Occasionally, we blogponies are gifted with free stuff. Arm bands, shot glasses, et cetera and so forth. Days when I get a package are always awesome and put a smile on my face from the moment I open my mailbox. But, it has always been my great regret that I have never had a camera to share these generous gifts with. And when this latest box came in the mail, that was still true. So I don't have a shot of the box with my name on it. And I don't have a shot of the black 'Dungeons and Dragons' bag that was inside. Or the soft paper wrapping that was inside
that. But after that I got to go shopping, and while I was out I picked up a new phone.
So, would you like to know what was gifted to me by a young author calling himself
PK? Then you will have to check below this page break. (I'll give you a hint: it is one of the greatest things ever)

It's a Lyra! |
Look at that! That is a 4 inch Lyra figurine! It turns out PK has access to a 3D printer, and with the help of a virtual model and some very talented paintwork by his friend Sirrus, he brought Lyra into the human world! And then sent her to meeeeeeeeee!
...I am not ashamed to admit I spent the next hour trotting her across the furniture making little clippity clop sound effects. I'm a big girl! =D

Side View Action! | | |

|
|
Here she is from the side, looking bright and chipper and beautiful. I'm sorry about the quality of some of these shots. I'm not exactly a professional photographer, and I don't have a lot of space to put things. I didn't want the shots to be boring, so I moved her around the shelves a bit to provide some background variety.
|
It's lovely to meet you, Pinklestia |
Here's a shot for size comparison. Excessively pink Celestia stands about a head and a half taller than fair Lyra here. She's made of very delicate material, so a larger model was impossible. I'm totally ok with this, I think she looks perfect!
|
Take the hint, ROM hackers |
I was told I should put her "on a bench". This is the best I could come up with. It's also probably the best shot of the bunch, because I figured out how to actually work the camera application. At least now you can see how good the cutie mark looks! If there is a better pony out there, I haven't seen her. Thank you, PK. I couldn't ask for a better gift. You should totally sell these things...

n64 for the win
ReplyDeleteLyra on SNES? Want.
ReplyDeletePink Celestia?
ReplyDeleteSquee! Phoe likes my painting!! I'm so happy Lyra found a good home with you. :)
ReplyDeleteLyra for the win!
ReplyDeleteToo cool.
ReplyDeleteWhat material is made of? (Or what material does it feel like?)
ReplyDeletelyra!!! it looks pretty cool
ReplyDeleteand oh goodness nice collection of videogames you have there
some very advanced hardware you have sir :P
ReplyDeleteThats awesome, I'd probably do the same actually
ReplyDelete@Vinyl Scratch
ReplyDeleteIt's made of layered plastic. She's very lightweight, and a little glossy from a coat of spray-on finish. The printer is surprisingly good with detail but it takes a lot of sanding to get smooth.
I love Lyra... When will I be able to attain my very own little pony!?
ReplyDeleteYou know, every time someone takes a picture of something with their video game collection in the shot, I always find myself paying more attention to that than the thing I'm supposed to be looking at...
ReplyDeleteThat said, PS2 RPG's spotted. I approve.
Also, Lyra looks awesome!
@Vinyl Scratch
ReplyDeleteVery brittle plastic polymer.
Just Lyra, no Bon Bon? I'm still jealous though...
ReplyDeleteNice videogame consoles
ReplyDeleteOh you're lucky, you've got one of the later-release SNES' (but still first design) that WASN'T made with the awful plastic that turns the white parts into a hideous yellow-brown color after a few years. Makes my system look horrible.. :\
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, the Lyra pony is pretty awesome.. :)
That is ADORABLE! Yay Phoe!
ReplyDeleteI love your game collection, Phoe. And I do freakin' want a pony.
ReplyDeleteShe's so adorable! And wow, you have a pretty nice gaming collections going on there! :D
ReplyDelete@Jelfes On the next Lunar Eclipse, a very small *insert favorite pony here* will appear in you bedroom closet!
ReplyDeleteYou have Wild Arms!?!
ReplyDelete/Jelly
Good game collection. The Lyra statuette is pretty neat too.
ReplyDeleteYay, unboxing post! I love these. It's almost as good as me getting something too... almost. ;)
ReplyDeleteBut yay, little Lyra. She looks good. And faintly surprised. lol But I love surprised happy Lyra. :>
We need more blog posts like this.
ReplyDeleteIt is awesome to hear the interactions/unboxing stories I keep hearing from EquestriaDaily.
Let's hope Tek will eventually have a long blog post besides the interviews he did.
You are a good blogger Phoe :P
Sirrus, huh...
ReplyDeleteWhere's Achenar got off to, I wonder?
Shut up and take my money!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, ill pay for one of those.
Disgaea, Guilty Gear, Megaman X, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Mario All Stars, Wild Arms, and what seems to be a PS3/Xbox 360 controller converter.
ReplyDeleteSir... I approve.
A very awesome gift.
ReplyDeleteAlso you have an impressive videogame collection, you even have a DBZ megadrive game.
Nice.
And then I fell in love with Phoe's game collection.
ReplyDeleteI mean... ponies, what?
Very nice video game collection you got there!
ReplyDeleteMy Wii, N64, Gamecube, and original Xbox got destroyed in a flood (this being Washington, it just rained a bunch and somehow flooded my basement). R.I.P. childhood consoles. You will be missed.
first unboxing post? more like "phoe shows everyone how awesome she is with all her videogames" post
ReplyDeleteSo many video games... And ponies... Phoe, marry me please?
ReplyDeleteOh dear... I am looking and looking and looking and not finding much of anything to disagree with in your collection. I was thinking you were pretty cool And then you just HAD to have X2 in your SNES.
ReplyDeleteYou have stolen my heart, woman. We must date as soon as possible.
Your video game collection is simply amazing! I am so very jealous!
ReplyDeleteOh, and the pony is ok I suppose... (jk, I'm jealous of the pony too. I wish I could craft stuff!)
"It is one of the greatest things ever."
ReplyDelete*scroll a bit* An N64! -Not jelly because I still have mine-
*scroll more* Oh it's Lyra. She's good too
Megaman X2 in the SNES I see! Funny, that's the only Megaman game I ever played and beat. I really enjoy it, and will play it every so often on my emulator.
ReplyDeleteMore on topic, that Lyra figure looks amazing! Makes me wish I had a 3D printer and also wonder what sort of quality things we'll be able to "print out" in say, ten years...
The painting is also really well done. Great work Sirrus, that's one well-painted little pony! Overall, very cool.
What an awesome gift to receive! Also, nice video game collection. :D
ReplyDeleteDem video games...
ReplyDeleteI think I love you now.
Seems like people care more about the amount of video games you have than the actual figure! haha
ReplyDeleteA custom made pony AND a collection of classic console games.
ReplyDelete/very Jelly
Man, we need show accurate toys SO BAD. Everyone needs to enjoy these!
ReplyDeleteI'm oh so jealous.
I'm a bit more impressed with your Gaming Setup!
ReplyDeleteA Sega Dreamcast? EPIC!
Man, Now I kinda want a Pony prancing around my Game Systems.
And I thought I had a good old-school video game collection... Phoe, you are awesome. Oh, and so is the Lyra figurine. I guess that's what this is about.
ReplyDeleteAwsome
ReplyDeleteLook at all of Phoe's nerd stuff! And I thought I couldn't love her anymore. Also, my first post after months of lurking. Woot! :D
ReplyDeleteThat night, Little Lyra was visited by a fairy.
ReplyDelete"I will grant you your fondest wish," she said, with a wave of her wand.
The next morning, Phoe awoke to a surprise. Lyra was sitting on the couch, playing her video games, and getting higher scores than she had ever gotten and beating the hardest bosses she had ever fought, without the slightest challenge.
And just as she started to question, Bonbons emerged from the kitchen with hoof-made waffles and orange juice.
And Phoe never left the house again.
Till three days later when she realized she missed two days of work and her only excuse was "I have some… unexpected company…"
ITT: disreguarding ponies
ReplyDeleteEnvy phoes game collection
Somethings wrong here...
Nice vidja gaem collection, btw.
@Silent Machina
ReplyDeleteI see what you did there!
Myst for the win!
I want a 3D printer, just for ponies.
ReplyDeleteI'll make Luna and Trixie models SO HARD.
Whoa, very impressive gaming stuff there!! Horseapples, makes my mini collection look pathetic.....
ReplyDeleteVery awesome Lyra though!!! Very very awesome! She looks much better then I do as a toy...... Ponyfeathers.......
Looks like someone has a top loading NES, and now I'm jealous.
ReplyDeleteI WANT THAT LYRA!
ReplyDelete@PK
ReplyDeleteI'm at a hackerspace with a few homebrew 3d printers that print in very durable plastic. Your template looks very good, I'd been working on morphing this one towards what you have but I'm having a rough time of it since it needs to be optimized to print without support material, which means overhangs that build shallower than 40 degrees just don't work: http://www.thingiverse.com/thingiview:41799
Is there any chance you'd share the files you used to develop and print it? That would be so awesome!
~ F7
Labels: Phoe Gawking
ReplyDeleteThat means Phoe is about to show us awesome stuff. It's my favorite label.
My 2nd favorite label is "Cereal Talking A lot", but that one is rare.
I am so Jelly now. Lyra is best pony after all.
ReplyDeleteall I got to say are a few things... Toploader NES, SNES, Genesis, Dreamcast... oh yeah! ( some of the best consoles to date! )
ReplyDeleteAnywho, I was wondering why I never see you get anything but I'm glad people happy to send you stuff as well there Phoe!
Cool Spot?
ReplyDeleteThe game starring the old 7-UP mascot?
There'd better be a copy of Gunstar Heroes on that shelf somewhere.....
N64? Top Loader NES? SNES?! Dreamcast?!! Genesis games??!!
ReplyDeleteMarry me
That's so awesomesauce! +D
ReplyDeleteBased upon this post, I can tell that you are exceedingly cool, and that we would get along very well. ;-}
Oh my. I was wondering when I would see a pony from a 3D printer. But now that I have....I want one! ...or as many as I can afford. I think I saw the dA page where he showed off the 3D model and even a prototype printing. Looks awesome with color. *Squee*
ReplyDeleteI was going to say "Marry me", but...
ReplyDeletea) It's already been said over 5 times in this post already
b) I'm horribly competitive, and will probably break a few of your controllers when I lose, causing an insta-divorce
and finally, c) I can't compete against over 9000 Phoe-fans
Wonderfully lucky you are. I would love a custom print pony like that.
ReplyDeleteALso, Epic game selection you have there n.n
Megaman X! God i love that game.
ReplyDelete@F7
ReplyDeleteIf you need models to work with, we actually made this pony with a file from this guy's gallery:
http://kp-shadowsquirrel.deviantart.com/gallery/24487513
He is an amazing artist-person and deserves huge credit because we would never have been able to make something so beautiful to print in the first place.
Oh, and the printer we used printed using support material.
I hope this was at least somewhat helpful to you.
>Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for you...
Oh yeah, Phoe. I see that copy of Sly 2 on the shelf there. Right next to the first game in the series.
ReplyDelete*epic brohoof*
@Twilight
ReplyDeleteYou can't exactly help what you get as a Christmas present. I have a very strict policy about never returning games.
Although seriously, people. I know it's a beautiful collection and I'm very proud of it, but Lyra! Lyyyyyyyyrrrraaaaaaa!
Amazing Lyra figurine chillin with your awesome game collection.
ReplyDeletePhoe, you have made the entire fandom infinitely jealous of you.
omg look at all the games! I've a very very jealous person right now :'(
ReplyDeleteHold on skippy back it up.
ReplyDeletePHOE, WHERE CAN I BUY MLP SHOTGLASSES!?!
Do want.
Phoe, due to your AMAZING Old School systems, you have Magical Trevor's FULL attention and respect! Trevor thought that one was the only pony left with the classics left! If you don't mind Trevor asking some personal questions, Do you have any of the following?
ReplyDeleteLufia: Fortress of Doom
Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals
Earthbound
Chrono Trigger
Illusion of Gaia
Classic FF II and III
These are Trevor's favourite RPG's of SNES! (Well, the ONLY ones he owns, actually.)
If you play RPGs, and have different games, would you mind telling one what they are, and which ones you think are good? Thanks!
~ Magical Trevor, Minstrel of Equestria
Super Nintendo :3 !
ReplyDeleteDouble-Hurray for classic consoles :D
...also, ROM hacker ?
What ? Does he have something against emulators ?
Phoe does know that it's literally, almost, the only way for some people to be able to enjoy (some of) those, more and more, 'rare' games ?
Anyway... Lyra is 'one' of the good ponies, yeah.
This is what all molded MLP toys should look like. The moment Hasbro does that, I'll buy them.
ReplyDeletePK, you already had me as a fan ... now you're a hero. Well done! And Sirrus, nice work on the paint!
Alternate Title: Lyra Keeps it Oldschool.
ReplyDeletePS. I saw that Guilty Gear in there. Excellent.
Holy Crap, you have PULSEMAN!? color me impressed.
ReplyDeleteThe Lyra thing is cool too.
@The GREAT and POWERFUL Trevor
ReplyDeleteIn order: yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and yes (assuming you mean the original US releases of IV and VI, otherwise... oh wait no. I have those too. Nevermind).
Other classic SNES RPGs I personally enjoy include Super Mario RPG, Soul Blazer, Terranigma (not owned; the only English version is the UK PAL cart, retailing on the secondary market for ~$150), Bahamut Lagoon (Japanese only; you'll need to mod your SNES), Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2), Secret of Evermore, Star Ocean, and in all honesty, Eye of the Beholder. That's of course assuming we're limiting our scope to the SNES. If you want to branch out, the list gets much bigger.
@Nova25
No no, I have nothing against people using emulators (although I try to avoid it for authenticity purposes). I'm trying to imply that people who modify ROMs should start putting Lyra in them.
My mouth is drooling badly, Old consoles and Ponies!
ReplyDelete@Phoe
ReplyDeleteI used to have an Eye of the Beholder port on my Gameboy Advance as a kid. That thing drove me to madness, haha! I spent so many hours wandering aimlessly around the same hallways looking for the secret switch or fake wall.
@Phoe
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Phoe, Where can a brony get them some shot glasses?
This seems like something Can use to combine my two favorite things.
Can you list your full collection of videogames? To me it is clear that you didn't reveal them all in the pictures there.
ReplyDeleteSo many congratulations on your new Lyra, Phoe. :)
ReplyDeleteobvious post being lyra is obvious.
ReplyDeleteso I moved her around the shelves a bit to provide some background variety.
yeah right we know you just wanted to show off your badass videogame collection :P
Phoe, between Lyra and the amazing video game collection, I want to have Derpy help me rob your house.
ReplyDeleteJK But, seriously guys, please do not break into the homes of any of the blog ponies for any reason.
That. is. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteAll of it, Lyra and the video games.
SWEET HE GAVE YOU AN N64-
ReplyDeleteOh wait...Nevermind.
So much want :-(
ReplyDeleteWow Phoe! I'm jelly of your vidyagaemz collection.
ReplyDeleteDude! PK! I didnt know you had access to a 3d printer! Thats awesome!
ReplyDeleteHa! Lyra is now good in my book, as anypony that gives Phoe an excuse to show off her video game collection to the internets is a good pony! I think I'll join in with the collection of video game connoisseurs, stroking my connoisseur beard whilst grinning intently at the beautiful spread of gaming goodness in front of me. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteMy personal collection is... well, its in the basement I think. Not much of a collection either, didn't have a lot of money when I grew up. Plus I tend to get hooked on single games for multiple years (Smash Bros. Melee, TF2).
Makes me a bit sad to think that game boxs, cartridges, heck even gaming systems in general are on the way out. I have to admit, I don't think I've bought a hard copy of a video game in ages. My steam list is bursting with them though, so it's not as if I've lost the love of them.
No more feeling those weighty little boxes. No more box art. No more instruction manuals, and little leaflets and things they put in there. No more trying to peel the wrap off of the damn thing with your fingernails. No more blowing on the cartridges to fix them. The weight, the feel, the texture of the things will be gone from peoples memory in a shorter time then you'd expect. We are moving into a world where you can't hold a video game in your hand anymore. It's for the best, but nostalgia still makes it hard...
Show accurate toy? Hasbro, take notes! Lol
ReplyDeleteJELLY DERPIDETY IS REALLY REALLY REALLY JELLY AND WANTS TO HAVE PHOE'S BAIBAIS....
ReplyDeletein all seriousness, that is an incredible Lyra model.
(fluttershy is already mai waifu anyways, and i'm a faithful colt)
From this post I learned that 3D printers really do work.
ReplyDeleteAnd that I am jealous of Phoe.
And that Phoe is a gamer geek.
And that Phoe is fucking awesome.
I.
ReplyDeleteAM.
SO.
JELLY.
YOU HAVE SO MANY GAMES, AND A LYRA!
I wish I could get super awesome free stuff. :<
Wow, I could say I played a lot of the games you can see in the pictures.
ReplyDeleteSonic 2, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Mario all stars, Mario Sonic at the Olympic games, Super Smash Brothers Melee, Kingdom Hearts 2, Makai Kingdom, Wild Arms ? (Not sure which one though I played most of them), Wild Arms 3 (OMG I played it so long ago but never finished and I wish I had it to do so), Viewtiful Joe, Sly Cooper and the Theivious Racoonis, Sly 2: Band of Theives, Klonoa 2: Lunatia's Viel, Disgaea ? (Not sure which one that is), Gears of War, Bioshock, Megaman X 2, Megaman X 3
So much nostalgia, so much of it. I really wish I still had most of them to replay.
As for the Lyra, I'm so jelly. I wish I had a show accurate pony to call my own. Too bad It'd probably be hard to keep it safe considering how little room I have to place it somewhere without anything bad happening to it.
3-d printers are awesome. I heard of a group of people using one to print organs on TedTalks.
ReplyDeleteretrogaming and lyra? Awesome.
ReplyDeleteI still don't know what a 3d printer is, however.
Even though I'm super jealous of your Lyra, I gotta say...
ReplyDeleteDat Video Game Collection.
Just look at it! NES, PS, 64! EVERYTHING! AND A MOTHER F**KING SEGA GENESIS! And with a pony, IT LOOKS EVEN MORE AWESOME!
Phoe, that's great and all, but two things.
ReplyDeleteI have diagnosed myself with OCD because of one thing.
I literally cannot express my thoughts about video games or photography because of one mistake here...
'etcetera' is one word.
PK?
ReplyDeleteWait, maybe he sent EARTHBOUND!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR
TAKE MAH MONE-oh ITS AN ACCURATE LYRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TAKE MY MONEH! SHUT UP, AND DON'T REGRET IT!
@P. Pony Ponyson
ReplyDeleteStrictly speaking, the term "etcetera" is in fact the two words "et cetera," which are Latin for "and so forth."
So either way works, really...
@Joey
ReplyDeleteSHOT GLASSES. Joey, EqD has a search feature in the right hand side bar, near the top. Here's the link to the unwrapping of Cereal's shot glass with an address to somepony who could etch some for you. http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/07/cereal-receives-pony-shot-glass.html
Fragile 3-d Lyra is beautiful!
ReplyDeletePhoe, you're adorable. <3 Your game collection is giving me a nostalgiagasm too.
ReplyDeleteAnd dat Lyra is very cute to boot. Now she just needs a Bon-Bon to keep her company.
Now to make one myself, of Vinyl Scratch. Where can I get a 3D printer...?
ReplyDelete@Silent Machina
ReplyDeleteI just thought the same thing! You are awesome and you just made my day XD
I like how the majority of the comments are about the game collection then the pony.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought you were talking about the N64 when you said it was the greatest thing ever.
ReplyDeleteNot taking the hint, by the way. :D
HASBRO! Give us stuff like this!
ReplyDeleteHOLY SHIT. you have a Dreamcast? ALL MY RESPECT
ReplyDeletewow Phoe, you have the best shelf evar. and I'm not just saying that because of the ponies everywhere.
ReplyDeleteBY anychance, wanna name the rom's you wanted?
ReplyDelete*hint hint*
I'm so jealous! Lyra is best background pony! 20% cooler together with Bon-Bon though. x3
ReplyDeleteAnd fun fact: You're the first girl I met other than myself that stuffed her room with consoles and games (I live in my own house now though, so is more like what I used to do, but still! SO AWESOME!).
...
ReplyDeleteGive me your Megaman X3....
They are oh so rare to find nowadays...
D=
That is a truly amazing game collection. Lyra is nice as well.
ReplyDeleteok..its time to fire up that printer and get ALL the ponys printed up CORRECTLY,,shame it wasnt a "color" 3d printer..but still......could you imagine pony "blanks"....drooooooooool
ReplyDeletePonies & video games? Approve!
ReplyDeletelucky duck i wish i had el 3d printer.....
ReplyDelete
