An alternate synopsis of Episode 10 has been released by AT&T. This episode sounds pretty amazing.
Synopsis can be found in the image, or after the break!
Thanks to Jordan for the image
After Spike's birthday gifts activate his greedy dragon instincts, he undergoes an outrageous growth spirt that threatens to destroy all of Ponyville, so he must find a way to stop growing and save the inhabitants of the city.

Spike growth spurt. That'll inspire many a comic.....
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I'm curious about is if the growth will be permanent. Probably not, but it would be pretty interesting to see a more grown up Spike throughout the rest of the season.
ReplyDeleteToo bad we have to wait so long D:

ReplyDeleteinteresting
ReplyDeleteDang, I was hoping for a new episode synopsis. I'm just really curious whether after the Holiday episode Fluttershy or Pinkie will get their own episode.
ReplyDeleteWait a second, didn't Spike already have a random growth spurt that destroyed part of Canterlot?
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the growth spurt will look like: cutie mark chronicles or a dog a pony show
Poor giant Spike. Twilight's going to need a much bigger library. :(
ReplyDeleteCannot wait to see this one. It'll answer many questions I have about Spike, and Dragons in general in the MLP universe.
ReplyDeleteSo, SO excited for this episode.
ReplyDeleteIt Takes A Village is going to turn out better then the episode. I'm calling it now.
ReplyDeleteHope the episode is still good though.

ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who thought of Fallout: Equestria after seeing this? The whole dragon thing...
ReplyDeleteOh Celestia, the clopfics that will arise from this, the terrible terrible clopfics
ReplyDeleteOh, I can't wait to see Rarity's reaction, or when Spike meets Rarity!!
ReplyDeleteWith a description like that, I highly doubt Spike will stay like that. Describing the growth spurt as outrageous just screams of it being too much of a mid-season change to be permeneant
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I noticed in that image was right below the synopsis, "TOMMY RYGOT, OF COURSE. ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA."
ReplyDeleteCalling it now: Godzilla references. :)
ReplyDeleteI really don't understand why anyone would consider the remote possibility of it being permanent, or why anyone would WANT it to be permanent.
ReplyDeleteSpike is great how he is, and there is absolutely no way they would change him so dramatically in a 'slice of life' series such as FiM.
Not sure how i'm feeling about this episode. The plot sounds good but i'm not the biggest fan of Spike, so an episode centered around him doesn't get me too excited. I'll give that lil' dragon the benefit of the doubt though, seeing as Season 2 has been pretty solid so far :)
ReplyDeleteSpike: Twilight, take a note. I've always wanted to say that.
ReplyDeleteDear Princess Celestia....
I'm excited about this too... Love Spike, very interested to learn more about him and dragonsin the show. I also can't wait to see what a big Spike actually looks like... The Godzilla version from when he was hatched? Does he look more like the Red and Green dragons we've already seen? Does he just look the same as he does now, but much bigger?
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping it has plenty of Spike/Twilight interaction and Spike/Rarity as well.
Wonder how close / far off "It takes a village" will be to a canon grownup Spike. I hope we see Spike grow up throughout the seasons, and not just have this be a one time thing.

ReplyDeleteFor anyone wondering, no, it wouldn't be permanent and carry into other episodes. They simply wouldn't keep change that major to the story permanent. It'll get resolved in the episode and Spike will go back to being a baby dragon again I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteKinda a bit too much infomation AT&T...i would like to see part of the main plot...not all of it...cause that kinda ruinned it for me like in the mystierous ( yeah i know spelling ) mare do well...when i saw her fixing the dam i knew who it was that moment on...but no one/pony explained to me who saved the pony that was in the falling balloon...*sigh* i really hope i dont predict this episode
ReplyDeleteShould be interesting for sure
ReplyDeletedang I didn't wans read it but I kinda did!
ReplyDelete@crris14 Pinkie saved the falling ballon. She's the only one there faster than Dash (when flying), and she would have known it was falling due to her Pinkie Sense.
ReplyDelete*facehoof*
ReplyDeleteAgain you put the spoiler-iffic image above the page-break Seth. Don't do that.
I don't mind the synopsis myself, but others do.
So what, no amazingly awesome typos this time?
ReplyDeletethat sounds like one awesome episode. I do love dem dragons.
ReplyDeleteIf it was permanent, that'd be the mid-season finale to end all mid-season finales. But there's no way it will be. No way. Definitely not.
ReplyDeleteGoddamn it now I really want it to be permanent. MADNESS. It won't happen, it shouldn't happen, gack!
Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm not the Jordan that sent Seth that image. I don't have AT&T U-Verse or an HDTV.
ReplyDeleteGreedy instincts? Oooh, sounds like an episode that involves dragon hoarding. So, is hoarding related to growth? Do they need to get bigger to protect their stuff?
ReplyDeleteAll so interesting!
HOH MAH GOWD YES!
ReplyDeleteSounds great!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the larger Spike will be more cartoony or like the other adult dragons we've seen.
I hope this turns out better than Spike's episode in season 1
ReplyDeletewait wait wait.... 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8...10? whats the synopsis on 9? I don't remember 9.
ReplyDeleteHelp a brony out here.
@Lawrence Gander
ReplyDeleteI believe 9 involves Rarity again. This time it's a choice between staying home with friends or living a financially better life.
We need....the Dovahkiin!
ReplyDeleteI think this episode will be interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis synopsis is a lot more interesting than the one we got before. It'll be interesting to see a Spike episode that isn't actually about a Mary Sue owl.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a village, anypony? only... more violent?
ReplyDeleteThis sounds an awful lot like an idea for a short joke comic I've had in mind for quite a while but never got around to making. Being his birthday was even part of the joke. Strange.
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm excited to see what Spike will look like growing up. I hope he doesn't at any point look like how he did in Cutie Mark Chronicles where filly-Twilight accidentally zapped his baby-self to being super-huge and unrealistically proportioned (to be fair though, that probably was the point, to show that Twilight's first use of powerful magic was chaotic.) But hopefully he won't look like that ever in this episode. D:
ReplyDeleteWhatever happens, Spike better turn back into his baby/toddler/kid form before the episode is over.
ReplyDeleteUnless, of course, they can pull it off really well.
This sounds like a pretty awesome episode, even more looking forward to it now!
ReplyDeleteI bet they will have a Jurassic Park or Godzilla reference. As for the actual growth spurt, Status Quo will probably rear it's ugly head and the reset button will be hit once again.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I hope we get to see him as big as he was in Twilight's backstory flashback.
ReplyDeleteDoes the show rock the status quo? Yes and no, in that only on certain occasions, the biggest one being that all the mane 6 get to write their own friendship reports.
ReplyDeleteI do think that if Spike remained as a large dragon, so many things will change: Will he remain as Twilight's assistant? Can he still send messages to Celestia? Will he be able to live in Ponyville anymore? Will episode 10 be our first taste of a 'HEAVY' episode? As in, filled with drama and tears!?
Change can be good for this show, but the writers will certainly have to be careful about it, particularly to a character so deeply entwined with the main character of the show.
The fic 'It Takes a Village' and all the Twilight-Spike fanart has shown us the kinds of challenges Spike and Twilight will have to go through when Spike grows up, but ultimately we must differentiate canon and fanon so as to not spoil ourselves when watching episode 10.
From the synopsis alone, this is definitely one of the most anticipated and important episodes for all of us to watch with bated breaths.
Lots of expectiations.
ReplyDeleteWoo, Spike.
Oh man now I remember that sad mini comic about Twilight and Spike "what will you do when Spike grows too much he won't be able to live at the library" ;n;
ReplyDeleteCrazy theory number one: Spike finds the green dragon who was mean to him and proceeds to bitch slap him. >.> Or not.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an episode where Spike tries to save himself and fails, not realizing the episode was trying to set up the solution in plain sight.
hum.....the resolution might be relaled with share and to not be greedy.
ReplyDeletealso, this episobe will be the best of this season( yep i am fan of dragons XD
I'm still waiting for it to be a "scrooge"-esque story and for Spike to wake up from a dream.
ReplyDeleteFurther insight to the biology of MLP dragons! So the supposed "growth spurt" isn't really about growing or changing in size, it's more about the releasing of dragon hormones!
ReplyDelete...Or maybe it's both? Either way, it's interesting and it makes sense, looking at the previous two dragons in the series and their treasure troves.
Personally, I hope for a heart-felt moment between him and Twilight.
Spikezilla? Spikefield?
ReplyDeleteOh oh! I think we need a dragonrend shout here!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I shouldn't be this excited about an episode to a kids show, but I totally am.
ReplyDeleteBut I really shouldn't be.
"Greedy dragon instincts"?
ReplyDeleteThis show is VERY racist to dragons >:C
From what I understand though, it seems that Spike is going to solve the problem himself, or at least not rely entirely on Twilight to do it for him as evidenced by "so HE must find a way to stop growing and save the inhabitants of the city." Independent Spike is best Spike, and will most likely leave him stronger emotionally, even if he isn't still grown up after that.
Thing is, "greedy dragon instincts" sounds like a greed = growth thing, so once he starts being generous he'll go back to normal. A sort of cheesy, "SHARING IS CARING, I GIVE ALL MY GIFTS AWAY" ending. They've done a good job avoiding/working with cliches in the past though, so I'm hoping it'll be okay.
Also, if there's a dragon-slayer pony introduced, I shall poop bricks. If his name is a pun on Skyrim in any way, I shall poop gold ingots.
I'm picturing Spike-Tetsuo, myself, from the description. Not that that's actually going to happen.
ReplyDeleteSo... why aren't we putting the synopsis spoiler images under the break as well? It kind of defeats the purpose to just leave the image in the open like that.
ReplyDeleteI personally read or look at the spoilers because I don't take this series that seriously, but as a kindness to those that do we should really be putting all parts of the spoiler under the break :I
@Lightning Fast
ReplyDeleteWe've only seen two dragons before, so I think it's a bit early to play the racist card.
GREEDY DRAGON INSTINCTS, ACTIVATE!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeen waiting for more Spike clopfic. Hoping this will bring more.
ReplyDeleteGonna be interesting to see what happens. I get a feeling we either get a case of "Status quo is god" (look it up on TVTropes) or some character development.
ReplyDeleteWhole thing reminds me of this animated comic, tho:
"When Spike grows up"
http://youtu.be/aYzREXZAlHQ
all I can think of now is a purple godzilla
ReplyDeleteI love how everyone assume's it's gonna be him growing up instead of it being more of an homage to more classic cartoons like Tex Avery's King Sized Canary XD; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aO8CYwnZBYg
ReplyDeleteI really hope Spike grows wings
ReplyDeletei do too, without wings spike is just a lizard really :/
ReplyDeletei hope spike grows wings too
ReplyDeleteFinally they break the hell out of the 4th wall, and give Spike a growth spirt.
ReplyDelete
