ReplyDeleteIt's not really that hard. Mostly you have to find clips that are both appropriate in context and have the right length to match the lip movement (the variety offered by the Valve games makes things easier). If need be, I make one by just stringing pieces of sound clips together while matching inflection. I use Sony Vegas with "snap to..." enabled, so I just find the image and move frame by frame to find out where the talk animation starts or ends. Then I just put the sound clip into place.
When stringing pieces together, you can just eyeball the waveform to find where syllables start. It takes some trial and error to find word starts, but it works. If you match volume and inflection, things kinda flow together.
