Hahaha, I love the fact one doesn't even need to watch the video to know when Rarity must be onscreen, thanks to the baroque harpsichord that always seems to accompany her. ^.^ That's rather hilarious.
And these are fantastic; I always do love being able to explore these episodes from a different perspective, if you will. Thanks for sharing.
More BGMs! I'll take a good listen to this after taking a good nap. Once again, William Kevin Anderson should be recognized more as equally as Daniel Ingram. Both of those guys did an exceptional job of building a sensible feel of atmosphere for what the show is like. They go for many types/genres of music while making it worth the listen.
For those videos, it might be better if split them up into pieces where BGM is present - that way, instead of skimming through the video to find a nice piece of BGM; oh, and attach a fan name. :P
@WhiteDiamonds Good ear! More hidden things in the world of Equestria.
On the other hand, it's really easy to put all of this in stereo (except for Ep. 19 which has issues, at least last time I checked)....but whoever keeps doing these for some reason doesn't want to bother actually making these listenable.
@Melodia I feel rather offended that you think I don't bother. I have to manually edit out 15 to 30 lines on each episode; using the 5.1 stereo track doesn't change that, nor does it solve the problems of bleed and echo. Additionally, my computer crashed several times when I did try editing in 5.1. No. It is not really easy. Nor is the end result better (eg. removing panned vocals leaves absolutely nothing in one ear were I to do it in stereo). If you find it unlistenable, I apologize; but do not blame me for being unable to do CSI-level audio extraction.
@WhiteDiamonds All the characters are like that: Rainbow Dash has electric guitars, Applejack has banjos, and Fluttershy has...well, the opening theme to the show. And flutes and glockenspiels.
Yes, I actually have noticed that, but I wrote that comment while watching the first posted episode so that's what came to mind at the time. Personally, I think it's a fantastic little detail that adds subtle definition to each of our ponies.
Thank you dear. ^_^ And yes, I agree with your sentiments regarding William Kevin Anderson and the his contribution to the show. The man really needs more love.
@Wingbeat, you're an amazing bro and a true fan. Thank you for doing this for us.
I think it would be awesome to have .MKVs of each episode, with multiple audio tracks: BGM only, English, other official dubbed languages. I don't have near the experience to do so myself, and I don't know if you would want to, so I'm mentioning it for the community at large.

ReplyDeleteSome times is just nice to see the small details.

I must have better hearing than most, because I can hear what the vocalists are saying.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have trouble hearing the music well.
@Scary Scott I can hear them too.
ReplyDeleteGetting just the music without any vocals is really hard to do.

ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing these videos have subtitles, although I can almost recite the whole episodes by heart by now.

I've gotta be honest, Photo Finish's theme makes me want to STRUT.
