I admit, I'm not usually big on rap. Every once in a while one pops up that is just straight up awesome though. I showed it to a few people, and they all demand that this has it's own post, so here you go! Check it out after the break.

Tomb Rap, eh? Sounds weird but I'll check it out..
ReplyDeleteMic is happy.
ReplyDeleteHmm not bad, like Seth I tend to stay away from rap but this is good.
ReplyDeleteMic puts out nothing but top quality content.
ReplyDeleteEeeyup, gonna' have to agree with Seth here. Not a big fan of rap but I admit, I enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteAm I really listening to rap with a dubstep backbeat?
ReplyDeleteWhat has this world come to
haha! Mic is pretty damn good. its good to see him up on EqD!
ReplyDeleteThis is the best thing.
ReplyDeleteGo Mic!
ReplyDeleteO_O Holy jesus.... I think my heart just skipped a beat.
ReplyDeleteWow, this was actually really cool, yet again, only because of the sound of that modified voice.
ReplyDeleteI love this insane influx of attention Carrot Top's been getting.
ReplyDeleteTombstone: Congrets Mic :) you deserve your own post!
ReplyDeleteHmm... me=not a rap fan
ReplyDeletealso me = pleasently surprised
@Dachimotsu
ReplyDeleteWoodenToaster is currently sat back in his chair, arms behind his head and saying "My job here is done."
This song = auto-tuning done right
ReplyDeleteYeah Mic and Tombstone! All my love!
ReplyDeleteFUCK
ReplyDeleteYES
This is just per awesomeness. Awesome flow and awesome music!
ReplyDelete@LcplBronyUSMC
ReplyDeleteNone of that was autotuned. That was vocal layering. I recorded each track twice to give off that effect.
I don't like how people automatically associate rap with idiot rappers like Lil' Wayne. Rap in itself isn't always bad, just those idiot rappers. Not all rappers are about "Pussy, Money Weed." It just kinda makes me mad how you say rap and everyone is instantly like "NO!"
ReplyDeleteI guess you could say this genre has a bad...
...rap.
YYEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
@Lord Bloomberg
ReplyDeletePrecision designated pun was a great pun.
Nuff' said.
This turned me into a pony with a huge, masculine beard.
ReplyDeleteRock on!
@Lord Bloomberg
ReplyDeleteI like you. Would you like to join me in my chambers? This is not a question.
As soon as I heard that WIP I knew it was going to go platinum, so to speak.
ReplyDeleteWoot! Mic finally getting some recognition for his talent!
ReplyDeleteMic getting on EQD?
ReplyDeleteNot surprised. Shit was ill yo.
Awesome, awesome, awesome.
ReplyDeleteThree words that describe cake.
Huh? Cake? I meant Mic The Microphone.
WoodenToaster found this and loved it, and now he seems to be collaborating with Mic
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVL0uMPsRA4
This is going to be the best collaboration in the history of ever.
Mic is always awesome. Can't wait for Lulzy to throw in his verse.
ReplyDeleteThat was cool, made me think of Eminem for some reason.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm weird like that.
That was awesome. That's all I can say.
ReplyDeleteI'm not big on rap myself either, but this is another one of those stellar and above average pony raps like Pony Swag was. Really good job on it. Lyrics are good, timing is good and it flows well.
ReplyDelete@Octavia
ReplyDeleteHave I redeemed myself from Fashionably Evil? :D Your comment on that track was one of the ones that kept me striving to get better. You said my vocals were flat and lacking. That's why I pushed myself on this one.
i usually despise rap with the heat of a thousand suns but this is AWESOME
ReplyDeleteI haven't listened to any rap in so long, but my god this was fantastic. Man I dunno how to even express how much I like this. Fan-freaking-tastic.
ReplyDeleteA++ would do business with again!
ReplyDelete@Mic The Microphone
ReplyDeleteGratz, Mic, nicely done. I might have to inquire a few things from you in the future...
@David
ReplyDeleteDO IT FILLY
Nice job hun^^
ReplyDelete@Mic The Microphone
ReplyDeleteI bet you only like him because he hates Lil Wayne! :O
Anyways this definitely deserves its own post. This is 5-star grade A killer shit.
@Mic The Microphone
ReplyDeleteOk. I do a podcast where we interview people who do online content. Interested for some time in November? Email me at [email protected] if you're up for it.
Well, this is the perfect thing to inspire me.
ReplyDeleteWell, thank god I have a mic and an amazing voice.
@FlyingNinjaBannanasWell, better than most.
ReplyDeleteI give this the Epic Seal of Awesome which I just made up. I love how we never stop
ReplyDeleteMic The Microphone, damn dude, first herd ya in the megamix, instant fan right there, man, you the coolest
ReplyDeleteyour comparable (maybe even better) to mc chris, MC Lars and STD, my all time faves, drop an album man
I heard the entire thing last night during his livestream, and I couldn't wait until he released it today. It is amazing, and it just sounds awesome. I love it.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love seeing youtube videos not crediting you for your images?
ReplyDeleteWow this awesome a collaboration of 3 of the best pony music people, this is just freaking epic
ReplyDeleteIt saddens me to see so many people hating on rap in general, even if they do acknowledge Mic's awesomeness. If you "generally stay away from rap" or even claim to "hate it with a passion"... chill out and listen to something you wouldn't normally hear on the radio, e.g. old school or alternative hip hop. As someone who once limited myself to rock and metal (which I still love, by the way), opening up to hip hop has made me a chiller person and more able to connect with others.
ReplyDelete[/rant]
Sorry about that, it just bugs me how rap seems to get a disproportional amount of hate in nerd circles.
Whoa....
ReplyDeleteThat was very good. Really, I've go nothing. Was the most surprising thing I've heard here so far. Surprisingly excellent, well done Mic!
Mic this is epic , I only discovered you 3 days ago(I'm deafwease99 btw) and i am so glad i did , your amazing rap , your dramatic readings , your other musical things, just keep on proving how epic you are , if you are not a proffesional rapper/ voice artist in at least a years time or whatever , then something has gone terribly wrong
ReplyDelete@DmitriFB
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love seeing people forget that youtube videos can have their descriptions edited?
If you want credit stop wasting time posting rhetorical questions and just ask Mic. If you have the proof it's your vector he will probably be more than happy to give you credit.
I admit, I like rap, but I wasn't expecting much. This blew my mind and made my night.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
someone needs to turn the beat down a little, it gets tricky at parts to try to listen to Lulz over those electronics
ReplyDelete@Smoigus
ReplyDeleteLulz isn't on that track. o_0 That's all me.
@Smoigus
ReplyDeleteo.O Lol, I'm not on this version of the track, it's 100% Mic The Mic
CarrotTop is pretty flippin' awesome... and am not just sayin that cuz of this video, she really is
ReplyDeleteI love this song. It actually made me feel a bit sad because I feel like I can relate to this story of Carrot Top and what Mic posted in regards to its creation. Its a very interesting song, and I love the style. And now I have to go sit and think about my life.
ReplyDeleteFinal Score, 9/10
ReplyDeleteBonus points, +2 for PONIES
This sh*t just got 20% cooler
"...but our's goes to eleven..."
Kurt approved. R.I.P.
Mic, you are the embodiment of the word: epic.
ReplyDeleteWish I would have stumbled onto your youtube account a while ago but I won't ever regret doing so.
5 stars from me buddy.
Being a very musical person, I'm into pretty much every genre of music. Granted rap isn't my favorite, due to many obvious and played out stereotypes, but there are some selections that demand a bit of respect. This really is one that stands out from the crowd a bit. And not just because of the involvement of ponies.
ReplyDeleteIt's very enjoyable, and I can't wait to see more from Mic, Tomb, and yes, even WT. Granted his role was the initial start and not the outcome, he obviously has the power to inspire people with his own great pieces. Keep up the great work guys.
I like it, Mic. Let me know when you and Lulz are ready to do another Megamix, will ya?
ReplyDeleteIve been a huge nerdcore fan for years.. Where has this PonyCore been all my life :U
ReplyDeleteWait, wut?
ReplyDeleteTomb Rape?
Sounds... kinky
*Flies Away*
HNNNNNG?
ReplyDeleteHNNNNNG.
HOLY SHIT. FEATURED ON NONELIKEJOSHUA'S FACEBOOK
ReplyDeletehttp://www.facebook.com/nonelikejoshua
I am loving all this love for my favorite pony lately... Carrot Top forever~ <3
ReplyDeleteI can jam to this :D. I'm seriously impressed by this fandom.
ReplyDeleteEff man... This is the dopest of all rhymes. Everything about this rap is perfect. Is this based on any fanfic? Cause if it is i need to read it. I MUST!
ReplyDelete#45 Most Favorited in the world today... Holy jesus...
ReplyDeleteIts a Living Tombstone + Mic the Microphone collabo
ReplyDeleteOF COURSE this shit is dope.
@David
ReplyDeleteHere's a backstory:
The story is... Odd. It's a sick, twisted little creation thought up in my head. I'll paraphrase the lot of it:
Desolate land expands out all around a small village. Not even Unicorn magic can bring life to this dead, empty space. Yet amongst all the dreary scenery live a simple mare with a gift: A gift to give life to the ground around her. Renowned and hated for her gift, she is cast out by many and said to be a witch of sorts.
One day the citizens of this village do what they believe is the right thing: They try and kill the witch. They believed they succeeded until the following day. Carrot Top returned, unscathed and just as serene as ever. Despite their actions, she held no ill will toward the villagers. It was then that the villagers had realized that they had misjudged her.
6 months pass and the story of Carrot Top spreads far and wide. Jealous and enraged by her gift, ponies from far and wide congregate to rid the world of this "otherwordly" creature once and for all. However, the villagers step in to protect her, no matter what the cost. Before the conflicts escalates, Carrot Top steps in and offers herself to the enraged ponies.
She is then tied up and burned alive inside her house. Even as her light fades, the welfare of the villagers; her friends, remains her top concern. As the smoke clears, all that is left of Carrot Top and her house is ash and smoldering wood. However, amidst this dark, depressing scene, a small garden flourishes almost instantaneously. Though she is gone, she left her friends a reminder: She will always be there for them.
Or something to that effect.
@Mic the Microphone
ReplyDeleteA very interesting story, It would be really cool to see that fleshed out. Definitely a tearjerker of a story. Bravo!
@Lord Bloomberg
ReplyDeleteYeah, see, when Wayne isn't auto-tune singing and/or high out of his mind, he can be a beast on the mic. Gucci Mane. Waka Flocka. Plies. Lil B. These are a few of the consistently non-lyrical, substance free assholes who flow off-beat and think rhyming "nigga" with "nigga" while repeating their name for 16 bars like a Pokemon is good songcrafting.
"Pussy Money Weed". Heh. Last time I checked, 70% of all recorded music is about "Pussy" in one way or another. Money? You'd think about money alot too if you grew up broke as fuck in these ghetto housing projects that make The Everfree Forest look safe. Weed? What's wrong with weed? :p It was that promethazine sizzurp shit that had Wayne acting braindead before he went to prison.
Rap is what it is, like Metal. I mean, even the socially conscious and wildly unique underground rappers aren't rhyming about sunshine and flowers. Public Enemy always had an apocalyptic vibe to their music; Mos Def wasn't pulling any punches on Black on Both Sides. I just started listening to Tyler the Creator today, and his whole shtick is basically scary avant garde beats matched with Cupcake-insane lyrics.
but hey, don't mind me. i'm just the only person on planet earth that bumps Cam'ron songs while reading Grimdark My Little Pony fanfics ._.
Hah! before auto-tune, there was double-tracking the vocals. Not sure why its such a surprise to hear for some folks.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised by this however.
I am very impressed. It's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI don't really support the track uploaded after though.
Holy shit. It just hit the #108 Top Rated Globally.
ReplyDeleteAce.
ReplyDelete@Mic The Microphone
ReplyDeleteDamn this is incredible. I want to pull an experiment actually, to fly this by some friends of mine who don't know ponies at all / just aren't part of Bronydom and see how they judge it. I fully expect they'll find it awesome just as I do.
You were great in Pony Swag and I think you've improved from that. Voice seems stronger, more asserted, I'm no good judge.
All the same, go pro man.
I'm a generic "distasteful of rap from hearing too much of the stereotyped stuff" but lately I've been having more of an open mind to it. It can be done so, soo damn sooo very right too, after all.
Unusual story to this, but a powerful one and well told through the verse. I can honestly admit my jealousy.
I can take twenty thousand words and tell a nice story, but no way can that measure up to the brave few hundred you set cascading through us to vibe across heart and mind.
Awed, astounded, amazed... yeah.
You win.
Play (the rap) again?
(Oh yes!)
@ambion
ReplyDeleteWow... Um.... Thank you... I'm really glad you like it!
._. found this through Alex S... At first i was like: o_o
ReplyDeletebut then i was like: O_O
damn good flow, Mic
I have to say that I am not an impartial judge. Pony Swag made me a brony so I am kinda partial to rap songs.
ReplyDelete@TomWhat a minute! Rap gets hate in Nerd circles? Do you not know mc chris and the Nerdcore revolution? Personally I think Mic needs to get his buddies together and hook up with mc chris and do a tour. Nerdrap is big shit now and even the haters have a hard time not enjoying it.
ReplyDelete@mycutiemarkisagunI too don't see why everypony gets bent out of shape over R34 and Grimdark pony. I see it as part of life. In the real world those aspects of life are hidden as best as possible but they are there so I figure the same holds true in Ponyville. But of course if you can take what you see in Ponyville and apply it to the real world then maybe we can live in a less Grimdark reality... that would be nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mic for writing such an inspiring rap about fighting for kindness with kindness and protecting those that know not what they do is wrong. It's very Jesus like but without that horrible Christian religion messing up his words.
MC Chris? BOOOOOOOO, MC PAUL BARMAN IS THE GOAT NERDCORE RAPPER, b
ReplyDeletei JUST DO not BELIEVE what i saw, what KIND of skills even are those stunts you just pulled
ReplyDeleteGOD
DAAAAAAMMNN
No but seriously. I am genuinely shocked at how much I like this. I am intrigued and I wish to subscribe to your youtube channel.
Mic on the Microphone is an amazing rapper. He's made me want to make my own, lul.
