    5. Ewww, hetero shipping! Naww I don't care, Spitfire is much like Dash, can be shipped with everypony! I wonder if this'll be another story that has Soarin' going crazy for pie again. Time to read.

AHHH, WHY MUST I DERP SO?

    6. good read loved it, hope to read more from author

    7. I would read it but I need to finish that TwiDash fic from earlier.

      VastaKustuta
    8. Oh yay, i know Mixxy! He has like, 3 or 2 more fics, but they aren't here. But it's still okay!

    9. "...or at least wait ‘til it’s raining so you can stand at his door, crying in the rain!” They do realize it can't really rain in Cloudsdale, right?

    10. Whaaaaaaat?! A Spitfire ship that isn't Dashie?! Is that even allowed?!

XD All joking aside, it was nice! It was left open enough for more chapters, but wrapped up well enough to be a one-shot! If there are more chapters, Trevor is certainly going to read them!

    11. Sounds interesting. Gonna have to read this one.

    12. Speaking of apple pie, I've haven't seen a Spitfire/AJ ship as of yet.

    13. Good read, though some of the dialogue was said very awkwardly.

“Indeed,” Doc replied, turning to face the mare beside him, “would not be, were it not for Lightning here.”
      &
“Quite. So, we are now even, yes Soarin’?” Doc inquired.

The awkwardness of the text only being amplified by the poor punctuation. I'll give it a 3/5.

    15. Cute, short, sweet. Not a lot of content but anything but bad. 3/5, but good things from the writing, I predict.

    16. It's kind of odd you don't see this ship more often. I suppose everybody's too busy shipping the both of them with Dash (at the same time, even). Or with AJ, in Soarin's case.

Anyway, into the "to read" pile. Gotta finish the Sparkledash fic from last night.

    17. Cute but kinda pointless. I mean, there wasn't much to the story and it's about a pair of chars who are just few-liner backgrounds. It's not bad but...I guess it just kinda feels unnecessary, in a sense.

    19. So, what do we call this ship? I vote for Spittin'.

    20. Okay, I was reading the comments and didn't see any plot comments on the pic for a ways down... was starting to worry about you guys. ;)

    21. That was a cute little shipping fic. Not much content there, I'll concede, but it was nice for a feel good moment.

      SoarFire?

3/5. If I could 2.5 I would. There's not a lot here. I mean, it's decently written, but the characters are just... handed to us. There's no real character development going on.

Writing OCs (most BGs may as well be OCs) means you have the extra burden of establishing a character. Neither Soarin nor Spitfire have more than the barest essence of what could be called a character canonically. So to have them fall in love is mostly unmoving. Using a BG/OC pony is easier because you don't have to worry about cries of "Out of Character!". At the same time it's harder because you have to completely build the character in order to really make readers care.

When shipping the mane 6 you HAVE a fully developed character. The difficulty is, you now have to move that character from her canon personality to one where she's actually date/kiss/sleep with/marry etc the other one. This is a lot harder to do with a mane character because you MUST stay in character or people will call you on it.

I must say though, even if it had been two mane characters, there's not much more to this than "One pony likes another pony and hasn't told them. Then something happens and one pony confesses love. Other pony returns love."

While short and cute, this is what I refer to as a 'February' fic, reminiscent of the types of fics from the earlier days in the fandom. (See most AppleDash fics.) The fandom generally demands a lot more from most fics these days and

I am totally surprised by the rating here. Perhaps @Detoxicity represents a large majority of readers than I would like to think exist. You're rating a STORY not it's cover image people =/

"I am totally surprised by the rating here. Perhaps @Detoxicity represents a large majority of readers than I would like to think exist. You're rating a STORY not it's cover image people =/"

Or it could be that people think differently from you.

I liked the story, even without the character development. From all of the other fics I've read starring these two, they developed the characters for me enough to give me an idea on how these two are. Although it's not canon, it still fits in accurately with the writing going on here, and as long as they're not just two characters out of the blue, I don't really give two shits.

On the other hand, it IS one of those short stories, kind of like the ones you read in collection books? They're meant to be short, sweet, and allow the reader to interpret the characters any way they want given the short amount of context.

As for the story, I liked it, but it could be a bit longer. 4/5.

    24. It wasn't a bad read, but stories like this remind me of junk food. There's ultimately nothing there.

How would you describe the plot of this story to someone? The conflict? Character development?

It's pure escapism. People read it and enjoy it because for a few minutes they imagine it happening to them. Junk food.

      VastaKustuta
    25. Jesus christ..... 6 months ago this fic would have been 5 stars with most of the comments saying "I cried."

      Now everyone is criticizing

I was ahead of my time I tell you.

      VastaKustuta
    26. @Cold in Gardez I agree. But, that's not a bad thing. There's tons of long, quality fics out there. Taking a break for some quick cute-attack-inducing junk-fic is nice sometimes. Especially when time is a factor.

      VastaKustuta
    27. Awww, that was pretty cute if a bit short.

      VastaKustuta
    28. I like it. It really is rather cleverly done as well as very funny, with its adorable moments.
