Hmm, the very beginning of #1 led me to believe it was going to be something very epic, but it ended up being something a bit less epic. Still, it sounds pretty cool. I'm usually not into this kind of music, but this is yet another exception.
dat zecora bum. you know, it's bugged me for a while, have people thought about the anatomy of creatures with tails. They don't look like they're stuck in with a butt-plug you know; they extend the spine...
#2: Meh. Half time drums, no meedlies, simply melodic phrasing and no solos? That's about as metal as a popsicle stick. Go check out ERock's cover of the MLP theme for some real musical ability.
of course the show's animators and designers are probably at fault here. they show the ponies' tails sticking up at a jaunty angle which, on a real pony, basically means f--- basically means they're on heat. Alternativaly that they're about to take a crap and don't want to get it on their tail...
1.) I enjoyed this one. Rather interesting even though I really don't care for that kind of representation of Zecora. I guess some do. Still a good song over all.
SimGretina started one and posted this 50 second demo within hours of the episode airing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRdtBlf36dI
The problem with remixing "May The Best Pet Win" is the song doesn't have the consistency that Winter Wrap Up and At The Gala had. Also, as SimGretina pointed out, there needs to be a vocal-only version of the original song for remixing because the instruments REALLY get in the way of remixing to a different musical genre.
I have high hopes for excerpts of MTBPW to be used in remixing, but remixing the entire song like SimGretina did to At The Gala and Winter Wrap Up? Tall order.
Oh wow, I'm getting a lot of critique about my track not being "metal enough". I intentionally made the track a lot "lighter" to appeal not only to the metal fans, but to those who normally don't appreciate metal for what it is. But it's a good thing you guys give me feedback like this, so I can improve for the next track! You guys are awesome!
#1 Dat Mistress. Dat picture. Also, some of those lyrics... yeah. lol Maybe someone has a little thing for Zecora? ;) Of course we have many people complaining over this one. But honestly, the lyrics are pretty good overall. Singing was pretty good as well. It's a good song, perhaps some subject matter aside. Though I'm not prudish enough to mind it that much. So all in all, I like it. Though no download link, aww.
#2 People complaining about this one not being metal enough. It is metal, it's just not as hardcore metal as some here would listen to. Though I don't mind that, because I really dislike some of the more hard metal where it sounds like they're simply hitting guitars over their own heads. This was decent I thought.
@StrangeNoiseIt means they are in heat not on heat. Of course it could also mean they are farting a lot, pooping or peeing or just excited. I have horses and they often run around with their tails standing straight up in the air when happy.
I'm not a metal fan at all. That said, #2 isn't really metal and even for non-metal it comes off.... flat.
It's one of those versions of a song that is so painfully obvious that it was done with a music synth that... it's... well painful. It's too regular, too evenly paced... It's faithful but it lacks energy.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with having an attraction to a cartoon pony because of her personality or her looks. They are designed to be pretty and attractive to the eye and they have personalities that make them interesting and fun to be around. So if you want to fantasize that you're a pony dating Zecorra or any other pony (cough Luna) then everypony else should be happy that you found somepony to love. Love is the most important thing.
#1 Picture is a little .... off, but the song interesting. At the very least, it's something I haven't heard before.
#2 As much as I've come to like Winter-Wrap Up now, all the remixes seem to start blending together. However, this clearly had effort put into it even if I don't feel it's exemplary.
Honestly though, nothing too amazing this time out. Good, but not amazing.
#1: This is a very good song. It reminds me of a song from the 70s, "Devil Woman" by Cliff Richards.
Not the music, but the subject of meeting someone mysterious, and being seduced.
The song is excellent in its own, as it's completely original, with lyrics, music, a story, and a catchy 'hook' to it.
Mind you, in the MLP series when no pony knew about Zecora, there were all kinds of rumors flown round about her. No doubt one like this would've been whispered.
This song is now on my continuous play list.
Might get out my bass and add a base line to this... we will see.

More pony metal. YES!
ReplyDeleteCompletey irrelevant, but does anyone here know if you can get Equestria Daily as an RSS feed for Rainmeter?
ReplyDeleteApplebloom!

ReplyDeleteWe couldn't be Trixie's pets, Seth. It'd be horrible of us to put you out on the street. <3

ReplyDeleteIt's been two days.
ReplyDeleteHow do we NOT have a remix of "Find a Pet" yet?
Hoping for that too :3
ReplyDelete#2 sounded pretty cool. The guitar in this was significantly more awesome than any other version I've heard.
ReplyDelete#2 is quite good. #1 disturbs me with the... incorrect tail.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Zero...
ReplyDeleteAnd i approve of this Winter Wrap Up mix. :)
nice winter wrap up metal!
ReplyDelete#1: Besides the awkward name and picture going with it. The intro was quite nice, but after that it went downhill.
ReplyDelete#2: Awesome, though there were a few parts which sounded a bit empty.

ReplyDelete2.) Decent, yet generic as well.

Both crazy awesome songs!
ReplyDeleteThat first song was amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe second one though, was not enough metal for my taste...but good as well, anyway :)
Zecora's tail.. wtf...
ReplyDeleteBut the song itself is okay. Kinda went downhill after the intro though.
#2
ReplyDelete>Metalized
As multiple posters have mentioned, wut? If this even qualifies as metal, it's an extremely soft metal.
Hmm... #2 sounds more like something that Burnout would use as rock. It's not bad at all, just more rock styled to me.

ReplyDelete1. Not sure if I want...
ReplyDelete2. It's been awhile since the last version of this, and I fearously approve!
@Dachimotsu
ReplyDeleteCorrection, there are two remixes, one called Pony Pet Labour and Giant Monarch Butterfly.

Nirre, I liked it the way it was - metal but toned down exactly as you said. Your idea to make it have wider appeal worked.

I don't understand why people have to hate on something that isn't even dirty or part of the song. It's just a picture people.
ReplyDelete@StrangeNoise
ReplyDeleteHahahaha... I love how bronies tell it like it is...

#2
Decent, but forgettable. Didn't have enough soul.
How can you not want number 1? There is just so much hate and discord in this Fandom lately.

@Daisymare
ReplyDeleteIt's the saucy-esque pic of Zecora is all. The song itself is pretty good, definitely unique.
bunch of pony pervs here.....so what if the tail is a little off? but dat flank! LOL!
ReplyDelete@Fathead oh and that is a disappointing metal WWU cover.....
ReplyDeleteLove #2 It's the awesomeist of awesome. Like the King of Metals Hair metal!
ReplyDeleteI adores it
2. Needs more Cowbell. And pony too.
ReplyDeleteDunno if I'd call #2 "metal," but I'd definitely call it awesome. That's a keeper right there!
ReplyDelete2. Eagerly clicked this post for the pony metal, what I got was nice, but far to soft to be metal in my book.
