I don't know about the rap battle, but honestly in any contest between the two Twilight wins by default, because there's so little to Trixie's character, canonically speaking. I don't quite understand the fascination the fandom has with her...I mean, I'd like to see her return in the show, if she could return in a meaningful way, but I don't quite see why everyone thinks she's so awesome when she was essentially a giant jerk the entire time she was around.
Note that my lack of understanding does not mean I think poorly of others for liking her or anything. I just don't get it.
Trixie, you have to remember you belong to a hipster sort of fandom. Losing a popularity contest here means you're really quite popular with normal folks.
Empty slate characters with antisocial personalities make the best foundations for fan development. It's easy to impose tragic loneliness on the character, which then leaves the door open for endless tragi-comic stories everywhere from "lonely but determined evil-doer takes over the world in a quest for vengeance" to "And then Scoot a loo showed her the magic of friendship, and they all grew older and wiser."
Plus, Trixie has the additional benefit of being theatrical. It's a cute, well-done trait that's appealing without nailing her down to a character in a way that would make the above impossible.
Alright, that I can understand, particularly considering the way this fandom takes background ponies and molds them into characters far beyond anything they'd ever actually be in the show.
Personally I'd still rather work with the Mane Six and other more established characters in fanworks, but your logic on why Trixie is so popular for fanworks does make sense.
I concur, the way in which your argument is presented is a fine example to all the ruffians who would otherwise disagree with your clear cause and I find myself agreeing with whatever you say.
I think it's awesome that a fandom like ours can give such an intricate story to a background character who didn't really get a lot of time during the show. It really speaks to how awesomely creative we all are. I think Trixie did win the rap battle as a matter of fact. And that Twilight only won by virtue of her mainstream popularity. You have to consider too that they're basically on equal ground, seeing as how neither one has actually defeated an Ursa Major.
Perhaps not, but Trixie couldn't even handle an Ursa Minor. Trixie's good at what she does, but she's only good at what she does. Twilight's pretty much the chosen avatar of Magic, and it's pretty clear that she has the one-up on pretty much every other unicorn in Equestria being that her magic isn't limited by her cutie mark, being that her cutie mark is magic.
Trixie is style over substance. All flash, but no shimmer. Which is good in its' own right, but Twilight's in a league of her own.
You are absolutely correct. In a magic fight, there's no question who the winner is. But weere talking about a rap battle, which anyone who seen one knows it's all about flash. It's about that wow factor, and that's where Trixie is clearly superior.
Personally, I have no idea why she's loosing. Her rap was spot-on and her voice perfectly matched the original, while Twilight wasn't really sounding like herself and her rap felt less solid than Trixie's.
Apparently, people are voting for her solely because of character, instead of performance.
Nah, it's just because Twi's insults were more true and more meaningful, and I'm saying that as someone who voted Trixie for the reasons you gave.
While Trixie's rap was better technically, in terms of generating the "oof" in a burn, Twi's just got better material to work with: Trixie is sociopathic while Twi's hard working, social, and smart.
Well, I like Trixie. She could've run off and left Ponyville to its fate, but she stayed and fought the Ursa, despite FULLY knowing she was no match for it. Which to be blunt was more than what Dash, Applejack and Rarity did.
As for the show, hey, guess what? Dash started the whole ball of wax. "Magic, schmagic, boo!" Yes, during a damned magic show! Trixie had been doing a stage performance that the rest of the crowd seemed to actually enjoy, until those three just... what, decided to be flankholes about it?
Trixie's not perfect, mind you. But she's a lot better than what some people think.

ReplyDeleteOh Trixie. Don't be mad. Not everypony can be as good as Twilight.

ReplyDeleteOr are you just putting this image to see the reaction of the people?
Now I'm curious...
Why is Applejack so angry?
ReplyDeleteSorry, Trixie, but PK was right. "Twilight Sparkle is best pony all ponies. . ."
ReplyDeleteFEAR NOT MY LADY )<
ReplyDeleteWe are not worthy, but speak the word and a thousand bronies will rise to defend your honor <3
Trixie is probably angry because I just hit what was left of her wagon with an air strike to clean up the mess left by that Ursa Minor.
ReplyDeleteAnd it burned up her favorite hat and cape.
Sorry! But orders are orders, and ordinance is ordinance. And my orders from the big C herself were clear.
@Antiochus Couldn't have said it better myself.
ReplyDeleteTwilight makes everything happy and sad adorkably cute.
ReplyDeleteTrixie is there to make the other emotions like Apathy, Vanity and Anger (and all other negatives) smexy for those not into the sad and adorkable! :P
As Luna would say:
ReplyDeleteI DOTH INQUIRE TO THINE STATE OF AGITATION, MALE SIBLING.
I love ya' Trixie, I really do, but Twilight was simply the better rap battler and got my vote.
ReplyDeleteI will however contest that Twi is the best pony of all ponies. (Shenanigans I say, shenanigans!)
Hey, cool picture))
ReplyDeleteBUT! Render on 3-th stage!!!(It is bad).
Nice try, still not Trixie fan

ReplyDelete@Depo007 @.@ Wat. Are you just trolling us or did you actually confuse a light blue unicorn for an orange earth pony?
ReplyDelete"We" still love you? I'm not on THIS team XD
ReplyDeleteTwilight IS the best pony. Live with it, Little Trix.

ReplyDeleteu mad?
ReplyDeleteShe looks Italian =P
ReplyDeletedont worry Trixie, you'll come back
ReplyDeleteAwww, come now, don't feel so bad.
ReplyDeleteGetting 26% of the vote against Twilight is still 10% better than any other who has tried. And it's 24% better than Applejack.
She just want some hugs :`(
ReplyDelete(((((((Trixie)))))))
How about your new years resolution Seth is to get 2 days of sleep. Seriously bro, try and rest.

Sexy Angry Naked Trixie for the win!
ReplyDeleteI think I might be going strange. Trixie always looks naked to me when shown without hat/ cape - even though most ponies normally wear nothing at all!
ReplyDeleteIt's obviously an effect of how she's normally shown 'clothed' - I wonder if the apparent nakedness still works if she's in a crowd of other ponies?
SETH!
ReplyDeleteSeth, seriously, let Trixie go... she's never coming back.
ReplyDeleteEver.
Trixie 4 life

This happened every time Pheonix Wright made a decent objection in the newest episode of the crossover, true story.
