It has also been confirmed by Geekscape that October 22nd is in fact a Halloween episode, and will be shown a second time on the 29th.
I'm way more excited about Luna than I should be... I can't wait to see her actual personality.
Also I forgot to say how FREAKIN AWESOME this banner is. The Hub is amazing.

Utah needs these.

ReplyDeleteI don't know who's in charge of making the advertisements, but whoever they are, I like them.
ReplyDeleteA Poltergeist reference for a pony billboard. Life is good.
ReplyDeleteO_O
ReplyDeleteThat...
is...
terrifying.
Poltergeist is the only horror movie that still terrifies me to this day, it traumatized me as a child >_> And now the HUB throws Pinkie Pie in there. This is so awesome <3
Also, nice touch that the buttons on the TV are the HUB's logo. Neat! I can't wait to see this one up.
If you look into her eyes she'll put you in trances . . .
ReplyDeleteThats freaking awesome.
ReplyDeleteAll you gotta do is giggle at the ghostly
ReplyDeletei REALLY hope that the fan-made personality of luna is the same as the official...
ReplyDeleteThe nubs are the Hub's logo, that's a nice detail.
ReplyDeleteThats creepy, but brilliant. I like it, now if you'll excuse me i have to go cry in this corner becuase pinkie is staring into my soul.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone concentrating on just how absolutely amazing that thing is!? Poltergeist is absolutely terrifying, and if you think about it, a lot of the target market could have picked up on the Bridesmaids/Equestria Girls/whatever references, but I think this is the first instance of directly appealing to just us.
ReplyDeleteNo six-year old boy should have watched Poltergeist, let alone a six-year-old girl.
This is pure brilliance.
ReplyDeleteAnd I laughed at the doll Spike. It just fits so well somehow.
This is so absolutely amazing! They didn't have to go the 'film no teenagers let alone kids have ever seen' route, but they did. And Poltergeist! Of all horror films, they went with that one! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteYay! Billboard with Pinkie Pie. :)
ReplyDeletelul watch how everyone is just guna start hating luna when she appears
ReplyDeletemy love for this, overwhelming! Hub y u so awesome?! OMG
ReplyDeleteIts going up on the 3rd of cotober? What a birthday present!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I wear the same expression when I'm watching pony.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one a little disappointed that after episode 4 there is going to be another week gap? Ah well, I still have to survive the two week gap between episode 2 and 3. We can spend Halloween week doing soo much fan art of all the characters in Halloween costumes, not to mention the show itself.
ReplyDeleteI hope we see Twilight Sparkle dressed up as a Vampire, a Dracula esque vampire at that. The joke is too obvious to miss. Oh, and Scootaloo dressed up as Rainbow Dash or some type of bird.
@WizardWannabe
ReplyDeletePoltergeist is a classic. I'm sure many present-day teens have seen it, and probably even a decent number of children. Up in Canada, YTV (one of our biggest children's networks) tends to air Poltergeist a few times a year, one of those times usually being Halloween night.
Kudos to the HUB for throwing us a bone. Someone apparently wants to let us know they realize who helps butter the bread, and that is awesome. :D
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean, _will_ fill my soul with cotton candy and delicious chocolate cake? She did that way back in the first few episodes I watched!
ReplyDeleteAnd while I'm a bit bummed that we'll have to wait a bit longer between episodes 4 and 5, I think it's better than having a longer wait between 3 and 4 or 2 and 3 even. And I fully understand them wanting to show a Halloween episode as close to Halloween as possible.
I'm forgetting something... oh yeah! Yay Luna!
This is the most brilliant billboard ever.
ReplyDeleteKudos to the advertisers for knowing who there target demo is.
ReplyDeleteWhat would people say Luna's fan-made personality actually is? From what I've seen (which is not a deep sampling of fan fiction, admittedly), she's usually given a "Sweet but sad" one in works done in broad strokes (comics, artwork) and a very nuanced and not-easily-defined-but-tinged-with-remorse one in fan fics.
ReplyDeleteThis is a show that definitely tends towards big, broad personalities in supporting characters. Celestia is about the only example that doesn't, but her role is as an observer so the generally "motherly" personality fits. It sounds like Luna will be actively driving the plot, so I expect her to have a personality strong enough to stand alongside the likes of Trixie, Gilda, Zecora and the like. Unless they go the full-on Eeyore route, I'm not sure that "Sad but sweet" gets you there.
At the very least, I hope they give Tabitha St. Germaine some material to cut lose with as she does with Rarity and Nightmare Moon. (Unless they've recast the role now that it's not just a few short lines? Hopefully not.)

ReplyDeleteAs for the billboard, it's a very clever image... Especially since it's mostly context that makes it spooky, and so the young fans who might happen to see it won't be traumatized by a scary ponies image... They just see Pinkie and a television.
ReplyDeleteSomeone do a vector of that.
ReplyDeleteSounds cool, I bet the cutie mark crusaders will be going trick or treating...
ReplyDeleteI love the billboard, but just can't be scared of poofy-haired Pinkie. <3
ReplyDeleteNo matter how Luna turns out I will always love her. Okay, that was a bit too saccharine. Anyway, sweet billboard. I'm glad to see The Hub continue this type of advertising.
ReplyDelete"she will slowly fill your soul with cotton candy and delicious chocolate cake"...
ReplyDeleteWhyboner.jpg
Amidst all this take of awesome billboards and Luna's canon personality, we've forgotten another pony who might not particularly enjoy these proceedings.
ReplyDeleteWhat about poor Flutterhy? I honestly can't wait to see how they portray her in the halloween episode :P
Oh god. Those eyes.
ReplyDeleteWait, shown again on the 29th? There's not gonna be a another week break is there?
ReplyDeleteA Halloween themed MLP episode on my birthday?
ReplyDeleteThank you HUB!
Well, the repeat could be in addition to a new episode, but who knows?
ReplyDeleteI wish the HUB were in Canada... ****ing Treehouse really isn't all that great. For one, they censored Party of One because of the word "Loser." Also, they still aren't showing Season 2 for another 2 weeks at least. I'd honestly much rather watch ponies on TV than just off Youtube. Why can't Season 1 on DVD come out sooner? ;_;
ReplyDeleteAlso, I want the HUB in Canada because of that billboard. I'd love to see that while driving. XD
ReplyDeleteOnce again, the Hub's advertising department proves itself to be the most fucking awesome advertising department on Earth.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so excited for this. I have been hoping for themed episodes (like Halloween or christmas or others like that) since the end of season 1, and it is really awesome how they are actually doing them!
ReplyDeleteSo.....
ReplyDeleteDoes this confirm that Equestria has photo realistic television? >:3
Also stare into Pinkie Pies eyes and embrace eternity!
It's too bad there's a trend of episode gaps starting... but with Halloween Luna, all is forgiven.
ReplyDeleteWhen I opened this page, there was a Bridesmaids advertisement to the right of the page, which was the same movie advertisement that was parodied before.
ReplyDeleteCoincidence?
Omg, this is gonna be awesome! Can't wait! :D
ReplyDeleteHow do you guys feel MLP dubbed in arabic...
ReplyDeleteA halloween episode... I saw that coming, but i still can't wait :)
ReplyDeleteFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF I wish there were MLP banners over here, that would make this place at least 20% cooler
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the reason for the 4/5 gap is for the Halloween episode to be played FOR Halloween.
ReplyDeleteAt least it's not for lack of production. : D
*stares into the eyes of Pinkie Pie*
ReplyDeleteYes Pinkie, I do think the world would be better with chocolate rain.
Yes Pinkie, I do think we should replace the world's lakes with pudding.
Yes Pinkie, we should use fire on the non believers...
I want to believe now that evenever I look at a flickering TV screen I can hear Pinkie Pie and the other ponies whispering bizarre things to me and asking me to come to Equestria.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably being unrealistically positive about the "October 22nd and 29th" bit, but:
ReplyDeleteA) The original language in the article says, "October 22nd and the 29th catch the Halloween special." This COULD mean it's another two-part episode, which would explain why they seem to be airing Episode 4 a week too early for Halloween!
B) Even if it's not a two-part episode, they could be airing a new episode in the regular time slot and then a re-run of the Halloween episode later in the day in a specially planned Halloween Block of shows through the weekend.
Again, like I said, I'm probably just being overly hopeful, but... maybe?
So, I know that it's not the most legit thing, but shouldn't staring into her eyes for too long fill you with cupcakes (and yes, I mean THOSE cupcakes)? I IS a Halloween episode with a banner that parodies a horror film... and that's about as "horror" as ponies go.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit thats awesome, I love Halloween! As gir would say, I love this show.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the people who are sad that there are gaps in between the episodes. You gotta remember what Sibsy said, that they are still working on season two.
I love this! I'm really into horror films, this is perfect! Particularly, considering the jokes about Pinkie Pie being able to break the 4th wall among fans.
ReplyDelete@VioletYoshi. Pinkie Pie doesn't break the 4the wall. She nukes it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
ReplyDeleteYeah i don't think the age group of 5 year olds will get that at all. Guess they're thinking more about us every day!
ReplyDelete1. i hope that is on a billbard by me.
ReplyDelete2. yes! luna!
Personally I think Pinkamena would be a better fit for the image :P
ReplyDeleteAlso yay for Wooonnna, boo for not getting Hub over here D:
To the Internet!
LUNA!!
ReplyDeleteI am excite.
I have a bad feeling several people are going to be disappoint with canon Luna.
ReplyDeleteRelease episode 1 week before Halloween, leaking information early. they seem to giving us good time between the episode and Halloween, why could that be.
ReplyDeleteWhat will you be wearing at Halloween?
Marketing genius... I am in awe.
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha.
ReplyDeleteEven the Powers That Be know which pony is best suited for horror.
I love that billboard. So much.
ReplyDelete@Killsteal_Wolf
ReplyDeletepossibly...oh, i don't know....a chicken?
I am not creepy,
ReplyDeletejust look into my eyes.
You'll find nothing dreary,
just a big surprise.
Z-Z-Z-Z-Zombie Ponies?! Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes!
ReplyDeleteThat billboard captures everything that is Halloween and October with a FiM twist. I love it, I freakin love it so much!
ReplyDeleteHmm.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they even HAVE TVs in Equestria. XD
Haha, that poltergeist reference is obviously just for the adults! I dont know who in the intended audience would get that. 'bout the Halloween episode, I'm very happy to hear is real.
ReplyDeleteMarketing FTW! Finally, a group that has a great product, and knows it, and is willing to make advertisements that don't make you want to rip out your hair or otherwise damage yourself due to their sheer stupidity.
ReplyDeleteIn other words, this is just too awesome! XD
The same episode? Twice?
ReplyDeleteSorry Luna, but Celestia beat you to that gag, AND she didn't leak the info beforehand.
bout time she gets an episode!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so great. I have no words.
ReplyDeleteIs this billboard showing up just in LA like before?
ReplyDeleteA Halloween episode? That’s going to be interesting. They can’t make it too scary unless they want to give small children nightmares for the next week. Future more there seems to be strict rules about the stuff you can show in a children show. Egghead was almost a no-go, so I doubt t we’re going to see any real ghosts.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that a few ponies (perhaps the CMCs) get a bit too much into scary stories, until they believe that there’s a ghost/ headless horse/ Nightmare moon outside of their Tree house, while in reality it’s just the wind/ Twilight/ Luna.
Not that it’s a bad thing. I’m sure it will be a funny episode if you don’t except a Treehouse of Horror. And there’s Luna. An episode with Luna can’t be bad, right?
Fans give Pinkie Pie a psychotic personality who kills her friends and turns them into cupcakes, and that is ok. Despite Pinkie only going crazy in 1 out of 26 episodes of season 1.
ReplyDeleteFans give Luna a sweet, and somewhat sad, personality and everyone rages. Despite only being on screen for 1 episode with only 10 words of dialog.
I don't get it
Brilliant billboard. Can't wait for the episode.
Technically, it's only a reference to the Poltergeist 2 movie trailer.
ReplyDeleteIn Pinkie's own words: "SpoOoOoOoky"
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why this particular timing? Why would they show a Halloween episode one week before? Well, there I have my answer: Double dose of spook. This totally doesn't seem like Hub buying time for DHX!
>_>
<_<
>_>
Not that I'm complaining. This means DOUBLE LOOOOONAAAAAAA~!!!!!!!!! <3
@Yonasomun The stricter regulations regarding stuff like "egghead" were because Season 1 was mostly produced under EI (educational and informative) standards. The EI tag was gone in both S2 premiere episodes, so I'd assume they aren't unde that anymore - thereby giving themselves a little more freedom with their tone and content.
ReplyDeleteOMG, that is the greatest billboard ever. And yay, Halloween + Luna = AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAnother gap after airing two more episodes
ReplyDeletewhatthehellman.png
lol, that's freaking brilliant!
ReplyDeleteWish they'd just show it on the 29th and put another new episode for the 22nd, but oh well
ReplyDeleteThat billboard is awesome!
that banner goes to my sigpic =D
ReplyDelete@Killsteal_Wolf A certain favorite poultry animal best served fried? :3
ReplyDeleteI may be denying common sense when I say this, but I hope this isn't the "scary" episode we heard about before. It's probably just me, but a "scary" Halloween-themed episode just sounds like it could be quite hokey. -_-
ReplyDeleteThen again, if anyone can confound my expectations it's this team. :)
They're HEEEEEEEEEEEERE!
ReplyDeletefirst rumour about luna being in ep. 4 now a poltergeist billboard for Halloween...
ReplyDeleteIt's just one good thing after another
Halloween episode?
ReplyDeleteCreepy pinkie pie?
I'm having creepy thoughts.
Pinkie Diane...
ReplyDeletePinkie Diane...
Come towards the light, Pinkie Diane...
@JC
ReplyDeleteCan't say I agree with you there. Halloween is the traditional time for all things spooky. I say bring it on!
And that banner is BA.
o_O
ReplyDeleteAll my bits Hub marketing department! FLIPPING HUB gets it right!
I would love to see Luna as a sort of mischievous trickster. But who isn't like Discord who does it just for the sake of it, like she does it just for an occasional laugh or two.
ReplyDeleteI must be the only one that doesn't have any expectations on what Luna will be like. She is what she is.
ReplyDeleteEither way, Halloween is my favorite holiday. This will be awesome.
@Evine
ReplyDeleteI will be The Dread Pirate Half-Beard.
For the love of Celestia, WHY IS SHE SO ADORABLE???
ReplyDeleteIndeed. It is one very awesome banner, just as the last was. Plus Poltergeist is an awesome movie too. The older ones anyway. ;) And I love the little Spike doll.
ReplyDeleteThey're baaaaack~ :D
At this point, I'm convinced that Hasbro/The Hub is advertising strictly for bronies and anyone else that isn't in the target demographic.
ReplyDeleteI heard the original cast for poltergeist died in strange ways....
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if this is true.. They'll probably do a ton of references for the Halloween episode. Just hope they do a "Shining" reference. Life will be good.
Here's Pinkie!!!! >:D
That expression of hers is overwhelmingly cute. It's subtly creepy and very adorable. I just can't get over it.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, that is an awesome banner.
ReplyDeleteonly one thing I can say....YES!!
ReplyDeleteYou thought Pinkie was creepy? Look at the Spike doll.
ReplyDeleteAnypony else expect the episode to be a "Treehouse of Horror" style one? Clip for ponies that don't know what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yGJGTjV2WE
ReplyDeleteClearly shows that the people working on this really love what they do and care about their product. Outstanding. You don't see that too often nowdays.
ReplyDelete@PaladinDrakkenwolf
ReplyDeleteGranny Pie? Is that you?
@Jay6
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I think Treehouse basically censored the entire two part season premier, actually. I mean, Loser was said more than oce in that episode, and flutterbitch's antics with that bucket would probably be seen as too violent for that channel... We should just get a better channel to host the show, I mean, Treehouse is a children's channel, the Hub is a general Audience Channel, so why not host MLP on YTV or Discovery Kids Canada? Lot more wiggle room and acceptance there. All Treehouse ever shows are baby shows like Yo Gabba Gabba and Snoopy and Bino....
Wait!!! The same episode twice... again?
ReplyDeleteInteresting this here be an idea for a fic I can see
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool billboard. Too bad that's never gonna show up where I live due to too low a population.
ReplyDeleteAlso, hooray for confirming Luna, and such.
That billboard is one of the best things I've ever seen. The creative team behind this series truly sits in the highest tiers of fabulousness.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I really hope this episode is dedicated to Luna.
ReplyDeleteI love that billboard, but if the ghosts "pulled a Cariol Anne" and dragged Pinkie into the spirit world, they'd probably throw her back out ten minutes later with a note reading, "We give up."
ReplyDelete@Ardashir
ReplyDeleteOh, they never dragged me. I went willingly. They're the ones that had to be dragged.
@Pinkie Pie And in my mind's eye I can actually see you doing your little happy bounce through the closet door o' doom from that movie, too.
ReplyDelete@JC
ReplyDeleteOh I'm all for Hokey Funny because no doubt it will be funny to watch. That, and I'm not wanting what I would like to call "Disney Scary". You know, stuff like Monstro, The Horned King and Chernabog which are terrifying animated monsters that will have kids hiding under their pillow and giving us traumas in the future.
Also, on the Treehouse type. I mean more in the style of like The Raven special.
WHY WUB DA HUB /)^3^(\
ReplyDeleteI hope Sith Lord Luna becomes a reality. :3
It looks like she's got past the fourth wall and now she's waiting for the new episode to get back in.
ReplyDelete20% scarier:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.furaffinity.net/view/6600427
@Synyk
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I imagined that in my head. It was glorious!
I cannot wait to see what the Halloween episode entails!
Love that banner! Love that Luna!
ReplyDelete@Aha McLovin
ReplyDeleteSend that badboy into the Hub's advertising department! See if they'll consider using it on the channel during the halloween specials
Somepony find the person making these billboards. I want to give them all my money.
ReplyDeleteIS THIS IN NEW YORK CITY???? MUST PONY SHRUG WITH THIS BILLBOARD.
ReplyDelete8D Silent Ponyville!!!!
ReplyDeleteJoke aside, I can wait for the Halloween Special , or at least the third episode...X3
Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteAwesome billboard?
ReplyDeleteHalloween episode?
Luna's fanbase FINALLY shutting up about getting Luna?
All is good
♫♥ ♥♪
ReplyDeleteYESSS I KNEW IT!!! NATE, PREPARE FOR THE BEST HALLOWEEN EVA!!!
ReplyDeleteShe has no neck. I'm shocked that this is official artwork. Shameful.
ReplyDeleteHmmm btw, has anypony thought up a ponisized name for Halloween yet? ....oh yeah and AppleJack-o-lanterns
ReplyDeleteI am not going to get hyped up over this.
ReplyDeleteI find not letting myself get too excited makes the episode approximately 500% better.
I'm confident there's enough brony content to last me until the 15th, and there are advances literally every day towards better brony content.
Spoiler lockdown time?
Spoiler lockdown time.
>I'm way more excited about Luna than I should be... I can't wait to see her actual personality.
ReplyDelete-----
Dear gods ...! I seriously hope they DON'T mess up with her personality.
That's the kind of thing that could (would probably) make a lot of fans angry...
Personally, I mostly have some hopes for a somewhat slightly/mildly prankster-like personality.
And, well, considering that it will be an Halloween Episode... Luna being the 'Princess of the Night', and while thinking of the legendary expression ''Trick or treat'' of Halloween...
Me think we are in for a good deal of sugar and scary-funny pranks. ;)
@Nova25
ReplyDeleteLuna has no canon personality to "mess up". It's all created by the fans. If there's anyone who messed up, it would be the fanon. :)
Me? I have no expectations on what Luna will be like. I'm just happy that she's being shown at all. I am hopeful that however they depict Luna, it will be funny and awesome fun. :)
I really love and respect the heck outta the Hub for creating a banner like that, and Hasbro for okaying it. That and "Bridlemaids" are two of the most brilliant marketing images I have ever seen for any show. MLP:FiM is certainly being handled well by its creators and sponsors, and as a fan I really appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteIf I may digress, the other day someone I work with asked me what a "brony" is. I gave him a Homer Simpsonish response: "Well, it's not quite a bro and it's not quite a pony, but man (laughs heartily). So to answer your question, I don't know." :P ;)
Also, I like Pinkie's little Spike doll...
ReplyDeleteAs for Luna, I'm glad to see that (according to spoilers) the show's writers are apparently keeping her anxious and vulnerable about her past as Nightmare Moon, instead of just sweeping it under the rug and pretending it never happened, as would no doubt occur on lesser shows. That will continue to make her an intriguing character, instead of a lesser Celestia. I can't wait to see what kind of personality Luna will display, and how the other ponies react to her. Should be VERY interesting...
ReplyDelete@LordLolTastic
ReplyDeleteHeehee, that's silly! Of course fans won't shut up about Luna.
That's like like anyone saying, "WELP, that's enough of [Insert Favorite Pony Here]! I certainly don't need to see any more episodes involving [Said Favorite Pony] anymore, nope!" *scrunchy face and shifty eyes*
Don't go into the TV, Pinkie! We looove yooou!
ReplyDelete@Heartmend
ReplyDelete>Luna has no canon personality to "mess up". It's all created by the fans. If there's anyone who messed up, it would be the fanon.
-Huh... Yes, her personality can be messed up.
Just think of what would happen if they decided to give her a personality simillar to Prince Blueblood or Diamond Tiara ?
The apocalypse, that's what.
Yay, Halloween episode! :D It's gonna be awesome.
ReplyDeleteIs "Poltergeist" still a well known movie? I'm not really sure, so I don't know how well today's kids will recognize the reference. I bet then that the ad makers were targeting Bronies as much as kids, since most Bronies would've been little kids when "Poltergeist" came out. (Great horror movie, BTW) I just noticed the Hub shaped dials. Gee, people haven't made a TV that looked like that in decades.
ReplyDeleteHmm.
"Dear Princess Celestia. We know your secret now! You only moved the tombstones! You built Ponyville over the old cemetary, but you only moved the tombstones!"
@Toonicorn
ReplyDeleteGee, I hope it's JUST a doll...
Anyone seen Spike around lately?..
This is just full of so much awesome, Hub/Hasbro take all my love cause you deserve it. It would be nice if this was in a bigger res so that I may print it out big and mount it to my wall.
ReplyDeleteHmm... Oct 3 and there's no new pony billboard, at least not in the usual space.
ReplyDelete
