ReplyDelete@Rainbow Crash
ReplyDeleteSounds* great
Suspected something Team Fortress related for a moment there.
ReplyDeleteI always figured Ponyville was a suburb of manhattan and that all of the stallions commuted to Manehattan or something
ReplyDeleteTopsy Kretts? Doctor Whoof? Big Mac? Oh I'm loving this already
ReplyDeleteOh man, I can't wait for the next chapter! I can only imagine the next scene being entertaining!
ReplyDeleteThis was pretty funny. A good 15 minute read, to be sure.
ReplyDelete"Mann"? This wouldn't be TF2 related would it?
ReplyDeleteAdding to my list of things to read, but it's a big'un
Pretty darn funny stuff here.
ReplyDeleteI seriously expected the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night explanation for the "What is a mann?" question. I'm not sure if I'm grateful or disappointed that you didn't go down that route. If you even know what I'm talking about, that is.
Still, this was enjoyable and would like to see more if you decide to expand on it. The ending was also pretty funny. Spike got busted!
Brotherhood of Mann? A reference to How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying AND Team Fortess 2 perhaps? Gotta read soon.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I really, really want to see more of this. That was hilarious, and not at all similar to the group I meet with to play cards on the weekend. Nope. Not in the slightest.
ReplyDelete@R.T. Stephens
ReplyDeleteDangnabbit! Now I can't unsee (unthink?) this because of you.
Good God, what they do sounds like what my roommates and I do. Except without the cards, or the hard cider, and more whiskey. I really hope this isn't a one shot. It's just so entertaining.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see the boys doing something on their own for once. This fandom was running the risk of becoming a bit girly.
ReplyDeleteWho controls the British crown, we do
ReplyDeleteWho keeps the metric system down, we do...
Then it turns out to be nothing more than a fraternity like in the movie Old School.
This was hilarious, I hope the next chapter is just a funny, maybe even start an order in another city as well.
Enjoyed it although I'm not in agreement with others in wanting to see it continue.
ReplyDeleteMost things like this the next step is the mares think the stallions are hiding something from them so plan an infiltration.
While reading this there was a nagging feeling that the story seemed familiar to me, im not sure but it might have taken inspiration from that episode of the Simpsons where Homer joins the secret cult called the Stonecutters.
ReplyDeleteI might have missed the reference completely but it seems familiar..
Anyway great job so far, can't wait for the next part!
@James
ReplyDeleteAhh I knew I wasn't crazy lol!
Hee, this was a fun little read. On one hand I wouldn't mind seeing more, but on the other hand I think this works better as a one-shot story, so yeah.
ReplyDeleteSpike better think up that explanation quick.
I liked the king of the hill reference thrown in there.
ReplyDeleteYep, Yep, mhm, Eeyup
It was an enjoyable read.
Personally when I first read the description and the first few Paragraphs I thought it was going to be something like the Men of the Square Table (the old "Man Law" Miller Light commercials.) Otherwise good start
ReplyDeleteAh hahahahaha That was really good.
ReplyDeleteThat was a fun read. Rarity's father would've made an interesting addition, though it would probably be awkward if Spike vented his feelings with him around.
ReplyDeleteThis was amusing, I await moar.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Spike is finally hangin' with the dudes! And he even gets an opportunity to participate in the grandest tradition of all Mann-dom: coming up with an excuse for the female in charge.
ReplyDeleteLol, I would like to see this continue if only for a part or 2 more
ReplyDeleteSo they just drink cider, talk, sing and play simple games. Remind me why it has to be secret again.
ReplyDeleteI loved this story. Hopefully it can last a chapter or 2 longer. :)
ReplyDeleteBecause it being a secret fosters a sense of belonging, brotherhood and makes it more fun.
ReplyDeleteSeriously they outnumber us like 4 to 1 out there. Not that that's a bad thing....
ReplyDeleteA funny read, but I expected a bit more secret stuff. Pretty good.
I'm pretty sure that "fraternal brotherhood" is redundant.
ReplyDeleteA very nice read ^^ with lots of comedy material I definitely enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteGood work sir! 5 stars from me.
"'Eeyup.' said a pony who need not be explicitly identified."
ReplyDeleteBrilliant. Your style reminds me of Douglas Adams- you make very clever jokes with your wording. I can't wait to see more from you.
@banjo2E Intentionally redundant title is intentionally redundant.
ReplyDeleteIn b4 Fight Club.
ReplyDeletewait, FIN?
ReplyDeleteit's gonna end like that? D:
short story is short.
I kept expecting ponified Al Bundy to show up.
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun read. ^^ I wish it was longer or at least multi-part, but, after thinking about it, there's not much more to explore on this idea.
ReplyDelete@Ekevoo
ReplyDeleteThe hell there is. This could def be a running story. Imagine a chapter where they actually do try to prove how "mann" they are? I could see jackass grad, alcohol induced shenanigans ensuing. That and the basic tuesday night card game formula is a great way to just show goofy character interactions. I was waiting for SPike to challenge everyone to a drinking game and put everyone under the table.
hey author, if the above didn't get my point across, WANT MORE!
not the best ive read but its on the list of fics ill continue to read
ReplyDeleteSo is this a one shot or not?
ReplyDeleteI would have imagined the french accent to be from France, but that 'tabernac' showed me otherwise (by the way, you should go for 'tabarnac' next time). I never heard -or read- of a stereotypical waiter being French Canadian. what's that? I'm still picking on details again? My bad. I had fun reading this and would follow a sequel.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this story quite a bit. The humor was top-notch; at no point did I find it draggy or dull. I do wish that we had definitively found out whether Granny Smith et al know what the boys are really up to or not, but I'm not sure how you could have done that without abandoning Spike's perspective. The ending was abrupt, but that's not inappropriate for a story like this. Overall, great work.
ReplyDeleteTabernac! Un crissement Quebecois? Vive l'Equestria libre!
ReplyDeleteLoved it! Classic humour.
@Blackbelt: This HAS to happen.
ReplyDeleteAuthor, whoever you are, we need more chapters!
That was one hay of funny fanfic!
PART 2!?!?!?!? SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...
ReplyDeleteSo the brotherhood was an ancient order after all. Was there ever any doubt?
ReplyDeletePretty funny stuff there. Some of it reminds me of what my frat does on some nights. Drunken debauchery is always a great time to be had with follow men.
ReplyDeleteI want to give it five stars, but I already did after I read the first story...
ReplyDeleteConsistently funny stories are a rarity, and part two had me laughing throughout. Thanks for continuing the adventures of Mann!
Excellent story, I am glad the second update brought this to my attention.
ReplyDeleteBad ass Big Mac is best pony.
Oh Trolluna, you so silly.
