we've the best ponymation ever right there.
ReplyDeleteSeems like an intro to an Anime series, that was great.
ReplyDeleteI cried. MLP and my childhood mixed up pretty well.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular, now this is what I'm talkin about!
ReplyDeleteNever seen or heard of the show. But, this was still awesome.
ReplyDeletehfjsjfsjsjw!!!
ReplyDeleteMust've taken some serious skills and time.
ReplyDeleteFor those of you not familiar with Cardcaptor Sakura think of the above as 'Generic Anime Opening Derpy'.
ReplyDeleteHo-ly crud that's one of the most amazing animations I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteVery smooth. Very well done!
Now I feel nostalgic. I watched Cardcaptor in spanish so I didn't have to deal with the 4kids dub :D
ReplyDeleteThis was awesome!
so much win
ReplyDeleteI've never seen or heard about "Cardcaptor Sakura" but I really, really liked it. Derpy is best pony!
ReplyDeleteSo many memories...
ReplyDeleteThose are some mad skills in animation. Props to that and the effort he put on it. Good one.
ReplyDeleteHe also has a Ask Nightmare Moon Tumblr. I asked if the stars invite Nightmare Moon over for tea. (It could happen!) <_< >_> 9.9 ♪ ♫
ReplyDeleteYes yes and YES this is awesome! ^3^
ReplyDeleteWords cannot describe how awesome that was
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash couldn't even describe how awesome it was
I had a really, really awful day at work, and not even the Drawfriend did much good at cheering me up. This did the trick. 5 stars isn't nearly enough for this animation; it's so gloriously silly and fun that it rates 5 muffins! I hope the MLP:FiM staff watches it sometime.
ReplyDeleteThis is the greatest thing of all possible things. Pretty much shot for shot spot on.
ReplyDeleteAnd of COURSE Carrot Top is Tomoyo!
Love it. :D
@Fluttershy Lover
ReplyDeleteThat's because its a shot for shot homage to this anime series :)

@dw1482
ReplyDeleteThe Canadian version was also horribly butchered, edited and shown out of order. :(
I just watched episode 16, Sakura and the Card of Memories, where, out of the blue, Sakura meets her grandfather and conjures up a rainbow. Then the little golden thing gave some fireside speech about the bird head cane Sakura carries around and uses to unlock cards or something... What is this series? Little House on the Prairie with a touch of magic? My Neighbor Totoro or Kiki's Delivery Service, but spread over 70 episodes? With a series title "Card Captors" I was expecting tournaments. Not that I didn't like Totoro or Kiki's. They were fine movies. I prefered Princess Mononoke and Howl's moving Castle. So, is all of Card Captor's like episode 16? A lot of tea and being kind to strangers and an occasional magical gift?
ReplyDeleteThat's some nice animating. Derpy you're so awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis...is...AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteCan't say I'm really a Cardcaptor fan myself. I never watched it though. But I still loved this. It was so cute and Derpy was being her awesome self as always. This was also quite well done. Definately enjoyed it. <3
ReplyDeleteYou have made the rest of my week a joy, thank you!
ReplyDeleteOMG this is amazing stuff. AMAZING STUFF!
ReplyDeleteThat was great, but I have to ask...
ReplyDeleteAside from me is there any brony that isn´t intrested in anime?
@Angel
ReplyDeleteMy level of interest is low, mostly just stuff from Studio Ghibli. Does that count?
Awsome video, best seen with subtitles
ReplyDelete@jodyjm13Yeah it counts, everyone has some kind of interest on it at some point. I actually liked many animeish cartoons from my early childhood and I enjoyed Spirited Away from Studio Ghibli. But aside from that, not much
ReplyDeleteThis is the most Epic Derpy related thing i've seen on EQD :D
ReplyDeleteI wish Hub and Hasbro would do more with Derpy =(
Now let's make a "Letter Bee" version with Derpy!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering when someone was going to do the opening for Cardcaptor Sakura...
ReplyDeletethat was amazing. Props to the guy/gal who animated it!
ReplyDelete@AngelYou're not alone. I'm not interested in anime either.
ReplyDeleteThis was awesome. I love Cardcaptor Sakura (the original Japanese version) and this just made my day. Kudos to the animator.
ReplyDelete@frith
ReplyDeleteInB4 tl;dr
The basic premise of the show is that Sakura accidently unleashes a set of powerful, reality altering cards and must then track them down and re-seal them magically. The first season is very episodic, with most episodes being of a one card per episode variety with the later two seasons offering more variety and subplots (70 episodes and 2 movies in total, not counting the 4 omakes). The show really has something for everyone though. There's action, drama, comedy, intrigue, romance, gluttonous plush toys, obsessive best friends, creepy child sorcerers (I'm looking at you Eriol). The usual.
Oh, and even though the show is part of the "Magical Girl" genre there are no magical "transformation" scenes. All of her costumes are handmade. Just one of the things I love about the show.
Suddenly, THE AMAZINGNESS
ReplyDeleteNOW I LOVE EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE EVER
HD and subtitles, on YouTube:

...how could you not like cardcaptor sethisto? I... am... wow. I don't know how anyone could not like it.
ReplyDeleteANYWAY. THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER. *hits repeat over and over and over*
So this wants me to expect that while derpy has a crush on a muffin, that muffin would later being that angel guardian who would test derpy if she should be master of the mail?
ReplyDeleteHOLY CRAP! o.o
/read too into it lol
@Wired Penguin Oh thank you! That sounds a lot more interesting than the synopsis someone gave me in a FIM community I maintain (they said it was about friendship and saving the neighbourhood every so often). What's an "omake"?
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've seen, magical tranformation scenes are mostly filler, from cheezy old Hercules (1960's?) to He Man and Magical Do Re Mi.
This will have to go on my 'to watch' list.
Love it. All of it.
ReplyDelete@frith
ReplyDeleteAn omake is a short bonus feature. There is one segment called "Leave it to Kero" that plays at the end of several episodes but there are 4 separate ones in addition to that. They shouldn't be hard to find around the internet. The 4 separates you shouldn't watch until you've completed the series.
In fairness to the other synopsis you received, two of the shows main themes are about friendships and saving the neighborhood. Well, it's more complicated than that but I don't want to give too much away and those are only a couple aspects of the series. It sounds like they may have been referring to Cardcaptors, which is the American dub that was severely altered and removed most of the plot elements. The original Japanese version (Cardcaptor Sakura) is what I recommend.
