    4. I might have to start reading fics again...

      VastaKustuta
    5. Already putting that picture to good use I see.

I have a lot of reading ahead of me.

    6. This shall be fun.

It will be like people trying to get their fics featured on FIM.net but on a larger scale and some talk talk thrown in

    7. wow this is going to really fill up my reading list.

    8. Just to let you know, there is a disorganized mis-misinformation campaign. If you hear that a particular author wrote a particular piece, there's a 9/10 chance they didn't. So take each story on its merits.

    9. No matter whose is better, ponychan's will most certainly win...

      VastaKustuta
    10. Westerns are something we don't get a lot of. I hope that doesn't imply anything about the quality...

    11. This will be interesting to watch.........

No matter who wins, good stuff will come as a result!!

    12. These fic contests seem so freaking ridiculous to me. I think Ponychan and FiMchan had one like this recently, and I know EqD has had MANY creative competitions in the past. It's my opinion that truly great artists don't need head-to-head competition to do their best work. It more often comes from an internal, natural drive to create great things that others will love.

To me, this is just chest-pounding and cheap fame-seeking. Kind of akin to 'American Idol'. If you are truly talented and dedicated to your craft, you'll become recognized and respected on your own merits. To participate in a silly competition to prove your talent cheapens what ability you may have.

IMHO, anyway. I just had to get that off my chest. Sorry to anyone talented involved, no offence intended. It may be just crazy ol' me, but I'd more likely read your work if posted separate of one of these competitions. I never read/view anything submitted to these things.

    13. I'm sure the other 2/3 or whatever of /co/ loves it being called a pony board. =p

    14. @Abjuron
It's creative fun and it's also like the first time EVER /co/ and ponychan have tried having some fun together instead of insulting each other.

I was about to say that.

This will definitely going to be interesting.

    16. Well, that's certainly an interesting contest. I'm glad the entries are all anonymous too. Or at least they should be. Because of course most Bronies would simply vote for Ponychan's stuff just because... yeah...

    17. Looked at several of the stories. My feeling is that the big winner is Equestria Daily. Not that the contest stories are bad, but for fanfiction I get far more fun out of time spent here.

Big Mac and Braeburn are worthwhile minor character ponies, but why people built a fanfic contest around them escapes me.

      VastaKustuta
    18. Me? Dunno why but I kinda hope /co/ wins. It's all in good fun anyway.

      VastaKustuta
    19. @WhitFox
      It was random.
Many ideas were entered in one of them random selector thingies and this was the idea it chose.
Frankly I was dumb founded, how could I write a lesbian story with two doods?

      VastaKustuta
    20. @Pacce You should have found a way!

This contest is about writing sweet fics, having fun and above all else kicking Ponychan to the curb!

      VastaKustuta
    21. Whole lotta fic to read through. It's all really good though!

      VastaKustuta
    22. I heartily endorse this event and/or product.

      VastaKustuta
    23. Big Mac/Braeburn Western? Dare I hope my dreams of a Firefly crossover will come to fruition?!

      VastaKustuta
    24. That they all went Wild West rather than cowpony in Ponyville is a bit of a shame...

And... Some really odd stuff there... From TALKATIVE Big Mac to brings-a-gun (!!!) Big Mac, to Big Mac getting punished by the law...! The latter even more of a surprise since up to that point it was very much like an actual episode.

^^^ (None of those are spoilers. Right there from the start or so vague you'd probably take a while to work out which story I meant.)

Overall it made me feel like I'd missed some extra rules in the stories, i.e. "keep the testosterone crazy high. Violence, pain, and/or a lot of differences between the sexes. DO IT."

Also; not nearly enough Broke Mac Mountain.

Okay, I'm always for more friendship and less fanwars within this fandom. That part of this is cool.

I'm just saying that competition is ALWAYS inherently there between artists (competition for recognition, for appreciation, for fame, occasionally for money). In its natural state it is just a hierarchy of success. In THIS form, it creates losers. I just don't support expression of art having a "lose" category.
