ReplyDeleteThe episode gaps are probably there to give the FIM production team more time to make better quality stuff. We've all heard about how the deadlines for season 2 were much tighter than for season 1, so maybe Hasbro/The Hub is loosening up a little.

That friendship strength chart is pretty interesting, I think I'd agree with almost everything that is laid out for all of them except maybe Rainbow Dash / Applejack. To me, that one just seems more like a friendly / tense (light blue/black lines) relationship than a strong one (red line).

Even though they don't interact to much on the show beyond Rainbow Dash teasing Fluttershy, they have been shown hanging out together and Rainbow Dash does seem to truly value Fluttershy's opinion of her and Fluttershy's development as a pony (and is always quick and willing to defend her from any real hurt), and Fluttershy places value on Dash's hopes and dreams arguably even more so than Rarity's. Plus, they've easily known each other for much longer than any other two ponies in the mane cast.
Yeah, the lines drawn between Fluttershy and Dash should be green, black, and RED, not green, black, and blue.

More My Little Investigations updates. :D Ooh, adding a partner. Interesting. That and hidden evidence could make the game more challenging and longer overall. I'm really stoked for this game. And to quote Applebloom: "I want it noooow!" But I can wait if it means even more fun stuff added in.

Uh, guys? I know that using a calender is hard, but episode 3 airs on the 15th, and episode 4 airs on the 22nd, so if it airs again on the 29th and episode 5 is on November 5th (which is what's happening) that's only a one-week gap.

ReplyDeletePersonally, I'd give Twilight and Applejack a red line for a strong friendship. They rely on each other pretty consistently, from Applejack saving Twilight's life repeatedly (from falling off the cliff and from being crushed by the avalanche) to Twilight forcing Applejack to admit she needed help with the harvest, and being the first pony she goes to when reclaiming their friendships from Discord. They both can be stubborn and obsessed with their work and are generally of a serious mindset.
I'd also give Rarity and Rainbow Dash an orange line... There just hasn't been much interaction between the two outside of "Sonic Rainboom", and even there wasn't much directly between them. I can't think of much that they do to directly antagonize each other enough to give them a black line only.
Ah! Not another hiatus! Oh Well I'll just go through another run of the 30 episodes that will be available!

ReplyDeleteTo be fair, Game Informer hates pretty much EVERYTHING that isn't a Mature rated first person shooter (namely Call of Duty), you should have seen the countless times they have bashed on the Pokemon franchise (one of the reasons a lot of Pokemon fans hate Game Informer), they just cannot accept the magic of friendship like we have.

I've never liked Game Informer, it's a cheap, trashy and pathetic magazine with content that no one wants to read. Or content that no one should actually want to read. The response is pretty accurate though, it is pretty embarrassing trying to defend watching the show, even if only a few close friends know I watch it. I've just gotten to the point where my response is "I watch My Little Pony, and I don't feel the need to have to explain myself". End of discussion.

Although I stand by my previous comment, I do believe the irony is worth an internet.
As an addendum to my prior comment on the friendship chart, now that I think about it, Rarity / Rainbow Dash should probably be labeled with at least a light blue line for friendly relations as well, especially if the Sonic Rainboom episode and a couple prior events have anything to say about how these two act around each other.
ReplyDeleteRarity was the one who insisted on everyone being there to support RD after all because she knew what kind of pressure she would be under, and although she got carried away with the temporary wings, she was still trying to help RD. Not to mention the whole "saving your friend's life" would add a lot of points between these two as well.
Plus, looking back to the Swarm of the Century episode, how in Equestria could she possibly have gotten Rainbow Dash to try on things for her if there wasn't at least some kind of friendly standing between them? That's doesn't seem like something RD would just do for some random nobody or just an acquaintance.
I really disagree with a lot of the lines on that chart...It's interesting how people can see things like that differently.

@Harwick You're not alone in questioning some of the relationships in that chart. I would outright erase the black line between Pinkie and Dashie. She has only fled Pinkie twice: once out of annoyance and fear of offending her, and the second time to try and prevent Pinkie from discovering the surprise party Dashie helped set up. Way I see it, that tension is all in the past now.
ReplyDeleteI also find the Pinkie/Rarity relationship line lacking a bit of information that would suggest a friendlier relationship between the two: Rarity has been shown to genuinely enjoy Pinkie's goofiness on occasions, and the two even had the patience (or obsession) to play thirty-five consecutive games of tic-tac-toe, in spite of the fact that Rarity lost every single one. I wouldn't erase the black line here, but I would definitely consider adding a "blue" (cyan, actually) line.
Pinkie has also, on at least one occasion, gotten underneath Fluttershy's skin by calling herself "Auntie Pinkie Pie" in spite of the fact that Fluttershy is a year older. That is, however, hardly enough to justify adding a black tension line between the two.

ReplyDeleteNo, that tension line between RD and Pinkie is perfectly justified, Pinkie does annoy RD when they aren't doing things together. Look at Bridle Gossip, the first thing she said when Pinkie does her song about Zecora is "Here we go...", and then toward the end when Pinkie is back to her usual self after the herbal bath, the first thing Dash does is cover her ears.
If that wasn't enough there's at least a half dozen other instances where their interactions would indicate tension between the two, even if they are on good standing with each other.
The gaps are starting to burn. Burn from anticipation! D:

ReplyDeleteGame Informer must not have seen the video where Rainbow Dash kicks Starscream's ass and then eats his soul. That's one bad ass filly. They must equally be out of the loop about Fighting Is Magic which means they don't inform anyone of important games negating their magazines title. Oh well.

ReplyDeleteNice to see I'm not the only one who dislikes "Game Informer" magazine.
ReplyDeleteGranted, they didn't seem to bash bronies/ponies as badly as some sources have in that bit there. I'm sure they might start though, if they get more complaints from "bronies."
Still, I feel the magazine is heavily-biased in many ways. They have people who hate certain game genres review said games from said genre, (like they have a guy who hates Sonic games review Sonic games) they barely ever cover Nintendo games, (exept popular ones) and pretty much only like the latest FPS and sports games, an occasional obscure game, but overall whatever's "trendy," or "mainstream."
I remember on their "how to be a proper Sonic fan" article the first statement was you can only like the Sonic games on the Sega Genesis. Yeesh how close-minded can you get?
(Sure Sonic's had a few stinkers lately, but I still enjoy some of his games personally on other systems to. In fact, I liked most of his DreamCast & GameCube games personally.)
But what bugs me most is the people who make that magazine acting like everyone does or should have the same opinions they do. They're basically all just typical internet gametards who write it.

ReplyDeleteI knew about the existence of the game Fighting is Magic, but I had no idea that someone was making an Ace Attorney Investigations style game with ponies. I checked out the latest video and it looks great. I'm a massive fan of the Ace Attorney series as well (I haven't quite gotten around to playing the Miles Edgeworth games yet though), so I'll definitely have to keep my eye on this.
And that Fluttershy plush looks so awesome. Whoever made it did a fantastic job. If only I could afford it.
I guess I'll throw my own DAT CHART out there. I'm impressed that someone took the time to analyze these characters. I'm even more impressed that these characters CAN be analyzed like this.

I'm a huge nerd when it comes to things like personality types. I've actually tried matching the Six Mane to types on the MBTI personality spectrum, based on their behavioral patterns as seen in the show.
The best match I could find for Twilight Sparkle's personality is the INTJ type.

ReplyDeleteI never listen to a word Game Informer publishes. And I love that they admit that the show "seems entertaining", but they still hate on it. Ignorance is a powerful weapon.

ReplyDelete1) MLI: I can't wait for this to get done! I've never played Ace Attourney, but I wanna play this game!
2) Friendship Chart: As an aspiring fanfic writer, I both love and dislike this, both because of it's truth. I think I'll save it for reference, but it doesn't change the fact that Pinkie has tense relationships with everypony but Fluttershy.
3) School newspaper: I wish my school would post ponies in our school newspaper. The most recent edition of it only had one factual article.
4) GI: Sigh, I have problems with that magazine. Yes, I like that they give news about games that, though I could easily find most of it elsewhere, I'm too lazy to look up, but for one thing, they tend to give PS3 games a higher score than Xbox 360 games. Also, they are being hypocritical in that they are calling MLP "frilly" when I'm willing to bet they haven't even at through 5 minutes of an episode.
Sorry for the long comment, I just felt like voicing my opinion.
I shall adopt Luna and name her Luna
