I'm surprised something as beautiful as #1 was thought of before. Very nice song. String instruments always have been the best with evoking emotion, and this song does that all too well.
You are correct my friend, Duane Decker wrote the pieces and I arranged this version. His music is not well known and this is my way of getting it out there. The music can easily be applied to this theme which is why I chose it. I'll get into writing my own stuff as I get more used to this.
Lyra doesn't get as much love in the fanfics as the other music ponies but that doesn't mean she is unappreciated. Although the title of the first video makes it sound like she died. Lyra will always be there for us, she's not going anywhere. :D
@AJTheEngineer Yes, I read the description and already googled for him, he's such an amazing musician! You did great job to perform his stuff! (Also RoN one of my favorite games :) )
For the love of Faust, guys, we can still call her Lyra, guys. The only reason that they didn't call her Lyra on the toy is because that could lead to legal trouble for them. And the only reason the name changed on the wiki is because they're a bunch of dicks that won't listen when people point out that Jayson has indeed referred to her as being "Lyra." (well, technically they do listen but they have some idiotic policy about Hasbro's toy division being more 'correct' than the actual show crew. Back-Asswards if you ask me.) Her name's still Lyra it just can't legally be Lyra on the toys if Hasbro doesn't want to get into trouble.
That said, number one is indeed a very nice piece.
#1 Unless she's called "Heartstrings" in the show, she's Lyra. lol Like Dusty mentioned, they couldn't use the name "Lyra" for legal reasons. Too much work. Yes, I'm going to keep saying this. ;) On a related note though, I really like this piece. It's very beautiful.
#2 Another lovely piece, AJTE. Yes, that's now my short name for you. lol
The second one was from RoN as well. I have arranged three pieces by Duane Decker and that was really the only amount I intended too. I needed a way to get used to the software and I wanted to get Decker's Music out there. However, I didn't write the music so I feel a bit guilty about it, but you people seem to think otherwise.
You may see more of Decker's work arranged in the future, but for now, on to other things.
I believe there's a perfect solution in the comments section of #1: Her full name should be Lyra Heartstrings, so we could still call her Lyra and be correct.
My headcanon is that Heartstrings, is better known amongst the citizens as the supervillain, "The Heartbreaker," and is Lyra's evil twin from Canterlot attempting to conquer Equestria. Lyra, when she isn't teaching music at the Ponyville Elementary school, puts on a suit, mask, and cape and fights her evil sibling as the superhero known as "The Lyricist," using her siren song, shattering scream, sonic flight, and hypnotic harp superpowers. As Equestria's own sonic superheroine, she fights crime and restore order wherever her evil twin goes!
Number one was amazing. Number two was amazing as well, but I felt like number three didn't represent Fluttershy, I feel like it's just too loud and it needs to sound more natural.

Quite enjoyed those first two. Fun stuff, Lyra is a darling isn't she? She and Bonbon need plenty of music.
ReplyDeleteThe third one is also very nice, just, not in the same way. =P
Props to the musicians.

See, I come back to this page and see that it has zero comments.. Then I realise I opened this tab about an hour ago and my opportunity has passed. =/

ReplyDeleteI'll listen to these later, YouTube's all funky for me. Judging by the comments, though, it seems like they're great.

Love #1. Lyra will always be Lyra to me.
ReplyDeleteFirst song is from Rise of Nations. Spent many good hours on that game
ReplyDeleteWait a tick, the first two songs are both from Rise of Nations. They barely sound different.

ReplyDeletePlus, it's a toy and not the show. :P
Recognized #1&2 from Rise of Nations immediately. Blast from the Past, and actually quite fitting.
