@CerealI agree with you. As much as it may not please all of us, I would be happy if she actually joined the wonderbolts and was able to wear that uniform.
No offense to Silva Hound, but your music is extremely repetitive. That song could have been three minutes long and 10x better. Playing a loop or loops for a minute at a time in gradual succession isn't my definition of good music. It's just a drawn out piece of crap.
Silva Hound, you have really good potential to make some masterpieces of music, but you draw out your songs way too long. For example, when you keep playing RD saying, "Gala", you loop that for way longer than you should have. Like I said, a lot of your songs, if simplified and shortened rather than drawn out as long as possible, could be amazing works of musical art.
What if... She joined the Wonderbolts, but they were a bunch of assholes or had no real talent or something like that? And then Dash chooses to leave them. OH! Or, joining them would require Dash to go travel with them but she stays with her friends. I'm callin' it now. S2 Episode. Watch.
@wackyteen i disagree, with this specific picture of rainbow dash it doesn't look all that good, but in most pictures I've seen i quite like the collide of both rainbow dash's colourful mane and the colours of the wonderbolts known colours as Blue and Yellow if i'm correct. I quite like the mix of those colours. but that's just my opinion
I don't think that's what Silva Hound is going for though. I feel a definite trance vibe from his music, which is just heavy beats, repeated, and very long per piece of music.
Personally I enjoyed it (since I'm a techno enthusiast), but it's not everyone's thing. This reminds me of that Allegrezza comic...
@ZeBrony His music is a genre that you don't like. You have the right to not like it and move on. But who are you to tell him what to do? Jesus, we're MLP fans here, and yet you call something crap rather than accept that there may be music genres you dislike.
Sorry for double post, but I just listened to the third one. Thought it was just a generic NMM forgiveness thing. Then I'm like, that would be so sad if it was Nyx. Then I see no cutie mark. I cried.
I think she looks alright in the outfit. The pic in the video isn't the greatest (I think it's the eyes and discoloration). I've seen some awesome pics with her in one and some awful pics too. lol
Spitfire, on the other hand, looks great in the outfit. :3 (Well she looks great without too. XD)
I think RD would look best in a modified wonderbolts outfit personally. It just doesn't add enough as an outfit as is. Her key feature is the fact that she stands out. In a wonderbolts outfit, unless otherwise unique, she's just another one of them.
Also, I'm with ZeBrony on #2. I wouldn't have used words like "crap" because I understand some people like something that simple that you can move to but my opinion is that it really doesn't stand out as worthwhile music. I've heard significantly better techno with wider variety. If I can only tolerate something as background music the reason is because it isn't unique, and I believe this to be the case for #2. That said, if it's your thing, fine, but someone being honest even a little harshly worded is still being honest. He isn't flaming it, he is critiquing it with some stronger words to better convey his opinion. His assessment of the music I feel is rather accurate and it isn't an issue of genre.
Anyway, tell me if I'm the only one who feels this way: I don't mind Dash in a Wonderbolts costume in general, but I do mind the goggles. They just don't work. I think it's because her eyes are a: really vibrant, and b: really expressive. When you cover that up with unchanging, dull blue lenses, it kind of loses something, that kind of energy and unfiltered excitement that's always rushing around on the outermost surface of her character. Or something like that. It just always bugged me.
I know what trance is, and I have no problem with trance. Trance is supposed to be drawn out, and sounds really amazing that way. A good example would be Slip by Deadmau5. I wouldn't mind Silva Hound's music if it actually sounded like trance. What Silva Hound is making, sounds like just some regular techno stuff. Techno that shouldn't be dragged on and on. If Silva Hound likes making drawn out music, I suggest that he/she make trance-style music. The style of music that he/she is making doesn't work with overly repeated loops, etc.
I will admit, what I said was very critical and I was kind of a jerk. Sorry. I'm mainly just trying to suggest that Silva Hound change his music for the better, or what I think is better. I realize that sounds extremely conceited. He doesn't have to listen to me, but in my opinion, and for lack of a better phrase, he's doing it wrong. If he likes making long songs, he should make his songs sound more like trance techno. What he's doing now is basic techno stuff and, to me, it doesn't sound right when the songs are elongated to the max.
No, you're right. I think she's better "au naturale." Though I have seen her look pretty awesome in it in some fan art, evidenced in http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/275/2/b/number_1_fan_by_veggie55-d4bms75.png
@Silva Hound
You never cease to amaze me, sir/madam. Though you've overused that bit of Dash's lines in the "Gala" song. This time it's more badass than ever, so I forgive you. :P (goes to download right now.) Also, I have to admit, for all the flak you get about being repetitive, trance is one of the genres I find myself most able to concentrate on other projects whilst listening to. Because of my college workload and my inablity to "single task," you have assisted me in two midterm papers and another nonfiction writing assignment. Thank you. Feel free to ignore comments on your repetitiveness on account of this.
If not everyone's opinions are supposed to matter, than no one's opinions should matter. By that logic, no artist should feel like they have room to improve, or that they should strive to improve their skills or quality of what they create.
OK, first the non-music-related topic: The point of the Wonderbolts' uniform isn't to make an individual pony look better, but to make the team look like a unified whole, and I think it works well in that regard. Of course a pony as unique and independent as Rainbow Dash isn't going to look as good in such a uniform, though I personally think she doesn't look bad. And I'm with those who think Spitfire looks good without her uniform, and great in it.
#1: Nice job adapting the song to more of a rock beat. I don't think it works quite as well that way, but I want to stress that it's a lot of fun anyway.
#2: I'm not a techno fan, so feel free to disregard my opinion, but... I liked this one. There's a couple of comments saying it's too repetitive, but personally I thought there were just a couple of sections that were 20% too repetitive. (Sorry, couldn't be helped.) Techno works surprisingly well with Rainbow Dash's part of the Gala song.
#3: Nice song, and the ending does sound appropriately sorrowful.

ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who thinks Dash looks absolutely TERRIBLE in a Wonderbolt's outfit?
ReplyDeleteSilva Hound blew up my speakers again. Damnit.
ReplyDelete@wackyteen Nope I do think the same thing as you
ReplyDelete@wackyteen Nope
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's so much that we think she looks good in it as it's just good to see her having achieved her dream. Atleast that's how I view it.
ReplyDeleteNice round of music. Good art, too! (I agree with the fact that RBD looks TERRIBLE in a wonderbolts getup, however)
ReplyDeleteYeah, Dash looks terrible in the wonderbolt outfit. I wonder if she ever will actually join them in the series.

ReplyDeleteI dunno, I don't think the colors look half bad, but the mask bugs me a bit. I think the mask of the uniform just looks tacky on anypony. Even YOU!

@wackyteen It's the blue on blue - specifically her color blue. I never really liked the wonderbolts uniforms to begin with. Too spandex-ey.
ReplyDelete@EngineerBrony But Spitfire looks so much better in the WB outfit...

@Lazulic chuck testa
ReplyDelete@Graphiclee
ReplyDeleteDash would stand out on account of her tail sprouting rainbows rather than clouds though.
and i doubt she would ever join. Being the only wonderbolt to do sonic rainbooms she already has enough talent to form her own team.
Oh good! Tombstone finally got on EqD!
ReplyDeleteI really like that third one. Bravo.

ReplyDeleteNo, I am with you on that bro. I think its because the outfit and her coat color are way too similar, it doesn't look right.
