Platformers just need a few breaths of fresh air is all. Mario can't do it by himself but he's keeping things fresh. Now if only sonic could get his act together.
Platformers per se aren't dead. But the kind of platformer Rare did so well on the N64 died when they got bought by Microsoft.
Hell, I'd love to replay those games over the Wii's Virtual Console, but Microsoft won't allow it. They could be ported to the 3DS but considering what they did to Diddy Kong Racing on the DS, I'd rather not have that happen.
@Ford Sonic Colors, Sonic Unleashed(which kinda sucked), Sonic Generations, Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure, The new Sonic Cd remake that's coming out....and i know there's more, but i can't quite place my finger on them....OH, wait, i know!!!
KLONOA!!!! :D Klonoa rules!!!
although, the recent wii version was a disappointment.....they didn't keep the phantomile language like it used to be. :(

ReplyDelete@jelfes ever played banjo kazooie before?
ReplyDeleteThe era of platformers isn't over! Just mainstream ones. Look at the indie or romhacking scenes and you'll see platformers dominate.
ReplyDeleteSIMPLY MARVELOUS I would take my hat off to you three if i was wearing one.
ReplyDeleteif its banjo kazooie then why does it have crash bandicoot in the background?

ReplyDeleteBanjo Kazooie is the first vid, not the third vid.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, Banjo Kazooie is a classic. :D
The third vid is Crash Bandicoot, I believe.
ReplyDeleteI regret selling N64 to get a Game Cube now. Why must nostalgia for old games be so strong?

ReplyDelete"It's a shame the era of platformers is over."
ReplyDeleteHey, I'd like you to meet my friends: New Super Mario Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and (to a lesser extent) Smash Bros. Brawl: Subspace Emissary.
Any bronies out there who know some good recent non-Nintendo platformers care to pitch in? :D
@Ford those would probably be considered modern crossovers. They just dont feel the same as the originals.....
ReplyDeleteNeeds a Not-Fanfiction tag
ReplyDeleteMEGAMARE X3!!!
