The Reddit pony group recently did a flipbook competition, and this is one of the stand-out submissions. That's a lot of paper right there! It could use some background music though.
Yowza. That's a lot of paper and a lot of time spent. Getting all that to line up on those post-it notes without removing them must've been such a pain!
They say that it took all the trees in Everfree Forest for paper and the immortal patience of an alicorn just to create an epic of such magnitude... Jeez, no wonder Lauren quit!
Wow. This is quite a large amount of paper they used to make that. Went through numerous pads. lol I love flipbooks. They're so cool. This one was made pretty well.
Hmmm... The only thing I want to know is how the Everfree forest was made. It is supposedly unnatural and something like that would not have been purposefully made...
Really impressive; even Lauren Faust said so. I just wish the animator had been more consistent in capturing the drawings on film as he flipped through the books; there were times when the top half of the drawings became hard or impossible to see while the pages were being flipped.
i was listening to Luna's Ruse (ft. haymaker) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&list=PLA02F733D3E46C0CA&v=-BjO2pXcqJI) i found it quite fitting to this flipbook
Finally! Was waiting for this epic-ness to show up on EqD right after Lauren commented about it on her deviantART page: http://comments.deviantart.com/4/1603670/2286086430 :D

ReplyDeleteI saw this contest on the subreddit, and wow, this is far above and beyond what I was expecting.
ReplyDeleteThat is just crazy. It must have taken so long to complete. So Canterlot just grew out of the mountain, huh? Interesting. :P
ReplyDeleteWow kudos to you sir, I don't think I would have the patience to do that.
ReplyDeletePretty awesome I liked it. Very well done
ReplyDeleteYowza.

That had to take a lot of focus and time! Beautiful artwork. Truly amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, that was pretty awesome I must say, had to have taken a good amount of time, props to the creator!

ReplyDeleteYay! Magical sparkly stuff! Thanks guys, this makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteRespect.
ReplyDeleteHe could have just animated it, but than it wouldn't have been even slightly as awesome.
ReplyDeleteMad Respect
ReplyDeleteThat was amazing! Well made flipbooks always kind of astound me.
ReplyDeleteReally quite impressive. Lauren Pony is the best pony.

ReplyDeleteIt was.... simply and oddly fitting.
I want to see an animated version of this, that would be cool.

ReplyDeleteNoo this is an outrage there are only two alicorns
ReplyDeleteHmmm... The only thing I want to know is how the Everfree forest was made. It is supposedly unnatural and something like that would not have been purposefully made...
ReplyDeleteKinda obvious everybody already knows Faustacorn did it we just didn't know how
ReplyDeleteI have no words...
ReplyDelete...save for holyshitmybrain
Epic level flip-booking. I must see MORE.
Dude, that is awesome. The amount of time it took for this must have been lengthy indeed.
ReplyDeleteHoly jesus monkeys. That was impressive.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see that changed to animation.
ReplyDeleteMy words mean nothing to describe how fantastic that flip book is. That looks as close to animation besides, well, animating it.
ReplyDeleteThat was absolutely badass. It reminds me of the Sonic videos from Sonic CD and the movie for how fast paced parts of it are. Wonderful work.
ReplyDeleteReally impressive; even Lauren Faust said so. I just wish the animator had been more consistent in capturing the drawings on film as he flipped through the books; there were times when the top half of the drawings became hard or impossible to see while the pages were being flipped.
ReplyDeleteFramerate seems to suddenly drop really low at numerous points in this video.
ReplyDeleteIn all seriousness, though, that was incredibly well done. That had to be remarkably tedious.
Wow. That was incredible! Seriously well done, artist- that must have taken tons of time and a lot of foresight to pull off!
ReplyDeleteHoly hell that is amazing
ReplyDeletePinkie Pie lied to us!
ReplyDeleteWow, the awesomness of that is enough to ignore my nerd-conscience that tells my Ponyville was started by earthponies :P
ReplyDeleteSeriously, confound the limitations of paper, I want this as one big flpibock, now!
Whoa. That is so mad skill there.
ReplyDeleteIt would be so awesome to scan this page for page, to make an animation.
ReplyDeleteBut that alone would take nearly as much time as making the flip book.
Good on you brony! Amazing job.
YAY UNCONVENTIONAL FANIMATION
ReplyDeleteThat was nice....I could feel bg music running in my head while watching this....
ReplyDeletei was listening to Luna's Ruse (ft. haymaker) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&list=PLA02F733D3E46C0CA&v=-BjO2pXcqJI)
ReplyDeletei found it quite fitting to this flipbook
@Chicken Vortex
ReplyDeleteI love you, so much.
i like the part with the "magic sparkling stuff"
ReplyDeleteFinally! Was waiting for this epic-ness to show up on EqD right after Lauren commented about it on her deviantART page: http://comments.deviantart.com/4/1603670/2286086430 :D
ReplyDeleteNow someone needs to scan each frame and put it into a video for an animation. Add music any maybe color and sound effects.
ReplyDeleteThat's just insanely cool! :O
ReplyDeleteOH GREAT It said Office Max on the post-its SOPA send him to the moon for 5 years
ReplyDeletejesus
ReplyDeleteThe creation of everything reminded me A LOT of the style in The Neverhood. So I applaud this!
