Oh hey, Big Mac is still Big Mac! I'm definitely going to grab one of those for my show accurate pony set
And below, we have some more of those so soft toys. While not focused on our demographic (obviously) Maybe you can buy them for your niece or something? Maybe I'm just getting used to them, but these seem different than nightmare fuel Pinkie Pie.

B'awwww Big Mac
ReplyDeleteFIRST... oh god i need to log in. Im not first am i?
ReplyDeleteI actually made it to an equestria daily post without comments... scary!
ReplyDelete"Meadow Song"? Well, THAT certainly sounds like the name of a colt who loves fillies.
ReplyDeleteI may have to wait for Big Mac until someone customs him up with a yoke.
I don't remember the fanon name for Meadow Song.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'll say it right now, I don't mind the new blind bag names. Lyra will still be Lyra for me.
What's wrong with Big Macintosh's hoof/leg?
ReplyDelete@Jo
ReplyDeleteToo late for that.
Anyway... reading Big Macs bio...
"Is very gentle."
That... I don't know what to say to that, I'm at a loss for words.
So sombody say them for me.
Oh, look, there are translations of their traits... and what the hay Poland, they are described as fillies in polish O_o
ReplyDeleteWow, I actually kinda like the new blind bags.
ReplyDeleteIs that the Mortal Kombat pony from Luna Eclipsed?
ReplyDeleteso soft spike is actally kinda cute <3
ReplyDeleteMeadow Song - plays Mortal Kombat! er, I mean, is so musical ...
ReplyDeleteMeadow Song... Looks like we finally have a real country music singer? ^^
ReplyDeleteWas he ever featured in the show? I don't remember seeing him in any of the episodes.
Meadow Song... hey, is that the Ermac pony? The one who was called "Bluegrass" by fans?
ReplyDeletethose so softs are...creepy to say the least annoying as all hell
ReplyDeletebut i MUST have mac...once he isnt over priced
So "Bluegrass" is now "Meadow Song?"
ReplyDeleteHonestly, that name sounds more suited to a mare than a stallion. Who would name a colt "Meadow Song?" Are they TRYING to get him beaten up in magic kindergarten?
Meadow Song.... Maybe it's just the last name, but I am instantly reminded of River Song from Doctor Who.
ReplyDeleteFanon name is Bluegrass isn't it? I'll stick with that.
Oh hey, it's the Mortal Kombat pony without his costume! Can't wait to see when that's made into a custom (because you know it's going to happen)
ReplyDeleteDude wtf. Big Mac "Jest bardzo Ĺ‚agodna" - in Polish it is term for a female... For male it would be "Jest bardzo Ĺ‚agodny"
ReplyDeleteSuch an eyehurting typo.
Heh, polish describtion of Big Mac states he is a mare. Great job :P.
ReplyDeleteI was terrified that Big Mac would end up getting named something like "Apple Bubba". At least that didn't happen.
ReplyDeleteKILL IT WITH FIRE NOW. >=(
ReplyDeleteThose bottom ones are creepy. Now that we have Big Mac I wonder if we will see a Braeburn anytime?
ReplyDeleteOh and Ermac pony has a cannon name now.
But "Is very gentle" really?
Custom pony > official toys.
ReplyDeleteI agree. "Meadow Song" just doesn't sound right for a stallion. I like Bluegrass better.
ReplyDeleteI just have to keep telling myself that they are background ponies and I can ignore the stupid names Hasbro gives them.
ReplyDeleteBig mac is adorable. The rest are scary...
ReplyDeleteWell, of course Big Mac is still himself. lol He's an established character in the show. As for "Meadow Song", eh. I"m not keen on it myself but I don't mind a male with a more "girl-sounding" name honestly.
ReplyDelete>My face when the polish descriptions use the feminine form
ReplyDelete>as usually, I've no face.
Big Mac's mane on the toy makes him look like a ponified Van Halen member, not that I'm complaining.
ReplyDeleteBig Macintosh! I do love Big Mac.
ReplyDeleteAnd the soft toys, gah. I wouldn't mind them so much if they didn't talk in reaction to motion and make it damn near impossible for me to look at pony toys very long.
OH MY GOD. They imply that Big Mac is a girl in the french thing. "est vraiment gentille" means "is very nice"... FOR A GIRL!
ReplyDeleteDressing in style as usual I see.
ReplyDeleteI don't see anything wrong with a stallion named "Meadow Song", but then again I'm a guy named Jody, so my perspective may be a bit skewed.
ReplyDeleteAnd what's this folderol about "Big Macintosh"? His name is "Big McIntosh"! And they completely messed up his mane! Hasbro can't get anything right!
Big Macintosh's toy makes him look like mix of both genders. *facehoof* And it looks like they made the image to go along with the toy rather than base the toy off of the real character since the picture has his head shaped all weird too and red hooves rather than yellow. Plus his face gives me a gen 3.5 vibe... yikes. All around bad.
ReplyDeleteMeadow Song? Wasn't his name "Bluegrass" before?
ReplyDeleteHa, it's like they're taking the fan names and changing them just a tiny bit to avoid nonexistent lawsuits.
@Octavia
ReplyDeleteWhen dealing with Hasbro's pony toy division I don't take anything for granted.
That Spike in diapers... is the most disturbing thing I've ever seen...
ReplyDeleteNo way, he'll always be Big Macintosh to me. I'll never...wait... (yes, spelling, I know, I just don't care.)
ReplyDelete@Sun Ray
ReplyDeleteI once went through the Pony aisle in Toys R Us to see if they had the blind bag set, and that damn Pinkie Pie abomination went off when I waled in front of it. Scared the everloving shit out of me.
Bluegrass Meadowsong... I can deal with that.
ReplyDeleteToy continuity and show continuity are different. Meadow Song is an alternate-universe version of Bluegrass.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed HEY SETH!! YOU GOT THE TITLE WRONG AGAIN ITS SPIKE NOT PINKIE!
ReplyDeleteBig Mac is a gentle giant.
ReplyDeleteI may want to buy his blind-bag pony once they get to my country.
The Swedish translation "Är mycket vänlig" is really weird aswell. It would, in English, be something more in the lines of "Is very friendly".
ReplyDeleteThose soft toys are f*cking TERRIFYING.
ReplyDeleteUsually in bluegrass songs, meadows are where you bury the bodies of the people you killed down by the river.
ReplyDeleteSo if that helps you realize it as a manly name, go to it.
I just now noticed the Danish and Swedish text on the cards... these are available in Scandinavia? Where are these so-called "blind bags" sold?
ReplyDeleteSo Soft ponies are usually pretty scary... but that Spike one is pretty freaking adorable.
ReplyDelete@Suburbanbanshee
ReplyDeleteOnly in the songs that are about moonshine or infidelity. Which is only about 90% of them, really.
I kid, I kid. I live in a very bluegrass-centric area, and I can safely report that moonshine and infidelity feature in only 60% of bluegrass songs.
So-Soft Spike?
ReplyDeleteLE WHAT?
Trying to bring back the baby crap are we Hasbro?
ReplyDeleteFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
Big Macintosh is ALWAYS right...
ReplyDelete...except his hoof color.
OK, funny thing about French, our adjectives have gender. That is, the same gender as that of their subject. "Gentille" is feminine. The translator though Big Macintosh was a girl.
ReplyDeleteAs a University student in English-to-French translation, allow me to say this: that is fucking unprofessional.
Anyone else think the sifts look creepy?
ReplyDeleteSofts damn autocorrect
ReplyDeleteWell now.
ReplyDeleteBig McIntosh
-Faust said it was Mcintosh on her Deviantart.
Big Macintosh
-Sabrina Alberghetti said it was Macintosh on her Deviantart citing the script of the episodes with him.
-The toy division says Macintosh.
Oh look. The person who is actually still part of the show ended up right while the person who wasn't ended up wrong. How shocking.
Okay I'm okay with Meadow Song.
ReplyDeleteGuys, something is very wrong with this Big Mac.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just the french phrase. The portuguese one too, and I believe most of the other languages that are not gender-neutral are actually saying that Big Macintosh is a GIRL.
Also, his eyes are feminine in that image. In the show, Big Mac's eyes are almost always half-open, and there are no visible eyelashes.
The softs. . . the softs. . . the softs. . . the. . . softs. . . (eyes roll back as I fall to the ground, my soul being forcibly removed form my body.)
ReplyDeleteOh, and am I the only one who thinks in the "nightmare fuel Pinkie Pie" comic, Pinkie has a really scratchy and deep voice, like those creepy aunts you see on TV?
ReplyDeleteI just noticed that "Meadow Song" is the stallion who dressed up like Ermac in Luna Eclipsed, his daughter wants to be a zombie next year for Nightmare Night.
ReplyDeleteApplejack: Who the hay is Star Dreams?
ReplyDeleteThe translation in french describes him as a female pony xD
ReplyDeleteGentille = refers to a girl
Gentil = refers to a man
(and of course, it means gentle)
That comic...
ReplyDelete"I saw Arcadia destroyed. I laughed in the face of the Nightmare Child."
Meadow Song...
ReplyDeleteWasn't he the ninja pony in Luna Eclipsed?
So here it's Big Macintosh as opposed to Big McIntosh? Ah well, I suppose I can't call this confirmation if I refuse to call the background pony names confirmation, huh. XP
ReplyDeleteAnd the debate re: Macintosh/McIntosh ends.
ReplyDeleteNeeeeeeed.
Yay! Bluegrass! I'm gonna get one, an custom it up as Ermac, because you don't mess with Bluegrass.
ReplyDelete"We are manypony. You are but one pony. We will destroy you."
I love the fact that they are adding additional blindbag ponies to the line up, but aside from the few releases we've seen of SOME of the Mane 6, and the Toys-R-Us exclusive 12 piece set, we've NEVER had an actual release of all the blind bag ponies.
ReplyDeleteI'm more ticked off at Hasbro for not having EVER ACTUALLY RELEASED ANY of the actual blind bags in the USA... The biggest market and the earliest market for MLP, thanks to the better availability of the show on the Hub network.
What is with Hasbro's ignoring the US market with blind bags? The Toys-R-Us set was a true blessing! It's a shame though, cause I WOULD BUY EVER BLIND BAG I SPOTTED if they showed up locally!
Whaaa~! I looove the spike plush.. I would buy that for myse-cough- er.. my son. yes.. hehe
ReplyDelete...D:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvAES6Y9Kfw
Meadow song? He'll always be Ermac to me.
ReplyDeleteBig macintosh: is very gentle… if you know what I mean
ReplyDeleteThese blind bags are horrible... Hasbro should be ashamed to have released them.
ReplyDelete"jest bardzo Ĺ‚agodna" means "she is very gentle"
ReplyDeleteguess they first make the labels , then they throw ponies in , not caring about the gender.
Blindbags: I dont mind them, but i'll NEVER consider them canonical.
ReplyDelete@Sourcils
ReplyDeleteLooks like they never sent any gender information to their international translators, and are probably simply unaware of gender differences in some languages. As you said though, really unprofessional X_x
Translating the polish part of the text on the card: SHE IS VERY GENTLE
ReplyDeleteBIG MAC IS A FEMALE!!!
Finally the discussion about Big Mac's name's spelling is solved!
ReplyDeleteI need Big Mac. Sooo bad.
ReplyDeleteAnd male ponies are FTW in general. :]
@metaXzero
ReplyDeleteDo you seriously think that Alberghetti has anything to do with naming Big Macintosh? Do you also think that the correct spelling is "Philemina" and "Applebloom"?
It's like going 64/16, cancel out the 6, 4/1 equals four.
While the answer may be correct, the assumption that Alberghetti has anything to do with naming the character is false.
Big Mac is very gentle...
ReplyDeleteIs that why all the mares love him?
@metaXzero
ReplyDeleteOh, and don't forget to capitalize the I in Big MacIntosh... oh wait.
Have these been released in the US yet? If not, when will they be?
ReplyDelete
